Electronic speed limiter
Instruments and warning/indicator lights 31
Your vehicle may be factory equipped with
tires that are rated for a maximum speed of
130 mph (210 km/h) . This is less than the
maximum speed of your vehicle. To reduce the
risk of sudden tire failure and loss of control if
the veh icle is ope rated at excessive speeds,
your veh icle also has an elect ronic speed limitÂ
er. The electronic speed limiter prevents your
vehicle from going faster than the tire speed
rating . For more information
c:::> page 254.
If the engine control unit receives faulty vehiÂ
cle road speed s ignals, the Malfunction IndiÂ
cator Lamp (MIL)
¢,llij will illuminate . If this
occurs, contact the nearest authorized Audi
dealer for assistance.
S models
Your veh icle's top speed is electronically limitÂ
ed to 155 mph (250 km/h).
I f the engine control unit receives faulty vehiÂ
cle roadspeed signals, the Malfunction IndicaÂ
tor Lamp (MIU
¢,llij will illum inate. If this ocÂ
curs, contact the nea rest authorized Audi
dealer for assistance.
8_ WARNING
Always observe the posted speed limits
and adjust your speed to suit prevailing
road, traffic and weather conditions. Never
drive your vehicle faster than the maxiÂ
mum speed rating of the tires insta lled.

_& WARNING
-Automatic headlights are only intended
to assist the driver . They do not relieve
the driver of his responsibility to check
the headlights and to turn them on manÂ
ually according to the current light and
visibility conditions. For example, fog
cannot be detected by the light sensors.
So always switch on the headlights
io
under these weather conditions and
when driving in the dark.
- Crashes can happen when you cannot see
the road ahead and when you cannot be
seen by other motorists. Always turn on
the headlights so that you can see ahead
and so that others can see your car from
the back.
- Please observe legal regulations when
using the lighting systems described.
(D Note
The rear fog lights should only be turned
on in accordance with traffic regulation, as
the lights are bright for following traffic.
(D Tips
- The light sensor* for automatic headÂ
light range control* is located in the rear
view mirror mount. You should therefore not apply any stickers to the windshield
in this area in order to prevent malfuncÂ
tions or failures.
- In the event of a light sensor malfuncÂ
tion, the driver is notified in the instruÂ
ment cluster display ~
page 23 .
-You will hear a warning tone if you open
the driver door when the exterior lights
are switched on.
- In cool or damp weather, the inside of
the headlights, turn signals and tail
lights can fog over due to the temperaÂ
ture difference between the inside and
outside. They will clear shortly after
switching them on. This does not affect
the service life of the lighting.

©-Single wipe. If you hold the lever in this
position longer, the wipers switch from slow
wiping to fast wiping.
® -Clean the windshield . The wipers wipe
one time after several seconds of driving to
remove water droplets. You can switch this
function off by moving the lever to position ®
within 10 seconds after the afterwipe. The afÂ
terw ipe funct ion is reactivated the next time
you switch the ignition on.
Cleaning the headlights*. The headlight washÂ
er system * operates only when the headlights
are on. If you move the lever to position @,
the headlights and the night vision assistant
camera* are washed in intervals.
A WARNING
-The rain sensor is only designed to assist
and support the driver.
It remains entireÂ
ly the driver's responsibility to monitor
outside weather conditions and to manÂ
ually activate the wipers as soon as rain
or drizzle reduces visibility through the
windshield.
- The windshield must not be treated with
water-repellent materials. They can inÂ
crease glare under poor visibility condiÂ
tions such as wetness, darkness, or when
the sun is low on the horizon. In addiÂ
tion, they can cause the windshield wipÂ
ers to chatter.
- Properly functioning windshield wiper blades are required for a clear view and
safe driving~
page 49, Replacing
windshield wiper blades.
0 Note
- In the case of frost, check whether the
windshield wiper blades are frozen to
the windshield. Switching on the windÂ
shield wipers can damage the wiper blades!
- Prior to using a car wash, the windshield
wiper system must be switched off (lever in position @). This helps to prevent unÂ
intentional switching on and damage to
the windshield wiper system.
Clear vision 49
-Do not use the wipers to clear a frosted
window. Using the wipers as a convenÂ
ient ice scraper will destroy the wiper
blades.
(D Tips
- The windshield wipers are switched off
when the ignition is off. Activate the
windshield wipers after the ignition is
switched back on by moving the windÂ
shield wiper lever to any position.
- Worn or dirty windshield wiper blades
result in streaking. This can affect the
rain sensor function. Check your windÂ
shield wiper blades regularly.
- The washer fluid nozzles of the windÂ
shield washer system are heated at low
temperatures when the ignition is on.
- When stopping temporarily, e .g. at a
traffic light, the set speed of the windÂ
shield wipers is automatically reduced by
one speed.
Cleaning windshield wiper blades
Clean the windshield wiper blades when they
begin to leave streaks.
.,. Place the windshield wiper arms in the servÂ
ice position. Refer to~
page 50.
.,. Use a soft cloth and glass cleaner to clean
the windshield wiper blades.

Tilt function for the passenger's mirror
To help you see the curb when backing into a
parking space, the surface of the mirror tilts
slightly. The knob must be in the P position
for this to happen.
You can adjust the tilted mirror surface by
turning the knob in the desired direction.
When you move out of reverse and into anothÂ
er gear, the new mirror position is stored and
assigned to the key you are using.
The mirror goes back into its original position
once you drive forward faster than 9 mph (15
km/h) or switch the ignition off.
.&_ WARNING
- Curved (i.e. convex) mirror surfaces inÂ
crease your field of view. Remember that
vehicles or other objects will appear
smaller and farther away than when seen in a flat mirror.
If you use this mirror to
estimate distances of following vehicles
when changing lanes, you could estimate
incorrectly and cause an accident.
(D Note
-If the mirror housing is moved unintenÂ
tionally (for example, while parking your
vehicle), then you must first fold the mi rÂ
ror electrically. Do not readjust the mirÂ
ror housing manually. You could damage
the motor which controls the mirror.
- If you wash the vehicle in an automatic
car wash, you must fold the exterior mirÂ
rors in to reduce the risk of damage to
the mirrors. Never fold power folding exÂ
terior mirrors* by hand. Only fold them in and out using the power controls.

If you do this while the veh icle is moving,
you will be out of position . A lways adjust
the driver's or front passenger's seat

way, or serious injury could result!
- Because the seats can be electrically adÂ
justed with the ignit ion off, never leave
children unattended in the vehicle. UnsuÂ
pervised use o f the electric seat adjustÂ
ments may cause serious injury.
- To reduce the risk of injury in the case of
sudden braking or accident, front pasÂ
sengers must never ride in a moving veÂ
hicle with the backrest reclined. Safety
belts and the airbag system on ly offer
maximum protection when the backrest
is upright and the safety belts are propÂ
erly positioned on the body . The more
the backrest is reclined, the greater the
ris k of persona l inju ry from an incorrect
seating position and improperly posiÂ
tioned safety belts.
(D Tips
- The massage function switches off autoÂ
matically after approximately 10 miÂ

- Th e side bolsters* deflate when the drivÂ
