Parking lock emergency release

The emergency release is located in the front cup
holder under a cover. Read and follow the impor-
tant instructions about towing > page 313.
Releasing the parking lock using the
emergency release
> Secure the vehicle against rolling > page 94.
» Remove the rubber mat.
> Pry the cover off the opening using the screw-
driver from the vehicle tool kit.
> Insert the socket wrench from the vehicle tool
kit in the opening so that the handle points to-
ward the front passenger's side.
> Turn the socket wrench clockwise (@ until it
stops and press it downward @) until it locks in-
to place.
>» Leave the socket wrench inserted.
Resetting the parking lock
> Grasp the socket wrench with both hands, care-
fully pull it all the way up, and then turn it
back.
> Now remove the socket wrench.
> Reinsert the cover and rubber mat.
IN WARNING
— The parking lock must be released using the
emergency release before towing the vehi-
cle.
— Only use the parking lock emergency release
if the vehicle is secured against rolling
= page 94. An unsecured vehicle may roll,
which increases the risk of an accident.
— Only activate the emergency release while
ona level surface or a slight slope.
—To reduce the risk of an accident, you must
not drive when the emergency release is ac-
tivated.
Messages
& Transmission: malfunction! Safely stop vehi-
cle
Do not continue driving. Stop the vehicle as soon
as possible in a safe location and secure it so it
does not roll > page 94. See an authorized Audi
dealer or authorized Audi Service Facility for as-
sistance.
oy} Transmission: too hot. Please stop vehicle
Do not continue driving. Select "P" and contact an
authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi Service
Facility for assistance.
fs} Transmission: too hot. Please adapt driving
style
The transmission temperature has increased sig-
nificantly. Drive very cautiously or take a break
from driving until the temperature returns to the
normal range and the indicator light turns off.
[8] Transmission: malfunction! You can contin-
ue driving. See owner's manual
There is a system malfunction in the transmis-
sion. You may continue driving. Drive to an au-
thorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi Service
Facility soon to have the malfunction corrected.
fs} Transmission: malfunction! You can contin-
ue driving with limited function. Please contact
Service
There is a system malfunction in the transmis-
sion. The transmission is switching to emergency
mode. This mode only shifts into certain gears or
may no longer shift at all. The engine may stall.

High-voltage system
> To activate timer charging, select s= until Tim-
er charging mode is displayed.
If the set departure time on the timer is too
close, it may not be possible to charge the vehicle
fully.
@) Tips
It is not possible to charge using the timer at
some charging stations.
Applies to: vehicles with plug-in hybrid drive
In case of malfunction, you can manually release
the charging port door or the charging connec-
tor.

Manually releasing the charging port door
> Open the luggage compartment lid.
> Turn the cap counterclockwise and fold the cov-
er > fig. 84 upward.
> Loosen the red loop @ © fig. 85 from the re-
tainer and then pull on the loop carefully >@.
> To open the charging port door, press on the
right side of the door > page 122, fig. 82.
> After releasing manually, secure the loop on
the retainer and close the cover.
> Drive to an authorized Audi dealer or author-
ized Audi Service Facility immediately to have
the malfunction corrected.
Manually releasing the charging connector
If you are not able to pull the charging connector
out of the vehicle charging port, there may bea
malfunction. You must use the emergency re-
lease to release the vehicle charging connector.
Requirement: the “P” gear must be selected and
the vehicle must be unlocked.
> End the charging process > page 123.
> Open the luggage compartment lid.
> Turn the cap counterclockwise and fold the cov-
er > fig. 84 upward.
> Carefully pull on the red loop @) fig. 85 > ©.
> Remove the charging connector.
> Close the emergency release cover.
> Drive to an authorized Audi dealer or author-
ized Audi Service Facility immediately to have
the malfunction corrected.
If the charging connector still cannot be removed
after using the emergency release, see an author-
ized Audi dealer or authorized Audi Service Facili-
ty for assistance.

Only pull on the loop until you feel resistance.
You
will not hear it release. If you continue to
pull, you could damage the emergency re-
lease mechanism.
Messages
Applies to: vehicles with plug-in hybrid drive
If the = indicator light turns on, then the range
is low or very low. Charge the high-voltage bat-
tery.
Bac charging system: malfunction! Please
contact Service
This message appears if there is a malfunction in
the charging system. Drive to an authorized Audi
dealer or authorized Audi Service Facility immedi-
ately.

Emergency assistance
General information
> Park the vehicle as far as possible from moving
traffic in the event of a breakdown. In the event
of a flat tire, park the vehicle ona level surface.
If you are ona steep hill, be especially careful.
> Set the parking brake.
> Switch the emergency flashers on.
> Have the passengers exit the vehicle. They
should move to a safe place, for example be-
hind a guard rail.
Follow the steps given above. This is for your
protection and the for the safety of others on
the road.

Conventional drive system: The vehicle tool kit,
vehicle jack*, tire mobility kit*, and compressor*
are stored in the luggage compartment under
the cargo floor cover > fig. 174.
Plug-in hybrid drive: The vehicle tool kit, tire mo-
bility kit, and the compressor are located behind
the side panel in the luggage compartment
> fig. 175.
Conventional drive system
> Lift the cargo floor using the handle > fig. 174.
> Applies to: vehicles with spare tire: Turn the
handle counter-clockwise and remove the spare
tire.
Plug-in hybrid drive
> Open the cover (@ in the side panel > fig. 175.
> Open the twist lock @).
Conventional drive system: Depending on the
equipment, the vehicle tool kit and the tire mobi-
lity kit* may be located under the spare tire*, un-
der another cover, or in the tool box.
— The vehicle jack* does not require any main-
tenance.
— Plug-in hybrid drive: The vehicle must not
be operated without a tire mobility kit.
Tire mobility kit
Applies to: vehicles with tire mobility kit
> Read and follow the important safety precau-
tions > page 305.
> Set the parking brake.
> Select the “P” position.
> Check if a repair with the tire mobility kit is pos-
sible > page 306.
