Multifunction button

You can adjust the massage function, upper
section of the backrest, lumbar support, side bolsters, seating surface and safety belt
height using the multifunction button.

A WARNING
-
-Never ad just the driver's or front pas­
senger's seat whi le the vehicle is moving.
If you do this while the vehicle is moving,
you will be out of position. A lways adjust
the dr iver's or front passenge r's seat
when the vehicle is not mov ing.
- Be careful when adjusting the seat
he ight . Check to see that no one is in the
way, or serious injury cou ld result!
- Because the seats can be electrically ad­
justed with the ignition off, never leave
chi ldren unattended in the veh icle. Unsu­
perv ised use of the e lectr ic sea t adj ust­
men ts may cause serious injury.
- To reduce the risk of injury in the case of
sudden b raking or acc iden t, front pas­
sengers mus t never r ide in a movi ng ve­
hicle with the backrest reclined . Safety
be lts and the airbag system only offer
maximum protection when the backrest
is upright and the safety belts are prop­
erly positioned on the body . The more
the backrest is reclined, the greater the risk of personal injury from an incorrect
seating position and improperly pos i­
tioned safety belts .
@ Tips
-The massage function switches off auto­
matically after approximately 10 mi­
nutes.
- In vehicles w ith the reclining rear seat,
only the safety belt he igh t and the seat­
ing surface can be adjusted on the front
passenge r sea t using the mul tifunc tion
butto n.

Armrest
There is a storage compartment under the
armrest .

Please note that the driver's arm movements
may be restricted w ith the armrest folded
down . Fo r this reason, the armrest should not
be folded down when driving in city traffic.
Rear seats
General information
Safe transportation of passengers on the rear
seats requires proper safety precautions.
All passengers on the rear seats must be seat­
ed in compliance with the safety guidelines
explained in
¢page 137 and qpage 145.
The correct seating position is critical for the
safety of front
and rear seat passengers alike

A WARNING
-Occupants in the front and rear seats
must always be properly restrained.

- Do not let anyone ride in the vehicle
without the head restraints provided.
Head restraints help to reduce injuries .
- Loose items inside the passenger com­
partment can fly forward in a crash or
sudden maneuver and injure occupants.
Always store articles in the luggage com­
partment and use the tie-down eyelets.
- Read and heed all WARNINGS

Adjusting the display
©-Tilt ing the display forward/back: press
and hold the left/right b utton @ until the dis­
play reaches the desired position.
You can fold the display forward so that you
have a clear view of the roadway. With the
seat in the reclining position, press and hold
the right button@ unti l the display is folded
forward. Make sure the driver has a clear view
of the exterior mirrors. If so, confirm the
question in the MMI with Yes. If you answer
No or do not respond to the question, the dis­
play will return to the upright pos ition .
A WARNING
Do not use the front passenger's seat for
seating when it is in the reclin ing position.
This increases the risk of serious injury or
death.
- Never adjust the reclining position when
the front passenger's seat is occupied.
This increases the risk of injury.
- Do not t ilt the display if the driver's view
of the right exterior mirror will be ob­
structed.
- Make sure the area between the leg sup­
port and the front passenger's seat back­
rest is clear before fo lding the leg sup­
port in so that you are not pinched.
(!) Tips
If yo u cannot move the seat into the re­
clining position, it may be because
- th e front passenger's seat memory func­
tion is switched off c:::>
page 62 or
- the child safety lock is switched on (the
~ button c:::> page 39 or the rig ht t but­
ton c:::>

Comfort settings
Applies to vehicles: wit h comfort seats in the rear
You can adjust settings for the rear seat from
the cockpit using the MMI.
" Select !CAR I function button> Car systems
contro l button > Vehicle settings > Seats >
Rear seats.
Factory settings position -
This function
moves the outer rear seats and the front pas­
senger seatback into the factory settings posi­
t ion .
Entry assistance -Entry assistance makes it
easier to enter and exit the rear seat more
comfortably. When the function is activated,
the rear seat moves all the way back automat­
i ca lly when the corresponding door opens .
Front passenger seat adjustment* -If the
function is act ivated in the MMI, the fro nt
passenger seat can be adjusted from the rear
seat

The front passenger seat cannot be ad justed
if:
- the front passenger seat memory function is
turned off

The memory buttons are located in the driv­
er's/front passenger's door and in the rear
doors* .
Storing seating profiles
.. To store a seating profi le, press the ISETI
button and then one of the memory but­
tons .
.. To recall a seating profile, press and hold
the memory button until the seat is adjust­
ed to the stored settings.
.. To switch the memory function for the driv­
er or front passenger off, press the
IOFFI
button. The word OFF lights up when the
memory function is sw itched off. Seating
profiles will not be stored .
Adjusting the reclining position/standard
position
.. To adjust the reclining position, press and
hold the@ button until the seat moves into
the end position .
.. To adjust the standard position, press and
hold the @ button until the seat moves into
the end position.

-For safety reasons, the seat setting
should only be recalled when the veh icle

The 115-volt socket can only be used when
the engine is running ¢.&. .When you push
the connector all the way into the socket, the
child safety mechanism releases and current
flows through the socket. ""

A WARNING
-The ski sack is intended only for the
transportation of skis and other light ob­
jects. To reduce the risk of serious per­
sonal injury, never transport heavy or pointed objects in the ski sack.
- When brak ing rapidly or during an acci­
dent, the load could be displaced and
cause i njury to occupants.
- Sharp edges on the load must be covered
for protect ion. Always fasten the belt
ti ghtly around the sack and its contents
~fig. 68.
-For safety reasons, do not t ransport
more than two pairs of skis in the ski
sack .
- You must secure the ski sack with the
strap after loading.
- Make sure all objects tha t you are trans­
porting in the pass-th rough a re secured.
Otherwise they cou ld slide around during
s u dden braking maneuvers and cause in­
jury.
(D Tips
- Never stow the sk i sack away when it is
still wet or damp ( for example, snow
melting from skis). Allow it to dry com­
plete ly before stowing it away.
- Position skis in the ski sack w ith the
pointed ends facing the front and ski
po les w ith the pointed ends facing the
rear.

Roof rack
Description and mounting locations
Additional cargo can be carried with a roof
luggage rack.

.,. Always read and follow the instructions pro­
vided by the roof rack man ufacturer when
the roof rack system must be installed.
If luggage or cargo is to be carr ied on the
roof, you must observe the following:
- To enhance the vehicle's streamlined design,
rai n gutters have been molded i nto the roof.
It is not poss ible to use normal roof racks.
On ly ins tall a roof rack specifically designed
for your model AB. Contact the nearest Audi dea ler for information on approved modular
roof racks for your vehicle.
- On ly use roof racks approved for your vehi ­
cle. These approved roof racks are the basis
for a complete roof rack system. Additional
attachments or carrier systems are needed
to transport luggage and sports equipment.
We recommend using roof racks from the
Audi orig inal accessories program .
- When installing the roof rack, make sure it
is o nly mounted on the des ignated locations
on the roof

- We recommend that you keep the installa­
tion instructions for your roof rack system
together with your Owner's literature in the
veh icle.

the rear, the cupholder is located at @

A WARNING
Spilled hot liquid can cause an accident
and personal inj ury .
- Never carry any beverage containers with hot liquids, s uch as hot coffee or hot tea,
in the veh icle while it is mov ing. In case
of an accident, sudden braking or other
vehicle movement, hot liquid could spill,
causing scalding burns. Spilled hot liquid
can also cause an accident and personal injury. -
Use on ly soft cups in the cupholder. Hard
cups and glasses can cause injury in an
accident.
(D Note
Only drink containers with lids should be
carried in the cupholder. Liquid could spill
out and damage your vehicle's electronic
equipment or stain the upholstery, etc.
Cooled glove compartment
The cooled glove compartment only functions
when the AIC system is switched on.

The glove compartment cooling mode only
funct ions when the vehicle A/C system is
switched on. If the heat ing is sw itched on,
switching the glove compartment cooling mode off is recommended.

Storage area behind the rear seat
You can place light art icles of clothing on the
rear w indow shelf behind the backrest.

A WARNING ,~ ~
When driving, do not leave any hard ob­
jects on the rear w indow shel f or allow
your pet to s it on the shelf. They could be­
come a hazard for veh icle occupants in the
event of sudden braking or a crash.
([) Note
Make sure abrasive objects do not damage
the heating w ires for the rear window de­
fogger.
{1) Tips
- A vent slot is located between the shelf
and the rear window. Do not b lock the
vent with any items you may place on the
rear w indow shelf.
- Do not place bulky items on the rear w in­
dow shelf as they could restrict o r block
the driver's vis ion in the rear view mirro r.
Additional storage
There are a variety of storage compartments
and fasteners in various places in the vehicle.
- Storage compartments in the doors
- Net in the front passenger footwell
- Eyeglasses compartment in the headliner
(near the rearview m irror)
- Storage compartments under the center
armrests
- Compartments* on the back of the front
seat backrests
- Garment hooks over the rear doors
- Compartment in the center console with
pass-through)* (rear)
- Compartment behind the rear center arm ­
rest (in vehicles without the pass-through*
or refr igerator*)
- Bag hooks in the luggage compartment
A WARNING
-
- Always remove objects from the instru­
ment panel. Any items not stored could
slide arou nd inside the vehicle while driv­
ing or when accelerating or when apply-

ing the brakes or when driving around a
corner.
- When you are driving make sure that
anyth ing you may have placed in the cen­
ter conso le or other storage locations
cannot fall out into the footwells. In case
of sudden braking you would not be able
to b ra ke or accelerate .
- Any art icles of clothing that you have
hung up must not inte rfere wit h the dr iv­
er's view. The coat hooks are des ign ed
only fo r ligh twe ight clot hing. Neve r hang
any cloth ing wi th hard, po in ted o r heavy
objects in the po ckets on the coat hoo ks .
During s udden braking or in an accident -
especia lly if the airbag is deployed -
these objects co uld inj ure any passen­
gers inside the vehicle.
- To reduce the risk of perso nal inju ry in an
accident or s udden stop, always keep the
glove compartment closed wh ile driving.
- Read and follow a ll WARNINGS
c::> page 165 , Important safety instruc­
tions on the side airbag system.
- Hang clothes in such a way that they do
not impair the driver's vision.
- The coat hooks must only be used for
lightweight clothing. Do not leave any
heavy or sharp edged objects in the pock­
ets which may interfere with the s ide cur­
tain airbag deployment and can ca use
pe rsonal injury in a crash .
- Do not use coat hangers for hanging cloth ing on the coat hooks as th is can in­
terfere with prope r deployment of the
side curta in a irbags in an acc ident.
- Do not hang heavy objects on the coat
hooks, as they co uld cause perso nal i n­
ju ry in a sudden stop.
(D Note
Objects located on the rear shelf that rub
against the rea r window could damage the
heating wires for the rear window defog­
ger.

Operation
We recommend pressing the IAUTO I button and setting the temperature to 72 °F (22 °C) .

Press the buttons to turn the functions on or
off . Use the dials to adjust the temperature,
the blower speed and the air distribution . The
LED in a button will light up when the func­
tion is sw itched on. The settings are shown in
the climate control display and are also shown in the MMI display for a few seconds . The driv­
er and front passenger settings can be adjust­ ing separately.
You can also adjust the rear left and right
sides in the four zone automat ic climate con­
rol*

IOFF I Switching the climate control
system on/off
The IOFFI button switches the climate control
system on or off . It also switches on when you
turn the dial o r press any button . Airf low from outside
is blocked when the climate control
system is switched off.
You can activate the residual heat function
when the ignition is off by pressing and hold­
i ng the ~ button . The residual heat from the
coolant is used to heat the vehicle interior.
The residua l heat function switches off auto­
matically after about 30 minutes.
IAC I Switching cooling mode on/off
The air is not coo led and hum idity is not re­
moved when cooling mode is switched off.
This can cause fog on the w indows. Cooling
mode switches off automatically when the
outside temperature is below zero.
l=-1 Switching recirculation mode on/off
In recircu lation mode, the air inside the vehi­
cle is circu lated and filtered . This prevents the
unf iltered air outside the vehicle from enter­
ing the vehicle interior. We recommend
switching recirculation mode on when driving
through a tunnel or when sitting in traff ic
~ A .
The !AU TO l button or~ button switches reci r­
cu lation mode off.
IAUTOI Switching automatic mode on
Automat ic mode maintains a constant tem ­
perature inside the vehicle. Air temperature, .,..

place heavy loads on a small area of the
seat.
Setup
The climate control system setup is accessed
through the MMI.

Rear cabin settings*
When th is function is selected, all sett ings for
the rear can be adjusted through the climate con trol system in the cockpit. The cl ima te
con trol system setti ngs cannot be adjus ted in
the rear seat a t the same time . This func tion
switches off after a ce rtain period of time or
when one of the dials in the cockpit is press­
ed.
Auto reci rculation*
The sens itivity level of the au tom atic rec i rcu­
l ation mode can be set at v arious leve ls from
off to sensit ive . When recirculation mode ia:. !
is switched on, air recirculation is contro lled
automatically . You must press the~ button if
fog forms on the windows.
Footwell temperature
You ca n ad just the footwe ll tempe rat ur e so
that it is cooler or wa rmer.
AC mode
T he strengt h of t he airflow ca n be adjusted to
light, med ium o r strong.
Windshield heat*
When the defroster~ is switched o n and the
Auto sett ing is selected, the windshie ld de­
froster is controll ed automatically .
Solar roof*
When the ignition is off, so lar-powered park­
i n g vent ilation may switch o n, as long as
- there is sufficient sunlight,
- th e outside tempe ratu re is not too low,
- the center vents are open,
- the sun roof is clos ed o r til te d and

tem) and
Auto ( M MI) are selected.

The steering wheel heating sett ings are stor­
ed a utomat ically and assigne d to the remote
control key that is in use.
