A WARNING
- The power adjustment for the individual seats also works with the ignition. For
this reason, children should never be left
unattended in the vehicle -they could be
injured!
- Exercise caution when adjusting the
seats . Unsupervised or careless seat ad­
justment can pinch fingers or hands causing injuries.
- Vehicles with a pass through in the cen­
ter console have seating for four. The

If a child seat is attached to one of the rear
seats, this seat must not be adjusted using
the power controls under any circumstan­
ces. The easy entry function for this seat
must also be deactivated in the MMI
<=:> page 64. The child seat as well as the
rear seat can be damaged by the adjust­
ment process.

The massage function switches off auto­
matically after approximately 10 minutes.
- If you cannot move the front passenger
seat, it may be because
- the front passenger's seat memory
function is switched off

play reaches the desired position .
You can fold the display forward so that you have a clear view of the roadway . With the
seat in the reclining position, press and hold
the right button @ unti l the display is folded
forward. Make sure the driver has a clear view
of the exterior mirrors. If so, confirm the
quest ion in the MMI with Yes. If you answer
No or do not respond to the question, the dis­
play will return to the upright position .

(f) -Make sure that the front passenger's seat
adjustment is switched on in the Infotain­
ment system
c> page 64. Activate the front
passenger's seat adjustment with the button
(f). You can now adjust the passenger's seat
forward/back and the backrest us ing the but­

adjust the passenger's seat to the reclin ing/
upright position. If you do not adjust the pas­
senger's seat, the button
(f) will deactivate
automatica lly after about 10 seconds.
_.& WARNING
Do not use the front passenger's seat for
seating when it is in the reclin ing pos ition.
This increases the risk of serious injury or
death .
- Never adjust the recl ining posit ion when
the front passenger's seat is occupied.
This inc reases the r isk of injury.
- Do not t ilt the d isplay if the driver's view
of the right exter io r mirror will be ob­
structed.
- Make sure the area between the leg sup­ port and the front passenger 's seat back­
rest is clear befo re fo ld ing the leg sup­
port in so that yo u are not pinched .

Head restraints
Adjusting the head restraints
Head restraints that are adjusted according
to body size, along with the safety belt, offer
effective protection.

Adjust the head restraint so the upper edge is
as even as possible with the top of your head.
If that is not possible, try to adjust the head
restra int so that it is as close to this position
as possible r=:>page 65.
Adjusting front head restraints
• To adjust the height of the front head re­
straints, press/push the button ©

• Vehicles with reclining rear seat: Grasp the
s ides of the passenger's head restraint with
both hands and slide it upward/downward.
Adjusting rear head restraints (adjustable

- All seats are equipped with head re-
straints. Dr iving without head restraints
or with head restraints that are not prop­
erly adjusted increases the risk of serious
or fatal neck injury dramatically.

- Vehicles with a pass through in the cen­
ter conso le have seating for four. The
long center console between the two
rear seats is
not a seating position.

- T o prevent the head restraints from run­
ning into the headliner, they retract au­
tomatically when moving the seat for­
ward or upward.
- Correctly adjusted head restraints and
safety belts are an extremely effective
combination of safety features.

Switching the memory function on /off
.. Press the !O FF ! button to switch the memory
function on/off. The LED in t he b utton i llu­
minates when the memory f unct ion is
switched off. Seat ing profiles a re neither
stored nor reca lled.
Storing a seating profile
.. Press the !SE T! butto n. When the word SET
lights up, the memory is ready to store set­
t ings .
.. Press a memory button br iefly. A tone con­
firms that the set tings were stored.

115-volt socket
A ppl ies to vehicles: with 115-volt socket
The 115-vo lt socket can o nly be used when
the eng ine is running ¢,&. . Whe n you push
the connector a ll the way into the socket, the
child safety mechan ism releases and cu rrent
f lows through the socket.
Equipment that can be connected
Elect rical devices can be connected to the 115
volt socket in the veh icle . Power consumption at
the 115-volt socket must not exceed 150
watts (300 watts peak) . Check the power con­
s u mption of the equipment on the mode l
plate.
LED on the socket
- The socket is ready for use when the L ED is
green.
- I f the L ED blin ks red, there is a ma lf u nct ion.
The socket wi ll swi tch off automatica lly due
to overc urrent or overheating . The socket
w ill switch on aga in a utomat ica lly after a
coo l-down period. Any devices that are con­
nected and switched on will activate again
automatically ¢

A WARNING
- The sockets and the electrical accesso ries
connected to them operate only when
the ignition is switched on. Inc orrect us­
a ge can lead to ser ious injur ies or bu rns.
T o reduce the risk of inju ries, never leave
chi ldren unatten ded in the veh icle with
the vehicle key .
- H eavy eq uipment or plugs with in tegrat­
e d power supply units can damage the
socket and lead to injur ies .
- Sto re a ll connected e quipment securely
while the vehicle is moving so that the y
cannot be thrown t hro ugh the veh icle in
the event of a braking maneuver or an
accident.
- Never sp ill any liquids on the socket. I f
any mo isture gets into the socket, make
certain that all the moisture has dried up
before us ing the socket again .
- Equipment that is connected to the vehi­
cle socket can heat up mo re than it does
when connected to the public gr id.
- When us ing adapters and exte ns io n
cords, the child safety for the 115-volt
socket is d isabled and the soc ket is live.
- Never i nse rt anything other than the
p lug of an appropr iate e lectr ical accesso·
ry into th e socket, especia lly t hings that
conduc t electr ic ity, e.g. meta l pens, knit­
t ing nee dles, etc. in to the co ntacts of the
1 15 -volt socket.

-Turn the electrical equipment off if the
socket has sw itched off because of over­
heating.

- Always fo llow the manufacturer's in­
structions for all electrical accessories
you want to use with the electrical sock­
et!
- Do not connect lamps that contain a ne­
on tube. For technical reasons the lamp may be damaged.
- Do not connect any 230-volt equipment
to the 115-volt socket . The equipment
may be damaged . If necessary, check the
permissible voltage for the equipment
on the model label.
- In the case of some power packs, e .g . for
a laptop computer, the bu ilt-in overcur­
rent shutoff prevents it from be ing
switched o n because of excessive start­
u p current. In this case, disconnect the
power pack from the consumer and re ­
connect it after about 10 seconds.
@ Tips
- Unsh ielded equipment may cause inter­
ference in the radio and the veh icle elec­
tronics.
- Some eq uipment may work p roperly be­
cause of the reduced power (wattage),
available from the socket.

Stowing luggage .
In a collis ion, the laws of phys ics mean that
even smaller items that are loose in the vehi­
cle will turn into heavy missiles that can ca use
serious in jury . Items in the vehicle pick up ki­
netic energy which varies w ith the vehicle and
the weight of the item . Vehicle speed is the
most signif icant factor.
F or example, in a frontal coll is ion at a speed
of 30 mph (48 km/h), the forces acting on a
10- lb (4 .5 kg) object are about
20 times the
normal weight of the item . This means that
the we ight of the item would suddenly be the equivalent of about 200 lbs (90 kg). One can
easily imagine the injuries that an
item of that
weight flying freely through the passenger compartment can cause in a collis ion at a
speed considered relatively low .
A WARNING
-Weak, damaged or imprope r straps used
to secure items to tie-downs can fail dur­ in g hard braking or in a collision and cause
se rio us personal injury.
- Always use su itable reta ining straps a nd
p roperly secu re items to the tie-downs in
the l uggage compa rtment to he lp pre­
vent i tems from shift ing or fly ing fo r­
ward.
- Never at tach a chi ld seat tether strap to
a t ie -down.
- For s trength-re lated reasons, the mou nt­
ing hooks can only be used to secure ob­
jects weighing up to 10 lb. (5 kg) . Heavi ­
er objects will not be adequately sec ured
- there is a risk of injury.

Pass-through with ski

A WARNING ... -
-The ski sack is intended only for the
transportation of skis and other light ob­
jects. To reduce the risk of ser io us per­
sonal injury, never transport heavy or
pointed objects in the ski sack.
- When braking rapidly or during an acci­
dent, the load could be disp laced and
cause injury to occupants.
- Sharp edges o n the load must be covered
for protection. Always fasten the belt
tightly around the sack and its contents. _...

-For safety reasons, do not transport
more than two pairs of skis in the ski
sack.
- You must secure the ski sack with the
strap after loading.
- Make sure all objects that you are trans­
porting in the pass-through are secured.
Otherwise they could slide around during
sudden braking maneuvers and cause in­
jury.
Q) Tips
- Never stow the ski sack away when it is
still wet or damp (for example, snow
melting from skis). Allow it to dry com­
pletely before stowing it away .
- Position skis in the ski sack with the
pointed ends facing the front and ski
poles with the pointed ends facing the
rear.
Roof rack
Description and mounting locations
Additional cargo can be carried with a roof
luggage rack.

,. Always read and follow the instructions pro­
vided by the roof rack manufacturer when
installing the roof rack system .
If luggage or cargo is to be carried on the
roof, you must observe the following:
- To enhance the vehicle's streamlined design,
rain gutters have been molded into the roof.
It is not possible to use normal roof racks.
Only install a roof rack specifically designed for your model AB. Contact the nearest Audi
dealer for information on approved modular
roof racks for your vehicle.
- Only use roof racks approved for your vehi­
cle. These approved roof racks are the basis
for a complete roof rack system. Additional
attachments or carrier systems are needed
to transport luggage and sports equipment.
We recommend using roof racks from the
Audi original accessories program .
- When installing the roof rack, make sure it
is only mounted on the designated locations
on the roof~

- We recommend that you keep the installa­
tion instructions for your roof rack system
together with your Owner's literature in the
vehicle .
When should the roof rack be removed?
-Before going through an automatic car wash
(it is best to ask the car wash operator for
advice)
- When not in use, to reduce fuel consump­
tion, wind noise and to guard against theft .

-Use of an unapproved roof rack or incor­
rect mounting of an approved roof rack
can cause the roof rack or the items at­
tached to it to fall off the roof onto the
road.
- Objects falling from the roof of a vehicle
can cause a crash and personal injury.
- Only mount the roof rack on the desig­
nated locations on the roof¢

- The roof rack system must be installed
exactly according to the instructions pro­
vided.
- When driving with a roof rack system,
changes to the center of gravity and wind
resistance can change the vehicle han­
dling and lead to a collision. Always
adapt your driving and your speed to the
current conditions.

-Your vehicle warranty does not cover any
damages to the vehicle caused by using
roof racks or mount ing structures not
approved by Audi for your vehicle . The
same applies to damage resulting from i ncorrect roof rack installation .
- Always check the roof rack mountings
and hardware before each trip and dur ­
i ng a tr ip to make sure everythi ng is se­
curely tightened. If necessary, retighten
the mount ings and check the ent ire sys­
tem from t ime to t ime.
- After mounting a roof rack system, or
when you transport objects on the roof
of your veh icle, the height of the vehicle
is natura lly increased . Be careful when
driving under low bridges or in parking
garages for example. This could ca use
damage to the load and even the vehicle
i tself.
- Make sure the open rear lid and the sun­
roof* do not come into contact with the
roof rack .
Loading the roof rack
Always distribu te loads evenly. Make sure
any thing on the roof rock is securely tied
down .
.. Always distribute the loads on the roof rack

.. Always attach items to the roof rack securely
before you drive off .
The maximum perm iss ible roof weight is
220 lb (100 kg ). The roof weight is the to tal
of the weight of the roof rack, the attach ­
ments and the cargo you are carrying . You
must also not exceed the maximum load
weight for the roof rack you are using.
When us ing a roof rack system which has a
lower load carry ing capac ity, you must not use
up the total max imum pe rm iss ib le load ca rry­
ing capacity specified above. I nstead , you
should lo ad the roof rack sys tem only to the

maximum capacity specified by the manufac ­
turer of the roof rack syst em.
A WARNING
Weak , damaged or improper straps used
to secure items to the roof rack can fail
during hard braking or in a coll is ion and
cause ser ious persona l injury .
- Make sure the roof rack is installed exact­
ly as specif ied above

-Always use s uitable mount ing straps for
secur ing items to the roof rack to help
prevent items from sh ifting or flying for ­
ward .
- Items on the roof rack must always be
securely mounted .
- The use of a roof rack can negat ively af­
fect the way a veh icle hand les . Cargo
that is large, heavy, bulky, long or flat
will have a greater negat ive infl uence on
the vehicle's aerodynamics, center of grav ity and overall handling. Always
drive s lowly, avoid s udden braking and
maneuvers when transporting cargo on
the roof of your vehicle.
- Never exceed the maxim um permissible
load carrying capacity of the roof of your
vehicle, the permissible axle weights and the permissible total weight of your vehi­
cle

@ For the sa ke of the environment
As a result of the increased wind resist­
ance created by a roof rack, your vehicle is
u s ing fuel unnecessarily . So remove the
roof rack after using it .
