Opening and closing

— You are standing too close to the bumper or
too far away from it
— The luggage compartment lid was closed or
opened immediately beforehand
— You park close to a hedge and the branches
move back and forth under the vehicle for a
long period of time
— You clean your vehicle, for example with a
pressure washer or in a car wash
— There is heavy rain
— The bumper is very dirty, for example after
driving on salt-covered roads
— There is interference to the vehicle key's ra-
dio signal, such as from mobile devices or
remote controls

Child safety lock
The child safety lock prevents the rear doors
from being opened from the inside and the rear
power windows from being operated.

malfunctions in the radio, TV*, or vehicle
electrical system.
— The functions on some devices may be limit-
ed due to the low power output.
— With some power supply units, the integrat-
ed overcurrent protection may prevent it
from switching on. In this case, disconnect
the power supply unit from the electrical
equipment and reconnect after approxi-
mately 10 seconds.
@® Tips
Do not connect any other devices to the sock-
ets when using the compressor* provided by
the factory > page 317. The power consump-
tion in the sockets may be temporarily ex-
ceeded when using the compressor*.
Cup holders

> The cup holder (@) may be under a cover. To
open the cup holder, tap on the strip on the
cover.

> Fold the center armrest downward.
> To open the cup holder @), tap on the cover on
the front side.
> To close the cup holder, push the cup holder all
the way back into the slot.
Cup holders in the rear center console*
> To open the cup holders (8) in the rear center
console, tap on the cover.

ZA\ WARNING
— Do not put any hot beverages in the cup
holder while the vehicle is moving. Hot bev-
erages could spill, which increases the risk
of injury.
— Do not use any breakable beverage contain-
ers (for example, made out of glass or por-
celain). You could be injured by them in the
event of an accident.
® Note
Beverage containers in the cup holders should
always
have a lid. Otherwise, the liquid inside
could spill and cause damage to vehicle
equipment.

Folding tray tables

> Press the button forward on the center armrest
and fold the center armrest upward.
> Fold the tray table arm upright and all the way
forward @).
> Tilt the tray table toward the seat (2) and fold
the tray table to the side in the horizontal direc-
tion®.
> Slide the tray table outward @).
> Unfold the tray table. If necessary, the horizon-
tal angle of the tray table can be adjusted. To
do this, press the lever G) on the side of the
tray upward.

> To fold the table in, perform all of the steps in
reverse order.

ZA WARNING
— Do not open the folding tray table while
driving. In the event of an accident or sud-
den braking or swerving, passengers could
collide with the tray tables, and objects
placed on the tables could be thrown
through the vehicle interior, increasing the
risk of injury.
—To reduce the risk of pinching, open the
folding tray table carefully.
— Be careful when adjusting the front seats. To
reduce the risk of pinching, pay attention to
the rear passengers when the folding tray
tables are open.

Be very careful when adjusting the front seats
to avoid damaging the folding tray tables or
seats.
Storage area behind the rear head

Applies to: vehicles without rear center airbag:
The storage area can be used to carry light pieces
of clothing.



ZA WARNING
The storage compartment must not be used
to transport heavy objects, hard objects, or
animals. Such objects endanger vehicle occu-
pants and increase the risk of injury during
sudden driving or braking maneuvers or in an
accident.
C@) Note
Make sure that the heating grid strips for the
rear window defogger are not damaged by
abrasive objects.
G) Tips
To ensure the ventilation functions correctly,
the ventilation slots between the rear window
and the storage area must not be covered.

Driving

Combustion engine startup
Applies to: vehicles with plug-in hybrid drive
A haptic pressure point indicates when the com-
bustion engine will be started. The pressure point
is variable and depends on the high-voltage bat-
tery charge level.

© Maximum acceleration
Maximum acceleration
If you press the accelerator pedal all the way
down, the motor’s full power will be used and
you will reach maximum acceleration, also called
“kick-down”.
Applies to: vehicles with boost function: The elec-
tric motor can switch on for a brief period if the
accelerator pedal is pressed all the way down in
the “D” and “S” driving program. The availability
of this function depends on the charge level of
the high-voltage battery and the temperature of
the drive system components, among other
things.

Z\ WARNING
The driving wheels could spin and the vehicle
could swerve on slick or slippery road surfaces
when using kick-down, which increases the
risk of an accident.

Releasing the parking lock using the
emergency release
> Secure the vehicle against rolling > page 108.
> Pry the cover off at one of the openings using
the screwdriver from the vehicle tool kit
=> page 317.
> Insert the socket wrench from the vehicle tool
kit into the opening.
> Turn the socket wrench clockwise () until it
stops and press it downward @) until it locks in-
to place.
> Leave the socket wrench inserted.
Resetting the parking lock
> Grasp the socket wrench with both hands and
carefully pull it upward to remove.
> Install the cover.

Z\ WARNING
— The parking lock must be released using the
emergency release before towing the vehi-
cle.
— Only use the parking lock emergency release
if the vehicle is secured against rolling
= page 108. An unsecured vehicle may roll,
which increases the risk of an accident.
— Only activate the emergency release while
on a level surface or a slight slope.
—To reduce the risk of an accident, you must
not drive when the emergency release is ac-

tivated.
i Transmission: malfunction! Safely stop vehi-
cle

Do not continue driving. Stop the vehicle as soon
as possible in a safe location and secure it so it
does not roll > page 108. See an authorized Audi
dealer or authorized Audi Service Facility for as-
sistance.
Bi Transmission: too hot. Please stop vehicle >

The fuel filler door is unlocked or locked by the
central locking system.
>» Unlock the vehicle if necessary.
> Conventional drive system: Press on the left
side of the fuel filler door to open it > fig. 175.
> Plug-in hybrid drive: Pull on the EV switch in the
driver's door. The fuel filler door will open auto-
matically after venting is complete.
> Unscrew the tank cap counterclockwise.
> Place the cap from above on the open fuel filler
door > fig. 176.
> Plug-in hybrid drive: Note the information for
refueling at the end of this chapter.
> Insert the fuel pump nozzle all the way into the
fuel filler neck.
> Begin fueling. Once the fuel pump nozzle turns
off the first time, the fuel tank is full. Do not
continue fueling, or else the expansion space in
the tank will be filled with fuel.
> After the fuel pump has switched off, wait five
seconds before removing the nozzle to allow

the rest of the fuel to finish dripping into the
fuel tank.
> Turn the fuel cap clockwise until it clicks into
place.
> Close the fuel filler door and then press on the
left side until it latches.
The correct fuel type for your vehicle can be
found ona label located on the inside of the fuel
filler door. For additional information on fuel, see
=> page 269.
For the tank capacity in your vehicle, refer to the
Technical Data > page 344.
To reduce the risk of fuel leaking out or vapors
escaping, make sure that the fuel tank is closed
correctly. Otherwise the ES indicator light will
turn on.

Z\ WARNING
Improper fueling procedures and improper
handling of fuel can lead to explosions, fires,
severe burns, and other injuries.
— Do not smoke. Keep away from open flames.
— The ignition must be switched off when re-
fueling.
— Mobile devices, radio devices, and other ra-
dio equipment should always be switched
off when refueling. Electromagnetic rays
could cause sparks and start a fire.
— If you do not insert the fuel pump nozzle all
the way into the filler tube, then fuel can
leak out. Spilled fuel can ignite and start a
fire.
— Never get into the vehicle when refueling. If
there is an exceptional situation where you
must enter the vehicle, close the door and
touch a metal surface before touching the
fuel pump nozzle again. This will reduce the
risk of electrostatic discharge that can cause
flying sparks. Sparks can start a fire when
refueling.

Z\ WARNING
Audi does not recommend transporting fuel

containers inside the vehicle. Fuel could leak

Emergency assistance
General information
> Park the vehicle as far as possible from moving
traffic in the event of a breakdown. In the event
of a flat tire, park the vehicle ona level surface.
If you are ona steep hill, be especially careful.
> Set the parking brake.
> Switch the emergency flashers on.
> Have the passengers exit the vehicle. They
should move to a safe place, for example be-
hind a guard rail.

Conventional drive system: The vehicle tool kit,

of the cover and in the compartment under-

> Lift the cargo floor by the plastic handle
> fig. 191.
> Hook the handle into the luggage compart-
ment weather strip.
> Applies to: vehicles with spare tire: Turn the
handle counter-clockwise and remove the spare
tire.
> Unhook the cargo floor cover before closing the
luggage compartment lid.
Plug-in hybrid drive
> Open the cover using the handle > fig. 192.
Conventional drive system: Depending on the
equipment, the vehicle tool kit and the tire mobi-
lity kit* may be located under the spare tire*, un-
der another cover, or in the tool box.
Tips
— The vehicle jack* does not require any main-
tenance.
— Plug-in hybrid drive: The vehicle must not
be operated without a tire mobility kit.
Tire mobility kit
Applies to: vehicles with tire mobility kit
> Read and follow the important safety precau-
tions > page 317.
> Set the parking brake.
> Select the “P” position.
> Check if a repair with the tire mobility kit is pos-
sible > page 318.
