Head-up display

Head-up display
Description
Applies to: vehicles with head-up display
The head-up display projects certain warnings or
selected information from the assist systems on
the windshield. The display appears within the
driver's field of vision.
Switching on and off
The Y button is located in the function bar on
the lower display > page 18.
> To switch the head-up display on or off, press
and hold the Y button.
Settings in the Infotainment system
> Applies to: MMI: Select on the home screen:
SETTINGS > Display & brightness > Head-up
display, or
> Press the Y button.
Possible settings:
— Picture rotation
— Brightness
Display height
You can adjust the height of the display. Sit in the
correct seating position > page 55 and adjust
the head-up display.
Display content
You can set which information should be dis-
played. The display of certain information and
some of the red indicator lights cannot be hid-
den.
() Note
To reduce the risk of scratches on the glass
covering the head-up display, do not place any
objects in the projection opening.
@) Tips
— Sunglasses with polarization filters and un-
favorable lighting conditions can impair visi-
bility of the display.
— An optimal display depends on the seat po-
sition and the height adjustment of the
head-up display.
— A special windshield is needed for the head-
up display function.
— For information on cleaning, see > table In-
terior cleaning on page 265.
— Specific settings are stored automatically in
the active personal profile.

Warm and cold
Climate control system
Depending on vehicle equipment, your vehicle
may have an automatic climate control system
with:
— Two zones to individually adjust the tempera-
ture and air distribution for the left and right
front sides, or
— Four zones to individually adjust the tempera-
ture, air distribution, and amount of ventilation
at all of the seats.
The climate control system warms, cools, dehu-
midifies, and filters the air in the vehicle interior.
It is the most effective when the windows and
panoramic glass roof* are closed. If there is a
build-up of heat inside the vehicle, ventilation
can help to speed up the cooling process.
The climate control system automatically main-
tains a temperature once it has been set. In all
heating mode functions except defrost, the blow-
er only switches to a higher speed once the mo-
tor coolant has reached a certain temperature.
@ For the sake of the environment
Energy can be saved by switching off the A/C
mode.
@) Tips
—To prevent interference with the heating
and cooling output and to prevent the win-
dows from fogging over, the air intake in
front of the windshield must be free of ice,
snow, and leaves.
— Condensation from the cooling system can
drip and form a puddle of water under the
vehicle. This is normal and does not mean
there is a leak.
— The energy management system may tem-
porarily switch off certain functions, such as
the seat heating” or rear window defogger.
These systems are available again as soon as
the energy supply has been restored.

— Specific settings are stored automatically in
the active personal profile.

The settings are adjusted using both displays and
the switch panel in the center console along with
the control panel in the rear*. For operation in
the front, see > page 15, Touch displays.
You can adjust all climate control system settings
in the front; only certain functions are available
in the rear.
Lower display
The lower display has two sections with controls:
You can regulate the blower and the air distribu-
tion automatically using AUTO in area (@). You can
also apply individual settings here.
In area @, you can switch individual climate con-
trol system functions on and off.
Switch panel
Both & and & buttons to defog windows as
quickly as possible are located in section @).
Upper display
In the upper display, you can switch additional
functions on and off, display them, and adjust
settings.
> Applies to: MMI: Select on the home screen:
VEHICLE > Air conditioning, or
> Select -*- on the Lower display.
Control panel in rear*
You can operate certain climate control functions
in the rear using the control panel.

® Defrosting
The windshield and side windows are defrosted
or cleared of condensation as quickly as possible.
Align the outer air vents with the side windows.
The maximum amount of air flows mainly from
the vents below the windshield. Recirculation
mode switches off. The temperature should be
set at +72°F (22°C) or higher. Depending on the
outside temperature, the A/C cooling mode may
automatically switch on.
& Rear window defogger
The rear window defogger only operates when
the drive system running. It switches off auto-
matically after 10 to 20 minutes, depending on
the outside temperature.
To prevent the rear window defogger from
switching off automatically, press and hold & for
more than three seconds. This is stored until the
ignition is switched off.
AUTO
/& Recirculation mode
In recirculation mode, the air inside the vehicle is
circulated and filtered. This prevents the unfil-
tered air outside the vehicle from entering the
vehicle interior.
If you activate 3S, the air quality sensor will auto-
matically switch recirculation mode on or off de-
pending on the outside temperature.
If you activate &, recirculation mode will switch
on manually > A\.
«@ Seat heating
Applies
to: vehicles with heated seats
The seat heating temperature can be set at mul-
tiple levels. Press w once to switch on the highest
level. Press ) again to decrease the temperature
one level at a time. The seat heating is switched
off if the button is not illuminated.
2) Seat ventilation
Applies to: vehicles with seat ventilation
The seat ventilation intensity can be set to multi-
ple levels. Press ©) once to switch on the highest
level. Press 2) again to decrease the intensity one
level at a time. The seat ventilation is switched
off if the button is not illuminated.
@ Steering wheel heating
Applies to: vehicles with steering wheel heating
The steering wheel rim is heated electrically. You
can also operate the steering wheel heating us-
ing
the multifunction steering wheel > page 26.
& Child safety lock*
If 8 turns on in the control panel in the rear*, the
child safety lock is active and operation is blocked
> page 39.
»(% Ionizer
Applies to: vehicles with ionizer
Hazardous particles and germs in the air may be
reduced through ionization. This will produce
better air quality inside the vehicle.
&* Fragrance
Applies to: vehicles with fragrance function
The fragrance function will dispense a scent in
the vehicle interior. It is dispensed through the
front outer vents. This will produce a pleasant
scent. The fragrance is time-delayed, especially
at low or high temperatures. You can adjust the
fragrance function > page 84.

ZA WARNING
— You should not use the recirculation mode
for an extended period of time, because no
fresh air is drawn in and the windows can
fog when cooling mode is switched off. This
increases the risk of an accident.
— Individuals with reduced sensitivity to pain
or temperature could develop burns when
using the seat heating* function. To reduce
the risk of injury, these individuals should
not use seat heating*.
() Note
To reduce the risk of damage to the seat heat-
ing* elements, do not kneel on the seats or
place heavy pressure on one area of the seat.
@ Tips
— If the front passenger's seat heating” is
turned on, it will not turn on again automat-
ically if more than 10 minutes have passed

between switching the ignition off and on
again.
— Only use the fragrance function* in modera-
tion and take any other passengers and ani-
mals into consideration when using the
function.
— An overlap of different scents or odors could
cause discomfort.
— If there is discomfort, reduce the intensity
or switch the fragrance function* off.
— Only use fragrances that are approved by
Audi.
Adjusting the vents
You can open and close the vents using the
thumbwheels. The levers adjust the direction of
the airflow from the vents.
Additional settings
You can adjust additional settings.
> Applies to: MMI: Select on the home screen:
VEHICLE > Air conditioning > ©.
Fragrance
Applies to: vehicles with fragrance function
Using Fragrance selection, you can select the fra-
grance and see the fill level of the fragrance.
You can select the strength of the scent with Fra-
grance level.
Footwell temperature*
You can adjust the footwell temperature for the
driver and front passenger.

Applies to: vehicles with air quality display
You can display information about the air quality.
> Applies to: MMI: Select on the home screen:
VEHICLE > Air conditioning > Air quality.
Pollutant filter
A pollutant filter cleans the air in the vehicle inte-
rior when the blower is switched on.
A schematic display represents the effectiveness
of the filter. The display visualizes the amount of
pollutant particles in the vehicle interior in com-
parison to the surroundings.
G) Tips
For optimal air quality in the vehicle interior,
close all windows and doors and activate A/C
cooling mode, the AUTO function, and recircu-
lation mode.
Auxiliary climate control
Applies to: vehicles with auxiliary climate control
The auxiliary climate control switches on depend-
ing on the outside temperature and the tempera-
ture set in the climate control system. You can
switch the climate control on or off immediately
as well as set a timer in the MMI.
Requirement: the charge level of the high-volt-
age battery must be sufficient.
G) Tips
— The temperature that the auxiliary climate
control adjusts to depends on the last tem-
perature that was set.
— Using the auxiliary climate control while
charging can also reduce the charge level of
the high-voltage battery.
— Starting or stopping the vehicle will not
switch off the auxiliary climate control auto-
matically.
Applies to: vehicles with auxiliary climate control
Select on the home screen: VEHICLE > Air condi-
tioning > F
Immediate start
You can immediately switch the auxiliary climate
control on and off using the F button. When this
function is switched on, a colored bar lights up
over the button and the remaining time is dis-
played.

Radio

Requirement: the presets list must be displayed.
At least one preset must be stored.
> To delete a preset, select: Z > select one or
more stations or Select all > Delete > (Done).
Requirement: the presets list must be displayed.
At least two presets must be stored.
> To move a preset, press Z. Touch the $ symbol
and move the entry to the desired position.
Press Done.
Smart favorites
SiriusXM channels are stored in the presets as
smart favorites with the s% symbol. After switch-
ing the ignition and the MMI on, the smart favor-
ites store radio programs at a specific time. Press
ona smart favorite. You have the following op-
tions:
— Pause/Start: press I/D.
— Selecting the previous or next track: press !I<
or >i.
— Going to the beginning of a recording or live
program: press and hold !I< or >i.
— Setting the playback point: you can adjust the
playback position using the knob.
— Going to a live program: press [vé).
Applies to: vehicles with Audi connect Infotainment and on-
line radio
You can listen to various radio stations or pod-
casts on the Internet using online radio.
Requirement: the MMI must be connected to the
Internet > page 184, Audi connect.
> Applies to: MMI: Select on the home screen:
RADIO > Source > Online.
The following functions are available in the on-
line radio menu:
— Search: you only can search for online radio sta-
tions in this search. You can search for station
names and categories.
— Last played station: the station that was
played last will start playing.
— Top stations: select a station from the list of
popular online radio stations.
— Filtering the list: Select: © > (select a catego-
ry) > select a station name. The following cate-
gories are available:
— Countries
— Genres
— Languages
Other categories may be available depending on
the country and vehicle equipment.
Podcasts
— Applies to: MMI: Select on the home screen:
RADIO > Source > Online > Podcasts.
The following functions are available:
— Listening to a podcast: select: a podcast > a
podcast episode.
— Search: press 2.
The following functions are available in the pod-
cast playback view:
— Displaying the podcast episodes: press List.
— Starting or stopping the podcast: press P orl.
— Previous or next podcast: press K/D|, or use one
finger to drag the center of the display to the
left or right.
— Changing the playback point: you can adjust
the playback position using the knob.
— Displaying the online radio menu: press 5a.
— Switching to radio: press Source. The sources
in the Radio menu are displayed.
Podcast favorites
You can store podcasts in the Podcast favorites.
Storing a podcast favorite: requirement: the
podcast playback view must be displayed. Press
YX, or press Save podcast in the options
=> page 215, Options.
Requirement: at least one entry must be stored
in the Podcast favorites.
— Listening to a podcast favorite: press on the
desired podcast.
— Browsing podcast favorites: use your finger to
swipe to the Left or right.
— Displaying all podcast favorites: press All.
— Deleting a favorite: Select: All > Z > select one
or more podcasts or Select all > Delete >
(Done).

Radio

— First category, then channel name: the chan-
nels are sorted by their category and then by
their channel names.
SiriusXM category filter*
The stations shown in the station list can be fil-
tered by your personal preferences and by pro-
gram type. The program categories that you can
select depend on what is offered by your provid-
er. When the Unsubscribed channels function is
switched off, unsubscribed channels will be hid-
den.
SiriusXM subscription status*
This option is available when your subscription is
about to expire or has already expired. The expi-
ration date for your license is displayed.
Call SiriusXM: the telephone number and radio
ID of your satellite radio provider are displayed.
To call your satellite radio provider using the
MMI, press Call SiriusXM.
Troubleshooting
The information that follows lists some trouble-
shooting options. They depend on the equip-
ment.
Online additional data
Applies to: vehicles with Audi connect Infotainment
Requirement: the MMI must be connected to the
Internet > page 185.
When the function is switched on, additional in-
formation (such as station logos, cover, artist,
track) will be loaded depending on the availabili-
ty from the different providers.
Preferred online radio data rate
Applies to: vehicles with Audi connect Infotainment and on-
line radio
You can set the data rate for online radio
> page 213.
For optimal sound playback, press High. To re-
duce data usage, press Low.
