--When you leave your vehicle -even if on-
ly briefly· always remove the ignition
key . Th is app lies particularly when chil·
dren remain in the vehicle. Otherwise the
children could start the eng ine or oper­
ate electrical equ ipment (e.g. power w in­
dows). The power windows are function­
a l until the dr iver's door or passenger's
door has been opened.
- Pay close attention when closing the win­
dows to prevent p inching o f hands o r
limbs.
- When locking the vehicle from outside,
the vehicle must be unoccupied since the
windows can no longer be opened in an
emergency.
(I} Tips
After the igni tion has been switched off,
the w indows can still be opened or closed
for about 10 minutes . The power windows
are not switched off until the driver's door
or passenger's door has been opened.
Convenience opening/closing
The windows and the sunroof can be opened
and closed with the key.

Correcting power window malfunctions
After disconnecting the vehicle battery , the
one-touch up and down feature must be acti­
vated again.
.,. Pull the power window switch until the win­
dow is comp lete ly raised .
.,. Re lease the switch and pull it again for at
least one second.
.,. Press and hold the electric window sw itch
until the window is fully open .
.,. Re lease the switch and then press it again
for at least one second. You shou ld now be
able to close the window in the usual way.
Panorama sunroof

The button has two stages. In the second
stage, the roof automat ically runs to the end
pos ition (open/closed) when the button is op­
erated br iefly. The movement can be stopped
by pressing the button .

sunroof -otherwise serious injury could re­
sult! For this reason, a lways remove t he ig ­
nition key w hen leav ing the veh icle.

Always close your sunroof whe n leaving

age to the inter ior equipment of your vehi ­

I f the sun roof detec ts an objec t in its path
when it is closing, it will open again a utomat i­
cally. In this case, yo u can close the roof w it h
the power emergency closing function.

The instrument ill umination (for dia ls and
needles) lights on when the ig nition is
sw itched on and the vehicle lig hts are
t urned off. As the dayligh t fades, the ill u­
m ina tion of the dials likew ise dims auto­
matically and will go out comp lete ly when
the outside light is very low . This feat ure is
meant to remind you to switch on the
headlights when outside lig ht conditions
become poor.

Passenger exterior mirror tilt function*
To he lp you see the curb when ba ck ing into a
par king space, the surface of the mirror tilts
s li ght ly. The knob must be in the P posi tion
f or this to happen .
You can adjust the tilted m irror surface by
tu rning the knob in the desired direction.
When you move out of reverse and in to anoth­
er gear, the new m irror position is s to red and
ass igned to the key you are using.
T he m irror goes ba ck i nto its orig inal position
once you dr ive forward faster than 9 mph
(15 km/h) o r swi tch the ig nition off .
A WARNING
Curved m irror surfaces (co nvex o r spheri ­
cal*) increase your f ie ld of view. Remem­
ber that veh icles or other ob jects will ap­
p ear smaller a nd farther away tha n when
seen in a flat mirror . If you use t his mi rror

Front passenger's seat
Always move the front passenger seat into the rearmost position.
To avo id contact with the airbag while it is de­
ploying, do not sit any closer to the instru­
ment panel than necessary and always wear
the three-point safety belt provided adjusted
correctly. We recommend that you adjust the
passenger's seat in the fo llow ing manner:
.. Move the front passenger seat in to the rear­
most position of the fore and aft adjustment

Do not ride with the seat reclined.

I f you do this while the vehicle is moving,
you will be out of position. A lways ad just
the driver's or front passenger's seat
when the vehicle is not moving.
- Be careful when adjusting the seat
height. Check to see that no one is in the
way, or ser ious injury could result!
- Because the seats can be e lectrically ad­
justed with the ignition off or with the
ignit ion key removed, never leave chil­
dren unattended in the veh icle. Unsuper­
vised use of the electric seat adjust­ men ts may cause serious injury.
- To reduce the risk of injury in the case of
sudden b raking o r accident, front pas­
senge rs must never r ide in a mov ing ve­
hicle with the ba ckrest reclined. Sa fety
be lts and the airbag system on ly offer
maximum protection w hen the backrest
is upr ight and the safety belts are prop­
erly positioned on the body . The more
the backrest is reclined, the greater the
risk of persona l injury from an incorrect
seating position and improperly posi­
tioned safety belts.

A WARNING
T he ciga rette lighter only works when the
ign ition is on . Improper use can cause seri­
ous injury or start a fire. To avo id the r isk
of injury, nev er leave children unsupe r­
vised in the vehicle with the key.
12-volt sockets

The 12 -volt sockets can be used fo r electr ical
accessories. The power input must not exceed
120 watts.
There is an addi tional 12-vo lt socket in the
center console .
Before you purchase any accessories, always
read and fo llow the informa tion in
¢ page 239, Additional accessories and parts
r e plac em ent .
A WARNING
The power out lets and therefore the elec ­
trical accessories connected to them oper- ate only with the ignit
ion on. Improper use
of the outlets or of electrical accessories
can lead to ser ious injuries or cause a fire.
For this reason, children should never be
l eft unattended in the vehicle -they could
be injured!

To avoid damaging the socket, only use plugs that fit properly .
(D Tips
When the engine is off and accessories are
still plugged in and are on , the vehicle bat­
tery can still be drained .
Storage
General overview
A WARNING

-Always remove objects from the instru­
ment panel. Any items not put away
could slide around ins ide the veh icle
while driving or when ac cele rat ing o r
when applying the brakes or when dr iv­
ing arou nd a corne r.
- When you are dr iving make s ure that
an yth ing you may have pla ced in the cen­
ter conso le or other storage loca tions
cannot fall out into the footwe lls . In case
of sudden braking you would not be able
to brake or accelerate.
- Any pieces of clothing that you have
hung up must not i nterfere with the dr iv­
er's view. The coat hooks are des igned
only for lightweight cloth ing . Never hang
any cloth ing with hard, pointed o r heavy
objects in the pockets on the coat hoo ks .
During s udden braking or in an accident -
especia lly if t he a irbag is deployed -
these objec ts co uld in ju re any passen­
ge rs inside the ve hicl e.

Steering
Manually adjustable steering wheel
The steering wheel position is fully adjustable
up and down and forward and bock .

First, adjust the driver's seat correctly .
• Pull the lever

• Move the steer ing whee l to the desired posi­
t ion.
• Push the lever against the steering column
until it locks.
There must be at least 10 inches (25 cm) be­ tween your chest and the center of the steer­
ing wheel. If you cannot sit more than 10 in­
ches (25 cm) from the steering whee l, see if
adaptive equipment is available to help you reach the pedals and increase the distance
from the steering wheel.

A WARNING
Improper use of steeri ng wheel adjust­
ment and improper seating position can
cause serious personal injury.
- Adjust the steering whee l co lumn on ly
when the veh icle is not moving to pre­
vent loss of veh icle control.
- Adjust the driver's seat or steering wheel
so that there is a minimum of 10 inches
(25 cm) between your chest and the
steering wheel

yo u cannot mainta in this min imum dis- tance, the airbag system cannot protect
you proper ly.
- If physical limitations prevent you from
sitting 10 inches (25 cm) or more from
the steering wheel, check with your au­
thorized Audi dealer to see if adaptive equ ipment is ava ilable .
- If the steer ing wheel is aligned with your
face, the supplementa l driver's a irbag
cannot provide as much protection in an
accident . Always make sure that the
steer ing wheel is aligned with your
chest.
- Always hold the steering wheel w ith your
hands at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock posi­
tions to reduce the risk of persona l injury
if the driver's airbag dep loys .
- Never hold the stee ring wheel at the 12
o'clock position or with your hands inside
the steeri ng wheel rim or on the steering
wheel hub . Holding the steering wheel
the wrong way can cause serious injuries
to the hands, arms and head if the driv­
er's airbag deploys.

cou ld be operated . This can lead to seri­
o us injury .
- Never leave c hildren or persons requi ring
assistance unattended in the vehicle. The
doo rs can be locked using the remote
transmitter, preventing peop le from es­
caping from the vehicle on their own in
the event of an emergency. Depend ing
on the time of year, people inside the ve­
hicle can be exposed to very h igh or ve ry
low temperatures .

Avoid high engine rpm, full throttle and
heavy eng ine loads until the eng ine has
reached operat ing temperature -other­
w ise you risk engine damage.

-After starting a cold engine, there may be a brief period of increased no ise be­

in the hydraulic valve adjusters. This is
normal and not a cause for concern.

ger than two seconds .

-Never t urn off the engine before the ve­
h icle has come to a complete stop . The
full function of the brake booster and the power steering is not guaranteed. You
must use more force to turn or brake if
necessary . Because you cannot steer and
brake as you usually would, this could
lead to crashes and serious injur ies .
- For safety reasons, you should always
park your vehicle with the se lector lever
in P. Otherwise, the ve hicl e co uld inad­
vertent ly roll away.
- The rad iator fan can continue to run for
up to 10 min utes even after you have
t urned off the eng ine and removed the
ignition key . The radiator fan can also
turn on again if the engine coolant heats
