ployment all locked doors will be auto­
matically unlocked to give access to the

function, you can lock the driver's door

- You are well advised not to keep valua­
bles inside an unattended vehicle, visible
or not . Even a properly locked vehicle
cannot provide the security of a safe.
- If the LED in the upper edge of the driv­
er's door panel comes on for about 30
seconds after the vehicle is locked, there
i s a ma lfunction in the power locking or
the anti-theft warning system. Have the
malfunction corrected by an authorized
Audi dealership or qualified repair facili­
ty.

Key replacement
If you lose a key, contact your authorized Audi
dealer immediate ly to have the
lost key disa­
bled. Be sure to bring all your keys with you.
Number of keys
You can check how many keys are initialised
for yo ur vehicle on the instrument cluster dis­
play. It is displayed wh ile you are setting the
time
c:> page 23. For example, 1/2 means that
one of two keys have been initialised for the.
This allows you to make sure you have re­
ce ived all of the keys when you purchase a
u sed vehicle.
A WARNING
--
-Do not leave your vehicle unattended
with the key in the ignition lock. Entry by
unauthorized persons could endanger
you o r result in theft or damage the vehi­
cle.
- Do not leave children unattended in the
veh icle, especially with access to vehicle
keys . Unguarded access to the keys pro­
vides children the opportunity to start
the engine and/or activate vehicle sys­
tems such as the power windows etc. Un­
supervised operation of any vehicle sys­
tem by children can result in serious in­
jury .
- Do not remove the key from the ign ition
lock until the vehicle has come to a com­
plete stop. Otherwise the steering col­
umn lock could suddenly engage -caus­
ing the risk of an accident.

electronic engine immobilizer and permit
an unauthorized person to start the engine

- The vehicle cannot be started if an unau­
thorized key is used . The vehicle may not
start if another radio device such as a key
fo r another vehicle o r a transpo nder is

ing . Never tra nsp o rt objects larger than
those which fit complete ly into the lug­
gage area, beca use the n the rear lid can­
not be f ully closed.
- Never leave your vehicle unattended es­
pecia lly with the rear lid left open. A
chi ld cou ld craw l into the car through the
luggage compartment and pu ll the lid
shut, becoming trapped a nd unable to
get out. To reduce the risk of personal i n­
jury, never let children play in or a round
your veh icle. Always keep the rea r lid as
well as the vehi cle doors closed when not
in use.
- A lways ensure that no one is wi thin
range of the re ar lid when it is moving, in
particular close to the hinges - fingers or
hands can be pinched .

--When you leave your vehicle -even if on-
ly briefly· always remove the ignition
key . Th is app lies particularly when chil·
dren remain in the vehicle. Otherwise the
children could start the eng ine or oper­
ate electrical equ ipment (e.g. power w in­
dows). The power windows are function­
a l until the dr iver's door or passenger's
door has been opened.
- Pay close attention when closing the win­
dows to prevent p inching o f hands o r
limbs.
- When locking the vehicle from outside,
the vehicle must be unoccupied since the
windows can no longer be opened in an
emergency.
(I} Tips
After the igni tion has been switched off,
the w indows can still be opened or closed
for about 10 minutes . The power windows
are not switched off until the driver's door
or passenger's door has been opened.
Convenience opening/closing
The windows and the sunroof can be opened
and closed with the key.

be trapped. If you release the key, the
closing action is immed iately canceled .

Correcting power window malfunctions
After disconnecting the vehicle battery , the
one-touch up and down feature must be acti­
vated again.
.,. Pull the power window switch until the win­
dow is comp lete ly raised .
.,. Re lease the switch and pull it again for at
least one second.
.,. Press and hold the electric window sw itch
until the window is fully open .
.,. Re lease the switch and then press it again
for at least one second. You shou ld now be
able to close the window in the usual way.
Panorama sunroof

The button has two stages. In the second
stage, the roof automat ically runs to the end
pos ition (open/closed) when the button is op­
erated br iefly. The movement can be stopped
by pressing the button .

when changing lanes, you could estimate incorrectly and cause an accident.
(D Note
- If the mirror housing is moved uninten­
tionally (for example, while parking your
vehicle), then you must first fold the mir­ ror electrically. Do not readjust the mir­
ror housing manually. You could damage
the motor which controls the mirror .
- If you wash the vehicle in an automatic
car wash, you must fold the exterior mir­
rors in to reduce the risk of damage to
the mirrors. Never fold power folding ex­
terior mirrors* by hand. Only fold them
in and out using the power controls.
@ Tips
If there should be a malfunction in the
electrical system, you can still adjust the
exterior mirrors by pressing the edge of
the mirror ..

A WARNING
Electrolyte fluid can leak from automatic
dimming mirrors if the glass is broken.
Electrolyte fluid can irritate skin, eyes and
respiratory system.
- Repeated or prolonged exposure to elec­ trolyte can cause irritation to the respira­
tory system, especially among people
with asthma or other respiratory condi­
tions. Get fresh air immediately by leav­
ing the vehicle or, if that is not possible,
open windows and doors all the way.
- If electrolyte gets into the eyes, flush
them thoroughly with large amounts of clean water for at least 15 minutes; medical attention is recommended.
- If electrolyte contacts skin, flush affect­
ed area with clean water for at least 15
minutes and then wash affected area
with soap and water; medical attention is recommended. Thoroughly wash af­
fected clothing and shoes before reuse.
- If swallowed and person is conscious,
rinse mouth with water for at least 15
minutes. Do not induce vomiting unless
instructed to do so by medical professio­
ncil. Get medical attention immediately.
(D Note
Liquid electrolyte leaking from broken mir­
ror glass will damage any plastic surfaces
it comes in contact with. Clean up spilled
electrolyte immediately with clean water
and a sponge.
(D Tips
-Switching off the dimming function of
the inside rear view mirror also deacti­
vates the automatic dimming function of
the exterior mirrors.
- Automatic dimming for the mirror only
operates properly if the light striking the
inside mirror is not hindered by other ob­
jects.
- The automatic dimming mirrors do not
dim when the interior lighting is turned
on or the reverse gear is selected.

can be pulled out of the ir brackets in the cen­
ter of the vehicle and turned towards the

Move the windshield wiper lever to the cor re­
spond ing pos ition:

(D -Interval mode. To extend/shorten the
wipe r intervals, move the switch @to the
l eft/r ight . In vehicles with a ra in sensor* the
wipers turn on in the rain once the vehicle
speed exceeds approximately 2 mph (4 km/h).
The higher the sensit iv ity of the ra in sensor* is
set (switch @to the right), t he earlier the
windshield wipers react to moisture on the
windshield .
@ -Slow w iping
@ -Fast wip ing
@ -Sing le wipe . If you ho ld the lever in this
position, the wipe rs will switch from slow con­
tin uous wiping to fast cont inuous wiping after
a while.
® -C lean the w indshie ld. To elim ina te water
droplets, the windshield wiper performs one
afterwipe operation after severa l seconds
whi le driving. You can sw itch this function
off
by moving the lever to posit ion ® within 10
seconds of the afterwipe operat ion. The after­
wipe function is reactivated the next t ime the
ignition is sw itched on.
® -Rear wipe. The rear w indow is wiped ap­
proximately every 6 seconds.
(j) -Rear wash/wipe . The n umber of wiper cy­
cles depends on how long you hold the lever
in position
(J) .

-The rain sensor is only intended to assist
the dr iver. T he d river is st ill responsib le
for manually switching the wipers on ac­
cording to the visibility cond itio ns.
- The windsh ield may not be treated with
wate r-repell ing windsh ield coating
agen ts. Un favo rable cond it ions, such as
wetnes s, dark ness, low su n, c an result in
i n creased glare. Wipe r blade cha tter is
also possib le .

wiper system must be switched

s hi eld wipers is automatically red uced by
one speed .
Cleaning windshield wiper blades
Clean the windshield wiper blades whe n they
begin to leave streaks . Use a soft cloth and
g lass cleaner to clean the windsh ield wiper
b lades .

The cupholders in the door pockets are suita­
ble for 1 to 1.5-liter bottles.

- Never carry any beverage containers with
hot liquids, such as hot coffee or hot tea,
in the vehicle while it is moving. In case
of an accident, sudden braking or other
vehicle movement, hot liquid could spill,
causing scalding burns. Spilled hot liquid
can also cause an accident and personal injury . -
Use only soft cups in the cupholder. Hard
cups and glasses can cause injury in an
accident.

Additional storage
There are a variety of storage compartments
and fasteners in various places in the vehicle .
- In the front center console.
- At the front end of the front seats*. You can
store objects weighing up to 1.5 kg in the
drawer and objec ts weighing up to 1 kg in
the hinged compartment .
- In the door trim.
- Coat hooks next to and above the rear doors.
- Nets* on the backrests of the front seats.
- Coat hooks/retaining hooks in the luggage
compartment.
A WARNING
- When driving, do not leave any hard ob­
jects on the rear window shelf or allow
your pet to sit on the shelf. They could become a hazard for vehicle occupants in
the event of sudden braking or a crash .
- Always remove objects from the instru­
ment panel. Any items not stored could
slide around inside the vehicle while driv ­
ing or when accelerating or when apply­ ing the brakes or when driving around a
corner .
- When you are driving make sure that
anything you may have placed in the cen­
ter console or other storage locations
cannot fall out into the footwells. In case
of sudden braking you would not be able
to brake or accelerate.
- Any articles of clothing that you have
hung up must not interfere with the driv­
er's view. The coat hooks are designed
only for lightweight clothing. Never hang

any clothing with hard, pointed or heavy
objects in the pockets on the coat hooks.
During sudden braking or in an accident -
especially if the airbag is deployed -
these objects could injure any passen­
gers inside the vehicle .
- To reduce the r isk of personal injury in an
acc ident or sudden stop, always keep the
glove compartment closed while driving.
- Read and follow all WARNINGS
Q page 129, Important safety instruc­
tions on the side airbag system.
- Hang clothes in such a way that they do
not impair the driver's v ision.
- The coat hooks must only be used for
lightwe ight cloth ing . Do not leave any
heavy o r sharp edged objects in the pock­
ets which may interfere with the side cur­
tain a irbag deployment and can cause
persona l injury in a crash .
- Do not use coat hangers for hanging
clothing on the coat hooks as this can in­
terfere with proper dep loyment of the
side curtain airbags in an accident .
- Do not hang heavy objects on the coat
hooks, as they cou ld cause persona l in­
jury in a sudden stop.
- Always keep the compartment above the
rearview mirror closed whi le driving to
reduce the risk of injury in the event of
sudden braking maneuvers or a collision.

Objects located on the rear shelf that rub
against the rear w indow cou ld damage the
heating wires for the rear window defog­
ger.
@ T ips
- A vent slot is located between the shelf
and the rear window. Do not b lock the
vent with any items you may place on the rear window shelf.
- Do not p lace bulky items on the rear w in­
dow shelf as they could restrict or b lock
the driver's vis ion in the rear view mirro r.

Additional cargo can be carried with a roof
luggage rack.

.,. Always read and follow the instructions pro­
vided by the roof rack manufacturer when
installing the roof rack system .
If luggage or cargo is to be carried on the
roof, you must observe the following:
- On ly use roof racks approved for your vehi­
cle. These approved roof racks are the basis
for a complete roof rack system. Additional attachments or carr ier systems are needed
to transport luggage and sports equipment .
We recommend using roof racks from the
Audi original accessories program.
- When installing the roof rack, make sure it
is only mounted on the designated locations
on the roof

tion instructions for your roof rack system
together with your Owner's literature in the
veh icle .

Warm and cold Climate control
Description
The climate control system warms, cools and
adds humidity to the a ir in the veh icle inter io r.
It is the most effect ive when the windows and
sunroof are closed . If the re is a build-up of
h eat inside the vehicle, ventilation can help to
speed up the cooling process .
Condensat ion from the cooling sys tem can
drip and form a puddle of water under the ve­
hicle. This is normal and does not mean there
is a leak .
Pollution filter
The po llution filte r removes impuri ties, such
as dus t and po llen, from the air.
The air pollutants filter must be changed at
the intervals spec ified in you r Wa rra nty
&
M aintenance book let, so tha t the air condi­
tioner can prope rly work .
If you drive your vehicle in an area with h igh
a ir po llution, the fi lter may need to be
changed more frequent ly than specified in
your Aud i Warr anty
& Ma intenance booklet. If
in doubt, ask your authorized A udi Service Ad ­
visor for advice .
A WARNING
Reduced visibility is dangero us and can
cause accidents.
-
- For safe dr iv ing it is very important that
all windows be free of ice, snow and con­
densation.

proper use and f unct ion of the heat ing
a nd venti lation system and especially
how to defog and defrost the w indows.
- Never use the windshield wiper/washer
system in freez ing weather unt il you
have warmed the w indshield first, using
the heating and ve ntilation system. The
washer sol ution may freeze on the wi nd­
shie ld and re duce visib ility.

- If you suspect that the air conditioner
has been damaged, switch t he system
off to avoid furt her damage and have it
in spec ted by a q ual ified dea lership.
- Repairs to the Audi air conditioner re­
quire specia l te ch nical know ledge and

dea ler fo r ass istance.

B y reducing the a mou nt of f uel you use,
you also reduce the amount of pollu tants
emitted in to the air.

are available again as soon as the energy
