Removing the cargo floor, installing
.. To remove, lift the cargo floor folded together
and pull it toward the rear lid.
.. To install, place the folded cargo floor into both
retainers and unfo ld it.
Grab the protective tray on the hand les and pull
it out. You can also install a divider to divide@
the storage area. Depending on the vehicle
equipment level, the protective tray can have dif­
ferent si zes and shapes.

A WARNING
Do not use the storage hooks to secure heavy
objects . Heavier objects are not adequately
secured . There is risk of personal injury.

Roof rack
Description
Additional cargo can be carried with a roof lug­
gage rack .
If luggage or cargo is to be carried on the roof,
you must observe the following:
- On ly a specially designed roof rack may be used
on your vehicle roof . This is provided with your
vehicle .
- These roof racks are the basis for a compl ete
roof rack system. Additional attachments are
necessary if you want to transport luggage, bi·
cycles, surf boards and skis. All these compo­
nents are available at your authorized Audi
dea le r.
(D Note
If you use other roof luggage rack systems or
do not install the racks as intended, any dam ­
age to the veh icle is not covered by the war­
r anty. Always read the manufacturer installa­
tion instructions that came with your roof
rack system when you install the attach­
ments.
(D Tips
When installin g a factory-supplied roof rack
system on the roof railing, the ESC will adapt
it self to a different center of gravity.
Attachment point s
The roof rack can only be attached at the
marked locations.

Attach the roof rack only at the attachment
points on the roof railing. On the inside of the
roof railing there are two holes for attaching the
rear end of the roof rack. To prevent confusing
the front and rear roof rack attachments, there are three holes on the left and two holes on the
right for mounting the front part of the roof rack
q fig. 81.
The roof racks have a sticker on the left side un­
derneath to identify front and rear.
A WARNING
When installing the roof rack, make sure the
st icker is on the left side of the vehicle and
faces the stamped arrow in the drive direc­
tion.

The roof rack set consists of a front and rear roof
rack, the cover profi le and a socket wrench .
• Open the cap
(D q fig . 83 .
• Before mounting the roof rack, use the socket
wrench @and loosen the left and right screw
in the direction of@ .

• Clean the attachment points on the roof railing
as well as the roof rack rubber washers @.
• Carefully place the roof rack over the holes in
the roof railing

• Place the pins @ into the holes. The claw ®
must engage into the edge of the roof railing .
"' Make sure the rubber washer@ lays flat on the
roof railing .
"' Tighten the left and right screws using the
socket wrench @ in direct ion @.
"' To reach the
4 ft lb (6 Nm) tightening specifi­
cation needed, both arrows on the socket
wrench must align.
"' Repeat this procedure on the second roof rack.
A WARNING
Check all the roof rack connections each time
before each trip and re-tighten or re-adjust if
necessary. If you are going to be driving or
rough terrain, you will have to check the at­
tachments more often. If you do not do this,
the risk of you r luggage coming loose and
falling off is greater.
(D Note
The pins and the roof rack claws must engage
securely into the holes and into the edge of
the roof railing when you tighten the screws!
(0 Tips
You can adjust the width of the roof rack by
using a hexagon wrench and turning the
screws on the top. Let you r authorized Audi
dealer help you with this.

.. Remove the cap @¢ fig. 84.
.. Slide the attachment into the T -groove (V .
.. Tighten the attachment accord ing to the roof
rack installation instructions.
.. Close the cap .

.. Seal the openings in the T-groove 0 with the
cover profile @ after having installing the at­
tachments .
.. If you not want to use the attachment, seal the
whole T-groove
0 with the cover profile @.
.. Cut the cover profile to the length needed, if
necessary .
Roof load
The cargo on the roof must be securely attached.
Handling characteristics change when cargo is transported .
The permissible roof load for your vehicle is
165 lbs (75 kg ). The roof load is the total of the
weight of the roof rack, the attachments and the
cargo you are carry ing .
.,&. WARNING
-The cargo must be secure ly attached on the
roof rack, otherwise you r is k an acc ident .
- Distribute the load as evenly as possible and
do not make the roof rack wider than the
maximum permitted.
- You must under no circumstances exceed
the permiss ible roof load, the permissib le
axle loads and the permissib le overall
weight of your vehicle - risk of an accident.
- Mount the attachments to the roof rack on ly
afte r you have placed the roof rack on the
vehicle.
- Cons ider tha t when transport ing heavy ob­
jects or one wi th a la rge surface, the han­
dling characteristics change due to shift in
the center of gravity or the greater surface
exposed to the wind. So adapt your driving
and your speed to prevailing condit ions . We
recommend that you do not drive faster
than 80 mph (130 km/h) .

- Mounting a roof rack changes the height of
your veh icle. Keep this in mind when parking
your veh icle in your garage, or when driving
through a tunnel or under an overpass .
(D Note
-Make sure the rear lid does not hit the cargo
on the roof rack when you open it. On
vehicles with automat ic rear lid/trunk lid
operation* you may have to adjust the open
posit ion of the rear lid ¢
page 44 .
-Remove the roof rack and attachment be­
fore taking your vehicle through an auto ­
matic car wash to avoid damage .
@ For the sake of the environment
As a result of the increased wind resistance
created by a roof rack, your vehicle is using
fuel unnecessarily. So remove the roof rack af­
te r using it .

Opening rear beverage holders
• To open the rear cupholder, press on the sym­
bol~ @¢

Holding beverages at the rear
• To adjust the arm@, swing it in the direction
of the arrow.
• Place the beverage in the holder and release
the arm. The arm swings back by itself and au­
tomatically secures the beverage.
Closing the rear cupholders
• To close the rear cupholder, press on the center
section between the two arms and push the cu­
pholder in the slot as far as it will go.
The holding arm must be adjusted such that it lies closely against the cupholder.
A maximum of two beverages can be placed in
the center armrest.
A WARNING
Spilled hot liquid can cause an accident and
personal injury.
- Never carry any beverage containers with
hot liquids, such as hot coffee or hot tea, in
the vehicle while it is moving. In case of an
accident, sudden braking or other vehicle
movement, hot liquid could spill, causing
scald ing burns. Spilled hot liquid can also
cause an accident and personal injury.
- Use only soft cups in the cupholder. Hard
cups and glasses can cause injury in an acci­
dent.
- Never use the cupholder or adapter as an
ashtray -risk of fire.
(D Note
Only drink containe rs with lids should be car­
ried in the cupholder. Liquid could spill out
and damage your vehicle's electronic equip­
ment or stain the upholstery, etc.

Climatized cupholders
Applies to vehicles: wit h climatized beverage holde rs
The driver side beverage holder can keep your
beverage warm or cold.

• To switch between the two functions, press the
appropriate button .
.,. Press @ or© to switch off these feature. The
light in the button will go out.
When cooling, the temperature of the beverage holder base will go down to approximately 41 °F
(5
°(). When warming, the temperature will be
approximately 136 °F (58 °(). At 104 °F (40 °()
the warming display will come on @. This is re­
minder not to touch the base because it is hot .
The display goes out if the temperature falls be­
low this value.
A WARNING
- Never touch the beverage holder base when
the warming display is on. You can burn
yourself!
- Do not use breakable beverage containers
(for example made out of glass or porce­
lain). You could be injured by them in case of
an accident.
(D Note
Make sure your beverage holder has a lid. If
not, your beverage could spill out and cause
damage to the vehicle electronic or stain the
seat covers.

cause that could prevent the beverage holder
from functioning correctly.
Cupholders in the door pockets
There is a cupholder in all four doors.

The cupholders in the door pockets are suitable
for 1 to 1.5-liter bottles.
& WARNING

.. Remove the cigarette lighter when it pops out.
The c igarette lighter should only be used as a
power source for the compressor from the i nflat­
able spare tire/tire repair kit* when absolutely
necessary.
A WARNING
The cigarette lighter only works when the ig ­
nition is switched on. Incorrect usage can lead
to serious injuries or burns. For this reason,
children should never be left unattended in
the vehicle because this increases the risk of
injury .
12-volt sockets
Electrical accessories can be connected to every
12-volt socket.

.. Insert the plug of the electrical device into the
socket.
The 12-volt sockets can be used for electrical ac­
cessories . The power input must not exceed 120
watts .

There is an additional 12 -volt socket in the center
console .
Before you purchase any accessories, always read
and follow the information in¢
page 283, Addi­
tional accessories and parts replacement.
A WARNING
The power outlets and therefore the electrical
accessories connected to them operate only
with the ignition on . Improper use of the out­
lets or of electrical accessories can lead to se­
rious injuries or cause a fire . For this reason,
children should never be left unattended in
the veh icle -they could be injured!
(D Note
To avoid damaging the socket, only use plugs
that fit properly.
(D Tips
When the engine is off and accessories are
still plugged in and are on, the vehicle battery
can still be drained .

_& WARNING
-Always remove objects from the instrument
panel. Any items not put away could slide
around inside the vehicle while dr iving or
when accelerating or when applying the brakes or when dr iv ing aro und a corner .
- When you are driving make sure that any­
thi ng you may have placed in the cente r con­
so le or other storage loca tions cannot fall
o ut into the footwells. I n case of sudden
braking you would not be able to brake or
acce lerate .
- Any pieces of cloth ing that you have hung
up must not interfere with the driver's view .
The coat hooks are designed only for light­
weight cloth ing . Never hang any clothing
with hard, pointed or heavy objects in the
pockets on the coat hooks. During sudden
braking or in an acc ident -especially if the
airbag is deployed -these objects could in­
jure any passengers ins ide the veh icle.
Glove compartment
The glove comportment is illuminated and con
be locked .

On the right side in the glove compartment is a
ho lder with the key body into which the emergen­
cy key must be clipped to be able to start the ve ­
hicle.
_& WARNING
To reduce the risk of personal inj ury in an acci­
dent or sudde n stop, always keep the glove
compartmen t closed while dr iv ing .
Cooling box in glove compartment
The cooling box works only when the air-condi­
tioning is in cooling mode.

ing maneuver or in the event of an accident.

-Hang clothes in such a way that they do not
impair the driver's vision.
- The coat hooks must only be used for light­
weight clothing. Do not leave any heavy or
sharp edged objects in the pockets which
may interfere with the s ide curtain airbag
deployment and can cause personal injury in
a crash.
- Do not use coat hangers for hanging cloth­
ing on the coat hooks as this can interfere

with proper deployment of the side curtain
airbags in an accident.
- Do not hang heavy objects on the coat
hooks, as they could cause personal injury in
a sudden stop.

Warm and cold
Warm and cold Climate control system
Description
The climate control system warms, cools and
adds humidity to the air in the vehicle interior. It
is the most effective when the windows and pan­
oramic sliding sunroof* are closed . If there is a
build-up of heat inside the vehicle, ventilation
can help to speed up the cooling proc ess.
In all heating mode functions except
defrost, the
blower only switches to a higher speed once the
engine coolant has reached a certain tempera­
ture.
Condensation from the cooling system can drip
and form a puddle of water under the vehicle.
This is normal and does not mean there is a leak.
Pollutant filter
The pollutant filter removes pollutants such as
dust and pollen from the air.
The air pollutants filter must be changed at the
intervals specified in your Warranty & Mainte­
nance booklet, so that the air conditioner can
properly work.
If you drive your vehicle in an area with high air pollution , the filter may need to be changed
more frequently than specified in your Audi War­
ranty
& Maintenance booklet. If in doubt, ask
your authorized Audi Service Advisor for advice.
Key coded settings
The climate control settings are automatically
stored and assigned to the remote control key
that is in use .
.8, WARNING
Reduced visibility is dangerous and can cause
accidents.
- For safe driving it is very important that all
windows be free of ice, snow and condensa­
tion.

- Completely familiarize yourself with the
proper use and function of the heating and
ventilation system and especially how to de­
fog and defrost the windows .
- Never use the windshield wiper/washer sys­
tem in freezing weather until you have
warmed the windshield first, using the heat­
ing and ventilation system . The washer solu­
tion may freeze on the windshield and re­
duce visibility .
(D Note
-If you suspect that the air conditioner has
been damaged, switch the system off to
avoid further damage and have it inspected
by a qualified dealership.
- Repairs to the Audi air conditioner require
special technical knowledge and special
tools. Contact an authorized Audi dealer for
assistance.
@ For the sake of the environment
By reducing the amount of fuel you use, you
also reduce the amount of pollutants emitted
into the air.
(D Tips
-Keep the air intake slots (in front of the
windshield) free from ice, snow and debris
in order to maintain the proper function of
the climate control system.
- The energy management system may switch
the seat heating* or rear window defroster
off temporarily. These systems are available
again as soon as the energy balance has
been restored.
- The air flowing out of the vents and
throughout the vehicle's entire interior is
discharged at the rear of the vehicle. Make
sure that the outlet slots are not covered by clothing, etc.

Warm and cold
[i] Adjusting seat heating*
Pressing the but ton switches the seat heating on
at the highest setting (level 3). The LEDs indicate
the temperat ure leve l. To red uce the tempera­
ture, press the button again. To switch the seat heating off, press the button repeatedly until the
LED turns off.
After
10 minutes, the seat heating automatica lly
switches from leve l
3 to leve l 2.
lil Adjusting seat ventilation*
Press ing the button switches the seat ventilation
on at the highest setting ( leve l
3). The LEDs ind i­
cate the venti lation level. To reduce the venti la ­
tion level, press the button aga in. To switch the
seat ventilation off, press the button repeatedly
until the L ED turns off.
l(;I> FRONT I S w itch the d efroster on/off
The windshield and s ide windows are defrosted
or cleared of condensation as quickly as possible.
The maximum amo unt of air flows mainly from
the vents below the windshield. Recirculation
mode switches off. The temperature should be
set to 72 °F (22 °C) or higher. The temperature is
cont ro lled automatically .
The
IAUTOI button switches the defroster off.

The rear window heater only operates when the
engine is running. It switches off automatically
after a few m inutes, depending on the outs ide
temperature .
To prevent the rear window heater from switch ­
ing off automatically, press and hold the
!lliD REARI
button for more than 2 seconds. This rema ins
stored unt il the ignition is switched off.
Air vent s
You can open and close the center and rea r air
vents using the thumbwheels. The levers adjust
the direction of the airflow from the vents .
You can adjust the air temperatu re in the rear by
turning the thumbwheel toward the red side to

make it wa rmer or towa rd the blue side to make
it coo ler .
A WARNING
- Do not use the recircu lation for extended
periods of time. The windows could fog up
since no fresh air can enter the vehicle. If
the windows fog up, press the air rec ircula ­
tion button again immed iately to sw itch off
the air recircu lation function or se lect de­
frost.
- Individuals w ith reduced sensitivity to pain
or temperatu re could develop burns when
using the seat heating* function . T o reduce
the r isk of in ju ry, these indiv iduals should
no t use seat hea ting.
(D Note
To avoid damage to the heat ing e lements* in
the seats, do not kneel on the sea ts or place
h eavy loads on a sma ll are a of the seat .

ed in the radio or MMI".

Automatic recirculation
When switched on, automat ic recirculation con­
trols the recirculation mode automatically . If the

Synchronization
When synchronization is switched on, the same
settings are applied to both the driver and front passenger, except for the seat heating/ventila­
t ion* . Synchron izat ion switches off when you ad­
just the settings on the front passenge r's side.
You can also switch synchronization on by press -
