Resetting the service interval display
Your authorized Audi dealer w ill reset the cor­
responding service schedule after performing
the appropriate service on your vehicle. You
a lso have the possibility to reset the oi l
change schedule after having performed an
oil change according to Audi specifications.
Select
I CAR I function button > Systems* con­
trol button >
Service interval display > Reset
oil change interval
or ICARI function button>
Car systems* control button > Servicing &
checks > Service intervals > Reset oil change
interval.
(D Note
- Only reset the o il change d isp lay when
you have completed an oil change.
- If you d isconnect the battery terminals,
no calculations can be made for the serv­
i ce interval display during this time and
no service reminder will appear. Remem­
ber that observing the proper service in­
terva ls is vitally important to extending
the life of your vehicle, particularly the
engine, and maintaining its value. Do not
exceed the time interval for the next
serv ice, even if the vehicle mileage is
low .
(D Tips
The informat ion in the Serv ice Reminder
remains stored even when the vehicle bat­
tery is disconnected .
Trip computer
Introduction
The trip computer gives you information on
current and average fuel mileage, average
speed, fuel range and driving time.

The following dr iving informa tion is con tinu­
ous ly evaluated by the trip computer and can
be displayed sequentially in the instrument
cluster disp lay.
Fuel range
T he es timated cruis ing range in miles ( km)
appea rs in the display. This tells you how far
your vehicle will be ab le to travel on the c ur­
rent tank of fuel and with the same driving
style. The display changes in increments of
Smiles (10 km).
T he cruising range is calculated based on the
fuel consumption for the last 18 miles
(30 km). If you drive conservative ly, the cruis­
ing range will increase.
Average fuel mileage
The average fuel economy in MPG (l/100 km)
since you last cleared the memory appears in
this disp lay. You can use this display to adjust
your driving technique to achieve a desired
mileage.
Current fuel mileage
The instantaneous fuel consumption in m iles
per gallon ( l/100 km) is shown in this display.
You can use this display to adjust your driving
technique to achieve a desired m ileage .

Fue l consumption is reca lculated at interva ls
of 33 yards (30 meters). When the vehicle is
stationary, the most recent fue l consumption
is displayed .
Average speed
The average speed in mph (km/h) since the
l ast time the disp lay was reset appears in the
display .
Elapsed time
The length of time that you have been driving
since you last reset the memory appears in
this display.
Distance
The distance that has been covered since the
l ast time the memory was cleared appears in
the disp lay.
(D Tips
- Fuel consumptions (ave rage and cur­
rent), range and speed are displayed in
metric units on Canadian models.
-All stored va lues w ill be lost if the veh i­
cle battery is disconnected .
Memories
The trip computer is equipped with two fully
automatic memories as well as an efficiency
program".

Single-trip memory (Trip computer 1)
The single-trip memory stores the trip infor­
mation from the time the ignition is turned on
until it is turned off. If the trip is continued
within 2 hours from the time the ignition was
turned off, the new data will be included in
the calculat ion of the current trip informa­
tion. If the trip is interrupted for
more than 2
hours
the memory is reset automatically.
Total-trip memory (Trip computer 2)
Unlike the single -trip memory, the total -trip
memory is not reset automat ical ly. This per­
mits you to evaluate your driv ing data for the
entire period between manua l resets.

The efficiency program can help you to use

Operation
The trip computer is controlled by two
switches on the windshield wiper lever .

The t rip computer w ill not operate unless the
ignition is on. When you turn on the ignition,
the function that was in use when you last
turned the ignit ion off will be d isp layed .
I n addi tion to informa tion abo ut the trip com­
puter (trip computer 1, 2 and the efficiency
prog ram*), information about other systems
can also be shown in the display. To switch the
d isp lay between the d ifferent information,
tap the I RESET! button @ briefly.
Resetting values to z ero
• Se lect a va lue in the desired trip computer
or in the efficiency program* .
• Press and ho ld the I RESE T
I button @for at
least one second. All va lues in the selected
trip computer or in the eff iciency program*
are reset to zero .
If the data in trip compute r 1 are deleted,
then the values in the efficiency program* will
a lso be reset.
W ith some vehicle equipment leve ls, the va l­
ues for the s ingle trip or total tr ip memory
can also be reset in the MMI
c::;, page 26.
@ Tips
All stored values will be lost if the vehicle
battery is disconnected.
MMI settings
Basic settings for the trip computer con be
mode in the MM I.
• Se lect : ICAR !funct io n but ton> Systems *
control button > Instrument cluster > On­
board computer 1 or On -boa rd computer 2.
The val ues in the single -trip or the to tal-tr ip
memory can a ll be reset to zero at t he same

With a priority 1 malfunction, a large symbol
appears in the center area of the display

0 Alternator malfunction
If the . symbol in the instrument panel dis­
play flashes, then there is a malfunction in the
alternator o r the vehicle elect ronics. A warn­
ing to the driver will appear, too . The driver
warning goes out after about 5 seconds, but it
can be brought up at any time by pressing the
ICHECK I button aga in.
Usually, you can still drive to the next deale r­
ship . Turn off all but the most necessary elec­
trical consumers, since these drain the vehi­
cle's battery.

When a yel low warning symbol appears, one
warn ing tone sounds . A dr iver message ap­

bo l if the maste r key is removed from the ve­
hi cle with the engine running . It is intended
to remind you (e.g . when changing drivers)
not to continue the journey without the mas­
ter key .
I f the master key is no longer in the vehicle,
you cannot switch off the ignition after stop­ p ing the engine and yo u also cannot start the
engine again. What is more, you cannot lock
the vehicle from the outside.

The transmitter and battery a re located in the
head of the remote control. The receiver is lo­
cated inside the vehicle. The maxim um effec ­
tive range depends on several things. Remem­
ber, if the battery is weak, the effective range
decrease s.
If you need to replace the remote contro l, or if
you need to have it repaired, you must see
your author ized Audi dealer. Only then can
you use the key again .
Personalizing the ma ster key
When t he ignit ion is t urned off or when the
veh icle is locked, vari ous conven ience settings
are stored automatically and assigned to the
key that was used . The settings that are as­
signed to the maste r key are recalled auto ­
ma ticall y when the veh icle is unlocked, when
the door is opened o r when th e ignition is
sw itched on .
Sett ings are saved for the following systems :
- Climate control
- Central lock ing
-W indows
- Am bien ce light ing*
- Seat memory*
- Steering w heel heat ing*
- Adaptive cruise control*
- Audi side ass ist*
- Pa rking system*
The
Remote control key f unc tion mus t be ac­

page 77, so that the
set tings for the driver 's seat (i ncluding the
settings for the steering co lumn and exter ior
mirrors) are saved on the master key through
the seat memory when the vehicle is locked,
and a re set automatically when the ve hicle is
u nl ocked.

If
the vehicle is w it hi n range of the key, the
c heck light comes on br iefly once when a b ut­
ton is pressed .
Vehicle outside the range of the key
If
t he vehicle is ou ts id e the r ange of the key,
the check light comes on brie fly once and
then shows the status of the vehicle door l ocks:
- If the ligh t is fla shin g qu ickl y, the vehicle is
no t locke d.
- If the ligh t is f lash ing slow ly, the vehicle is
loc ked .
State of master key battery
If
t h e ch ec k light does not come on, the bat­
te ry is d ead and has to b e re pla ced . In ad di­
tio n, w hen the b attery is dea d the !! symbol

Please note that the current state of the
veh icle door locks can only be recalled with
the master key that was last used to lock
the vehicle . It is possible that a different
state is shown for the door locks on the
other master key wh ich is not the same as
that of the vehicle .
Master key battery replacement
Each master key contains a battery housed
under the cover .

.. Remove the cover (arrow) .
.. Remove the dead battery from the cover.
.. Install the new battery. Please make certain
that the" +" sign on the battery faces down
in the cover . Correct polarity is shown on the
cover .
.. Place the cover with the new battery on the
key base and press both parts together.
@ For the sake of the environment
Dispose of dead batteries properly so as
not to po llute the environment.
@ Tips
The replacement battery must be the
same specification as the or iginal.
Electronic immobilizer
T he immobilizer helps to prevent unauthor­
ized use of your vehicle .
A computer chip in side your key automatically
deac tivate s the elec tronic immob ilizer when
you insert the key in the ignition lock , or on
vehicles with Convenience key*, when the key
is ins ide the veh icle. When you remove the key
from the ignition lock, or on vehicles with
Convenience key, when you remove the key
from the vehicle, the electronic immobilizer is
automatica lly activated once again.
WARNING
Always take the key with you when you
l eave the vehicle. The key can disarm the
electronic engine immobilizer and permit
an unauthorized person to start the engine
and enable operation of the vehicle sys­
tems such as power w indow or Panoramic
slid ing sunroof* leading to serious person­
al injury.
u) Tips
-The vehicle cannot be started if an unau­
thorized key is used . The vehicle may not
start if another radio device such as a key
for another vehicle or a transponder is
located on the key ring.

- If the vehicle battery charge drops below
a certain level, you can still open or close
the rear lid manua lly, howeve r, you will
need to app ly more force to close it .
- As soon as the electrical connection to
the trailer socket is comp leted on
vehicles with a factory installed towing
hitch, or a trailer hitch that was installed
l ater accord ing to factory spec ificat ions,
the automatic rear lid function can only be ope rated v ia the handle in the rear lid.
Rear lid emergency unlocking
If the rear lid cannot be opened , an emergen­
cy release is provided .

The power child safety lock t prevents the
rear doors from being opened from the in ­
side .

~ Press th e left and/or right safety b utton to
disab le the rear power w indow(s) and pre­
vent the respect ive rear door from being
opened from the i nside. The LED in the but­
ton will light up when the child safety lock is
turned
on .
~ Press the illum ina ted button again to turn
the chil d safety featu res
off .
When the c hild safety lock is activated, the in ­
te rior door opening lever is inoperat ive; the
doo r ca n only b e opened from th e outside . In
addition, the window reg ulator for that doo r
is a lso inoperative when the child s afety lock
is activa ted.
If the ch ild safety loc k has been ac tivated on
o ne or both sides, the butto ns in the rear for
the Panoramic slid ing su nroof* are disabled .
If the child safety lock has been act ivated on
the left
and on the right side , the rear con­
t ro ls are locked on veh icles with rear a ir-condi­
tio ning *. Dashes " ••• " are show n in t he dis­
plays for the rear climate contro ls , and the
rear ai r-conditioning can on ly be operated
from the climate controls in the cabin

When a door is unlocked, the driver 's door is
a lways unlocked as we ll.
It depends on the
settings in the central locking menu in the
MMI whether the entire vehicle is unlocked or
only certain doors ¢
page 44.
{O) Tips
If your vehicle has been stand ing for an ex­
tended period, please note the following:
- The proximity sensors are deactivated af-
ter a few days to save power. You then
have to pull on the door handle once to
unlock the vehicle and a second time to
open the veh icle.
- To prevent the battery from being dis­
charged and to preserve your veh icle's
ability to start for as long as possible,
the energy management system gradu­
a lly switches off unnecessary co nven­
i ence f unct io ns.
It is possible that you
will not be able to unlock your vehicle us­
ing these convenience f unctions.
Locking the vehicle
A ppl ies to vehicles: with Conve nie nce key
The vehicle can be locked without operating
the master key.

The vehicle can be locked at any door. The au­
thor ized master key on ly has to be within a
range of about 5 feet (1.5 meters) from the
pa rticular door . T
he selec tor lever must be in the P position,
otherwise the ve hicle cannot be locked .
A WARNING
--When you lock yo ur vehicle from o utside,
nobody - espec ia lly children - shou ld re­
main inside the vehicle. Remember,
when you lock the vehicle from the out­
side the wi ndows cannot be opened from
the inside.
- When you leave the veh icle, always re­
move the ign ition key and take it with
you. This will prevent passengers (chil­
d ren, fo r ex ample) from acci dentally be­
i n g lo cked in the vehicle shou ld they acci­
denta lly press the power locking switch
in the front doors.
- Do not leave ch ildren inside the vehicle
unsupervised. In an emergency it would
be impossible to open the doors from
the o utside witho ut the key.
(J} Tips
It i s no t possible to re -open the doo r fo r a
brief pe riod directly after closing it. This
allows you to ensure that the doo rs are
properly locked.
Anti-theft alarm system
The anti-theft alarm triggers an alarm if any­
one attempts to break into the vehicle.
The anti-theft alarm system triggers an audi­
ble ala rm and turns on the emergency flashe r
if an unautho rized interfe rence with the veh i­
cl e is sensed by the sys tem.
How is the anti-theft alarm system
switched on?
T he anti-theft alarm system is switched on
whe n you lock the ve hicle. The system is ac ti­
vated approximate ly 30 seconds after the ve­
hicle is locked. The indicato r ligh t on top o f
the door trim start flashing rapid ly for 30 sec -
onds and then blink slowly. ..,.
