h) because this increases the risk of an ac­
cident. Observe any laws specific to the

General information
Regular, proper ca re helps to maintain your ve hi­
cle's value. It can a lso be a requirement when
submitting warranty claims fo r cor rosion damage
and pa int defects on the body.
The requ ired cleaning and care p roducts can be
obtained from an authorized Audi dea le r or au ­
thor iz ed Se rvice Facility . Read and follow the in ­
structions for use on the packaging .

Car washes
T he longer that deposits s uch as insects, bird
d roppings, tree sap or road salt remain on the ve­
h icle, the more the surface can be damaged. High
temperatures such as those ca used by sun light
in crease the damag ing effect .
Before washing, r inse off heavy depos its with
p le nty of water.
St ubborn deposits s uch as bird d roppings or tree
sap are best removed with plenty of wate r and a
m icr ofibe r cloth.
A lso, wash t he un derside of yo ur vehicle once
road sa lt stops being used for the seaso n.
Pressure washers
When washing your ve hicle wit h a pressu re wash­
e r, al ways fo llow the operating instr uctions pro ­
v ided wi th t he p ress ure washer. This is espe cially
i mportant in rega rd to the p ressure and sp raying
d istance . Do not aim the sp ray directly at the

brushes .
Washing by hand

Washing vehicles with matte finish paint by
hand

cl e. Insects, grease spots and finger prints are
best removed w ith a s pecial cleane r fo r matte
f inish paint.
Apply t he p rodu ct using a microf iber cloth . To
avo id damag ing t he pa in t surface, do no t use too
much pressure.

General information
.. Par k the vehicle as far as poss ible from moving
traff ic in the event of a breakdown. In the event
of a flat tire, park the vehicle on a leve l surface .
It you are on a steep h ill, be especially careful.
.. Set the parking brake .

.. Have the passengers exit the veh icle . They
sho uld move to a safe place, for example be­
hind a guard rail.

The vehicle tool kit, vehicle jack, tire mobility kit
and comp ressor are s to red in the luggage com­
pa rtment unde r the cargo floor cove r. Lift the
cargo floor using the handle.
& WARNING
Impro per use of the vehicle jac k can ca use se­
rious perso nal injuries.
- Never use the screw drive r hex he ad to
tigh ten whee l bolts, since the bol ts cannot
atta in the necessary tighten ing torque if you
use the hex head, potentially ca using an ac­
c ident.
- The factory-supplied jack is i nten ded on ly
for your vehicle model. Under no circ um­
stances should it be used to lift heavy
vehicles or other loads; you r isk injuring
yourself.
- Never start the engine whe n the vehicle is
ra ised, which could ca use a n accident.
- Support the veh icle secure ly with appropr i­
ate stands if work is to be performed under-

neath the vehicle; otherwise, there is a po­
tential risk for injury.
- Never use the jack supplied with your Audi
on another vehicle, particularly on a heavier
one. The jack is only su itable for use on the
veh icle it came with.

Bulbs
Replacing light bulbs
For your safety, we recommend that you have
your authorized Audi dealer replace any bulbs for
you.
I t is becoming increasing ly more and more diffi ­
cult to replace vehicle light bulbs since in many
cases, other parts of the car must first be re­ moved before you are able to get to the bulb.
This applies espec ially to the light bulbs in the
front of your car wh ich you can only reach
through the eng ine compartment.
Sheet metal and bulb ho lders can have sharp
edges that can cause ser ious cuts, parts must be
correctly taken apart and then properly put back
together to help prevent breakage of parts and long term damage from water that can enter
housings that have not been proper ly resea led.
For your safety, we recommend that you have
your author ized Audi dealer replace any bulbs for
you, s ince your dealer has the proper tools, the
correct bulbs and the expert ise.

Due to the high e lectrica l voltage, have the bulbs
rep laced by a qualified technician. Headlights
with Xenon light are identif ied by the high volt ­
age sticker.
LED h eadlights*
LE D headlights requ ire no maintenance. Please
contact your author ized Audi dealer if a bulb
needs to be rep laced.
& WARNING
Changing Xenon lamps without the necessary
equipment can cause serious personal injury.
- Bulbs are pressurized and can exp lode when
being changed. Potential risk of injury!
- On veh icles equipped with gas discharge
bulbs (Xenon light) life -threatening injuries
can result from improper handling of the high-vo ltage portions of such lamps!
- On ly your authorized A udi dealer or quali­
fied workshop shou ld change the bulbs in
gas discharge lamps. There are parts with
sharp edges on the openings and on the bulb holders that can cause serious cuts . If
you are uncerta in about what to do, have
the work performed by an authorized Audi
dea le r o r qualified workshop. Ser ious per­
sonal injury may result from improperly per­
formed work.

- If you still prefer to replace the light bulbs

emission regulations and safety standards.
Therefore, vehicles built for the U.S.A. and Cana­
da differ from vehicles sold in other countries.
If you p lan to take you r vehicle outside the conti­
nenta l limits of the United States or Canada,

- un leaded fue ls for vehicles with catalytic con­
verter may not be available;
- fuel may have a conside rably lower octane rat­
ing . Improper fuel may cause engine damage;
- service may be inadequate due to lack of proper

Maintenance
General
Your vehicle has been designed to help keep
maintenance requirements to a minimum. How­
ever, a certain amount of regular maintenance is
still necessary to assure your vehicle's safety,
economy and reliab ility . For detailed vehicle
maintenance consult your Warranty & Mainte­
nance booklet .
Under difficult operating conditions, for exam­
ple at extremely low outside temperatures, in
very dusty regions, when tow ing a trailer very fre­
quently, etc., some service wo rk shou ld be per­
formed between the intervals specified. This ap­
plies particularly to:
- oil changes, and
- cleaning or replac ing the a ir filter .

A WARNING
-Ser ious personal injury may occur as a result
of improperly performed maintenance, ad­
justments or repairs .
- Always be extreme ly careful when work ing
on the vehicle . Always follow commonly ac­
cepted safety practices and general com­ mon sense. Never r is k personal in jury.

- Do not do any work wi thout the prope r tools

done by your authorized Audi dealer or an ­
other properly equipped and qualified work­
shop.
- The engine compartment of any motor vehi ­
cle is a potentially hazardous area . Never
reach into the area around or touch the radi­
ator fan. It is temperature controlled and
can switch on suddenly - even when the en­
gine is off and the ignition key has been re­
moved. The rad iator fan switches on auto­
mat ically when the coolant reaches a certain
temperature and will con tinue to run until
the coolant temperat ure drops.
- Always remove the igni tion key before any­
one gets under the vehicle.
- Always support your vehicle with safety
stands if it is necessary to work underneath
the vehicle. The jack* s upplied w ith the vehi­
cle is no t ad equate for th is pu rpose and
could collapse causing se rious personal in ­
jury .
- If you must work underneath the vehicle
with the wheels on the ground, always make
sure the vehicle is on level ground, that the
wheels a re always sec urely blocked and that
the engine cannot be started.
- Always make sure the transmission se lector
lever (automatic t ransm iss ion) is in P (Park
position) and the park b rake is applied .
