Opening and closing
-The LED in the driver's door rail blinks when
you lock the vehicle . If the LED lights up for
approximately 30 seconds after locking,
there is a malfunction in the central locking
system. Have the problem corrected by an
authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi
Service Fac ility.

Replacing a key
If a key is lost, see an authorized Audi dealer or
author ized Audi Service Facility. Have this key de­
activated . It is important to bring all keys wit h
you . If a key is lost, you should report it to your
insu rance company .
Number of keys
You can check the number of keys ass igned to
your vehicle in the Infotainment system. To do this, select the
I MENU ! button> Vehicle> left
control button >
Service & checks > Vehicle in-

formation . This way, you can make sure that you
have all the keys when purchasing a used vehicle.
Electronic immobilizer
The immobilizer p revents unauthorized use of
the vehicl e.
Under certain circumstances, the vehicle may not
be able to start if there is a key from a different
vehicle manufacturer on the key chain .
Data in the master key
When driving, service and maintenance-relevant
data is cont inuous ly stored in your remote con­
trol key. Your Audi se rvice advisor can read out
th is data and tell you about the work your vehicle
needs . T his applies also to veh icles w ith a con­
venience key*.
Personal convenience settings
If two people use one vehicle, it is recommended
that each person always uses their own remote
control key. When the ignition is turned off or
when the vehicle is locked, pe rsonal convenience
settings for the following systems are stored and
ass igned to the remote master key.

Move the windshield wiper lever to the corre­
sponding position:
@ -Windshield wipers off
(D-Rain sensor mode. The windshield wipers
switch on once the vehicle speed exceeds approx­
imately 2 mph (4 km/h) and it is raining. The
higher the sensitivity of the rain sensor that is set (switch ® to the right), the earlier the wind­
shield wipers react to moisture on the wind­
shield. You can deactivate the rain sensor mode
in the Infotainment system , which switches the
intermittent mode on. To do this, select:

button > Vehicle > left control button > Driver
assistance
> Rain sensor . In intermittent mode,
you can adjust the interval time using the switch
®·
@ -Slow wiping
®-Fast wiping
©-Single wipe. If you hold the lever in this posi­
tion longer, the wipers switch from slow wiping
to fast wiping .

®-Clean the w indshield. The wipers wipe one
time after several seconds of driving to remove
water droplets. You can switch this function off
by moving the lever to position ® within 10 sec­
onds of the afterwipe . The afterwipe function is
reactivated the next time you switch the ignition
on .
Clean the headlights*. The headlight washer sys­
tem* operates only when the low beam head­ lights are on . If you move the lever to position
@, the headlights and the night v is ion assist
camera* are cleaned at intervals.
®-Wipe the rear window. The number of wipes
depends on the windshield wiper movement .
The rear wiper automatically switches on when
the reverse gear is selected and the front wind­
shield wipers are on and running.
(f) -Clean the rear window . The number of wipes
depends on how long the lever is held in position
(f) .
A WARNING
-The rain sensor is only intended to assist the
driver . The driver may still be responsible
for manually switching the wipers on based on visibility conditions.
- The windsh ield may not be treated with wa­
ter-repelling windshield coating agents. Un­
favorable conditions, such as wetness, dark­
ness or low sun, can result in increased
glare, which increases the risk of an acci­
dent. Wiper blade chatter is also possible.
- Properly functioning windshield wiper
blades are required for a clear view and safe
driving

-If there is frost, make sure the windshield
wiper blades are not frozen to the wind­
shield. Switching on the windshield wipers
when the blades are frozen to the wind­
shield can damage the wiper blades.
- The windshield wiper system must be
switched off (lever in position 0) before us­
ing a car wash. This prevents the w ipers

- In some situations, rear cross-traffic assist may warn you even if there is no cross traffic

- The system is not available when towing a
trailer.

Night vision assist
Description
Applies to: vehicles with night vision assist
The night vision assist can detect, highlight and,
if necessary, warn about pedestrians and large
wild animals.
N ight vision assist he lps yo u when it is dark by
u sing an infra red camera to mon itor the area in
front of your ve hicle, w ith in the limits of the sys­
tem . It ca n disp lay objects up to a distance of ap­
prox ima tely 1 000 feet (300 m). The thermal im ­
age de te cte d by t he came ra is show n in t he in ­
str ument cluster disp lay . Wa rm areas appear
li ghter and co ld areas a ppear da rker.

that are between approximately 32 feet (10 m)
and 295 feet (90 m) in front of the vehicle and
within the detection zone. Within the limits of

If there are pedestrians or wild an imals in an
area in front of your vehicle that is classified as
critical, the system will direct your attention to
th is:
- Pedestrians or wild anima ls are highlighted in
red in the instrument cluster and the corre­
sponding symbol. or. turns on

-There is also an audible signal.
The area classified as critical is based on the veh i­
cle speed and the steeri ng wheel angle . Pedes­
trian and wi ld animal warning enco urages you to
pay more attention .
If the night vision assist image is rep laced by an­
othe r display (such as the on-board compute r),
the red. or. in dicator light
c::> fig. 123 will
appear if there is a pedestr ian or wild anima l
warning.

If the head-up display* is switched on and the
night vision assist content is activated, . or.
will appear in the head-up display*.
Marking light*
To direct the driver's attention to a pedestrian,
the headlights can flash on the pedestrian three
times in a row when there is a pedestrian warn­ ing.
This occurs at speeds above approximately
35 mph (60 km/h) if you are outside of illuminat­
ed areas and no detected vehicles are shown. The
high beam assistant* controls the marking
light* <=>
page 44.
The marking light is not used for wild animals.
General information

The following situations may affect the function
of the night vision assist system:
- Poor visibility such as snow, rain, fog or heavy spray
- Dirty lens on the night vision assist camera
Make sure the night vision camera <=>
fig. 124 is
not covered by stickers, deposits or any other ob­
structions because this can impair the night vi­
sion assist function . For information on cleaning,
see<=>
page 351 .
The pedestrian and wild animal recognition de­
pends on the temperature difference between
the person/wild animal and the background . Peo -
~ ple/wild animals may not be detected if the dif-,.....
~ ference is too small. The pedestrian/wild animal N
8 marking and the marking light* deactivate at 0 :E ' Assistance systems
temperatures above approximately 77 °F (25 °C)
and during daylight. If the night vision assist im­
age is selected in the instrument cluster display,
then the
II symbol appears at the top on the
right side.
A WARNING
-Pay attention to traffic and the area around
your vehicle when night vision assist is switch­
ed on. The driver is always responsible for as­
sessing the traffic situation.
- Night vision assist can only warn about peo­
ple and wild animals located within the visu­
al range of the infrared camera. The visual
range corresponds to the image in the in­
strument cluster display.
- Night vision assist may not detect people or
wild animals and mark them if
- they are not in an upright position, for ex­
ample if they are sitting or lying down
and/or
- the silhouette in the display appears in­
complete or interrupted, for example be­
cause the person is partially covered by a
parked vehicle or an animal is covered by
tall grass. This could increase the risk of
an accident.
- Never try to swerve around animals if doing
so will endanger you or other road users, be­
cause this increases the risk of an accident.
@ Tips
- Even though the system evaluates the
shape and heat given off by all detected ob­
jects, there are limits to the system . There
may be false warnings.
- For technical reasons, the image pauses in
split second intervals.

Introduction
App lies to: vehicles with Aud i drive se lect
Drive select makes it possible to exper ience dif­
ferent types of vehicle sett ings in one veh icle .
You can select the d riving modes
Offroad * or
Lift / Offroad *, Allroad *, Comfort , Auto and Dy ­
namic
in the Infota inment system, for example
to switch from a sporty to a comfo rtable driving
mode. In the
I ndividual mode, the settings can
be adjusted to your personal preferences. This
makes it possible to combine sett ings such as a
sporty engine setting with light steer ing .
Description
Applies to: vehicles with Audi drive select
The following systems, among other th ings, are

Engine and automatic tran smis sion
Depend ing on the mode, the engine and auto ­
matic transmission respond more quickly or in a
more balanced manner to accelerator pedal
movements . In the sporty
Dynam ic mode, the
transm iss ion shifts at higher speed ranges .

Intelligent Technology Electronic stabilization
control (ESC)
Description
Elect ronic stabili zation control ( ESC) suppo rts
driver safety. It red uces the risk of slipping and
improves dr iving stabi lity. ESC detects crit ica l sit­
uations such as when the vehicle is overstee ring
and understeer ing or the wheels a re spinning.
The vehicle is stabilized by applying the brakes or
reducing eng ine torq ue. When t he ESC engages,
the
D.1 ind icator lig ht blinks in the ins trument
cluste r.
The fo llow ing systems are in tegrated in the ESC:
Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
ABS p reve nts the whee ls from lock ing whe n brak ­
ing. The vehicle can st ill be steered even d uring
hard brak ing. Apply steady press ure to the bra ke
pedal. Do not pump the pedal. A puls ing in t he
b rake pedal indicates that the system is act ing to
s tabili ze the vehicle .
Brake assist system
The brake assist system can decrease brak ing dis­
tance. It inc reases brak ing power when the d river
presses the brake pedal q uick ly in eme rgency sit­
uations . You must press and hold t he b rake pedal
until the dangerous si tuatio n is ove r. In veh icles
w ith adapt ive c ruise con trol*, the bra ke assist
sys te m is more sensitive if t he di stan ce detec ted
t o the veh icle dr iv ing a head is too small.
O n ve hicl es w ith ac tiva ted and funct io ni ng night
vision assist*, the b rake ass ist system ca n re­
spon d mo re sens it ively if there is a w arn ing.
Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR)
ASR red uces eng ine power when the drive wheels
beg in sp inning a nd adap ts the force to the road
conditions . This makes it easie r to start, acceler­
ate and dr ive u p hill s.
Electronic differential lock (EDL)
EDL applies the brakes to a wheel that sta rts
sp inning and transfers the drive power to t he

othe r driving whee ls. This func tion is no t ava ila ­
ble at higher s peeds .
I n extre me cases , EDL au tomat ic al ly swi tches off
to keep t he b rake o n the br aked whee l from ove r­
h eating. The ve hicle is still wo rking co rrect ly. EDL
will switc h on agai n automatically when condi ­
tions have returned to normal.
Power steering
The ES C ca n also support veh icle st ability
t hr ough stee ring .
Selective wheel torque control
Selective w heel to rque con trol is used when d riv­
i ng on curves. Bra king is targeted towa rd t he
whee ls on the ins ide of the cu rve as needed . T his
a llows mo re pre cise dr iv ing in curves .
Automatic post -collision braking system
The "automat ic post -coll is io n braking system"
can hel p t o reduce the risk of sl iding and of addi­
tiona l co llisions after an acc iden t. If th e a irbag
c ontro l modu le de tects a collision, t he ve hicle is
bra ked by th e ESC.
The veh icle does not brake automatically if :
- the drive r presses t he acce lerator pedal, or
- the ESC, the brake system or the ve hicle elect ri-
cal system are not functioning.
A WARNING
- The ESC and its integ rated systems can not
overcom e the lim its impos ed by natura l
p hys ica l laws . Thi s is es pec ially impo rtan t
on s lippery or w et roa ds. If th e sys tems be­
g in a cting to s tabili ze y our v ehicle, you
s hould immedi ately alter your speed to
mat ch the ro ad and traffic condition s. D o
not let the i ncreased safety provide d tem pt
you into taking risks . This could increase
your r is k of a coll is io n.
- Please note the r is k of a col lision increases
w hen dr iv in g fast, especia lly t hrough c urves
a nd on s lippery or wet roa ds, an d when dr iv­
ing too close to objects ahead. The ESC and
its integrated sys tems ca nnot always pre­
v en t co llisions -there is st ill a risk of acc i­
dents!
