General information

Depending on your vehicle 's equipment , various
parking aids will help you when parking and ma­
ne uvering.

-Always look for t raff ic and check the area
around your vehicle by looking at it direct ly
as well. The parking system cannot replace
the driver's attention . The driver is always
responsib le when entering or leaving a park­
ing space and during similar maneuvers.
- Please note that some surfaces, such as
clothing, are not detected by the system.
-
-Sensors and cameras have blind spots in
which people and objects cannot be detect­
ed . Be especially caut ious of small children
and animals.
- Always keep your eyes on the vehicle 's sur­
round ings, using the rearview mirror as
well.
- The sensors can be displaced by impacts or
damage to the radiator gr ille, bumper,
wheel housing and the underbody . The park ­
ing system may be impa ired as a result .

@ Note
-Some objects are not detected or disp layed
by the system under certain circumstances:
- objects such as barrier chains, trailer draw
bars, vertical poles or fences
- objects above the sensors such as wall ex­
tensions
- objects with certain surfaces or structures
such as cha in link fences or powder snow
- If you continue driving closer to a low ob­
ject, it may disappear from the sensor range . Note that you will no longer be
warned about th is obstacle .
- Keep enough distance from the curb to re­
duce the risk of damage to the rims .
(D Tips
-The system may provide a warning even
though there are no obstacles in the cover­
age area in some situations, such as :
- certa in road s urfaces or whe n the re is tall
grass
- externa l ult rasonic sources such as from
cleaning vehicles
- in heavy rain, snow, or th ick vehicle ex­
ha ust
- We recommend that you practice par king in
a traffic -free location o r parking lot to be­
come familiar with the system . When doing
this, there shou ld be good light and weath­
er conditions.
- You can change the vo lume of the signa ls
and the display ¢
page 140.
-Please refer to the instructions for towing a
trai ler located in
¢ page 141.
-What appea rs in the infotainment d isplay is
somewhat time -de layed.
- T he sensors m ust be kept clean and free of
snow and ice for the parking aid to operate .

Wheels and T ires
General information
~check your tires regularly for
damage (punctures, cuts, cracks
and bulges). Remove foreign ob ­
jects from the tire tread.
~ If driving over curbs or similar
obstacles, drive slowly and ap­ proach the curb at an angle.
~Have faulty tires or rims re­
placed immediately.
~ Protect your tires from oil,
grease and fuel.
~ Mark tires before removing
them so that the same running
direction can be maintained if
they are reinstalled.
~Lay tires flat when storing and
store them in a cool, dry location
with as little exposure to light as
possible.
_&. WARNING -
-Never drive faster than the maximum permitted speed
for your tires. This could cause
the tires to heat up too much.
This increases the risk of an
accident because it can cause
the tire to burst .
-Always adapt your driving to the road and traffic condi-

tions . Drive carefully and re­
duce your speed on icy or slip­
pery roads . Even winter tires
can lose traction on black ice.
(@ Note
-Please note that summer and
winter tires are designed for
the conditions that are typical
i n those seasons . Aud i recom­
mends using winter tires dur­
ing the winter months . Low
temperatures significantly de­
crease the elasticity of summ­
er tires, which affects traction
and braking ability. If summer
tires are used in very cold
temperatures, cracks can form
on the tread bars, resulting in
permanent tire damage that
can cause loud driving noise
and unbalanced tires.
-Burnished, polished or chromed rims must not be used in winter driving condi­
t ions. The surface of the r ims
does not have sufficient corro­
sion protection for this and
could be permanently dam ­
aged by road salt or similar
substances.

vehicle with a tire/rim combina­
tion that is different from what
was installed at the factory, con­
sult with an authorized Audi
dealer or authorized Audi Service
Facility before making a pur­
chase

Because the spare tire* is differ­
ent from the regular tires instal­
led on the vehicle (such as winter
tires or wide tires), only use the
spare tire* temporarily in case of
emergency and drive carefully
while it is in use . It should be re­
placed with a regular tire as soon
as possible.
All four wheels must be equipped
with tires that are the same brand
and have the same construction
and tread pattern so that the
drive system is not damaged by
different tire speeds . For this rea­
son, in case of emergency, only
use a spare tire* that is the same
circumference as the regular
tires.
A WAR NING ~ -
-Do not use steel rims that are
17 inches or larger. Other-

wise, damage to the vehicle
and an accident could result .
-Only use tire/rim combina­
tions and su itable wheel bolts
that have been approved by
Audi . Otherwise, damage to
the vehicle and an accident could result.
-For technical reasons, it is not
possible to use tires from oth­
er vehicles -in some cases,
you cannot even use ti res from
the same vehicle model.
-Make sure that the tires you
select have enough clearance
to the vehicle . Replacement
tires should not be c hosen
simply based on the nominal
size, because tires with a dif ­
ferent construction can differ
greatly even if they are the
same size. If there is not
enough clearance, the tires or
the vehicle can be damaged and this can reduce driving
safety and increase the risk of
an accident .
-Only use tires that are more
than six years old when abso ­
lutely necessary and drive
carefully when doing so.
- Run-flat tires* may only be
used on vehicles that were

on the front axle and vice versa.
This will allow the tires to have approximately the same length of
service life.
For unidirectional tires, make
sure the tires are installed accord­
ing to the running direction indi­
cated on the tire sidewall
¢ page 362.
Hidden damage
Damage to tires and rims can of­
ten occur in locations that are
hidden. Unusual vibrations in the
vehicle or pulling to one side may indicate that there is tire damage.
Reduce your speed immediately.
Check the tires for damage. If no
damage is visible from the out­
s ide, drive slowly and carefully to
the nearest authorized Audi deal­ er or authorized Audi Service Fa­
cility to have the vehicle inspect­
ed.
.&_ WARNING
Tread that has worn too low or
different tread depths on the
tires can reduce driving safety.
This can increase the risk of an
accident because it has a nega­
tive effect on handling, driving
through curves, and braking, and because it increases the

risk of hydroplaning when driv­
ing through deep puddles.

Wheel bolts and rims
Wheel bolts
Wheel bolts must be clean and loosen/t ighten
eas ily .
Rims
Rims w ith a bolted rim ring* o r with bolted wheel
cove rs* consis t of multip le pieces. These compo­
nents were bolted together using specia l bolts

and a spec ia l proced ure. Yo u must not repair or

A WARNING

Wheel bo lts that are tightened or repaired in­
correct ly can become loose and resu lt in loss
of vehicle contro l, wh ich increases the risk of
an accident . For the cor rect tighten ing specifi­
cation, see <::>

-Always keep the wheel bolts and the
threads in the wheel h ub clean and free of
g rease .
- Only use wheel bolts that fit the rim .
- Always have damaged rims repaired by an
author ized Audi dealer or author ized Audi
Serv ice Facility . Never repair or disassemb le
rims yo urself, because th is increases the r isk
of an acc ident.
Winter tires
Winter tires sign ifican tly imp rove the vehi cle's
handling when dr iv ing in winter conditions . B e­
ca use of their const ruct ion (w idth, compou nd,
tread pattern), summer tires provide less trac ­
tion on ice and snow .

The effectiveness of w inter tires is reduced great­
ly when t he tread is wo rn down to a depth of
0.16 in (4 mm). The cha racter istics of w inte r
t ir es also decrease g reatly as the t ire ages, re ­
gard less o f th e rem aining t read.

You can also use all season tires instead of
winter tires. Please note that in some coun­
tries where winter tires are required, only
winter tires with the
& symbol may be per­
mitted.
Snow chains
Snow chains not only improve the driving in win­
ter road conditions, but also the braking .
~ Only install snow chains on the front wheels.
~ Check and correct the seating of the snow
chains after driving a few feet, if necessary . Fol­
low the instructions from the manufacturer.
~ Note the maximum speed of 30 mph (SO km/
h). Note the local regulations.
Use of snow chains is only permitted with certain
rim/tire combinations due to technical reasons.
Check with an authorized Audi dealer or author­
ized Audi Service Facility to see if you may use
snow chains.
Use
fine-mesh snow chains . They must not add
more than 0 .53 in (13.5 mm) in height, including
the chain lock.
You must remove the snow chains on roads with ­
out snow. Otherwise, you could impair driving
ability and damage the tires.
.&_ WARNING
Using incorrect snow chains or installing snow
chains incorrectly can result in loss of vehicle
control, which increases the risk of an acci­
dent.
(LlJ) Note
- Snow chains can damage the rims/wheel
covers* if the chains come into direct con­
tact with them. Remove the wheel covers*
first. Use coated snow chains.
- Do not install and use snow chains if there is
a malfunction in the air suspension*, be­
cause the vehicle height will be
very low. If

you drive with snow chains anyway, the
wheel housings and other vehicle compo­ nents can be severely damaged.

When using snow chains, it may be useful to
switch the offroad mode on

Low-profile tires
Applies to: vehicles with low-profile tires
Compared to other tire/rim combinations, low­
profile tires offer a wider tread surface and a
larger rim diameter with shorter tire sidewalls.
This results in an agile driving style. However, it
may reduce the level of comfort and increase
road noise when driving on roads in poor condi­
tion.
Low -profile tires can become damaged more
quickly than standard tires when driving
over
large bumps, potholes, manhole covers, and
curbs . Therefore, it is particularly important to
maintain the correct tire pressure
r=.> page 340.
To reduce the risk of damage to the tires and
rims, drive
very carefully on poor roads.
Check your wheels regularly every 2,000 mi
(3,000 km) for damage . For example, check for
bulges/cracks on the tires or deformations/
cracks on the rims.
After a heavy impact or damage, have the tires
and rims inspected or replaced immediately by
an authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi
Service Facility.
Low-profile tires can wear out faster than stand­
ard tires .
Uniform tire quality grading
- Tread wear
- Traction AA ABC
- Temperature ABC
Quality grades can be found where applicable on
the tire side wall between tread shoulder and maximum section width
r=.> page 331, fig. 269.

Wheels
-Do not dr ive faste r than 50 mph (80 km/
h) because this increases the risk of an ac­
cident. Observe any laws specific to the
country where yo u are driv ing.
- Avoid full-th rottle accele ration, heavy
braking, and fast cornering, because this
increases the r isk of an accident .
- The vehicle may become more difficult to
control.
- See an autho rized Aud i deale r or a uthor­
ized Audi Service Fac ility for assistance if
the t ire is too heavily damaged.
- Have the faulty tires replaced and the rims
checked fo r damage by an author ized A udi
dealer or author ized Audi Service Facil ity.
- The driver is responsib le for the vehicle, fo r
correcting the t ire pressure and for rep lac­
ing faulty parts. Therefore, always adjus t
yo ur driv ing to the g iven s ituation .

-Audi Orig inal run-flat tires can be identified
by the "AOE" labeling on the tire sidewall.

dents.
- To reduce the risk of cuts, protect yourself
from sharp metal components when was h­
ing the underbody or the inside of the wheel
housings .
- After washing the vehicle, the braking effect may be delayed due to mo isture on the
brake rotors or ice in the winter . This in­
creases the risk of an acc ident . The brakes
must be d ried first w it h a few careful b rake
applications.
@ Note
- If you wash the ve hicle in an automatic car
wash, you must fold the exterior m irrors in
to reduce the risk of damage to the mirrors .
P ower folding exte rior m irrors* must o nly
be fo lded in and out using the powe r folding
f u nct io n.
- To reduce t he risk of damage to the rims
and t ires , compare the width be tween the
whee ls on your ve hicl e w it h t he distance be ­
tween the g uide rai ls in the car wash .
- To reduce t he risk of damage, compare the
height and width o f you r vehicle with the heig
ht and w idth of the inside o f the car
was h.
- T o red uce the risk of pa in t damage, do not
was h the vehicle in direct sun light .
- T o red uce the risk of d amage to the s urf ace,
do not use insect removing sponges, k itchen
sponges or similar items .
- Matte finish painted vehicle components:
- To reduce the r isk of damage to the sur-
face, do not use polis hing agents or hard
wax .
- Never use protective wax. It can destroy
the matte finish effect .
- Do not place any stickers or magnet ic
signs on vehicle parts painted with matte
finish paint . The paint cou ld be damaged
when the stickers or magnets are re­
moved .
@ For the sake of the environment
Only wash the ve hicle in facilities spec ia lly de­
s igned for that pu rpose . This will reduce the
r isk of dirty wate r contaminated with o il from
ente ring the sewe r system.

The windsh ie ld may not be treated wi th wa­
ter-repelling windshield coating agents. Un ­

dry cloth or sponge.
- Do not use any cleaning product that con­
tains alcohol, because they could cause
cracks to form .

sive materials.

rims such as stone chips or scratches must
be repaired immediately.
- Cam era lens es
- Neve r use wa rm or hot water to remove
snow or ice from the came ra lens . This
could cause the lens to crack .
- Neve r use ab rasive cleaning m aterials or
a lcohol to clean the camera lens . This
could cause scratches and cracks .

- Remove snow and ice on windows and ex-
terior mirrors with a plast ic scraper. To

r oded and diffic ult to turn w hile chan gin g a
tire, they should be rep laced befo re yo u
chec k th e ti ghtening torque.
- D rive a t reduced speed until you have the
ti ghtening torques c hecked.
Notes on wheel changing
P lease read the i nfo rmation r=> page 33 7 if you
a re go ing to use a replaceme nt tire which i s dif­
fe rent from the tires on you r ve hicl e.
Afte r you change a t ire:
- Check the tire pressure on the replacement
tire immediately after installation.
- Have the wheel bolt tightening torque
checked with a torque wrench as soon as pos­
sible by your authorized Audi dealer or quali­
fied workshop.
- With steel and alloy wheel rims , the wheel
bolts a re correctly tightened at a torque of
120 ft lbs (160 Nm) .
- If you notice that the wheel bolts are corroded
and difficult to turn while changing a tire,
they should be replaced before you check the
tightening torque.
- Replace the flat tire with a new one and have
it installed on your vehicle as soon as possi­
ble. Remount the wheel cover.
Until then, drive with extra care and at reduced
speeds.

Oth erwise, in an acc ident or sud den maneu ­
v e r th ey could fly forward, causing in jury to
pass engers in t he v ehicle .
