Twoseparateindicatorsmonitorthefunctionof
theAdvancedAirbagSystem:the2]lightand
thePASSENGERAIRBAGOFF#¥;ON@light.
TheAdvancedAirbagSystemaswellastheside
airbagsandsidecurtainairbagswithejection
mitigationfeatures(includingtheelectroniccon-
trolunit,sensorsandsystemwiring)areall
monitoredcontinuouslytomakesure thatthey
arefunctioningproperlywhenever theignitionis
on.Everytimeyouturnontheignition,theair-
bagsystemindicatorlightkawillcomeon fora
fewseconds(functioncheck).
Thesystemmustbeinspectedwhenthe
indicatorlightBa:
—doesnotcomeonwhentheignitionisswitched
on
—doesnotgooutafewsecondsafteryouhave
switched
ontheignition,or
—comesonwhiledriving
Ifanairbagsystemmalfunctionisdetected,the
indicatorlightwillcomeontoserveasaconstant
remindertohavethesysteminspectedimmedi-
ately.
If amalfunctionoccurs thatturnsthefrontair-
bagonthepassengersideoff,thePASSENGER
AIRBAGOFF3%;lightwillcomeonandstayon
whenevertheignitionison.

erlycannotprovidesupplementalprotection
inafrontalcrash.

changeinthestatusofthefrontpassenger
seat.
AssoonasthePASSENGERAIRBAGOFF#¥;ON
®lightstopsblinking,alwaysmakesurethatthe
airbag status(onoroff)asshownbythelightis
properfortheage,sizeandelectricalcapacitance
ofthepersonoccupying thefrontpassengerseat.
Alwaysmakesurethatthesafetybeltforthe
frontpassengerseatisproperlyfastened.

frontairbagwillnotdeploy,andthePASSENGER
AIRBAGOFF3%;lightwillstayon.

thefrontpassengerseat,thesafestplacefora
child
inanykind ofchildrestraintisatoneofthe
seatingpositionsontherearseat>page269,

seathasbeencorrectlyroutedthroughthe
childrestraintasdescribedinthechildrestraint

—makesurethatnoseatheaterhasbeenretrofit-
tedorotherwiseaddedtothefrontpassenger
seat;
—makesurethatnothingcaninterferewiththe
safetybeltbucklesandthattheyarenotob-
structed;
—makesurethattherearenowetobjects(such
asawettowel)andnowaterorotherliquidson
thefrontpassengerseatcushion.
