_& WARNING
- If the t ire pressure indicator appea rs in
the instrument cl uster display, one or
more of you r tires is significantly under­
inflated. Reduce your speed immediately
and avoid any hard steering or braking
maneuvers. Stop as soon as possible and
check the t ires and the ir pressures . In­
flate the tire pressure to the proper pres­ sure as indicated on the vehicle's t ire
pressure label
c::> page 217. Driving o n a
signific antly under-inflated tire ca uses
the tire to overhea t and can lead to tire
f ailure. Under-inflation also is likely to
impair the vehicle's handling and stop­
ping ability.
- The driver is responsible for maintaining
the correct tire pressures . You must
check the t ire pressures regular ly.
- Under certain cond itions (such as a spor ­
ty driving style, w inter condit ions or un­
paved roads), the pressure monitor ind i­
cator may be de layed.
-Ask your authorized Audi dealer if run­ flat tires may be used on your veh icle.

stop working when there is an ESC ma l­

- Using snow c hains may res ult in a system

Reset tire pressure monitoring system

tated or changed, the TPMS must be reset via

Vehicle tool kit
The tools ore stored underneath the floor
panel in the luggage comportment.

When you need access to the vehicle too l kit
or jack*, you will need to take out the cover.
The vehicle tool kit includes:
- Tire repair kit (Tire Mobility System)
- Plastic cl ip for removing wheel bo lt caps*
- Alignment p in fo r cha nging the whee l
- Screwdriver with reversible blade
- Tool for chang ing light bulbs
- Reversible bit (reversible Torx bit for chang-
ing light bu lbs)
- Rod for jack
- Jack *
- Lug wrench
- T owing eye
Some of the ve hicle it ems listed above a re
p rov ided on certain models on ly or are opt io n­
a l extras.
Before returning the jack * to its place, retract
the jack arm fully .

- Never use the screw driver hex head to
t igh ten whee l bolts, s in ce the bolts can­
not at tain t he necess ary tightening tor­
que i f yo u use the hex head, potentially
causing an accident .
- T he factory -supplied ja ck is intended on ­
ly for your vehicle model. Under no cir ­
c u mstances should it be used to
lift
heavy vehicles or othe r loads; yo u risk in­
juring yo urself .
- Never start the engine when the vehicle
is raised, wh ich could cause an acc ident.
- Support the vehicle securely wit h app ro­
priate stands if work is to be performed
unde rneath the vehicle; otherwise, there
is a potentia l risk for injury.
Tire repair
General and safety pointers
Tire repair is intended only for temporary,
short-term use.

Your vehicle is equipped with a tire repa ir k it,
the
Tire Mobility System (TMS ).
In the event of a tire failure, the TMS is in the
luggage compartme nt under the floor. It con­
s ists of the tire sealant and an e lectric air
pump .
U sing
T MS , tire damage caused by foreign
bodies up to abo ut
0.16 inch (4 mm ) in diam­
eter can be sea led reliably.
T he foreign object must stay in the tire .
The t ire sealant must not be used:
- for cu ts or pun ctures in t he tire wh ich a re
larger than 0 .16 inch (4 mm)

TMS can be used at temperatures down to
- 4 °F (- 20 °C).
A WARNING
Take the following precautions after re ­
pairing the tire:
- Do not drive faster than 50 mph (80 km/
h)!
- Avoid fu ll-throttle acce leration, heavy
braking and fast cornering.
- The vehicle's road behavior can be affect ­
ed.
- Tires sealed w ith
TMS are intended only
for
temporary, short-te rm u se . Dam­
aged tires must be replaced . Drive care­
fully to the next profess iona l repa ir fa ­
c ility.
- After using the t ire sea lant the tire pres­
sure monitoring system may no longer
work properly. Drive carefully to the next
professional repair fac ility.
- TMS must NOT be used,
- for cuts or punctures in the ti re whi ch
a re l arger tha n 0.16 inch (4 mm)
- for damage to the rim
- if you have been dr iv ing with very low
tire pressures o r ti res with no air
- Seek p rofess ional assistance if it is not
poss ible to repair the tire with the tire
sealant.
- The tire sealant must not come into con­ tact with sk in, eyes or clothing.
- If you get any tire sealant in your eyes or
come into contact with it, r inse the af­
fected a rea t horoughly with cl ean water.

Filling a tire

• Screw the accompanying filling hose com ­
pletely onto the bottle. This breaks through
the fo il seal automat ica lly at the connec­
t ion.
• Remove the valve cap from the tire valve and
unscrew the valve insert us ing the accompa ­
nying valve insert tool

• Lay the valve insert on a clean surface .
• Remove the sealing p lug from the filling
hose and connect the hose to the t ire va lve.
• Hold the bottle with the bottom fac ing up­
ward and empty the entire contents into the
tire.
• Then pu ll out the hose and screw the valve
insert tightly back into the tire valve.
Inflating a ti re
• Screw the fi lling hose for the electric air
pump onto the tire valve and insert the con ­
nector into the cigarette lighter .
• Inf late the tire between 2.0 and 2.S bar and
read the pressure from the gauge.
• If this tire pressure is not reached, drive
your vehicle approximately 10 meters for ­
ward or backward so that the sealant can be redistr ibuted i nside the tire.
If at th is time
the required air pressure still cannot be reached, the t ire is too bad ly damaged and
cannot be repaired with the tire sea lant.
Final check
• After dr iving for about 10 minutes, stop and
check the t ire pressure .
• If tire pressure is less than 1.3 bar, the ti re
is too seve rely damaged. Do not cont in u e to
drive . Seek pro fessional assistance.
8_ WARNING
- Turn on the eme rgency flashers and set
up the emergency triangle if you have
flat tire while in moving traff ic. This is
for your protection and the for the safety
of other d rivers .
- Have all passengers leave the vehicle and
stay away from the danger zone (fo r ex­
ample, beh ind a guard rail). -
Read and follow the manufacturer's safe­
ty precautions on the compressor and in
the instructions on the bottle of sealant!
- If a tire pressure of 2.0 bar cannot
reached after inflating for six minutes,
then the t ire is too severely damaged. Do
not continue driving!
- Obta in qualified help if it is not possible
to perform the repair with the tire seal­
ant.
- If the tire pressure is less than 1.3 bar
after 10 m inutes of driv ing, then the the
tire is too seve rely damaged . Do not con­
tinue dr iving. Seek profess iona l assis­
tance.
Q) Note
Particular care is necessary if you are mak­
i ng a tire repa ir on a steep incl ine .
@ Tips
-Do not operate the electric air pump for
more than 6 minutes without stopping,
otherwise it can overheat . When the a ir
pump has cooled down, you can continue
t o u se i t.
- If sealant has spilled out, let it dry and
then you can remove it by peeling it away
like a foil.
- Rememb er to obtain a new bott le of
sealant from yo ur autho rized Aud i deale r
after repairing a tire. After this, the func­
tionality of the tire repair set is resto red.
- Obey all laws.
Changing a wheel
Before changing a wheel
Observe the following precautions for your
own and your passenger 's safety when chang­
ing a wheel.
• After you experience a tire failure, pull the

move to a safe location (for instance, behind
the guardrail)

You or your passengers cou ld be injured
wh ile changing a wheel if you do not fol­
low t hese safety precautions :
-If you have a flat t ire, move a safe dis­
tance off the road. Turn off the eng ine,
tu rn the emergency flashers o n and use
othe r warning dev ices to alert o ther mo­
torists.
- Make su re that passengers wai t in a safe
place away from the vehi cle and well
away from the road and traff ic.
- T o help p revent the veh icle from mov ing
sudden ly and possibly slipping off the
jack, a lways fully set the parking brake
and block the whee l diagona lly opposite
the wheel being changed with the fo ld­
ing chocks or other objects. When one
front wheel is lifted off the ground, plac­ ing the Automat ic Transm iss ion in "P"
(Park) w ill
not prevent the vehicle from
moving.
- Before you change a wheel, be sure the ground is level and firm. If necessa ry,
use a sturdy board under the jack.
- Always store the vehicle tool kit , the
jack* and the replaced ti re in the luggage
compartment

If you are chang ing the wheel on a steep
incline, use a rock or similar object to
b lock the opposite whe el to prevent the
veh icle from mov ing.

Changing a wheel
When you change a wheel , follow these­
quence described below step-by-step and in
exactly that order.
l. Remove the w heel bolt cap s* . For more
details see also
c> page 246, Wheels with
wheel bolt caps .
2. Loosen the wheel bolts .:>page 246.
3. Locate the p roper mounting point fo r the
jack and align the jack below that point

4. Lift the car with the jack Q page 247 .
5. Remov e the wheel with the flat tire and
then install the other wheel

6. Tig hten all wheel bolts lightly.

After changing a wheel
A wheel change is not complete without the
doing the following .
~ Always store the vehicle tool kit, t he jack*,
and the rep laced tire in the lugg age com­
par tment

~ As soon as possib le, have the t ight ening
torque s
on all wheel bolts checked with a
torque w rench. The correct tightening to r­
que is 90 ft lbs. (120 Nm).
~ Have the flat tire replaced as soon as possi­
ble.
(D Tips
- If you not ice that the wheel bolts are
corroded and diff icult to turn while
chang ing a tire, they should be replaced
before you check the tightening torque . •

Wheels with wheel bolt caps

The caps must be removed first from the
wheel bolts before the bolts con be un­
screwed.

Refitting
• Place the caps over the wheel bolts and
push them back on.
The caps are to protect and keep the wheel
bolts clean . Loosening and tightening the wheel

The wheel bolts must be loosened before rais­
ing the vehicle.

- Never use the hexagonal socket in the
handle of the screwdriver to loosen or
tighten the wheel bolts.
- If a wheel bolt is very tight, you may find

Raising the vehicle

- Position the vehicle jack on ly at the
designated lifting po ints and align the

have sufficient hold on the vehicle.
- A soft or unstable su rface unde r the
j a ck may cau se the ve hicle to slip off
the j ack. A lw ays p rov ide a firm b ase for
the j ack o n the ground .
If necessary,
u se a st urdy boa rd under the jack .
- On hard, sl ippery surface (s uch as t iles)
u se a ru bber mat o r similar to prevent
the jack from slipping .
- T o help p revent injury to yo urself and
your passengers:
- Do not ra ise the vehicle until you are
su re the jack is securely engaged.
- Passengers must not remain in the ve­
hicle when it is jacked up.
- Make sure that passengers wait in a
safe place away from the veh icle and
well away from the road and traffic.
- Make sure jack position is correct, ad­
j u st as necessary a nd then cont inue to
r aise t he jack .

Tires with unidirectional tread design
Tires with unidirectional tread design must be
mounted with their tread pattern pointed in the right direction.
Using a replacement tire with a tre ad
patte rn intend ed for us e in a specific
directi on
When us ing a replacement t ire with a tread
pattern intended for use in a specific direc­
tion, please note the fo llowing:
- T he direction of rotation is marked by an
ar ­
row on th e side of the tire.
- If the replacement tire has to be installed in
t h e incorrect d irection, use the tire only
temporarily since the tire will no t be able to
achieve its optimum performance character­
istics with regard to aquaplaning, noise and
wear .
- We recommend that you pay particular at­
tention to this fact during wet weather and
that you adjust your speed to match road conditions.
- Replace the flat tire with a new one and
have it installed on your veh icle as soon as
poss ible to restore the handling advantages
of a unid irect ional tire.
Notes on wheel changing
P lease read the information ¢ page 230, New
tires and replacing tires and wheels
i f you are
go ing to use a replacement tire w hich is dif­
fe rent from the tires on your vehicle.
After you change a ti re:
- Chec k the ti re p ress ure on the rep lacement
t ire immed ia tel y aft er in stall ation.
- Ha ve the wheel bolt tightening torque
checked w ith a to rqu e wrench as soon as
possible by your autho riz ed Aud i dealer o r
qualifi ed wor kshop .
- With steel and allo y wheel rims , the wheel
bol ts are correctl y tightened at a to rque of
9 0 ft lb s. (120 Nm ).
- If y ou no tice th at the whee l bolts are cor­
roded and d ifficult to tu rn whil e cha nging

- Repl ac e th e flat ti re with a new on e and

- If you are going to equip your vehicle
with tires or rims which differ from those
which were factory installed, then be sure to read the information ¢
page 230,
New tires and replacing tires and
wheels.
- Always make sure the damaged wheel or
even a flat tire and the jack and tool kit
are properly secured in the luggage com­
partment and are not loose in the pas­
senger compartment.
- In an accident or sudden maneuver they
co uld fly forwa rd, injuring anyone in the
veh icle.
- Always sto re damaged wheel, jack and
too ls securely in the luggage compa rt­
men t. Othe rwise, in an accident or s ud ­
den maneuver they co uld f ly forward,
causing injury to passengers in the vehi ­
cle.

Replacing a fuse
Fuses that have blown will have metal strips
that have burned through.

The fuses are located at the front left and
right of the cockpit and behind the trim on
the right side of the luggage compartment.
•Turnoff the ignit ion and the affected electri-
cal consumers.
• Check the following table to see which fuse
belongs to the consumer.
• Remov e the appropriate cover ¢

• To remove the purple plastic clip if necessa­
ry
1l, hold onto it at the small side and pull
it out of the fuse panel

A WARNING
Do not repair fuses and never replace a
