~ Press and hold the button l"" I for at least
four seconds to store the new open position.
A visual and audio signal will follow.
The settings in the MMI determine if the rear lid can be opened using the handle ¢
page 35.
Opening will be stopped immediately when:
- You press the button
l"" I on the remote con-
trol master key, or
- You press the button
l"" I in the rear lid, or
- You push the handle in the rear lid, or
- You pull the button
l.:::s ! in the driver's door,
or
- When something blocks the rear lid or
makes it difficult for the lid to move.
If you press one of the buttons ~now, the
rear lid will either open or close, depending on
its angle .

You can manually stop the automatic open­ ing/closing of the rear lid. The automatic clos­
ing process begins if you push down on the
rear lid.
A WARNING
-After closing the rear lid, always pull up
on it to make sure that it is properly
closed. Otherwise it could open suddenly
when the vehicle is moving .
- To help prevent poisonous exhaust gas
from being drawn into the vehicle, al­
ways keep the rear lid closed while driv­
ing. Never transport objects larger than
those which fit completely into the lug­
gage area, because then the rear lid can­
not be fully closed.

- Never leave your vehicle unattended es­
pecially with the rear lid left open. A
child could crawl into the car through the luggage compartment and pull the lid
shut, becoming trapped and unable to
get out . To reduce the risk of personal in­
jury, never let children play in or around
your vehicle. Always keep the rear lid as
well as the vehicle doors closed when not
in use.
- Never close the rear lid inattentively or
without checking first. Although the
closing force of the rear lid is limited,
you can still seriously injure yourself or
others .
- Always ensure that no one is within
range of the rear lid when it is moving, in
particular close to the hinges and the up­
per and lower edges - fingers or hands
can be pinched .
- Never try to interfere with the rear lid or
help it when it is being opened or closed
automatically .
(D Note
The rear lid can bump into objects such as
the garage ceiling when opening and be­
come damaged.
(D Tips
-Audio signals are given when you close
the rear lid using the
l a! button in the
driver's door.
- If there is a mechanical problem with au­
tomatic closing for the rear lid or there is
an obstruction, it opens again immedi­
ately . Check to see why the rear lid could
not be closed before attempting to close
it again .
- The following applies to vehicles equip­
ped with the Convenience key* feature: if
the remote control key is left in the lug­
gage compartment, luggage compart­
ment will automatically unlock itself af­
ter you lock the vehicle. This prevents
you from unintentionally locking your
key in the luggage compartment. .,.

- When the vehicle is locked, the rear lid
can be un locked separate ly by pressing
the button ~ on the master key. W hen
the rear lid is closed aga in, it locks auto­
matically.
Luggage compartment with movement­

Requirements: You must be carryi ng your ve­
hicle key with you. You must be standing at
the center behind the luggage compartment lid. The distance to the rear of the vehicle
should be approximately 8 inches (20 cm).
The ignition must be sw itched off . Make sure
you have firm footing .

Once the system recognizes the movement,
the luggage compartment lid will open .
The luggage compartment lid will only open if
you make the movemen t as described. This
prevents the luggage compartment lid from
ope ning due to s imilar moveme nts such as
when you walk between the rear of the veh icle
a nd your ga rage doo r.
General information
In some s ituations, the function is lim ited or
tempo rar ily unavailable . This may happen if:
- the luggage compartment lid was just closed.
- yo u park close to a hedge and the branches
move back and forth under the vehicle for a
long period of time. -
you clean your veh icle, for example with a
pressure washer or in a car wash.
- there is heavy rain.
- t he bum per is ve ry di rty, fo r example after
driving on sa lted roads.
- t here i s interference to the radio signal from
t he vehicle key, su ch as from cell phones or
remote contro ls.
Rear lid emergency release
The rear lid can be released in an emergency
from the inside .

Child safety Lock for
the rear doors
The power child safety lock locks the rear win­
dows and prevent the rear doors from being
opened from th e inside .

.. To activate the child safety lock for the left/
right rear door, press the left/right button

.,&_ WARNING
-When you leave your vehicle - even if on­
ly briefly - always take the ignit ion key
with you. This applies particularly when children remain in the vehicle. Otherwise
the children could start the engine or op­
erate electrical equipment (e.g. power
windows). The power windows are func­
tional until the driver's door or passeng­
er's doo r has been opened.
- Be careful when closing the w indows.
Check to see that no one is in the way, or
serio us injury could result!
- When locking the vehicle from outside,
the vehicle must be unoccupied since the
windows can no longer be opened in an
emergency .
{D Tips
-When you open the doors, the windows
automatically lower abo ut 10 mm.
- When the window in the driver's or pas­
senger's door is complete ly open, it will
raise approximately 25 mm when the
door is opened. The window will lower
again when you close the door.
- After the ignition has been switched off,
the windows can sti ll be opened or
closed for about 10 minutes. The power
windows are not switched off until the
dr iver's door or passenger's door has
been opened .
What to do after a malfunction
The one-touch open and close function must
be reactivated if the battery has been discon­
nected.

• Re lease the switch and then pu ll it again for
at least one second.
Valet parking
T he valet parking feature protects the lug ­
gage comportment from unauthorized access from the outside.

• Open the glove compartment and activate

• Close the glove compartment and lock it
with the mechanical key .
• Leave the master key with the service per ­
sonnel for parking and keep the mechanical
key w ith you.
When the "valet parking" feature is activated :
- the un locking bu tton for the rea r lid~ in
the d river 's doo r is i nactive
- the button~ on the maste r key is inactive
- the open ing hand le in the rear lid is i nactive.
The vehicle can be driven and locked and un­ locked with the master key . Access to the lug­
gage compartment is blocked from the out ­
side.
When the valet parking function is switched
on, the message

pears in the instrument cluster disp lay when

• To t ilt the sunroof completely, press the
sw itch br iefly to the second level briefly.
• To close the sun roof comp letely, pull the
sw itch br iefly to the second level

• To move the roof into the reduced w ind
noise posit ion, press the button back briefly
to the second leve l. The roo f will open all

second level again.
• To close the sunroof comp letely, press the
sw itch forward briefly to the second level

pull the sw itch forward/back to the first lev­

T he sun shade can be opened and closed by
hand when the sunroof is closed . T he solar

protection opens automatically when the s un­
roof opens .
You ca n still close or open the s unroof for up
t o ten m in utes after yo u have sw itched the ig­
n ition
off . The switch is deac tivated once the
driver's or front passenger's door is opened .
A WARNING
Pay careful attention when closing the
sliding/tilting sunroof - otherwise ser io us
injury cou ld result! A lways take the key
w ith you when leaving the vehicle .
(D Note
Always close your sliding/tilting sunroof
when leav ing you r vehicle. Sudden rain can
cause damage to the interior equipment of
your veh icle, part icu larly the elect ronic
equ ipment .
(D Tips
The slid ing/tilt ing sunroof will only open
at temperatures above -4°F ( -20°() .
Emergency closing of the sliding/tilting
sunroof
If the sun roof detec ts an objec t in its path
when i t is closing, it will open again a utomat i­
cally. In this case, yo u can close the roof w it h
the power emergency closing function .

The headlights only wo rk when the ignition is
sw itched on. Wh ile start ing the eng ine or
when switching off the ig nition, the head­
lights will go off and on ly the s ide marker
lights w ill be on .

All-weather light s
In vehicles with all -weather lights, the front
lights are ad justed automatically so that you
are less like ly to see glare from your own
headlig hts, for example when driving on a wet
road .
Automatic headlight range cont rol*
T he headlights do not blind oncoming traffic
if the veh icle load changes . The head light
range also ad justs automatica lly when brak­
ing and accelerating .
Light functions
The following light funct ions are availab le de­
pending on vehicle equipment and o nly func ­
tion when the lig ht switch is i n the AUTO posi­
t ion. You can deactivate these functions in the
MMI u nder
Audi adapt ive light *¢ page 45.
Vehicles with Static corneri ng light*: the cor­
nering light switches on a utomatica lly when
the steering whee l is turned at a certa in angle
at speeds up to app rox imately 44 mph
(70 km/h) and when the turn signal is activat­
ed at speeds up to app rox imately 25 mph
(40 km/h) . Th e ar ea to the side of th e vehicle
is illum inated better when turn ing .
Vehicles with
Dynamic curve light*: the curve
light only functions at speeds between ap­
proximate ly 6 mph (10 km/h) and 68 mph
(110 km/ h) and adapts itse lf to the cu rves in
the road.
A WARNING
- Automatic he adlights are only inte nded
t o assist the driver. They do not relieve
the dr iver of his respons ibility to check
the head lights and to turn them on ma n-
ually accord ing to the current light and ,..

visibility conditions. For example, fog cannot be detected by the light sensors.
So always switch on the headlights 1§.D under these weather conditions and
when driving in the dark.
- Crashes can happen when you cannot see
the road ahead and when you cannot be
seen by other motorists . Always turn on
the headlights so that you can see ahead
and so that others can see your car from
the back.
- Please observe legal regulations when
using the light ing systems descr ibed .
(D Note
The rear fog lights should only be turned
on in accordance with traffic regulation, as
the lights are bright for following traffic.
@ Tips
- The light sensor* for automatic head­ light range control* is located in the rear
view mirror mount. You should therefore not apply any stickers to the windshield
in this area in order to prevent malfunc­
tions or failures.
- In the event of a light sensor malfunc­
tion, the driver is notified in the instru­
ment cluster display
¢ page 22 .
-You will hear a warning tone if you open
the driver door when the exterior lights
are switched on .
- In cool or damp weather, the inside of
the headlights, turn signals and tail
lights can fog over due to the tempera­
ture difference between the inside and
outside. They will clear shortly after
switching them on. This does not affect
the service life of the lighting .

Emergency flasher
The emergency flasher makes other motorists
aware that you or your vehicle are in an emer­
gency situation .

When the emergency flasher is on, all four
turn signals blink at the same time . The turn
signal indicator lights

cluster, as well as the light in the emergency
flasher switch
& blink likewise. The emergen­
cy flashers also work when the ignition is
turned off.
The emergency flashers will turn on automati­
cally if you are in an accident where the airbag has deployed.
@ Tips
You should turn on the emergency flashers
when:
- you a re the last vehicle standing in a traf­
fic jam so that any other vehicles coming
can see you, or when
- your vehicle has broken down or you are
in an emergency situation, or when
- your vehicle is being towed by a tow
truck or if you are towing another vehicle
behind you.
Adjusting the exterior lighting
The settings are adjusted in the MMI .

Automatic headlights
You can adjust the following settings in the
Automatic headlights menu:

according to the sensitivity of the light sensor.

Daytime running lights
USA models :
You can switc h the dayt ime run­
ning lights
on and off .
Canada models:
The function cannot be
turned off . It is activated automatica lly each
time the ign ition is switched on. This menu
item is shown "greyed out".
Coming home, Leaving home
The coming home function illuminates the
area outside the vehicle when yo u switch the
ignition off and open the driver's door. To turn
the function on, select
Lights when leaving
car > On .
The leaving home function illuminates the
area outside the vehicle when you un lock the
vehicle. To turn the funct ion on, select
Lights
when unlocking car > On .
The coming home and leaving home functions
only operate when it is dark and the light
switch is in the
AUTO pos ition.
Turn signals and high beam lever
The lever on the left side of the steering col­
umn is used to operate the turn signals and
the high beam as well as the headlight flash­
er.

flasher if you know that these could blind
oncoming traffic .

The instrument illumination (for dia ls and
needles) lights on when the ign it ion is
sw itched on and the vehicle lights are
turned off. As the daylight fades, the illu­ m ination of the dials likewise d ims auto ­
mat ica lly and will go out comp lete ly when
the o utside light is ve ry low . This feat ure is
meant to remind you to switch on the
headlight s when o utsi de lig ht condi tions
become poor.

The luggage compartment cover is not a
surface for storing objects . Objects p laced
on the cover could endanger all ve hicle oc­
