Power top
Automatic power top
General information
Applies to: veh icles with power top
The power top opens and closes automatically.
When open, the power top is stored complete ly
in the power top compartmen t. The power top
can be opened or closed at speeds up to 30 mph
(SO km/h).
Under normal conditions, the powe r top is wind­
and waterproof. In rare cases, small droplets of
water may form under extreme weather condi­
tions such as torrential or prolonged rain. That is norma l and no cause for concern .
Follow the care instruct ions to keep the power
top free of leaks and to maintain its appearance
¢ page 347, Care and cleaning. Also observe the
following:
-Open and stow the power top only when it is
clean and dry. Sharp-edged dirt particles ca n
cause damage to the rear window and the pow­
er top . Stowing the power top when it is damp
can create imprints in it, and if it is left that
way for long periods of time, mildew and other
damage can form .
- Do not leave the power top open for severa l
weeks or the creases in it may become discol­
ored.
- Remove ice and snow before opening the power
top. Do not use any sharp edged objects to re­
move ice and snow or the power top could be
scratched or damaged . The rear window may be
cleared with a standard ice scraper.
- Do not open the power top when the tempera­
ture is be low 32 °F (0 °C) . The fabric in the
power top loses elasticity in sub- zero tempera­
tures.

A WARNING
-- When operating the power top, make sure
the function is not affected by wind or other
factors and that it does not interfe re with
other drivers.
- Never drive when the power top is not
locked correctly. The wind from driving
could cause the power top to open. This can
res ult in injuries and damage to the vehicle .
- Make sure no one will be injured by the pow ­
er top supports and other moving compo­
nents when opening and closing the top.
- The headroom in the rea r is reduced when
open ing and closing the power top . Make
sure the rea r passenge rs keep enou gh dis­
tance from the powe r top to reduce the risk
of injury .

-When operating the power top, visibility to
the rear is limited. Avoid operating the top
while driving in reverse.

- To prevent damage to the power top:
- do not store any objects in the power top
storage compartment .
- make sure there is enough space above
the vehicle when opening or closing the
power top.
- To reduce the risk of damage, make sure
there are no sensit ive objects in the power
top storage compartment's range of mo­
tion.
(D Tips
- To prevent the vehicle battery from draining unnecessarily, do not open or close the pow­
er top repeatedly when the engine is switch­
ed off.
- A message will appear in the instrument
cluster if there is a malfunction in the powe r
top

An authorized A udi dealer or author­
ized Audi Service Facility should diagnose
and correct the cause of the ma lfunction as
soon as possible.
- If the vehicle is parked with the power top
open, the vehicle interior is not protected
from damaging weather or unauthorized ac­
cess. lock any items you leave behind in the
luggage compartment. Close the power top
before leaving the vehicle .
- The side windows automat ically lower
slight ly when opening or closing the power
top.

Wind deflector

The wind deflector redu ces air movemen t in the
passenger compar tment in order to make driving
more comfortab le.

-Be careful when installing so you do not
pinch your fingers.
-Pay attention to the traffic when insta lling
the wind def lector. Install the w ind deflec­
tor from the s ide of the vehicle that is away
from traffic.
(D Note
Do not lean against the veh icle when insta l­
ling the wind deflector. Hard objects and dec­
orations on clothing such as belt buckles can
scratch the pa int.
{!) Tips
-The wind deflector works best when a ll of
the w indows are rolled up wh ile driving.
- Only store the wind deflector in the storage
bag * when it is dry.

operation
General information

15 seconds to reduce the pressure in the power

Only close the power top manua lly in an emer­
gency . Have a second person assist . Drive to an
authorized Audi dealer or author ized Audi Service
Facility immediately to have the malfunction cor­
rected.
A WARNING
-There is a r isk of pinching the hands or othe r
people during all of the powe r top emergen­
cy operat ion steps.
-Ma ke sure a ll windows a re lowered d uring
emergency operation.

-Do not reach into the power top supports
or other mov ing components.
-Never drive when the power top is not
locked correct ly. The wind from driving
could cause the power top to open. This can
result in injur ies and damage to the vehicle.

The power top storage compartment cover is
not latched after the emergency operation is
complete. Dr ive to an authorized Audi dealer
or authorized Audi Service Facility immediate­ ly to have the malfu nction corrected.

A WARNING
-Always make sure that the side supports on
the open power top storage compartment cover are in place, even when the power top
is not fully open or closed. Otherw ise, the

• Hold the power top by its front edge and pull it
out

cover by pulling on the side supports to release
them.
• Close the power top storage compartment cov­

• Insert the wheel wrench into the opening and
turn it counterclockwise until it stops¢

• Remove the wheel wrench and seal the opening
with the cap.
• Put the wheel wrench back into the vehicle tool
kit.

- When positioning the power top, avoid con­
tact with the supports or other moving
parts. Otherwise you could pinch your
hands.
- When pressing the power top down onto
the windshield frame, make sure that you
do not pinch yourself or anyone else.

Make sure the locking mechanisms are locked

Automatic headlight range control
Applies to: vehicles with headlight range control
Your vehicle is equipped with an autom atic head­
light range control system that red uces g lare for
oncoming traffic if the veh icle load changes. The
headlight range adj usts automatically .

Audi adaptive light
Appl ies to: veh icles w ith Audi adaptive light
Adaptive light provides bette r visibili ty when i t is
dark by adapting the ligh ts to the road condi tions
based on speed, such as on e xpressways, rura l
roads, at intersections, and in curves. The adap­
t ive lights only function when the light switch is
in the AUTO* posit ion and the all weather lights
are switched off .
A WARNING
-
- Automatic headlights * are on ly intended to
assis t the dr iver. They do not relieve t he
d river of respons ibi lity to check the head­
lights and to turn them on manua lly based
on the cur re nt ligh t and v isibility condition s.
For e xamp le, fog cannot be detected by the
light senso rs . So always switch on the low
beams under these weather con dit ions an d
when dr iv ing in the dark
fD.
- The rear fog lights sho uld only be turned on
in accordance wit h traffic regulations , to
prevent glare for traffic behind your vehicle.
- If the ve hicle battery has bee n discharging
for a wh ile, the park ing light may switch
off
automatically. A lways make su re your vehi­
cle is parked and adequate ly lit acco rdi ng to
the laws . Avo id us ing the parking ligh ts for
seve ral hou rs .
- Always observe legal regulations when us­
i n g the lighting systems described.
@ Tips
- The lig ht sensor for the automat ic head­
lights* is in the rearview mirror mount. Do
not p lace any st ickers in this area on t he
w indshield .
- Only the front headlights turn on when the
daytime running lig hts are sw itched on *. In
veh icles in ce rtain markets, the tai l lights
w ill also tu rn on.
- In cool or damp weathe r, the inside of the
head lights, t urn sign als and tail lights can
fog ove r due to t he tempera ture diffe rence
b etween the ins ide an d ou tside. They wi ll
clear shortly a fter swi tching them on. This
does not affect the service life of the light­
ing .

The lever operates the turn signals, the high
beams and the headlight flasher .

A WARNING
High beams can cause glare for other drivers,
wh ich increases the risk of an accident. For
this reason, only use the h igh beams or the
head light f lashe r when they will not create
glare for other d rivers.

· High beam assistant

T he high beam assistant automatically turns the
high beams on or off depending on the surround­
ing conditions .
A camera on the rearv iew mirror mount can de­
tect light sources from other road users . The high
beams switch on or off automatically depending
on the posit ion of vehicles d riving ahead and on­
com ing vehicles , the veh icle speed as well as oth­
er environmenta l facto rs and traffic condit ions.
Activ ating high b eam assistant
Requirement: the light sw itch must be set to AU ­
TO, the low beams must be sw itched on, and the
high beam assistant must be sw itched on in the
Infotai nment
system ~ page 53.
~ To activate the high beam ass istant, press the
leverforward @~page52, fig . 51. The il or
ti1 indicator light appears in the i nstr ument
cl uste r display and the high beams are sw itch­
ed on or off autom atically. The
II ind icator
light tu rns on if the high beams were sw itched
on .
Switching the high beams on /off manually
If the high beams d id not switch on/off automat­
ic ally as expected, yo u may switch them on or off
manua lly ins tead :

& WARNING
High beam assistant is only intended to assist
the drive r. The dr iver is still responsible for
con troll ing the headlights and may need to
switch t hem on and off manually depending
on light and visibility conditions . It may be
necessaty to operate them manua lly in s itua ­
tions such as:
- In adverse weather conditions such as fog,
heavy rain, b low ing snow or spraying water.
- On roads where oncoming traffic may be partially obscu red, such as expressways .
-If there are road users with poor lighting,
such as bicyclists .
- In tight c urves and on s teep hills.
- In poorly lit areas.
- With strong reflecto rs, such as s igns.
- If the area of the windsh ield near the sensor
is fogged over, dirty, icy or covered with a
st icker.

Adjusting the exterior lighting
T he functions are adjusted in the Infotainment
system .

You can adjust the following settings in the Au ­
tomati c headlights
menu :

beam assistant * on and off .
Entry/exit lighting*
You can switch the entry/exit lighting* on and
off. When it is dar k, it illum inates the area
around the vehicle when un loc king t he ve hicle
and after sw itchi ng off the ignition and opening
the driver's door .
T he entry/exit lighting only work s whe n it is da rk
and the light sw itch is in the
AUTO * position .
Daytime running lights1
)
The daytime runni ng lig hts can be turned on and
off . When daytime r unning lights are turned on,
the lights w ill stay on continuously whenever the
i gni tion is sw itched on .

Instrument illumination
You can adjust the background brightness of the
instruments and display illumination .

• Press the knob to release it.
• Turn the knob toward"-" or"+" to reduce or in­
crease the brightness.
• Press the knob again to return it to its original
position.
(D Tips
Depending on vehicle equipment, the instru­
ment illuminat ion (needles and gauges) may
turn on when the lights are off and the igni­
tion is sw itched on. The illumination for the
gauges reduces automat ically and eventually
turns off as brightness outs ide inc reases. This
function remind s the d river to turn the low
beams on at the appropr iate time.

Turn the knob to the desired pos it ion:

Q/ P -adj usts the left/right exte rior m irror.
Move the knob in the des ired direct ion.
C@ -H eats* the mir ror glass depend ing on the
outside temperature .
8 -Folds the exterior mirrors*. To fold the mir­
rors out, turn the knob to one of the other posi­
t ions. In the Infota inment system, you can select
if the mirrors fo ld in automatically when you lock
the
vehi cle ~ page 38.
Front passenge r's e xterior mirror tilt
function*
To help you see the curb when backing into a parking space, the surface of the m irro r tilts
s li ghtly. For this to happen, the knob must be in
the position for the front passenger's exterio r
mirror.
You can adjus t the tilted mirro r sur face by turn­
ing the knob in the desired d irect ion. When you
move out o f reverse and into another gear, the
new mirror position is stored and assigned to the
key you are using .
T he m irror goes back into its or iginal pos ition
once you drive forwa rd faster than 9 mph
(15 km/h) or turn the ignition off.
A WARNING ~
Cu rved mirror surfaces (for example convex)
enlarge the field of vision. However, they make objects in the mirror appear smaller
and farther away. Your may est imate incor­
rect ly when you use these mirrors to gauge
your distance from the veh icles beh ind you
when chang ing lanes, which increases the risk
of an accident .
(D Note
-Applies to vehicles with power folding exte­
rior mirrors : if the m irro r hous ing was
moved by outs ide forces (such as an impact
w hen maneuve ring), you must use the pow-
er folding function to fold the mirro r all the
way out. The mirrors will make a loud noise
when they latch into place. The mirror hous-
ing must not be moved back into p lace by
