Comfort settings
Applies to vehicles: wit h comfort seats in the rear
You can adjust settings for the rear seat from
the cockpit using the MMI.
" Select !CAR I function button> Car systems
contro l button > Vehicle settings > Seats >
Rear seats.
Factory settings position -
This function
moves the outer rear seats and the front pas­
senger seatback into the factory settings posi­
t ion .
Entry assistance -Entry assistance makes it
easier to enter and exit the rear seat more
comfortably. When the function is activated,
the rear seat moves all the way back automat­
i ca lly when the corresponding door opens .
Front passenger seat adjustment* -If the
function is act ivated in the MMI, the fro nt
passenger seat can be adjusted from the rear
seat

The front passenger seat cannot be ad justed
if:
- the front passenger seat memory function is
turned off

Equipm ent that can be connected
Electrical devices can be connected to t he 115
volt socket in the vehicle. Power consumption
at the 115-volt socket must not exceed 150
watts (300 watts peak). Check the power con­
sumption of the equipment on the model
p late.
LED on th e sock et
- The socket is ready for use when the LED is
green .
- If the L ED blinks red , the re is a malfunction .
The socket will switch off automatically due
to overcurrent or overheating. The socket
wi ll switch on again automatically after a
cool-down period. Any devices that are con­
nected and switched on will activate again
automatically ¢,&. .
A WARNING
-The sockets and the electrical accessories
co nnected to them operate on ly when
the ignition is switched on . Incor rect us­
age can lead to serious injuries or burns.
T o reduce the risk o f injuries, never leave
children unattended in the vehicle with
the vehicle key.
- Heavy equipment or plugs with integrat­ ed power supply units can damage the
socket and lead to injuries.
- Store all connected equipment securely
whi le the vehicle is moving so that they
cannot be thrown through the vehicle in
the event of a braking maneuver or an acc ident.
- Never spill any liqu ids on the socket. If
any moisture gets into the socket, make
certain that all the moisture has dried up
before using the socket aga in .
- Equipment that is connected to the vehi­
cle socket can heat up more than it does
when connected to the public g rid.
- When using adapters and extension
cords, the ch ild safety for the 115-volt
socket is disabled and the socket is
live .
- Never insert anyth ing other than the
plug of a n appropriate elect rical accesso- ry into the socket, especially things that
conduct e lectr icity, e.g. meta l pens, kn it­
ting needles, etc. into the contacts of the 115-volt socket.
- Turn the electrical equ ipment off if the
socket has switched off because of
over­
heating .

-Always follow the manufact urer's in­
struct ions for all electrical accessories
you want to use with the electrical sock­ et!
- Do not connect lamps that contain a ne­
on tube. For technical reasons the lamp
may be damaged.
- Do not connect any 230-volt equipment
to the 115-volt socket. The equipment may be damaged .
If necessary, check the
permissible voltage for the equipment
on the model labe l.
- In the case of some powe r packs, e .g . for
a laptop computer, the built-in ove rcur­
rent shutoff prevents i t from being
swi tched on be cause of excessive sta rt­
up c urrent. In this case, disconnect the
power pack from the consumer and re­
connect it after about 10 seconds .
(D Tips
- Unshielded equipment may cause inte r­
ference in the radio and the vehicle e lec­
tronics.
- Some equipment may wo rk properly be­
cause of the reduced power (wattage),
available from the socket.

A WARNING ,~ ~
When driving, do not leave any hard ob­
jects on the rear w indow shel f or allow
your pet to s it on the shelf. They could be­
come a hazard for veh icle occupants in the
event of sudden braking or a crash.
([) Note
Make sure abrasive objects do not damage
the heating w ires for the rear window de­
fogger.
{1) Tips
- A vent slot is located between the shelf
and the rear window. Do not b lock the
vent with any items you may place on the
rear w indow shelf.
- Do not place bulky items on the rear w in­
dow shelf as they could restrict o r block
the driver's vis ion in the rear view mirro r.
Additional storage
There are a variety of storage compartments
and fasteners in various places in the vehicle.
- Storage compartments in the doors
- Net in the front passenger footwell
- Eyeglasses compartment in the headliner
(near the rearview m irror)
- Storage compartments under the center
armrests
- Compartments* on the back of the front
seat backrests
- Garment hooks over the rear doors
- Compartment in the center console with
pass-through)* (rear)
- Compartment behind the rear center arm ­
rest (in vehicles without the pass-through*
or refr igerator*)
- Bag hooks in the luggage compartment
A WARNING
-
- Always remove objects from the instru­
ment panel. Any items not stored could
slide arou nd inside the vehicle while driv­
ing or when accelerating or when apply-

ing the brakes or when driving around a
corner.
- When you are driving make sure that
anyth ing you may have placed in the cen­
ter conso le or other storage locations
cannot fall out into the footwells. In case
of sudden braking you would not be able
to b ra ke or accelerate .
- Any art icles of clothing that you have
hung up must not inte rfere wit h the dr iv­
er's view. The coat hooks are des ign ed
only fo r ligh twe ight clot hing. Neve r hang
any cloth ing wi th hard, po in ted o r heavy
objects in the po ckets on the coat hoo ks .
During s udden braking or in an accident -
especia lly if the airbag is deployed -
these objects co uld inj ure any passen­
gers inside the vehicle.
- To reduce the risk of perso nal inju ry in an
accident or s udden stop, always keep the
glove compartment closed wh ile driving.
- Read and follow a ll WARNINGS
c::> page 165 , Important safety instruc­
tions on the side airbag system.
- Hang clothes in such a way that they do
not impair the driver's vision.
- The coat hooks must only be used for
lightweight clothing. Do not leave any
heavy or sharp edged objects in the pock­
ets which may interfere with the s ide cur­
tain airbag deployment and can ca use
pe rsonal injury in a crash .
- Do not use coat hangers for hanging cloth ing on the coat hooks as th is can in­
terfere with prope r deployment of the
side curta in a irbags in an acc ident.
- Do not hang heavy objects on the coat
hooks, as they co uld cause perso nal i n­
ju ry in a sudden stop.
(D Note
Objects located on the rear shelf that rub
against the rea r window could damage the
heating wires for the rear window defog­
ger.

7 4 Warm and cold
Warm and cold Climate controls
Description
The climate control system warms, cools and
adds humidity to the air in the vehicle interior.
It is the most effect ive when the windows and
sunroof* are closed . If the temperature inside
the parked vehicle becomes very warm, open­ ing the window briefly will speed up the cool­
ing process.
I n all heating mode functions except
defrost,
the blower on ly switches to a higher speed
once the engine coolant has reached a certain
temperature.
Condensation from the cooling system can
drip and form a puddle of water under the ve­
hicle. This is normal and does not mean there
is a leak.
Pollutant filter
The pollutant filter removes pollutants such
as dust and po llen from the air.
The air pollutants filter must be changed at
the intervals spec ified in you r Warranty
&
Maintenance booklet, so that the air condi­
tioner can properly work.
I f you drive your vehicle in an a rea with high
a ir po llution, the filter may need to be
changed more frequent ly than specified in
your Aud i Warranty
& Maintenance booklet. If
in doubt, ask your authorized Audi Service Ad­
visor for advice .
Key coded settings
The climate control settings are a utomat ically
stored and assigned to the remote control key
that is in use.
A WARNING
Reduced visibility is dangerous and can
cause accidents. -
- For safe driving it is very important that
all windows be free of ice, snow and con­
densation.
- Comp letely familiarize yourself with the
proper use and function of the heating
and ventilation system and especially how to defog and defrost the windows.
- Never use the windshield wiper/washer
system in freez ing weather unt il you
have warmed the windshield first, using
the heating and ventilation system. The
washer solution may freeze on the wind­ sh ie ld and reduce visib ility.
(D Note
- If you suspect that the air conditioner has been damaged, switch the system
off to avoid further damage and have it
inspected by a qualified dealership.
- Repairs to the Audi air conditioner re­
quire special technical knowledge and
special tools. Contact an authorized Aud i
dea ler fo r assistance.
@ For the sake of the environment
By reducing the amount of fuel you use,
you also reduce the amount of pollutants
emitted into the air.
(D Tips
- Keep the air intake s lots (in fro nt of the
w indshield) free from ice, snow and de ­
bris in order to maintain the proper func­
tion of the climate control system.
- T he energy management system may
switch the seat heating* or rear window
defroster off temporari Ly . These systems
are available again as soon as the energy
balance has been restored.
- Air escapes through vents under the rear
window. When placing items of clothing on the luggage compartment cover, en­
sure that the openings are not covered.

Depending on the weight of the r ig (vehicle
and trai ler) and the severity of the incline, you
may roll backwards as you start. You can pre­
vent roll ing backwards by holding the parking
brake switch(®) pulled out and accelerating -
just as you would when starting on a hill with
a conventional hand brake.
Emergency braking
In the event that the conventional brake sys­
tem fails or locks.
... In an emergency, pull the switch(®) and
continue to pull it to slow your vehicle down
with the parking brake.
... As soon as you release t he sw itch (®) or ac-
ce lerate, the braking p rocess stops.
If you pull the sw itch(®) and hold it above a
speed of about 5 mph (8 km/h), t he emergen­
cy braking fu nction is in itiated . The vehicle is
b raked at all four wheels by activating the hy­
d ra u lic bra ke system. The b rake performance
i s simi lar to making an emergency stop
c::> &. .
In order not to activate the emergency brak­
ing by m ista ke, an audible warning tone (b uz­
z er) sou nds when the switch®> is pulled. As
soon as the switch(®) is released, or the acce l­
erator pedal is dep ressed, emergency brak ing
stops .
A WARNING
Emergency braking should only be used i n
an emergency, when the normal foot brake
has failed or the brake pedal is obstructed.
Using the parking brake to perform emer­
gency braking will slow you r vehicle down
as if you had made a fu ll brake applicat ion.
T he laws of physics can not be s uspended
even w ith ESP and its associated compo­
nents (ABS, ASR, EDL). In corners and
when road or weather conditions are bad,
a full brake application can cause the vehi­
cle to skid or the rear end to break away -
r isking an accident.

Speed warning system
Introduction
The speed warning system helps you to stay
under a specified maximum speed .
The speed warning system warns you if you
are exceeding the maximum speed that you
have set. You will hear a warning tone when
you r speed exceeds the stored value by ap­
proximately 3 mph (3 km/h) . An indicator

models) ;a (Canada mode ls) in
the instr ument cluster d isp lay al so tur ns on at
the same time. The indicator light . /.
turns off when the speed decreases be low the
stored maxim um speed .
Se tting a t hreshold is recommended if you
would like to be rem inded w hen you reach a
certain maximum speed. Situations where you
may want to do so incl ude driv ing in a co untry
with a genera l speed limit or if there is a
specified maximum speed for winter tires.
(D Tips
Even though your vehicle is eq uipped w ith
a speed warn ing system, you sho uld still
watch the speedometer to make sure you
are not dr iv ing faster than the speed limit.
Setting the threshold
You can set, change and delete the threshold
in the MMI.
... Select: !CAR ! function button > Car systems
contro l button > Dri ver ass ist > Speed warn­
ing .
You can set any threshold between 20 mph
(30 km/h) and 150 mph (240 km/h) . Sett ings
can each be adjusted in increments of 5 mph
(10 km/h).

Switching on
The cruise control system makes it possible to
drive at a constant speed starting at 20 mph
(30 km/h).

via an engine out­
put adjustment or active brake intervention .
8_ WARNING
-Always pay attention to traffic even when
the cruise control is switched on . You are
always responsible for your speed and
the distance between your vehicle and
other vehicles. -
For safety reasons, the cruise contro l
should not be used in the city, in stop­
and-go traffic, on twisting roads and
when road conditions are poor (such as ice, fog, gravel, heavy rain and hydro­
plan ing) - risk of accident.
- Turn off the cruise control temporarily when enter ing turn lanes, highway exit
lanes or in construction zones .
- Please note that inadvertently "resting" your foot on the accelerator pedal causes
the cruise control not to brake. This is
because the cruise control is overridden
by the drive r's acceleration.
- If a brake system malfunction such as
overheating occurs when the cruise con­
trol system is switched on, the braking
function in the system may be switched
off . The other cruise control functions re­
main active as long as the indicator light
m:lmi (US models)/ . (Canadian mod­
els) is on.
(D Tips
The brake lights illuminate as soon as th e
brakes decelerate automatically.
Changing speed
"' Press lever in the 0 or O direction
c::>page 84, fig. 83 to increase or decrease
your speed.
"' Release the lever to save that speed .
Change speed in increments of 1 mph (1 km/
h) by lightly press ing the lever. If you keep the
lever pressed down , you will alter your speed
in 5 mph (10 km/h) increments .
You can also press the accelerator pedal down
to increase your speed, e .g. if you want to
pass someone . The speed you saved earlier
will resume as soon as you release the acceler­
ator pedal.
If, however, you exceed your saved speed by
6 mph (10 km/h) for longer than 5 minutes,
the cruise control will turn off temporari ly.

vehicles such as motorcycles and bicy­
cles.
- The adaptive cruise control system can­
not detect people, animals and cannot
detect objects or traffic that crosses your
lane of travel.
- Never drive at speeds that are too fast for traffic, road and weather conditions.
- Never use adaptive cruise control when
you cannot drive safely at a steady speed, including on wind ing roads or
when road conditions are poor (for exam ­
ple, in construction sites, on ice , gravel,
in fog, heavy ra in or on wet roads that in­
crease the risk of hydroplan ing).
- Never follow a veh icle so closely that you
cannot stop your vehicle safely. The
adaptive cruise cont ro l cannot slow or
brake the veh icle safely when you follow
another veh icle too closely. Always re ­
member that the automatic braking
function cannot bring the vehicle to a
sudden or emergency stop under these
condit ions.
- Never rest your foot on the acce lerator
pedal, especially when the adaptive
cruise control is being used. Pressure on
the accelerator w ill override the adaptive
cruise control braking function and pre­
vent the brakes from being applied whe n
adaptive cruise cont ro l detects a situa­
t io n when the brakes must be applied.
- Never use adaptive cruise control whe n
the radar sensors cannot accurately de­
t ect vehicles moving in t raff ic. The rad ar
sensor's vision can be reduced by heavy
rain, ice, snow, heavy road spray and re­
flect ions from guard rails, t unnel ent ran­
ces, etc. These and simi lar conditions can
prevent vehicles from being accurately
detected and in some cases they may not
be detected at all .
- Always turn off adaptive cru ise contro l
when entering turn lanes, exit lanes and
constr uction zones or in similar sit ua­
t ions because the vehicle will automati­
ca lly accelerate to the sto red speed when
the roa d ahead is clear. -
To prevent unintended operation, a lways
sw itch ACC off when it is not being used .
(D Note
The sensors can be moved by impac ts or
damage to the bumper, wheel housing and underbody . Damage in these areas could
change the way the adaptive cru ise control
system and Aud i brak ing guard work to­
gether . Have your authorized Audi deale r
check to make s ure that the adaptive
cruise control system is wor king p roperly if
your vehicle had a m ino r frontal impact or
was damaged in the area of the sensors.
In curves

trol can cause collisions, other accidents

tomatically accelerate the vehicle to
20
mph (30 km/h), wh ich is the minimum
speed that can be set .
(D Tips
- If you switch the ignit ion or the adaptive
cruise control off, the set speed is e rased
from the system memory.
- You cannot switch the Electron ic Stabili­
zation Program (ESP) to the SPORT mode
when adaptive c ruise control is sw itched
on.
Driving in stop-and-go traffic
Appl ies to vehicles: wi th adap tive c ruise control
T he adaptive cru ise contro l system also as­
sists yo u in stop-and-go traffic. If a previous
detected vehicle ahead stops, your vehicle wi ll
brake to a stop, within the limits of the sys­
tem.
~ To resume driving with adaptive cruise con­
trol, tap the acce lerator pedal or

- If adaptive cruise control is act ive and
your vehicle does not start driving as ex­ pected after pu lling the lever once, you

A WARNING ,~
The Audi braking guard is an assist system
and cannot prevent a collis ion by itself.
The driver must always intervene. The driv­ er is always responsible for braking at the
co rrect time.
- Always pay close attention to traffic,
even when the Aud i brak ing guard is
switched on. Be ready to intervene and
be ready to take complete control whe n­
ever necessary. Always keep the safe and
legal distance between your vehicle and
vehicles up ahead.
-Audi braking guard works within limits and wi ll not respond outside the system
limits, for examp le when approaching a
stopped vehicle or stationary obstacle
(end of a traff ic jam or vehicle that has
broken down in traffic).
- Always remember that the radar sensor
for the Audi braking guard works only
within defined detect ion and range limits
that may prevent the proper detection of
other vehicles.
- The radar sensor's function and range
can be reduced by rain, snow and heavy
spray. moving vehicles up ahead may not
be promptly detected or may not be de ­
tected at al l.
- Reflective surfaces includ ing c rash ba rr i­
ers or tunnel en trances may impair the
function of the radar sensor .
(D Tips
Innattention can cause collisions, other ac­
cide nts and serious persona l injuries.
- You can stop the Audi b raking guard in­
te rvention w ith increas ing braking force
by applying the brakes yourse lf or by a c­
ce le rat ing rapidly.

Three wh ite dots appear if a setting cannot be
selected with the operat ing lever . For exam­
ple, this happens if adaptive cru ise control
cannot resume driving in stop-and-go traffic
because one of the conditions required for
ACC to wor k is not prese nt.
Door open
The adaptive cruise control system cannot
switch on when a door is open.
Stationary object ahead
This message appears if you wou ld like to
switch adaptive cruise control on and there is
a stationary veh icle or obstacle directly ahead
of your vehicle.
