Automaticcarwash
Thevehiclecanbewashedinalmostany
modern automatic carwash.
The vehiclepaintissodurablethatthevehicle
can normally be
washedwithoutproblemsin
anautomaticcarwash. However,theeffecton
thepaintdependstoalargeextentonthede­
sign
ofthefacility,thefilteringofthewash
water,thetypeofwashandcarematerial,etc.
Ifthepainthasa dullappearanceaftergoing
throughthecarwashorisscratched,bring
thistotheattentionoftheoperatorimmedi­
ately.Ifnecessary,useadifferentcar wash.
Before going
throughacar wash, besureto
taketheusualprecautionssuch asclosingthe
windows. Removeantennaifapplicable.
Ifyouhave instaLLedadditionalaccessorieson
thevehicle -suchasspoiLers, etc.-itisbestto
askthecar washoperatoriftheseshouldbe
removed.

Washingthevehiclebyhand
Alotofwaterisneeded whenwashing avehi­
cle byhand.

~Firstsoakalldrieddirtuntilitissoft,then
rinse itoff.
~Asyou cleanyourvehicle,startwiththe
roof andworkyourway downtothebottom,
using asponge,aspongegLoveoraclean
brush.
~RinsethespongeorthespongegLoveoften,
flushing itcleaneachtime.
~Use speciaLcarshampooonlyforvery per­
sistentdirt.
~Rinsethecarthoroughlywithwater.
~Useachamoisleathertogentlywipetheex­
teriordry. Use
a
separatespongeforcleaningthe
wheels,doorsillsandotherregionsexposed
toroad dirt.Inthisway,youwillnotscratch
thepaintwithcoarseparticlesimbeddedin
thespongethenexttimeyouwashthecar.

Youcanusea liquidcarwaxtoprotectyour
paintassoonasoneweekafteryour vehicle
hasbeendeLivered.
Even ifyou regularly
useawaxingprocessin
automaticcarwashes,werecommendthat
youmanualLyappLyacoatofwaxtogivethe
paintextraprotection,particularLyifwaterno

beadsontheclean paint.
Pratectplastic bodypartswithcarwaxinthe
samewayasthevehicle body.
During
warmweatherdeadinsectstendto
collectonthefrontbumperandonthefor­
wardareaofthehood. Theyaremucheasier
toremovefrompaintthatiswaxedoften.
Polishing
Polish yourvehicleonLyifthepainthaslostits
shineandtheglosscannotbebroughtback
withwax.
Ifthepolishuseddoesnotcontainpreserva­
tive

Changingtheoilattherecommendedinter­
valsissoveryimportantbecausethelubricat­
ingprapertiesofoildecreasegraduallyduring
normalvehicleuse.Ifyouarenotsurewhen
youhaveyouroilchanged,askyourauthor­

orAPISMspecifications,buteventhen,only
inviscositygradesSAESW-40,SAE5W-30,or
5AE OW-40. However,duringtheentiretime
betweenoilchangeintervals,nevertopoff
withmorethanatotalof0.5qt/literengine
ailthatdoesnotconformtoAudioilspecifica­
tionVW50200.

Viscosity
Engine oilsaregradedaccordingtotheirvis­
cosity. The
praperviscositygradeoilforyour
enginedependsonclimacticorseasonalcon­
ditions
whereyou drive.Voucanuseoilwitha
viscosity
gradeofSAESW40acrossalltem­
peraturerangesfornormaldrivingconditions.
However, ifengineoilviscositygradeSAE
SW40isnotavailable,youcanalsouseviscos­
itygradeSAESW-30orSAEOW-40aslongas
ItmeetsAudi oilqualitystandardVWS0200
Specifications.
Because
engineoilthatmeetstheAudi oil
standardmaynotbeavailableeverywhere
when youneedit,westronglyrecommend
thatyoualwayscarrywithyouanextraquart
(lIter)ofoilthatexpresslyconformstothe
oilsavailabletodayprovidebetterenginelu­
brication
thatcanoutlasttraditionalpetrole­
um-based oils,makingthemasmartchoice
forusethraughoutthelifeofyourAudi.
