Theengineoilmustbechangedattheintervals
specifiedintheWarranty&MaintenanceBook-
let.Thisisveryimportantbecausethelubrication
functionoftheoilgraduallydeclinesduringregu-
larvehicleoperation.
Theengineoilshouldbechangedmorefrequent-
lyundercertaincircumstances.Havetheoil
changedmorefrequentlyifyouoftendriveshort
distances,yourvehicleispredominantlyinstop-
and-gotrafficsituations,isinverydustyenviron-
ments,orisoperatedforlongperiodsoftimein
temperaturesbelowzero.
Cleansingadditivesintheoilmakefreshoilap-
peardarkeraftertheenginehasrunbriefly.This
isnormalandnoreasontochangetheengineoil
morefrequentlythanrecommended.
Becausecorrectlydisposingofengineoilisdiffi-
cultandspecialtoolsandtechnicalknowledge
areneededforanoilchange,havingyourengine
oilchangedby anauthorizedAudidealerorau-
thorizedAudiServiceFacilityisrecommended.
Ifyouchangetheengineoilyourself,pleasenote
thefollowingimportantinformation:

—Wearprotectiveeyewear.
—Duetotheriskofscalding,allowtheengine
tocool downsufficiently.
—Maintainenoughdistancewhenyouarere-
movingtheoildrainplug.Whiledoingthis,
keep yourforearmparalleltothegroundto
reducetheriskofhotoildrippingdownyour
arm.

—Whenworkingintheenginecompartment,
rememberthattheradiatorfancanswitch
oneveniftheignitionisswitchedoff,which
increasestheriskofinjury.
—Coolantadditiveandcoolantcan bedanger-
oustoyourhealth.Forthisreason, storethe
coolantintheoriginalcontainerandaway
fromchildren.Thereisariskofpoisoning.
