~ Route it around or through the child restraint
belt path
¢ ,& .
~ Push the child safety seat down with your fu ll
weight to get the safety be lt really t ight.
~ Insert the belt tongue into the buckle for that
seat ing pos ition .
~ Guide the safety belt back into the retractor un
t il the belt lies flat and snug on the ch ild safety
seat.
~ Yo u should hear a "clicking" no ise as the belt
winds back into the inertia reel. Test the con
vertib le locking retractor by pu lling on the belt .
Yo u should no longer be ab le to p ull the belt
o ut of the retractor. The convertible locking re
tractor is now activated .
~ Make sure that the red release button is fac ing
away from the child restraint so that it can be
unbuckled qu ickly .
~Pullon the be lt to make sure the safety belt is
prope rly tig ht and fastened so that the seat
canno t move forward and s idew ays more th an
1 in (2 .5 cm).
A WARNING
Using t he wrong child restraint or an improp
erly installed c hild restraint can cause ser ious
personal inju ry or death in a cras h.
- Always make sure that the safety belt re -
tractor is locked when install ing a child
safety seat. An unlocked safety belt retrac
tor cannot hold the child sa fety seat in place
dur ing normal dr iving or in a crash.
- Always buckle the child safety seat firmly in
place even if a child is not sitting in it. A
loose child safety seat can fly around duri ng
a sudden stop or in a crash.
- Always make sure the seat backrest to which
the ch ild restraint is installed is in an up
r ight position. Ot he rw ise, the seatback w ith
the ch ild safety sea t atta ched to i t could fly
f orward in the even t of an ac cident o r othe r
eme rgency si tuation .
- Alw ays read and heed all WAR NINGS w hen
ever using a child restra ined in a veh icle is
being used

Deactivating the convertible locking
retractor
The convertible locking retractor for child re
straints will be deactivated automatically when
the belt is wound all the way back into the re
tractor .
~ Press the red button on the safety belt buckle.
The belt tongue will pop out of the buck le.
~ Guide the safety belt all the way back into its
stowed posit ion .
Always let the safety belt retract completely into its stowed posit ion . The safety be lt can now be
u sed as an ord inary safety belt w ithout the con
vertib le locking ret racto r fo r ch ild rest raints .
If the convertible locking retractor should be ac
t ivated inadvertently, the safety belt must be un
fastened and guided completely back into its
stowed pos ition to deactivate th is feature .
If the
conve rtible locking retractor is not deactivated,
t h e safety be lt will g radu ally become tigh ter and
u ncomfortab le to wear.

Aspect ratio
means the ratio of the height to
the width of the tire in percent .
Numbers of 55 or lower indicate a
low sidewall for improved steer

Bead
means the part of the tire that is
made of steel wires , wrapped or
reinfo rced by ply cords and that is
shaped to fit the rim .
Bead separation
means a breakdown of the bond
between components in the bead .
Cord
means the strands forming the
plies in the tire.
Cold tire inflation pressure
means the t ire pressure recom
mended by the vehic le manufac
turer for a tire of a designated

means the weight of a motor ve

at higher loads and at higher in
flation pressures than the corre
