Medical Condition.A passenger has a
medical condition which, according to his or
her physician:
·causes the passenger air bag to pose a special risk
for the passenger; and
·makes the potential harm from the passenger air
bag in a crash greater than the potential harm
from turning off the air bag and allowing the
passenger, even if belted, to hit the dashboard or
windshield in a crash.
{CAUTION:
If the passenger's air bags are turned off for a
person who is not in a risk group identi®ed by
the national government, that person will not
have the extra protection of the air bags. In a
crash, the air bags would not be able to in¯ate
and help protect the person sitting there. Do
not turn off the passenger's air bags unless
the person sitting there is in a risk group.United States

To turn off the passenger's air bags, insert your vehicle
key into the switch, push in, and move the switch to
the off position.The AIR BAG OFF light on the center console will come
on to let you know that the passenger's air bags are
off. The passenger's air bags will remain off until
you turn them back on again, and the AIR BAG OFF
light will stay on to remind you that the air bags are off. Canada

Servicing Your Air Bag-Equipped
Vehicle
Air bags affect how your vehicle should be serviced.
There are parts of the air bag system in several places
around your vehicle. You don't want the system to
in¯ate while someone is working on your vehicle. Your
dealer and the service manual have information
about servicing your vehicle and the air bag system. To
purchase a service manual, see
Service Publications
Ordering Information on page 7-11.
{CAUTION:
For up to 10 seconds after the vehicle is
turned off and the battery is disconnected, an
air bag can still in¯ate during improper
service. You can be injured if you are close to
an air bag when it in¯ates. Avoid yellow wires,
wires wrapped with yellow tape or yellow
connectors. They are probably part of the air
bag system. Be sure to follow proper service
procedures, and make sure the person
performing work for you is quali®ed to do so.
The air bag systems do not need regular maintenance.
Restraint System Check
Checking Your Restraint Systems
Now and then, make sure the safety belt reminder light
and all your belts, buckles, latch plates, retractors
and anchorages are working properly. Look for any other
loose or damaged safety belt system parts. If you see
anything that might keep a safety belt system from doing
its job, have it repaired.
Torn or frayed safety belts may not protect you in a
crash. They can rip apart under impact forces. If a belt
is torn or frayed, get a new one right away.
Also look for any opened or broken air bag covers, and
have them repaired or replaced. (The air bag system
does not need regular maintenance.)

Replacing Restraint System Parts
After a Crash
{CAUTION:
A crash can damage the restraint systems in
your vehicle. A damaged restraint system may
not properly protect the person using it,
resulting in serious injury or even death in a
crash. To help make sure your restraint
systems are working properly after a crash,
have them inspected and any necessary
replacements made as soon as possible.
If you have had a crash, do you need new belts or
LATCH system parts?
After a very minor collision, nothing may be necessary.
But if the belts were stretched, as they would be if
worn during a more severe crash, then you need
new parts.If the LATCH system was being used during a more
severe crash, you may need new LATCH system parts.
If belts are cut or damaged, replace them. Collision
damage also may mean you will need to have LATCH
system, safety belt or seat parts repaired or replaced.
New parts and repairs may be necessary even if the belt
or LATCH system was not being used at the time of
the collision.
If an air bag in¯ates, you will need to replace air bag
system parts. See the part on the air bag system earlier
in this section.
If the frontal air bags in¯ate, you will also need to
replace the driver's and passenger's safety belt buckle
assembly. Be sure to do so. Then the new buckle
assembly will be there to help protect you in a collision.
After a crash you may need to replace the driver and
front passenger's safety belt buckle assemblies, even if
the frontal air bags have not deployed. The driver
and front passenger's safety belt buckle assemblies
contain the safety belt pretensioners. Have your safety
belt pretensioners checked if your vehicle has been
in a collision, or if your air bag readiness light stays on
after you start your vehicle or while you are driving.

Keys
{CAUTION:
Leaving children unattended in a vehicle is
dangerous, but it is even more dangerous if
the keyless access transmitter is also left in
the vehicle. A child or others could be badly
injured or even killed.
They could operate the power windows or
other controls or even make the vehicle move.
If they started the engine and moved the shift
lever out of PARK (P), that would release the
parking brake.
Don't leave the keyless access transmitter in a
vehicle with children.

Your vehicle has a keyless access system with
pushbutton start. See
Ignition Positions on page 2-19for information on starting the vehicle.
Notice:Your vehicle has a number of features that
can help prevent theft. You can have a lot of
trouble getting into your vehicle if you ever lose
your transmitters and/or key. You may even have to
damage your vehicle to get in. So be sure you
have a spare transmitter and/or key.In an emergency, contact Cadillac Roadside Assistance.

If your vehicle is equipped with the OnStar
žsystem,
OnStaržmay be able to send a command to unlock your
vehicle if needed. If the vehicle battery is dead,
OnStar
žwill be unable to unlock the vehicle. SeeOnStaržSystem on page 2-35for more information.
Keyless Access System
Your vehicle has a Keyless Access system that operates
on a radio frequency subject to Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) Rules and with Industry Canada.
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules.
Operation is subject to the following two conditions:
(1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and
(2) this device must accept any interference received,
including interference that may cause undesired
operation.
This device complies with RSS-210 of Industry Canada.
Operation is subject to the following two conditions:
(1) this device may not cause interference, and (2) this
device must accept any interference received,
including interference that may cause undesired
operation of the device.

Changes or modi®cations to this system by other than
an authorized service facility could void authorization to
use this equipment.
If you ever notice a decrease in the remote keyless
entry transmitter range, try doing one of the following:
·Check the distance. You may be too far from
your vehicle. You may need to stand closer during
rainy or snowy weather.
·Check the location. Other vehicles or objects may
be blocking the signal. Take a few steps to the
left or right, hold the transmitter higher, and
try again.
·Check to determine if battery replacement is
necessary. See ªBattery Replacementº under
Keyless Access System Operation on page 2-4.
·Check to make sure that an electronic device such
as a cellular phone or lap top computer is not
causing interference.
·If you're still having trouble, see your dealer or a
quali®ed technician for service.
Keyless Access System Operation
Your vehicle has a keyless access system that
allows you to lock and unlock your doors, unlock
your trunk lid and disarm or arm your theft-deterrent
system. The range distance is as much as 100 feet
(30 m) away.
Your vehicle comes
standard with two
transmitters, and up to four
can be matched to your
vehicle. See ªMatching
Transmitter(s) to Your
Vehicleº later in this
section.
Q(Lock):Press this button to lock the doors. The
light on the door will ¯ash once. If this button is pressed
twice, the doors will lock, the light will ¯ash once and
the horn will sound once.
