Caution
Even small amounts of
contamination can cause damage
to vehicle systems. Do not allow
contaminants to contact the fluids,
reservoir caps, or dipsticks.
Hood
To open the hood:
1. Pull the hood release lever withthis symbol on it. It is inside the
vehicle on the lower side of the
instrument panel.
2. Go to the front of the vehicle tofind the secondary hood
release handle. The handle is
under the front edge of the
hood near the center. Push the
handle to the right, then raise
the hood. To close the hood:
1. Before closing the hood, be sure all the filler caps are on
properly.
2. Lower the hood from full open to within 15 cm (6 in) from the
closed position, pause, then
push the front center of the
hood with a swift, firm motion
to fully close the hood. Check
to make sure the hood is
closed and repeat the process
if necessary.

the engine air cleaner/filter (away
from the vehicle), to release dust
and dirt. Inspect the engine air
cleaner/filter for damage, and
replace if damaged. Do not clean
the engine air cleaner/filter or
components with water or
compressed air.
To inspect or replace the engine air
cleaner/filter:
1. Remove the five screws on topof the engine air cleaner/filter
housing.
2. Lift the air cleaner/filter cover housing away from the engine.
3. Pull out the filter. 4. Inspect or replace the engine
air cleaner/filter.
5. Reverse Steps 1–3 to reinstall the filter cover housing.
{Warning
Operating the engine with the air
cleaner/filter off can cause you or
others to be burned. The air
cleaner not only cleans the air; it
helps to stop flames if the engine
backfires. Use caution when
working on the engine and do not
drive with the air cleaner/filter off.
Caution
If the air cleaner/filter is off, dirt
can easily get into the engine,
which could damage it. Always
have the air cleaner/filter in place
when you are driving.
Cooling System
The cooling system allows the
engine to maintain the correct
working temperature.

Engine Coolant 50/50 mixture of clean, drinkable water and use only DEX-COOL
®Coolant.

Engine Oil Engine oil meeting the dexos1™ specification of the proper SAE viscosity
grade. ACDelco dexos1 Synthetic Blend is recommended. See Engine

Hood and Door Hinges Multi-Purpose Lubricant, Superlube (GM Part No. 12346241).

Rear Axle Gear Fluid Dexron LS Axle Lubricant (GM Part No. 88862624).
Rear Differential Clutch Fluid Rear Axle Hydraulic Fluid (GM Part No. 88901975).
