Tire Pressure Light
For vehicles with the Tire PressureMonitor System (TPMS), this lightcomes on briefly when the engine isstarted. It provides informationabout tire pressures and the TPMS.
When the Light Is On Steady
This indicates that one or more ofthe tires are significantlyunderinflated.
ADriverInformationCenter(DIC)tire pressure message may alsodisplay. SeeTire Messages011 8.Stop as soon as possible, andinflate the tires to the pressure valueshown on the Tire and LoadingInformation label. SeeTirePressure0260.
When the Light Flashes First andThen Is On Steady
If the light flashes for about a minuteand then stays on, there may be aproblem with the TPMS. If theproblem is not corrected, the lightwill come on at every ignition cycle.SeeTire Pressure MonitorOperation0262.
Engine Oil Pressure Light
Caution
Lack of proper engine oil
maintenance can damage the
engine. Driving with the engine oil
low can also damage the engine.
The repairs would not be covered
by the vehicle warranty. Check
the oil level as soon as possible.
Add oil if required, but if the oil
level is within the operating range
and the oil pressure is still low,
have the vehicle serviced. Always
follow the maintenance schedule
for changing engine oil.
This light should come on briefly asthe engine is started. If it does notcome on, have the vehicle servicedby your dealer.
If the light comes on and stays on, itmeans that oil is not flowing throughthe engine properly. The vehiclecould be low on oil and might havesome other system problem. Seeyour dealer.

Low Fuel Warning Light
English Shown, Metric Similar
This light comes on for a fewseconds when the ignition is turnedon as a check to indicate it isworking. If it does not come on,have it fixed.
The low fuel warning light comes onand a chime sounds when thevehicle is low on fuel. The light turnsoff when fuel is added to thefuel tank.

Security Light
The security light should come onbriefly as the engine is started. If itdoes not come on, have the vehicleserviced by your dealer. If thesystem is working normally, theindicator light turns off.
If the light stays on and the enginedoes not start, there could be aproblem with the theft-deterrentsystem. SeeImmobilizerOperation033.
High-Beam On Light
This light comes on when thehigh-beam headlamps are in use.

Cruise Control Light
This light comes on when the cruisecontrol is set.
This light goes out when the cruisecontrol is canceled. SeeCruiseControl0192.

Information Displays
Driver Information
Center (DIC)
This vehicle has a DIC.
All messages will appear in the DICdisplay at the bottom of theinstrument cluster.
The DIC comes on when the ignitionis on. After a short delay, the DICwill display the information that waslast displayed before the enginewas turned off.
The DIC displays trip, fuel, andvehicle system information, andwarning messages if a systemproblem is detected.
If the vehicle has these features, theDIC also displays the compassdirection and the outside airtemperature when viewing the tripand fuel information. The compassdirection appears on the top rightcorner of the DIC display. Theoutside air temperatureautomatically appears in the bottomright corner of the DIC display.
If there is a problem with the systemthat controls the temperaturedisplay, the numbers will bereplaced with dashes. If this occurs,have the vehicle serviced by yourdealer.
If the vehicle has a diesel engine,see the Duramax dieselsupplement.
DIC Operation and Displays
The DIC has different displayswhich can be accessed by pressingthe DIC buttons on the instrumentpanel, next to the instrument cluster.
DIC Buttons
The buttons are the trip/fuel, vehicleinformation, customization, and set/reset buttons. The button functionsare detailed in the following pages.
3:Press this button to displaythe odometer, trip odometers, fuelrange, average economy, fuel used,timer, average speed, and digitaltachometer.
T:Press this button to display theoil life, rear park assist, units, tirepressure readings for vehicles withthe Tire Pressure MonitorSystem (TPMS), engine hours, TirePressure Monitor System (TPMS)programming for vehicles with theTPMS and without a RemoteKeyless Entry (RKE) transmitter, andcompass zone and compasscalibration on vehicles with thisfeature.
U:Press this button to customizethe feature settings on the vehicle.SeeVehicle Personalization011 9for more information.
V:Press this button to set or resetcertain functions and to turn off oracknowledge messages on the DIC.

When the remaining oil life is low,the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOONmessage will appear on the display.SeeEngine Oil Messages011 4.Yo u s h o u l d c h a n g e t h e o i l a s s o o nas possible. SeeEngine Oil0219.In addition to the engine oil lifesystem monitoring the oil life,additional maintenance isrecommended in the MaintenanceSchedule in this manual. SeeMaintenance Schedule0297.
Remember, you must reset the OILLIFE yourself after each oil change.It will not reset itself. Also, becareful not to reset the OIL LIFEaccidentally at any time other thanwhen the oil has just been changed.It cannot be reset accurately untilthe next oil change. To reset theengine oil life system, seeEngineOil Life System0221.
Park Assist
If the vehicle has the Rear Parking
Assist (RPA) system, pressTuntil
PA R K A S S I S T d i s p l a y s . T h i sdisplay allows the system to beturned on or off. Once in thisdisplay, press to select between ON
or OFF. The RPA systemautomatically turns back on aftereach vehicle start. When the RPAsystem is turned off and the vehicleis shifted out of P (Park), the DICwill display the PARK ASSIST OFFmessage as a reminder that thesystem has been turned off. Units
PressTuntil UNITS displays. This
display allows you to select betweenmetric or English units ofmeasurement. Once in this display,
pressVto select between METRIC
or ENGLISH units.
Tire Pressure
If the vehicle has the Tire PressureMonitor System (TPMS), thepressure for each tire can be viewedin the DIC. The tire pressure will beshown in either kilopascals (kPa) orpounds per square inch (psi).

If the tire pressure display showsdashes instead of a value, theremay be a problem with the vehicle.If this consistently occurs, see yourdealer for service.
Engine Hours
PressTuntil ENGINE HOURS
displays. This display shows thetotal number of hours the enginehas run.
Relearn Tire Positions
The vehicle may have this display.To a c c e s s t h i s d i s p l a y, t h e v e h i c l emust be in P (Park). If the vehiclehas the Tire Pressure MonitorSystem (TPMS), after rotating thetires or after replacing a tire or

Change Compass Zone

The vehicle may have this feature.The compass can be manuallycalibrated. To calibrate the compassthrough the DIC, seeCompass090.
Blank Display
This display shows no information.
Vehicle Messages
Messages displayed on the DICindicate the status of the vehicle orsome action may be needed tocorrect a condition. Multiplemessages may appear one afteranother.
The messages that do not requireimmediate action can beacknowledged and cleared by
pressingV(Set/Reset).
The messages that requireimmediate action cannot be cleareduntil that action is performed.
All messages should be takenseriously and clearing the messagedoes not correct the problem.
The following are the possiblemessages and some informationabout them.

Battery Voltage and
Charging Messages
SERVICE BATTERY
CHARGING SYSTEM
On some vehicles, this messagedisplays if there is a problem withthe battery charging system. Undercertain conditions, the chargingsystem light may also turn on in theinstrument cluster. SeeChargingSystem Light0101.Drivingwiththisproblem could drain the battery.Turn off all unnecessaryaccessories. Have the electricalsystem checked as soon aspossible. See your dealer.
Brake System Messages
SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM
This message displays along withthe brake system warning light ifthere is a problem with the brakesystem. SeeBrake System WarningLight0104.Ifthismessageappears, stop as soon as possibleand turn off the vehicle. Restart thevehicle and check for the message

CIRCLES
This message displays whencalibrating the compass. Drive thevehicle in circles at less than 8 km/h(5 mph) to complete the calibration.SeeCompass090for moreinformation.

Door Ajar Messages
CARGO DOOR OPEN
This message displays and a chimesounds if the cargo door is openwhile the ignition is in ON/RUN.Turn off the vehicle and check the
cargo door. Restart the vehicle andcheck for the message on the DICdisplay.
DRIVER DOOR OPEN
This message displays and a chimesounds if the driver door is not fullyclosed and the vehicle is in a drivegear. Stop and turn off the vehicle,check the door for obstructions, andclose the door again. Check to seeif the message still appears onthe DIC.
LEFT REAR DOOR OPEN
On some vehicles, this messagedisplays and a chime sounds if thedriver side rear door is not fullyclosed and the vehicle is in a drivegear. Stop and turn off the vehicle,check the door for obstructions, andclose the door again. Check to seeif the message still appears onthe DIC.
PASSENGER DOOR OPEN
This message displays and a chimesounds if the passenger door is notfully closed and the vehicle is in adrive gear. Stop and turn off the
vehicle, check the door forobstructions, and close the dooragain. Check to see if the messagestill appears on the DIC.
RIGHT REAR DOOR OPEN
On some vehicles, this messagedisplays and a chime sounds if thepassenger side rear door is not fullyclosed and the vehicle is in a drivegear. Stop and turn off the vehicle,check the door for obstructions, andclose the door again. Check to seeif the message still appears onthe DIC.

ENGINE HOT A/C (Air
Conditioning) OFF
This message displays when theengine coolant becomes hotter thanthe normal operating temperature.SeeEngine Coolant TemperatureGauge098.Toavoidaddedstrainon a hot engine, the air conditioningcompressor automatically turns off.When the coolant temperaturereturns to normal, the air

ENGINE OVERHEATED IDLE

This message displays when theengine coolant temperature is toohot. Stop and allow the vehicle toidle until it cools down. SeeEngineCoolant Temperature Gauge098.
ENGINE OVERHEATED STOP
ENGINE
This message displays and a chimesounds if the engine cooling systemreaches unsafe temperatures foroperation. Stop and turn off thevehicle as soon as it is safe to do soto avoid severe damage. Thismessage clears when the enginehas cooled to a safe operatingtemperature.
Engine Oil Messages
CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON

OIL PRESSURE LOW STOP
ENGINE
This message displays if low oilpressure levels occur. Stop thevehicle as soon as safely possibleand do not operate it until the causeof the low oil pressure has been

Engine Power Messages
ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED
This message displays and a chimesounds when the cooling systemtemperature gets too hot and theengine further enters the enginecoolant protection mode. SeeEngine Overheating0230forfurther information.
This message also displays whenthe engine power is reduced.Reduced engine power can affectthe vehicle's ability to accelerate.If this message is on, but there is noreduction in performance, proceedto your destination. Theperformance may be reduced thenext time the vehicle is driven. Thevehicle may be driven at a reducedspeed while this message is on, butacceleration and speed may bereduced. Anytime this message

This message may display alongwith the check engine light on theinstrument cluster if the fuel cap isnot tightened properly. SeeFilling the Tank0200.Thediagnosticsystemcandetermine if the fuel cap has beenleft off or improperly installed.Alooseormissingfuelcapallowsfuel to evaporate into theatmosphere. A few driving trips withthe cap properly installed shouldturn this light and message off.

Youshould see your dealer for service.The vehicle is safe to drive,however, you do not have thebenefit of StabiliTrak, so reduceyour speed and drive accordingly.

benefits of the stabilityenhancement system, you shouldnormally leave StabiliTrak on.However, you should turnStabiliTrak off if the vehicle getsstuck in sand, mud, ice, or snowand you want to rock the vehicle toattempt to free it, or if you aredriving in extreme off-roadconditions and require more wheelspin. This message displays briefly whenthe theft-deterrent system hasinitially found incorrect conditionswithin the vehicle and is making adouble check. If your vehicle doesnot start soon after, try to start itagain. If it still does not start, haveyour vehicle serviced by yourdealer.

This message displays when theelectronic sensors that control theair conditioning and heatingsystems are no longer working.
