Seat Adjustment
Manual Front Seats
To a d j u s t a m a n u a l s e a t :
1. Pull the handle at the front ofthe seat.
2. Slide the seat to the desiredposition and release thehandle.
3. Try to move the seat back andforth to be sure it is locked inplace.
Manual Seat Height Adjuster
Move the lever on the outboard sideof the seat up or down to manuallyraise or lower the seat.

Transmission
Electronic Range Select
(ERS) Mode
ERS mode allows you to choose thetop-gear limit of the transmissionand the vehicle's speed whiledriving downhill or towing a trailer.The vehicle has an electronic shiftposition indicator within theinstrument cluster. When using theERS mode a number will displaynext to the L, indicating the currentgear that has been selected.
To u s e t h i s f e a t u r e :
1. Move the shift lever to L (Low).
2. Press + (Plus) or✓(Minus) onthe shift lever to increase ordecrease the gear rangeavailable.

Hybrid Low Mode
When descending steep grades orin stop-and-go traffic, L (Low)provides the ability to slow thevehicle with regenerative brakingwhen lifting off the accelerator

Hybrid Vehicle Operation
The hybrid vehicle combinesgasoline and electric propulsion todrive the vehicle. The gas enginewill automatically start to providepower. It will shut off to save fuel.The engine may remainrunning when:
.There is aggressive accelerationor climbing hills.
.Vehicle speed is greater than88 km/h (55 mph).
.The high voltage battery ischarging.
.The heater is being used.
The engine and transmission worktogether to provide the requiredpower at the highest efficiency. Thismay result in higher engine speeds.SeeDriving for Better FuelEconomy029.
High Voltage Safety
Information
{Warning
Exposure to high voltage can
cause shock, burns, and even
death. The high voltage
components in the vehicle can
only be serviced by technicians
with special training.
High voltage components are
identified by labels. Do not
remove, open, take apart,
or modify these components.
High voltage cable or wiring has
orange covering or labels. Do not
probe, tamper with, cut, or modify
high voltage cable or wiring.
This vehicle has a high voltagebattery and a standard 12-voltbattery.
If the vehicle is in a crash, thesensing system may shut down thehigh voltage system. When thisoccurs, the high voltage battery isdisconnected and the vehicle will
not start. The SERVICE VEHICLESOON message in the DriverInformation Center (DIC) will bedisplayed. Before the vehicle can beoperated again, it must be servicedat your dealer.
{Warning
Damage to the high voltage
battery or high voltage system
can create a risk of electric shock,
overheating, or fire.
If the vehicle is damaged from a
moderate to severe crash, flood,
fire, or other event, the vehicle
should be inspected as soon as
possible. Until the vehicle has
been inspected, store it outside at
least 15 m (50 ft) from any
structure or anything that can
burn. Ventilate the vehicle by
opening a window or a door.

transmitter is dangerous and
children or others could be
seriously injured or killed. They
could operate the power windows
or other controls or make the
vehicle move. The windows will
function with the RKE transmitter
in the vehicle, and children or
others could be caught in the path
of a closing window. Do not leave
children in a vehicle with an RKE
transmitter.

The key that is part of the RemoteKeyless Entry (RKE) transmitter canbe used for all locks.
To r e m o v e t h e k e y, p r e s s t h e b u t t o nnear the bottom of the transmitter,and pull the key out. Never pull thekey out without pressing the button.
See your dealer if a new key isneeded.
If locked out of the vehicle, seeRoadside AssistanceProgram0387.
With an active OnStar subscription,an OnStar Advisor may remotelyunlock the vehicle. SeeOnStarOverview0397.
Remote Keyless Entry
(RKE) System

If there is a decrease in the RemoteKeyless Entry (RKE) operatingrange:
.Check the distance. Thetransmitter may be too far fromthe vehicle.
.Check the location. Othervehicles or objects may beblocking the signal.
.Check the transmitter's battery.See“Battery Replacement”laterin this section.
.If the transmitter is still notworking correctly, see yourdealer or a qualified technicianfor service.
Remote Keyless Entry
(RKE) System Operation
The Keyless Access system allowsfor vehicle entry when thetransmitter is within 1 m (3 ft). See“Keyless Access Operation”following.
The transmitter functions may workup to 60 m (197 ft) away from thevehicle.
Other conditions, such as thosepreviously stated, can impact theperformance of the transmitter.

If the driver door is open whenQis
pressed, all doors will lock and thenthe driver door will immediatelyunlock, if enabled through vehiclepersonalization. SeeVehiclePersonalization0147.
If the passenger door is open whenQis pressed, all doors lock.
PressingQmay also arm the alarm
system. SeeVehicle AlarmSystem046.
K:Press to unlock the driver door.Press again within five seconds tounlock all doors. The RKEtransmitter can be programmed tounlock all doors on the first buttonpress. SeeVehiclePersonalization0147.
The turn signal indicators may flashto indicate unlocking. SeeVehiclePersonalization0147.
PressingKwill disarm the alarm
system. SeeVehicle AlarmSystem046.
X:Press twice quickly to releasethe trunk.
7:Press and release one time toinitiate vehicle locator. The exteriorlamps flash and the horn chirpsthree times.
Press and hold7for at least
three seconds to sound the panicalarm. The horn sounds and the
turn signals flash for about
30 seconds until7is pressed again
or the vehicle is started.
/:For vehicles with this feature,
pressQand release and then press
and hold/for at least
four seconds to start the enginefrom outside the vehicle using theRKE transmitter. SeeRemoteVehicle Start038.
Keyless Access Operation
The Keyless Access system letsyou lock and unlock the doors andaccess the trunk without removingthe RKE transmitter from yourpocket, purse, briefcase, etc. TheRKE transmitter should be within1m (3ft) of the door or trunk/hatchbeing opened. If equipped, there willbe buttons on the outside doorhandles.
The Keyless Access can beprogrammed to unlock all doors onthe first unlock/lock button pressfrom the driver door. SeeVehiclePersonalization0147.

Keyless Unlocking/Locking fromthe Driver Door
When the doors are locked and theRKE transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft)of the driver door handle, pressingthe lock/unlock button on the driverdoor handle will unlock the driverdoor. If the lock/unlock button ispressed again within five seconds,all passenger doors will unlock. Pullthe door handle to unlatch the door.

Front and Both Rear Similar
Pressing the lock/unlock button willcause all doors to lock if any of thefollowing occur:
.It has been more thanfive seconds since the first lock/unlock button press.
.Tw o l o c k / u n l o c k b u t t o n p r e s s e swere used to unlock all doors.
.Any vehicle door has openedand all doors are now closed.
Keyless Unlocking/Locking fromPassenger Doors
When the doors are locked and theRKE transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft)of the door handle, pressing thelock/unlock button on that doorhandle will unlock all doors.
Pressing the lock/unlock button willcause all doors to lock if any of thefollowing occur:
.The lock/unlock button was usedto unlock all doors.
.Any vehicle door has openedand all doors are now closed.
Passive Locking
This feature will lock the vehicleseveral seconds after all doors areclosed, if the vehicle is off and atleast one RKE transmitter has beenremoved from the interior or noneremain in the interior.
If other electronic devices interferewith the RKE transmitter signal, thevehicle may not detect the RKEtransmitter inside the vehicle.If passive locking is enabled, thedoors may lock with the RKEtransmitter inside the vehicle. Donot leave the RKE transmitter in anunattended vehicle.
To c u s t o m i z e t h e d o o r s t oautomatically lock when exiting thevehicle, seeVehiclePersonalization0147.
Temporary Disable of the PassiveLocking Feature
Te m p o r a r i l y d i s a b l e p a s s i v e l o c k i n g
by pressing and holdingKon the
interior door switch with a door openfor at least four seconds, or untilthree chimes are heard. Passivelocking will then remain disabled
