Lighting Features
Entry Lighting
Some exterior lamps and most ofthe interior lamps turn on briefly
whenKis pressed on the Remote
Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter.After about 30 seconds the exteriorlamps turn off, and then the domeand remaining interior lamps will dimto off.
This feature can be changed. See“Ve h i c l e L o c a t o r L i g h t s”underVehicle Personalization0120.
Exit Lighting
The exterior lamps will illuminate anarea with limited lighting for a setamount of time when the ignition isturned to LOCK/OFF.
This feature can be changed. SeeVehicle Personalization0120.
Battery Power Protection
To p r e v e n t t h e b a t t e r y f r o m b e i n gdrained, the glove box, trunk, andreading lamps automatically turn off10 minutes after the ignition isturned off.
The lamps are reactivated if any ofthe following occur:
.The ignition is turned on.
.The vehicle is unlocked.
.The trunk is opened.

The fuel cap is behind a hinged fueldoor on the passenger side of thevehicle. To open the fuel door, pushand release the rearward centeredge of the door.
{Warning
Overfilling the fuel tank by more
than three clicks of a standard fill
nozzle may cause:
.Vehicle performance issues,including engine stalling anddamage to the fuel system.
.Fuel spills.
.Potential fuel fires.
Be careful not to spill fuel. Wait afew seconds after you have finishedpumping before removing thenozzle. Clean fuel from paintedsurfaces as soon as possible. SeeExterior Care0338.
When replacing the fuel cap, turn itclockwise until it clicks. Make surethe cap is fully installed. Thediagnostic system can determine ifthe fuel cap has been left off or
improperly installed. This wouldallow fuel to evaporate into theatmosphere. SeeMalfunctionIndicator Lamp (Check EngineLight)0100.
{Warning
If a fire starts while you are
refueling, do not remove the
nozzle. Shut off the flow of fuel by
shutting off the pump or by
notifying the station attendant.
Leave the area immediately.
Caution
If a new fuel cap is needed, be
sure to get the right type of cap
from your dealer. The wrong type
of fuel cap may not fit properly,
may cause the malfunction
indicator lamp to light, and could
damage the fuel tank and
emissions system. See
Malfunction Indicator Lamp

Filling a Portable Fuel
Container
{Warning
Filling a portable fuel container
while it is in the vehicle can cause
fuel vapors that can ignite either
by static electricity or other
means. You or others could be
badly burned and the vehicle
could be damaged. Always:
.Use approved fuelcontainers.
.Remove the container fromthe vehicle, trunk, or pickupbed before filling.
.Place the container on theground.
.Place the nozzle inside thefill opening of the containerbefore dispensing fuel, andkeep it in contact with the fillopening until filling iscomplete.

There are only two reasons why thebrake fluid level in the reservoir maygo down:
.Normal brake lining wear. Whennew linings are installed, thefluid level goes back up.
.Afluidleakinthebrake/clutchhydraulic system. Have thebrake/clutch hydraulic systemfixed. With a leak, the brakes willnot work well.
Always clean the brake fluidreservoir cap and the area aroundthe cap before removing it.
Do not top off the brake/clutch fluid.Adding fluid does not correct a leak.If fluid is added when the linings areworn, there will be too much fluidwhen new brake linings areinstalled. Add or remove fluid, asnecessary, only when work is doneon the brake/clutch hydraulicsystem.
{Warning
If too much brake fluid is added, it
can spill on the engine and burn,
if the engine is hot enough. You
or others could be burned, and
the vehicle could be damaged.
Add brake fluid only when work is
done on the brake/clutch
hydraulic system.
When the brake/clutch fluid falls to alow level, the brake warning lightcomes on. SeeBrake SystemWarning Light0102.
Brake fluid absorbs water over timewhich degrades the effectiveness ofthe brake fluid. Replace brake fluidat the specified intervals to preventincreased stopping distance. SeeMaintenance Schedule0349.
What to Add
Use only GM approved DOT 4brake fluid from a clean, sealedcontainer. SeeRecommendedFluids and Lubricants0358.
{Warning
The wrong or contaminated brake
fluid could result in damage to the
brake system. This could result in
the loss of braking leading to a
possible injury. Always use the
proper GM approved brake fluid.
Caution
If brake fluid is spilled on the
vehicle's painted surfaces, the
paint finish can be damaged.
Immediately wash off any painted
surface.
Battery - North America
The original equipment battery ismaintenance free. Do not removethe cap and do not add fluid.
The battery is in the trunk, behind atrim panel, on the driver side of thevehicle. Refer to the replacement

number shown on the originalbattery label when a new battery isneeded.
{Warning
Aspecificallydevelopedbattery
with a ventilation system is
required for this vehicle. Any
other standard battery may cause
explosive gases to enter the trunk
or passenger compartment.
Do not remove the caps on the
top of the battery. The battery
supplied in the vehicle is
maintenance free and does not
require checking or filling.
The battery vent tube must be
installed correctly to ensure the
explosive gases are vented
outside the vehicle.
Only use a manufacturer
recommended battery as a
replacement.

When to Check Lubricant
It is not necessary to regularlycheck rear axle fluid unless yoususpect there is a leak or you hearan unusual noise. A fluid loss couldindicate a problem. Have itinspected and repaired.

6. Dispose of the tire sealantcanister at your dealer or inaccordance with local or Statecodes and practices.
To i n s t a l l a n e w s e a l a n t c a n i s t e r :
1. Align the sealant/air hose (5)with the slot in the compressor.
2. Push the tire sealantcanister (3) down and turn itclockwise.
3. Wrap the sealant/air hose (5)around the air compressorchannel to stow it in its originallocation.
4. Push the air only hose (4) ontothe tire sealant canister (3) inletand push the lever down.
Storing the Tire Sealant
and Compressor Kit

1. Open the trunk.
2. Lift the cover with the handle/strap and attach the hook tothe trunk lid.
The tire sealant and air compressorkit is located in a foam container inthe trunk, under the floor carpet.

2. Lift the cover with the handle/strap and attach the hook tothe trunk lid.
3. Turn the retainer nutcounterclockwise to remove it.
4. Place the spare tire next to thetire being changed.
5. The vehicle may have asecond retainer nut and panel.

6. Remove the tools and placethem near the tire beingchanged.
Remove the tool container fromthe vehicle, if necessary.
Removing the Flat Tire and
Installing the Spare Tire
1. Do a safety check beforeproceeding. SeeIf a Tire GoesFlat0322.
2. Turn the wheel wrenchcounterclockwise to loosen allthe wheel nuts.
Do not remove the wheel nuts.
3. Place the jack near the flat tire.
4. Place the spare tire near you.

15. Tighten the wheel nuts firmly inacrisscrosssequence,asshown.
16. Lower the jack all the way andremove the jack from under thevehicle.
17. Tighten the wheel nuts firmlywith the wheel wrench.
Storing a Flat or Spare Tire
and Tools
{Warning
Storing a jack, a tire, or other
equipment in the passenger
compartment of the vehicle could
cause injury. In a sudden stop or
collision, loose equipment could
strike someone. Store all these in
the proper place.
Replace the jack, tools, containerand flat tire in the trunk by reversingthe steps used to remove them.
Full-Size Spare Tire
If this vehicle came with a full-sizespare tire, it was fully inflated whennew, however, it can lose air overtime. Check the inflation pressureregularly. SeeTire Pressure0309andVehicle Load Limits0226forinformation regarding proper tireinflation and loading the vehicle. Forinstructions on how to remove,install, or store a spare tire, seeTireChanging0329.
After installing the spare tire on thevehicle, stop as soon as possibleand check that the spare is correctlyinflated. The spare tire is made toperform well at speeds up to11 2 k m / h ( 7 0 m p h ) a t t h erecommended inflation pressure, soyou can finish your trip.
The full-size spare includes a TPMSsensor. The TPMS will not monitoror display the spare tire air pressureuntil the tire/wheel is installed at oneof the four tire/wheel positions onthe vehicle and matched to the newposition. SeeTire Pressure MonitorOperation0312for informationabout matching the spare tire tothe TPMS.
Have the damaged or flat road tirerepaired or replaced and installedback onto the vehicle as soon aspossible so the spare tire will beavailable in case it is needed again.Do not mix tires and wheels ofdifferent sizes, because they will notfit. Keep the spare tire and its wheeltogether.
