or off-road use only and should not be done on any public roadways. It is recommended
that these features be used in a controlled environment and within the limits of the law. The
capabilities of the vehicle as measured by the performance pages must never be exploited in

SUMMER/THREE-SEASON TIRES
• This vehicle may be equipped with wheels and tires to enhance traction in both wet and dryconditions.
• Summer tires are not intended to be driven in snow or on ice.
• Summer tires have significantly reduced grip in temperatures below 50°F (10°C)
• Use summer tires only in sets of four.
NOTE:
Summer tires will not contain the all season designation or mountain/snowflake symbol on the
sidewall of the tire.
WARNING!
Do not use summer tires in snow/ice conditions. You could lose control, resulting in severe injury or
death. Driving too fast for conditions also creates the possibility of loss of vehicle control.

FREEING A STUCK VEHICLE
• If your vehicle becomes stuck in mud, sand or snow, it can often be moved using a rockingmotion. Turn the steering wheel right and left to clear the area around the front wheels. Then,
shift back and forth between REVERSE and DRIVE, while gently pressing the accelerator.
Use the least amount of accelerator pedal pressure that will maintain the rocking motion,
without spinning the wheels or racing the engine.
NOTE:
Press the "ESC Off" switch, to place the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system in "Partial
Off" mode, before rocking the vehicle. Once the vehicle has been freed, press the "ESC Off"
switch again to restore "ESC On" mode.
CAUTION!
• When “rocking” a stuck vehicle by shifting between REVERSE and DRIVE, do not spin the wheels faster than 15 mph (24 km/h), or drivetrain damage may result.
• Revving the engine or spinning the wheels too fast may lead to transmission overheating
and failure. It can also damage the tires. Do not spin the wheels above 30 mph (48 km/h)
while in gear (no transmission shifting occurring).
WARNING!
Fast spinning tires can be dangerous. Forces generated by excessive wheel speeds may cause
tire damage or failure. A tire could explode and injure someone. Do not spin your vehicle's
wheels faster than 30 mph (48 km/h) when you are stuck. Do not let anyone near a spinning
wheel, no matter what the speed.
EVENT DATA RECORDER (EDR)
• This vehicle is equipped with an Event Data Recorder (EDR). The main purpose of an EDR is
to record, in certain crash or near crash-like situations, such as an air bag deployment or hitting
a road obstacle, data that will assist in understanding how a vehicle’s systems performed. The
EDR is designed to record data related to vehicle dynamics and safety systems for a short
period of time, typically 30 seconds or less. The EDR in this vehicle is designed to record such
data as:• How various systems in your vehicle were operating.
• Whether or not the driver and passenger safety belts were buckled/fastened.
• How far (if at all) the driver was depressing the accelerator and/or brake pedal.
• How fast the vehicle was traveling.
• These data can help provide a better understanding of the circumstances in which crashes and injuries occur.

Your authorized dealer will reset the oil change indicator message after completing the scheduled
oil change. If a scheduled oil change is performed by someone other than your authorized dealer,
the message can be reset by referring to the steps described under “Electronic Vehicle Informa-
tion Center (EVIC)/Oil Change Required” in “Understanding Your Instrument Panel” or under
“Instrument Cluster Description/Odometer/Trip Odometer” in “Understanding Your Instrument
Panel” for further information.
NOTE:
Under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 10,000 miles (16,000 km) or twelve
months, whichever comes first.
Severe Duty All Models
Change Engine Oil at 4000 miles (6,500 km) if the vehicle is operated in a dusty and off road
environment. This type of vehicle use is considered Severe Duty
Once A Month Or Before A Long Trip:
• Check engine oil level
• Check windshield washer fluid level
• Check tire pressure and look for unusual wear or damage. Rotate tires at the first sign ofirregular wear, even if it occurs before your next scheduled service.
• Check the fluid levels of the coolant reservoir, brake master cylinder, and power steering and fill as needed.
• Check function of all interior and exterior lights
Required Maintenance Intervals.
Refer to the maintenance schedules on the following page for the required maintenance
intervals.
At Every Oil Change Interval As Indicated By Oil Change Indicator System:
• Change oil and filter
• Rotate the tires. Rotate at the first sign of irregular wear, even if it occurs before your next
scheduled service
• Inspect battery and clean and tighten terminals as required
• Inspect brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums, hoses and park brake
• Inspect engine cooling system protection and hoses
• Inspect exhaust system
• Inspect engine air cleaner if using in dusty or off-road conditions

At Each Stop For Fuel
• Check the engine oil level. Refer to “Maintenance Procedures/Engine Oil” in “MaintainingYour Vehicle” for further information.
• Check the windshield washer solvent and add if required.
Once A Month
• Check tire pressure and look for unusual wear or damage.
• Inspect the battery, and clean and tighten the terminals as required.
• Check the fluid levels of the coolant reservoir, brake master cylinder, and power steering, and add as needed.
• Check all lights and other electrical items for correct operation.
At Each Oil Change
• Change the engine oil filter.
• Inspect the brake hoses and lines.
CAUTION!
Failure to perform the required maintenance items may result in damage to the vehicle.
