FAMILIARISATION16 - This operation must be carried out
with t h e e n g i n e s w i t c h e d o f f .
Insert the key then turn it to the
left.
Remove the cap.
A label indicates which type of fuel to
use.
W h e n y o u fi l l y o u r t a n k , d o n o t c o n t i n u e
after the third cut-off of the pump. This
could cause engine malfunctions.
The capacity of the tank is approxi-
mately 55 litres for petrol engines
and 60 litres for Diesel engines. From the time this light comes on,
you have enough fuel left to cover
approximately 30 miles (50 km) .
Note: the right-hand sliding side door
cannot be opened while the fuel tank
cap is removed.
Outside the vehicle: Lift the control,
raise the bonnet and secure the strut
to keep the bonnet open.
OPENING THE BONNET
Inside the vehicle: Pull the control
on the left-hand side, under the fascia
panel.

Inside the vehicle: pull the handle on
t h e l e f t - h a n d s i d e , u n d e r t h e f a s c i a .
Outside the vehicle: lift the catch
a n d r a i s e t h e b o n n e t .
BONNET STRUT
Secure the strut to hold the bonnet
o p e n .
Before closing the bonnet, replace
t h e s t r u t i n i t s h o u s i n g .
FILLING WITH FUEL

fuel level in the tank is

the right-hand sliding side

The key cannot be removed
from the lock until the cap
has been replaced on the
f u e l t a n k .

RUNNING OUT OF FUEL (DIESEL)
I f y o u s h o u l d r u n o u t o f f u e l , i t i s n e c e s -
s a r y t o r e - p r i m e t h e c i r c u i t :
- fi l l t h e f u e l t a n k w i t h a t l e a s t fi v e litres of diesel,
- s q u e e z e a n d r e l e a s e t h e m a n u a l r e - p r i m i n g p u m p , u n d e r t h e b o n n e t
u n d e r t h e p r o t e c t i v e c o v e r , u n t i l f u e l
appears in the transparent pipe,
- o p e r a t e t h e s t a r t e r u n t i l t h e e n g i n e starts.
FUEL SUPPLY CUT-OFF (PETROL)
I n a s e r i o u s c o l l i s i o n , a m e c h a n i s m p r e v e n t s f u e l f r o m r e a c h i n g t h e e n g i n e .
T o r e - e s t a b l i s h t h e f u e l s u p p l y , p r e s s t h e
switch on the corner of the front right-
h a n d s u s p e n s i o n a s s e m b l y , u n d e r
the bonnet.
Air filter and passenger
c o m p a r t m e n t f i l t e r
H a v e t h e fi l t e r e l e m e n t s r e p l a c e d
r e g u l a r l y .
If you drive in dusty condi-
t i o n s , c h a n g e t h e m t w i c e a s o f t e n .
Brake pads
Brake pad wear depends on the style
o f d r i v i n g , i n p a r t i c u l a r f o r v e h i c l e s
w h i c h a r e u s e d i n t o w n , o v e r s h o r t
distances.
It may be necessary to check the
thickness of the pads, even between
services.

Handbrake
Where the handbrake travel is too
g r e a t o r t h e r e i s a r e d u c t i o n i n t h e
performance of the system, the
h a n d b r a k e s h o u l d b e a d j u s t e d , e v e n
between services.
Have the system checked by a
CITROËN dealer.
Battery
A t t h e s t a r t o f w i n t e r , h a v e y o u r
battery checked by a CITROËN dealer.

C. Tyres and paint colour reference.
The label C on the driver's door pillar,
near the hinges, gives:
- the wheel and tyre sizes,
- the tyre pressures: (tyre pressure
checks must be carried out cold,
at least every month) ,
- the paint colour reference.
