TOWING A TRAILER, CARAVAN, BOAT, ETC...
Distribution of loads
Distribute the load in the trailer so
that the heaviest objects are as
close as possible to the axle and
the nose weight is close to the
maximum authorised without, however,
exceeding it.
Cooling
Towing a trailer on a slope increases
the coolant temperature. As the fan is electrically controlled, its
cooling capacity is not dependent on
the engine speed.
On the contrary, use a high gear to
lower the engine speed and reduce
your speed.
In all cases, pay attention to the
coolant temperature.
Driving advice
A towed vehicle must free wheel:
gearbox in neutral.

1. PARKING THE VEHICLE

reverse gear. - I f a v a i l a b l e , p l a c e a c h o c k u n d e r

one to be changed.

- U n s c r e w t h e n u t t h e n t a k e o u t t h e j a c k a n d t h e w h e e l b r a c e .

3. SPARE WHEEL - Unscrew the bolt using the wheelbrace until the carrier is
lowered fully.
- O p e n t h e r e a r d o o r s t o g a i n a c c e s s
t o t h e s p a r e w h e e l . - D e t a c h t h e c a r r i e r f r o m t h e h o o k
a n d p l a c e t h e s p a r e w h e e l n e a r t h e
wheel to be changed.

4. OPERATING PROCEDURE - P l a c e t h e j a c k i n c o n t a c t w i t h t h e l o c a t i n g p o i n t p r o v i d e d , t h e o n e
which is closest to the wheel to be
c h a n g e d . E n s u r e t h a t t h e j a c k i s
s t r a i g h t a n d t h a t t h e b a s e o f t h e j a c k
is fully in contact with the ground.
- E x t e n d t h e j a c k t o l i f t t h e w h e e l clear of the ground.
- R e s u m e a n d c o m p l e t e t h e unscrewing of the wheel bolts.
- R e m o v e t h e b o l t s a n d r e m o v e t h e wheel.
D o n o t e x t e n d t h e j a c k u n t i l y o u h a v e
started unscrewing the bolts on the
w h e e l t o b e c h a n g e d a n d h a v e p l a c e d
t h e c h o c k u n d e r t h e w h e e l d i a g o n a l l y
o p p o s i t e .
- R e m o v e t h e t r i m p u l l i n g i t u s i n g t h e
embellisher remover.
- Loosen the wheel bolts and start unscrewing them. Security bolts
I f y o u r v e h i c l e i s fi t t e d w i t h a l l o y
wheels:
- Each wheel has a security bolt.
- T h e s e b o l t s c a n b e l o o s e n e d u s i n g
y o u r s e c u r i t y s o c k e t ( g i v e n t o y o u
on handover of your vehicle) and
the wheelbrace.

- T i g h t e n t h e b o l t s a g a i n u s i n g t h e wheelbrace, tighten them fully
without forcing them.
- P l a c e t h e w h e e l t o b e r e p a i r e d i n the carrier. - S e c u r e t h e c a r r i e r o n t h e h o o k t h e n
raise the carrier using the bolt and
the wheelbrace.
Never go underneath a vehicle
t h a t i s s u p p o r t e d o n l y b y a
j a c k ( u s e a r a m p ) . N e v e r u s e
a s c r e w d r i v e r i n p l a c e o f t h e
wheelbrace .
5. FITTING THE SPARE WHEEL
- Position the wheel on the hub and
start tightening the bolts by hand.
- C a r r y o u t a n i n i t i a l t i g h t e n i n g o f t h e bolts using the wheelbrace.

A l s o , h a v e t h e o r i g i n a l w h e e l r e p a i r e d
a n d r e fi t t e d b y a C I T R O Ë N d e a l e r a s
s o o n a s p o s s i b l e . R e f e r t o t h e " I d e n t i fi c a t i o n
m a r k i n g s " s e c t i o n o f c h a p t e r 8 t o
locate the tyre label.
According to country, the removable
snow screen is installed on the lower
p a r t o f t h e f r o n t b u m p e r t o p r e v e n t t h e
accumulation of snow at the radiator
cooling fan.
FITTING
REMOVAL
- Pass a screwdriver into the hole
l o c a t e d n e a r e a c h o f t h e c l i p s .
- Use the screwdriver as a lever to u n c l i p t h e f o u r c l i p s B in turn.
- O f f e r u p t h e s n o w s c r e e n f a c i n g i t s
c e n t r i n g p i n A o n t h e f r o n t b u m p e r .
- P u t i t i n p l a c e b y p r e s s i n g a t e a c h c l i p B located in the four corners.
R e f e r t o t h e " I n s t r u m e n t s a n d
c o n t r o l s " s e c t i o n o f c h a p t e r 2 ,
" T y r e u n d e r - i n fl a t i o n d e t e c t i o n "
p a r t , f o r r e c o m m e n d a t i o n s a f t e r
