Puncture
Stop immediately, avoiding any sudden
movement of the steering wheel and
the brakes.
Change the damaged (punctured or
v e r y d e fl a t e d ) t y r e , a n d h a v e t h e t y r e
pressure checked as soon as possible. Sensor(s) not detected
U n d e r - i n fl a t i o n d e t e c t i o n i s a b s e n t
from one (or several) tyre(s). Contact a
CITROËN dealer to replace the faulty
sensor(s).
This message is also displayed when
one of the tyres is away from the
vehicle (being repaired) or when a
w h e e l w i t h o u t a s e n s o r i s fi t t e d .
All repairs and changing of tyres on a
w h e e l fi t t e d w i t h t h i s s y s t e m m u s t b e
carried out by a CITROËN dealer.
T h e t y r e u n d e r - i n fl a t i o n d e t e c t i o n
system is a driving aid which does
not take the place of vigilance or the
responsibility of the driver.
This system does not remove the need
to have the tyre pressure checked
regularly (including the spare wheel), to
ensure that the dynamic performance
of the vehicle remains at its best and
to avoid premature wear of the tyres,
in particular in the case of arduous
driving (heavy load, high speed).
The system may temporarily be
disturbed by radio broadcasts on a
frequency close to it.
TYRE UNDER-INFLATION
DETECTION
EMISSION CONTROL Flat tyre
Check the tyre pressure as soon as
possible.
Refer to the "Changing a wheel"
section of chapter 7.
If the damaged tyre is temporarily
stored inside the vehicle, it will again
emit this message to remind you of the
necessity of having it repaired. This will
prevent another warning of the same
type being displayed.
Sensors check the tyre pressure during
driving (speed higher than 12 mph
[20 km/h]) and trigger a warning in the
event of a malfunction or puncture. Any anomaly detected
( fl a t o r p u n c t u r e d t y r e ,
malfunction of a sensor)
is indicated by visual
and audible information
and is accompanied
by a message on the
display.
EOBD (European On Board
Diagnosis) is a diagnostics
system which complies with,
among others, the standards
concerning authorised
emissions of:
- C O ( c a r b o n m o n o x i d e ) ,
- HC (unburnt hydrocarbons),
- N O x ( n i t r o g e n o x i d e s ) o r p a r t i c l e s , d e t e c t e d b y o x y g e n s e n s o r s p l a c e d
upstream and downstream of the
catalytic converters.
Therefore, the driver is warned of any
malfunction of this emission control
s y s t e m b y t h e l i g h t i n g o f t h i s s p e c i fi c
warning lamp on the instrument panel.
There is a risk of damage to the
catalytic converter. Have it checked by
a CITROËN dealer.

GEARBOX
5-speed - reverse gear gearbox
To change gear easily, always press
the clutch pedal fully.
To prevent the mat from becoming
caught under the pedal:
- e n s u r e t h a t t h e m a t a n d i t s fi x i n g s o n t h e fl o o r a r e p o s i t i o n e d c o r r e c t l y ,
- n e v e r fi t o n e m a t o n t o p o f a n o t h e r .
When driving, avoid leaving your hand
o n t h e g e a r k n o b a s t h e f o r c e e x e r t e d ,
even if slight, may wear the internal
c o m p o n e n t s o f t h e g e a r b o x o v e r t i m e . To engage reverse gear, wait until the
vehicle is stationary then push the gear
lever to the right then down.
The lever should be moved slowly to
reduce the noise on engaging reverse
gear. In order to drive as fuel
e f fi c i e n t l y a s p o s s i b l e w i t h a
m a n u a l g e a r b o x , t h i s i n d i c a t o r
lamp indicates to the driver to
change up.
The driver remains responsible for
deciding whether or not to follow this
indication, since the indicator lamp
comes on without taking into account
t h e c o n fi g u r a t i o n o f t h e r o a d , t h e
a m o u n t o f t r a f fi c a n d s a f e t y f a c t o r s .
The lighting of this indicator lamp
cannot be deactivated.
When reverse gear is engaged
and when changing down whilst
decelerating, the function is disabled.

- automatic mode: gear lever in position A .
- manual mode: gear lever in position M .
For safety:
It is only possible to come out
of position N if the brake pedal is
pressed.
The change from position A (driving in
automatic mode) to position M (driving
in manual mode) or vice versa can be
made at any time. The warning lamp A
goes off in the instrument panel. Moving off
- To start the engine, the gear lever
must be in position N .
- P r e s s fi r m l y o n t h e b r a k e p e d a l .
- Operate the starter.
- When the engine is running, place the selector lever on R , A or M as
desired.
- Release the brake pedal and accelerate.
If the gear lever is not in position N ,
and/or if the brake pedal is not
pressed, the engine will not start.
Repeat the above procedure.
Mode selection Reverse gear
Engaging reverse gear
Move the gear lever to R .
Only attempt to select reverse gear
when the vehicle is stationary.
Neutral
Changing to neutral
Move the gear lever to N . If the vehicle
is moving, do not select this position
even momentarily.

Changing gear In situations of high engine speeds
(heavy acceleration), a change
up will not occur unless the driver
o p e r a t e s e l e c t r o n i c g e a r b o x s y s t e m
lever.
Manual mode
Changing to manual mode
Move the gear lever to M .
Automatic mode
Changing to automatic
mode
Move the gear lever to A .
T h e g e a r b o x t h e n f u n c t i o n s i n
automatic mode, without any action on
your part.
It constantly selects the gear that is
best suited to the following conditions:
- driving style,
- r o a d p r o fi l e ,
- optimum fuel consumption. Pull on the "
+ " control
paddle to change up.
Pull on the " - " control
paddle to change down.
- If the vehicle stops or reduces s p e e d ( f o r e x a m p l e w h e n
approaching a stop sign),
t h e g e a r b o x c h a n g e s d o w n
a u t o m a t i c a l l y , t o fi r s t g e a r i f
needed.
- It is not necessary to release the accelerator completely during gear
changes.
- A request to change gear is accepted only if the engine speed
permits it.
- For safety reasons, depending on the engine speed, a change down
may be performed automatically.

When the vehicle is stationary, unlock
the steering wheel by pulling the lever.
Adjust the height and depth of the
steering wheel, then lock by pushing
the lever fully.
Acceleration
For optimum acceleration (e.g. to
overtake another vehicle), simply
press the pedal beyond the point of
resistance at the end of its travel, by
p r e s s i n g d o w n fi r m l y .
Vehicle stationary, with the
engine running
In the event of a prolonged stop with

changes automatically to neutral

Stopping the vehicle
Before stopping the engine, put the
gear lever in position N .
In all cases, it is essential to apply
the parking brake. Check that the
parking brake warning lamp is on in the
instrument panel.
Before doing anything in the
engine compartment, check that
the gear lever is in neutral N .
