Activation
T h e a n t i - l o c k b r a k i n g s y s t e m c o m e s
i n t o o p e r a t i o n a u t o m a t i c a l l y w h e n t h e r e
is a risk of wheel lock.
N o r m a l o p e r a t i o n o f t h e A B S m a y m a k e
itself felt by slight vibration of the brake
pedal.

a c c o m p a n i e d b y a n a u d i b l e
s i g n a l a n d a m e s s a g e o n t h e
m u l t i f u n c t i o n s c r e e n , i t i n d i c a t e s
a m a l f u n c t i o n o f t h e a n t i - l o c k b r a k i n g
s y s t e m w h i c h c o u l d r e s u l t i n l o s s o f
control of the vehicle when braking.
I f t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p c o m e s o n ,
together with the STOP and
ABS w a r n i n g l a m p s , a c c o m p a -
n i e d b y a n a u d i b l e s i g n a l a n d a
m e s s a g e o n t h e m u l t i f u n c t i o n s c r e e n , i t
i n d i c a t e s a m a l f u n c t i o n o f t h e e l e c t r o n -
i c b r a k e f o r c e d i s t r i b u t i o n w h i c h c o u l d
r e s u l t i n l o s s o f c o n t r o l o f t h e v e h i c l e
when braking.
You
must
stop as soon as it is safe
to do so.

a n d r i m s ) , e n s u r e t h a t t h e y
c o n f o r m t o t h e m a n u f a c t u r e r ' s
r e c o m m e n d a t i o n s . Emergency braking assistance
S y s t e m w h i c h , i n a n e m e r g e n c y , e n -
a b l e s y o u t o o b t a i n t h e o p t i m u m b r a k i n g
p r e s s u r e m o r e q u i c k l y , t h u s r e d u c i n g t h e
stopping distance.
Activation
It is triggered by the speed at which the
brake pedal is pressed.
T h e e f f e c t o f t h i s i s a r e d u c t i o n i n t h e
resistance of the pedal and an increase
i n b r a k i n g e f fi c i e n c y .

Manual operation
Select position M for sequential
changing of the four gears.
Push the lever towards the + sign to
change up a gear.
Pull the lever towards the - sign to
change down a gear.
It is only possible to change from one
gear to another if the vehicle speed
and engine speed permit; otherwise,
t h e g e a r b o x w i l l o p e r a t e t e m p o r a r i l y i n
automatic mode.
D disappears and the gears
engaged appear in succes-
sion on the instrument panel.
In the event of the engine la-
bouring or over-revving, the
g e a r s e l e c t e d fl a s h e s f o r a f e w s e c o n d s ,
then the actual gear engaged is dis-
played.
It is possible to change from position D
(automatic) to position M (manual) at
any time.
When the vehicle is stationary or mo-
v i n g v e r y s l o w l y , t h e g e a r b o x s e l e c t s
gear M1 automatically.
The sport and snow programmes do not
operate in manual mode. Invalid value during manual
operation
This symbol is displayed if a gear
is not engaged correctly (selec-
tor between two positions).
Stopping the vehicle
Before switching off the engine, you
can engage position P or N to place the
g e a r b o x i n n e u t r a l .
In both cases, apply the parking brake
to immobilise the vehicle.
If the lever is not in position P ,
when the driver's door is opened
o r a p p r o x i m a t e l y 4 5 s e c o n d s
after the ignition is switched off,
a message appears in the multi-
function screen.
Return the lever to position P ;
the message disappears. There is a risk of damage to the
g e a r b o x :
- if you press the accelera-
tor and brake pedals at the
same time,
- if you force the movement of the gear lever from the
P position to another position
w h e n t h e b a t t e r y i s fl a t .
To reduce fuel consumption
when at a prolonged standstill
w i t h t h e e n g i n e r u n n i n g ( t r a f fi c
jam...), put the gear lever in the
N position and apply the parking
brake.
Operating fault
When the ignition is on,
the lighting of this war-
ning lamp, accompanied
by an audible signal and
a message on the multifunction screen,
i n d i c a t e s a g e a r b o x m a l f u n c t i o n .
I n t h i s c a s e , t h e g e a r b o x s w i t c h e s t o
back-up mode and is locked in 3rd gear.
You may feel a substantial knock when
changing from P to R and from N to R .
This will not cause any damage to the
g e a r b o x .
D o n o t e x c e e d 6 0 m p h ( 1 0 0 k m / h ) , l o c a l
speed restrictions permitting.

possible.

REAR PARKING SENSORS
S y s t e m c o n s i s t i n g o f f o u r p r o x i m i t y s e n -
sors, located in the rear bumper. Activation
This detects any obstacle (person, vehi-
cle, tree, gate, etc.) behind the vehicle,
e x c e p t o b s t a c l e s l o c a t e d j u s t b e l o w t h e
bumper. An object, such as a stake, a
roadworks cone or any other
similar object may be detected
at the beginning of the manoeu-
vre, but may no longer be de-
tected when the vehicle comes
close to it. The parking sensor system can-
not, in any circumstances, take
the place of the vigilance and
responsibility of the driver.
The system is activated as soon as re-
verse gear is engaged, accompanied
by an audible signal.
On completion of the manoeuvre,
w h e n y o u e x i t r e v e r s e g e a r , t h e s y s t e m
becomes inactive.
T h e p r o x i m i t y i n f o r m a t i o n i s g i v e n b y :
- an audible signal, which becomes
more rapid as the vehicle approaches
the obstacle.
- a graphic on the multifunction screen, with blocks which become
increasingly closer to the vehicle.
When the distance between the rear of
the vehicle and the obstacle is less than
thirty centimetres, the audible signal
becomes continuous and the "Danger"
symbol appears on the multifunction
screen.
