INSTRUMENTS and CONTROLS
When the engine is running or the vehi-
cle is moving, the lighting of one of the
following warning lights indicates the
occurrence of a fault requiring interven-
tion on the part of the driver.
Central alert.
Lighting is associated with
the displaying of another
warning light:
- braking,
- power steering,
- engine oil pressure,
- coolant temperature,
stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to
do so. Service.
If this comes on, it indicates
the occurrence of a problem
in one of the systems which
d o e s n o t h a v e a s p e c i fi c
warning light.
In order to identify it, consult the mes-
sage on the multifunction display.
Check:
- the engine oil level,
- t h e s c r e e n w a s h fl u i d l e v e l ,
- the remote control battery,
- the condition of the bulbs.
For any other situations, contact a
CITROËN dealer.
The illumination of this warning light
may also indicate that the (Diesel) par-
t i c l e fi l t e r i s s t a r t i n g t o g e t c l o g g e d u p ,
d u e t o s p e c i fi c e x t e n d e d u r b a n d r i v i n g
conditions: low speed, congestion, etc.
I n o r d e r t o r e g e n e r a t e t h e fi l t e r , y o u a r e
a d v i s e d t o d r i v e , o n c e t r a f fi c c o n d i t i o n s
allow, at a speed of 40 mph (60 km/h)
or above for at least 5 minutes (until the
warning light goes out). Braking.
If this comes on, it indicates the
occurrence of a fault in one of
the braking systems:
- s i g n i fi c a n t d r o p i n t h e l e v e l i n t h e c i r - cuit,
- electronic brake force distribution (EBFD) faulty (simultaneous lighting
of the ABS warning light),
stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to
do so.
When the vehicle is moving, check that
the handbrake is fully released.
Any fault resulting in the displaying
of a warning light must be the sub-
ject of further diagnostics by read-
ing the associated message on the
multifunction display.
Should you encounter any prob-
lems, do not hesitate to contact a
CITROËN dealer.
Warning lights
Anti-lock braking system
(ABS).
If this comes on, it indicates the
occurrence of a fault in the anti-
lock braking system.
However, this does not prevent opera-
tion of the vehicle's assisted braking.
Dynamic stability control
(ESP/ASR).
The ESP/ASR system is put
into service automatically when
the vehicle is started.
Unless the system has been deactivated,
if this warning light and the indicator light
on the button come on continuously, this
indicates the occurrence of a fault in the
ESP/ASR system.
If the warning light remains on,
contact your CITROËN dealer.

The level read will only be correct if
the vehicle is on level ground and
the engine has been off for more
than 15 minutes.
Engine oil level indicator
System which informs the driver of the
validity or invalidity of the engine oil
level.
This information is indicated for a few
seconds when the ignition is switched
on, after the service information.

Dipstick
T h i s i s i n d i c a t e d b y t h e fl a s h i n g o f
"OIL" , linked with the service warning
light, accompanied by an audible signal
and a message on the multifunction dis-
play.
I f t h e l a c k o f o i l i s c o n fi r m e d b y a c h e c k
using the dipstick, it is essential that the
level is topped up to prevent damage to
the engine.
T h i s i s i n d i c a t e d b y t h e fl a s h i n g o f "OIL --" .
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
Refer to the "Checks" section to locate
t h e d i p s t i c k a n d t h e o i l fi l l e r c a p o n y o u r
engine.
There are 2 marks on the
dipstick:
- A = max; never exceed
this level,
- B = min; top up the level
v i a t h e o i l fi l l e r c a p , u s -
ing the type of oil suited
to your engine.

1. Front and/or rear seat belts not
fastened/unfastened warning light.
2. Front left seat belt warning light.
3. Front right seat belt warning light.
4. Rear right seat belt warning light.
5. Rear centre seat belt warning light.
6. Rear left seat belt warning light.
Seat belt not fastened/unfastened
warning lights display
Rear seat belts
T h e r e a r s e a t s a r e e a c h fi t t e d w i t h a
three-point inertia reel seat belt with
force limiter (with the exception of the
rear centre seat).
Locking
When the rear side side belts are not being
used, you can lock them in place. To do so:
Raise the bracket A to its maximum
height.
Fastening
Pull the strap, then insert the tongue
in the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
correctly by pulling the strap.
Seat belt unfastened warning lights
display
When the ignition is switched on, the cor-
responding warning lights 4 , 5 and 6 come
o n i n r e d f o r a p p r o x i m a t e l y 3 0 s e c o n d s , i f
the seat belt is not fastened.
When the engine is running or the vehicle
is moving, the corresponding warning light
4 , 5 or 6 comes on in red, accompanied by
an audible signal and a message on the
multifunction display, if a rear passenger
has unfastened his seat belt.
Unfastening
Press the red button on the buckle.
Guide the seat belt as it rolls up.
The corresponding warning light 2 or 3
comes on in red on the seat belt and
passenger’s front air bag warning lights
display if the seat belt is not fastened or
is unfastened. Seat belt unfastened warning light
This warning light comes on, either
on the instrument panel or on the
seat belt and passenger’s front air
bag warning lights display, when one
or more rear passengers unfasten
their seat belt.
From approximately 12 mph (20 km/h), this
w a r n i n g l i g h t fl a s h e s f o r t w o m i n u t e s a c c o m -
panied by an audible signal of increasing
volume. Once these two minutes have elapsed,
this warning light remains on until the one or
more rear passengers fasten their seat belt.

engine with particle emission
filter)
A low additive level is indicated by light-
ing of the service warning lamp, accom-
panied by an audible warning and a
message on the multifunction screen.
Used products
B a t t e r y
The battery does not require
any maintenance.
However, check that the ter-
minals are clean and correctly
tightened, particularly in sum-
mer and winter.
When carrying out work on the battery,
r e f e r t o t h e " P r a c t i c a l i n f o r m a t i o n " s e c -
tion for details of the precautions to be
taken before disconnecting the battery
and following its reconnection.
Air filter and passenger compartment filter
Refer to the Maintenance and
Warranty Guide for details of
the replacement intervals for
these components.
Depending on the environment (e.g.
dusty atmosphere) and the use of the
vehicle (e.g. city driving), replace them
t w i c e a s o f t e n i f n e c e s s a r y (refer to
the "Engines" paragraph).
A c l o g g e d c a b i n fi l t e r m a y h a v e a n a d -
verse effect on the performance of the
air conditioning system and generate
undesirable odours. Particle emission filter (Diesel)
It is imperative that the maintenance of
t h e p a r t i c l e e m i s s i o n fi l t e r i s c a r r i e d o u t
by a CITROËN dealer.

the replacement interval for
this component.
Following prolonged operation of
the vehicle at very low speed or at
idle, you may, in exceptional cir-
cumstances, notice the emission
of water vapour at the exhaust on
acceleration. This does not affect
the behaviour of the vehicle or the
environment.
Topping up
This additive must be topped up by a
CITROËN dealer without delay.
Unless otherwise indicated, check
these components in accordance with
the Maintenance and Warranty Guide
and according to your engine.
Otherwise, have them checked by a
CITROËN dealer.

TOWING A TRAILER, A CARAVAN, ETC.
Your vehicle is primarily designed for
transporting people and luggage, but it
m a y a l s o b e u s e d f o r t o w i n g a t r a i l e r . Driving advice
The maximum towing load on a long
slope depends on the gradient and the
a m b i e n t t e m p e r a t u r e .
In all cases, pay attention to the coolant
t e m p e r a t u r e .
Side wind
Take into account the increased
s e n s i t i v i t y t o s i d e w i n d .
Cooling
Towing a trailer on a slope increases
t h e t e m p e r a t u r e o f t h e c o o l a n t .
As the fan is electrically controlled, its
cooling capacity is not dependent on
t h e e n g i n e s p e e d .
To lower the engine speed, reduce
y o u r s p e e d . Braking
Towing a trailer increases the braking
d i s t a n c e .
Tyres
Check the tyre pressures of the tow-
ing vehicle and of the trailer, observ-
i n g t h e r e c o m m e n d e d p r e s s u r e s .
Lighting
Check the electrical signalling on
t h e t r a i l e r .
The rear parking assistance will
be deactivated automatically if an
o r i g i n a l C I T R O Ë N t o w b a r i s u s e d .
If the warning lamp and
the STOP warning lamp
come on, stop the vehicle
and switch off the engine
a s s o o n a s p o s s i b l e .
Towbar suited to the attachment of a
trailer or caravan with additional signal-
l i n g a n d l i g h t i n g .
Distribution of loads
D i s t r i b u t e t h e l o a d i n t h e t r a i l e r s o
that the heaviest items are as close
as possible to the axle and the nose
weight approaches the maximum
p e r m i t t e d w i t h o u t e x c e e d i n g i t .
Air density decreases with altitude, thus
r e d u c i n g e n g i n e p e r f o r m a n c e . A b o v e
1 000 metres, the maximum towing load
must be reduced by 10 % and so on for
e v e r y 1 0 0 0 m e t r e s o f a l t i t u d e .
