Seat belt not fastened/unfastened
warning lights display
Rear seat belts
T h e r e a r s e a t s a r e e a c h fi t t e d w i t h a
three-point inertia reel seat belt with
force limiter (with the exception of the
rear centre seat).
Locking
When the rear side side belts are not being
used, you can lock them in place. To do so:
Raise the bracket A to its maximum
height.
Fastening
Pull the strap, then insert the tongue
in the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
correctly by pulling the strap.
Seat belt unfastened warning lights
display
When the ignition is switched on, the cor-
responding warning lights 4 , 5 and 6 come
o n i n r e d f o r a p p r o x i m a t e l y 3 0 s e c o n d s , i f
the seat belt is not fastened.
When the engine is running or the vehicle
is moving, the corresponding warning light
4 , 5 or 6 comes on in red, accompanied by
an audible signal and a message on the
multifunction display, if a rear passenger
has unfastened his seat belt.
Unfastening
Press the red button on the buckle.
Guide the seat belt as it rolls up.
The corresponding warning light 2 or 3
comes on in red on the seat belt and
passenger’s front air bag warning lights
display if the seat belt is not fastened or
is unfastened. Seat belt unfastened warning light
This warning light comes on, either
on the instrument panel or on the
seat belt and passenger’s front air
bag warning lights display, when one
or more rear passengers unfasten
their seat belt.
From approximately 12 mph (20 km/h), this
w a r n i n g l i g h t fl a s h e s f o r t w o m i n u t e s a c c o m -
panied by an audible signal of increasing
volume. Once these two minutes have elapsed,
this warning light remains on until the one or
more rear passengers fasten their seat belt.

DRIVING
Deactivation
The system will be deactivated au-
tomatically when towing a trailer
o r w h e n a b i c y c l e c a r r i e r i s fi t t e d
( v e h i c l e fi t t e d w i t h a t o w b a r o r b i -
cycle carrier recommended by
CITROËN). Reactivation
Press button
A again to reactivate the
system. The indicator light on the button
is switched off.
If there is an operating fault, when re-
verse gear is engaged, the service
warning light comes on, accompanied
by an audible signal (short bleep) and
a message on the multifunction display.
With the engine running, press button A
to deactivate the system permanently.
The indicator light on the button comes
on. In bad or wintry weather, ensure
that the sensors are not covered
with mud, frost or snow.

BONNET
P u s h t h e e x t e r i o r c o n t r o l B to the left
and raise the bonnet.
Unclip the strut C from its housing.
Fix the strut in the notch to hold the
bonnet open.
Closing
Take the strut out of the support
notch.
Clip the strut in its housing.
Lower the bonnet and release it at
the end of its travel.
P u l l o n t h e b o n n e t t o c h e c k t h a t i t i s
secured correctly.
Opening
Open the front left door.
P u l l t h e i n t e r i o r c o n t r o l A , located at
the bottom of the door frame. The location of the interior control
prevents opening of the bonnet
while the front left door is closed.
P r o t e c t s t h e c o m p o n e n t s o f t h e e n g i n e
and provides access for checking levels.
RUNNING OUT OF FUEL (DIESEL)
I f y o u r v e h i c l e i s fi t t e d w i t h a n H D I e n -
gine, the fuel circuit must be reprimed if
you run out of fuel.
This system consists of a repriming
pump, a transparent pipe and a degas
screw under the bonnet.
HDi 90 and HDi 110 FAP engines
F i l l t h e f u e l t a n k w i t h a t l e a s t fi v e l i -
tres of diesel.
Open the bonnet.
Unclip the cover to gain access to
the repriming pump.
Squeeze and release the repriming
pump until fuel appears in the trans-
parent pipe with the green connector.
Operate the starter until the engine
starts.
P u t t h e c o v e r b a c k i n p o s i t i o n a n d
clip it in place.
Close the bonnet.
If the engine does not start at the
fi r s t a t t e m p t , d o n o t t r y a g a i n .
Operate the repriming pump again,
then the starter.

CHECKING LEVELS Brake fluid level
Oil level The reading will only be correct
if the vehicle is on level ground
and the engine has been off for
more than 15 minutes.
The check is carried out either when the
ignition is switched on using the oil level
indicator on the instrument panel, or us-
ing the dipstick.
Between two oil changes, the consump-
tion should not exceed 0.5 litre per
600 miles (1,000 km). T h e b r a k e fl u i d l e v e l s h o u l d b e
close to the "MAX" mark. If it is
not, check the brake pad wear.
Draining the circuit
Refer to the Maintenance and Warranty
Guide for details of the interval for this
operation.
Coolant level The coolant level should be
close to the "MAX" mark but
should never exceed it.
When the engine is warm, the
temperature of the coolant is regulated
by the fan. This can operate with the igni-
tion off.
O n v e h i c l e s w h i c h a r e fi t t e d w i t h a
p a r t i c l e e m i s s i o n fi l t e r , t h e f a n m a y
operate after the vehicle has been
s w i t c h e d o f f , e v e n i f t h e e n g i n e i s
cold.
In addition, as the cooling system is
pressurised, wait at least one hour after
switching off the engine before carrying
out any work. F l u i d s p e c i fi c a t i o n
For optimum cleaning and to avoid
f r e e z i n g , t h i s fl u i d m u s t n o t b e t o p p e d
up or replaced with water.
Draining the engine
Refer to the Maintenance and Warranty
Guide for details of the interval for this
operation.
In order to maintain the reliability of the
engine and emission control system,
the use of additives in the engine oil is
prohibited.
O i l s p e c i fi c a t i o n
The oil must correspond to your engine
and conform to the manufacturer's recom-
mendations. F l u i d s p e c i fi c a t i o n

The coolant must conform to the manu-
facturer's recommendations.
Draining the circuit
The coolant does not have to be
changed.
Screenwash fluid level
Top up the level when neces-
sary.
Check all of these levels regularly and
top them up if necessary, unless other-
wise indicated.
I f a l e v e l d r o p s s i g n i fi c a n t l y , h a v e t h e
corresponding circuit checked by a
CITROËN dealer.
To avoid any risk of scalding, unscrew
the cap by two turns to allow the pres-
sure to drop. When the pressure has
dropped, remove the cap and top up
the level.

minals are clean and correctly
tightened, particularly in sum-
mer and winter.
When carrying out work on the battery,

tion for details of the precautions to be
taken before disconnecting the battery
and following its reconnection.
Air filter and passenger
compartment filter Refer to the Maintenance and
Warranty Guide for details of
the replacement intervals for
these components.
Depending on the environment
(e.g. dusty atmosphere) and the use of
the vehicle (e.g. city driving), replace
t h e m t w i c e a s o f t e n i f n e c e s s a r y (refer

may have an adverse effect on the per-
formance of the air conditioning system

CHECKS Only use products recommended

l e n t q u a l i t y a n d s p e c i fi c a t i o n s .
In order to optimise the operation
of units as important as the braking
system, CITROËN selects and of-
f e r s v e r y s p e c i fi c p r o d u c t s .
To avoid damaging the electrical
units, the use of a high pressure
washer in the engine compartment
is strictly prohibited .
Brake disc wear status
Brake pads Handbrake Brake wear depends on the
style of driving, particularly in
the case of vehicles used in
town, over short distances. It
may be necessary to have the
condition of the brakes checked, even
between vehicle services.
Unless there is a leak in the circuit, a
d r o p i n t h e b r a k e fl u i d l e v e l i n d i c a t e s
that the brake pads are worn. For information relating to
checking the brake disc wear
status, contact a CITROËN
dealer.
If the handbrake travel is too
long or if a loss of effective-
ness of this system is no-
ticed, the handbrake must be
adjusted, even between two
services.
This system must be checked by a
CITROËN dealer.
Manual gearbox
The gearbox does not re-
quire any maintenance (no oil
change).
