Warning lamps
When the engine is running or the vehicle is
being driven, the switching on of one of the fol-
lowing warning lamps indicates a fault which
requires action on the part of the driver. Any fault resulting in the switching on of a warning lamp must be investigated
further by reading the associated message on the multifunction screen.
If you encounter any problems, do not hesitate to contact a CITROËN dealer.
Warning lamp is on Cause Action/Observations
STOP fi x e d , a s s o c i a t e d
with another
warning lamp,
accompanied by
an audible signal and a message on the screen. It is associated with the
braking system, the power
steering, the engine oil pres-
sure or the engine coolant
temperature.
Stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
Park, switch off the ignition and call a CITROËN
dealer.
Service temporarily,
accompanied
by an audible signal and a
message on the multifunction screen. A minor fault has occurred
f o r w h i c h t h e r e i s n o s p e c i fi c
warning lamp. Identify the fault by reading the message shown
on the screen, such as, for example:
- engine oil level,
- screenwash level,
- remote control battery,
- state of the bulbs,
- s a t u r a t i o n o f t h e p a r t i c l e e m i s s i o n fi l t e r ( D i e
s e l ) .
For any other faults, contact a CITROËN dealer.

stability control

The ESP/ASR regulation is
active. The system optimises traction and improves the
directional stability of the vehicle.

Engine

The emission control system
has a fault. This lamp should switch off when the engine is
started.

system has a fault. Risk of destruction of the catalytic convertor.
Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer.
Low fuel level fi x e d . W h e n i t fi r s t c o m e s o n t h e r e
remains
approximately
5 litres of fuel in the tank. You must refuel as soon as possible to avoid
running out of fuel.
This warning lamp will come on every time the
i g n i t i o n i s s w i t c h e d o n , u n t i l a s u f fi c i e n t a d d i t i o n
of fuel is made.
Fuel tank capacity: approximately 50 litres (petrol)
or 48 litres (Diesel).
Never continue to drive until you run out of fuel
as this could damage the emission control and
injection systems.

The level read will only be correct if
the vehicle is on level ground and
the engine has been off for more
than 15 minutes.
Engine oil level indicator
System which informs the driver whether
the engine oil level is correct or not.
This information is indicated for a few
seconds when the ignition is switched
on, after the service information.

Dipstick
T h i s i s i n d i c a t e d b y t h e fl a s h i n g o f
"OIL" , linked with the service warning
lamp, accompanied by an audible sig-
nal and a message on the multifunction
screen.
I f t h e l a c k o f o i l i s c o n fi r m e d b y a c h e c k
using the dipstick, it is essential that the
level is topped up to prevent damage to
the engine. T h i s i s i n d i c a t e d b y t h e fl a s h i n g o f
"OIL--" . Consult a CITROËN dealer.
Refer to the "Checks" section to locate
t h e d i p s t i c k a n d t h e o i l fi l l e r c a p o n y o u r
engine. There are 2 marks on the
dipstick:
- A = max; never exceed
this level (risk of damage
to the engine),
- B = min; top up the level
v i a t h e o i l fi l l e r c a p , u s i n g
the grade of oil suited to
your engine.

COMFORT
The air conditioning system does
not contain chlorine and does not
present any danger to the ozone
layer.
In order for these systems to be fully effective, follow the g uidelines on opera-
tion and maintenance below:
If the interior temperature remains very high after the vehicle has been
p a r k e d i n t h e s u n f o r a c o n s i d e r a b l e t i m e , fi r s t v e n t i l a t e t h e p a s s e n g e r
compartment for a few minutes.
P l a c e t h e a i r fl o w c o n t r o l a t a s u f fi c i e n t l e v e l t o p r o v i d e a n a d e q u a t e r e n e w a l
of air in the passenger compartment.
To obtain an even air distribution, take care not to obst ruct the exterior air
intake grilles located at the base of the windscreen, the n ozzles, the vents
and the air outlets, as well as the air extractor located in the passenger
compartment on both sides of the rear shelf.
Do not cover the sunshine sensor, located on the dashboard (behind the
instrument panel); this is used for regulation of t he air conditioning system.
Operate the air conditioning system for 5 to 10 minutes, on ce or twice a
month to keep it in good working order.
E n s u r e t h a t t h e p a s s e n g e r c o m p a r t m e n t fi l t e r i s i n g o o d c o n d i t i o n a n d
h a v e t h e fi l t e r e l e m e n t s r e p l a c e d r e g u l a r l y ( r e f e r t o t h e " C h e c k s " s e c t i o n ) .
W e r e c o m m e n d t h e u s e o f a c o m b i n e d p a s s e n g e r c o m p a r t m e n t fi l t e r .
T h a n k s t o i t s s e c o n d s p e c i a l a c t i v e fi l t e r , i t c o n t r i b u t e s t o t h e p u r i fi c a t i o n
of the air breathed by the occupants and the cleanliness of the passen-
ger compartment (reduction of allergic symptoms, bad odours and grea sy
deposits).
To ensure correct operation of the air conditioning system, you are also
advised to have it checked regularly.
If the system does not produce cold air, do not use it and contact a
CITROËN dealer.
When towing the maximum load on a steep gradient in high temperatures,
switching off the air conditioning saves engine power and so improves towing
capacity.
The condensation created by the air conditioning results in a discharge of
water under the vehicle which is perfectly normal.

ACCESS
Additions of fuel must be of at least
5 litres, in order to be taken into
account by the fuel gauge.
The key cannot be removed from
t h e l o c k u n t i l t h e c a p i s r e fi t t e d .
O p e n i n g t h e fi l l e r c a p m a y c r e a t e a
noise a caused by an inrush of air.
This vacuum is entirely normal, re-
sulting from the sealing of the fuel
system.
FUEL TANK
Fuel tank capacity: approximately
50 litres (petrol) or 48 litres (Diesel).
Low fuel level Filling
A l a b e l a f fi x e d t o t h e i n s i d e o f t h e fl a p
reminds you of the type of fuel to be
used depending on your engine.
When the fuel tank minimum
level is reached this warning
lamp comes on on the instru-
m e n t p a n e l . W h e n i t fi r s t c o m e s
on there remains approximately
5 litres of fuel in the tank.
You must refuel as soon as possible to
avoid running out of fuel.
If you run out of fuel (Diesel), refer also
to the "Checks" section. T o fi l l t h e t a n k i n c o m p l e t e s a f e t y :
the engine must be switched off,
o p e n t h e f u e l fi l l e r fl a p ,
insert the key in the cap, then turn it
to the left,
remove the cap and hook it onto
the clip located on the inside of the
fl a p ,
fi l l t h e t a n k , but do not continue
after the 3rd cut-off of the pump ;
this could cause malfunctions.
W h e n y o u h a v e fi l l e d t h e t a n k :
put the cap back in place,
turn the key to the right, then remove
it from the cap,
c l o s e t h e fl a p .

The ESP/ASR systems offer excep-
tional safety in normal driving, but
this should not encourage the driver
to take extra risks or drive at high
speed.
The correct functioning of these
systems depends on observation
of the manufacturer's recommen-
dations regarding the wheels (tyres
and rims), the braking components,
the electronic components and the
CITROËN assembly and operation
procedures.
After an impact, have these systems
checked by a CITROËN dealer.
Deactivation
In exceptional conditions (starting a vehi-
cle which is bogged down, stuck in snow,
on soft ground...), it may be advisable to
deactivate the ASR and ESP systems,
so that the wheels can move freely and
regain grip.
Press the "ESP OFF" button, locat-
ed in the centre of the dashboard.
If this warning lamp comes on in
the instrument panel and the in-
dicator lamp on the button comes
on, this indicates that the ASR and
ESP systems are deactivated.
Reactivation
These systems are reactivated automat-
ically each time the ignition is switched
b a c k o n o r f r o m 3 0 m p h ( 5 0 k m / h ) .
Press the "ESP OFF" button again
to reactivate them manually. Operating fault
If this warning lamp comes on,
accompanied by an audible sig-
nal and a message on the multi-
function screen, this indicates a
malfunction of these systems.
Have the systems checked by a
CITROËN dealer.
TRAJECTORY CONTROL SYSTEMS
The anti-skid regulation (also known as
Traction Control) optimises traction to
prevent skidding of the wheels, by act-
ing on the brakes of the driving wheels
and on the engine.
The electronic stability programme acts
on the brake of one or more wheels and
on the engine to keep the vehicle on the
trajectory required by the driver, within
the limits of the laws of physics.
Anti-skid regulation (ASR) and electronic stability programme (ESP)

this warning lamp on the instru-
ment panel.
Activation
These systems are activated automati-
cally each time the vehicle is started.
They come into operation in the event
of a grip or trajectory problem.

1. Front and/or rear seat belts not fas-
tened/unfastened warning lamp.

3. Front right seat belt warning lamp.
4. Rear right seat belt warning lamp.
5. Rear centre seat belt warning lamp.

Rear seat belts
T h e r e a r s e a t s a r e e a c h fi t t e d w i t h a
three-point inertia reel seat belt with
force limiter (with the exception of the
rear centre seat).
Locking
When the rear side side belts are not
being used, you can lock them in place.
To do so:
Raise the grip A to its maximum
height.
Fastening
Pull the strap, then insert the tongue
in the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
correctly by pulling the strap.
Seat belt unfastened warning lamp
display
When the ignition is switched on, the corre-
sponding warning lamps 4 , 5 and 6 come
o n i n r e d f o r a p p r o x i m a t e l y 3 0 s e c o n d s , i f
the seat belt is not fastened.
When the engine is running or the vehicle
is moving, the corresponding warning
lamp 4 , 5 or 6 comes on in red, accompa-
nied by an audible signal and a message
on the multifunction screen, if a rear pas-
senger has unfastened their seat belt.
Unfastening
Press the red button on the buckle.
Guide the seat belt as it rolls up.
The corresponding warning lamp 2 or 3
comes on in red on the seat belt and
passenger's front airbag warning lamp
display if the seat belt is not fastened or
is unfastened. Seat belt unfastened warning lamp This warning lamp comes on, either
on the instrument panel or on the
seat belt and passenger's front airbag
warning lamp display, when one or
more rear passengers unfasten their seat belt.
From approximately 12 mph (20 km/h),
t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s f o r t w o m i n u t e s
accompanied by an audible signal of in-
creasing volume. Once these two minutes
have elapsed, this warning lamp remains
on until the one or more rear passengers
fasten their seat belt.

CHECKS
BONNET
Push the exterior safety catch B to
the left and raise the bonnet.
Unclip the stay C from its housing.
Fix the stay in the notch to hold the
bonnet open.
Closing
Take the stay out of the support
notch.
Clip the stay in its housing.
Lower the bonnet and release it at
the end of its travel.
Pull on the bonnet to check that it is
secured correctly.
Open the front left door.
Pull the interior bonnet release lever A ,
located at the bottom of the door
frame. The location of the interior bonnet
release lever prevents opening of
the bonnet while the front left door
is closed.
When the engine is hot, handle the
exterior safety catch and the bon-
net stay with care (risk of burns).
Opening
RUNNING OUT OF FUEL (DIESEL)
I f y o u r v e h i c l e i s fi t t e d w i t h a n H D I e n -
gine, the fuel system must be primed if
you run out of fuel.
This system consists of a priming pump,
a transparent pipe and a bleed screw
under the bonnet.
HDi 90 and HDi 110 FAP engines
F i l l t h e f u e l t a n k w i t h a t l e a s t fi v e l i t r e s
of Diesel.
Open the bonnet.
Depending on version, unclip the
cover to gain access to the priming
pump.
Squeeze and release the prim-
ing pump until fuel appears in the
transparent pipe with the green
connector.
Operate the starter until the engine
starts.
Depending on version, put the cover
back in position and clip it in place.
Close the bonnet.
If the engine does not start at the
fi r s t a t t e m p t , d o n o t t r y a g a i n .
Operate the priming pump again,
then the starter.
