Limit the causes of excess consumption
Spread loads throughout the vehicle; place the heaviest items in the bottom  of  the  boot,  as  close  as  possible  to  the  rear  seats.
Limit
the  loads  carried  in  the  vehicle  and  reduce  wind  resistance  (roof Â
b
ars,  roof  rack,  bicycle  carrier,  trailer...).  Use  a  roof  box  in  preference.
Remove
roof  bars  and  roof  racks  after  use.
At
the  end  of  winter,  remove  snow  tyres  and  refit  your  summer  tyres.
Observe the recommendations on
maintenance
Check the tyre pressures regularly, when cold, referring to the label in the  door  aperture,  driver's  side.
Carry
 out  this  check  in  particular:
-
Â
b
efore  a  long  journey,
-
Â
a
t  each  change  of  season,
-
Â
a
fter  a  long  period  out  of  use.
Don't
forget  the  spare  wheel  and  the  tyres  on  any  trailer  or  caravan.
Have
your  vehicle  serviced  regularly  (engine  oil,  oil  filter,  air  filter, Â
p
assenger  compartment  filter...)  and  observe  the  schedule  of Â
o
perations  in  the  personalised  servicing  schedule  for  your  vehicle.
With
a  BlueHDi  Diesel  engine,  if  the  SCR  system  develops  a  fault, Â
y
our  vehicle  becomes  polluting;  go  to  a  CITROËN  dealer  or  a  qualified Â
w
orkshop  without  delay  to  have  the  emissions  of  nitrous  oxides  brought Â
w
ithin  the  limits  set  by  the  directive.
When
refuelling,  do  not  continue  after  the  third  cut-off  of  the  nozzle  to Â
a
void  any  over flow.
At
the  wheel  of  your  new  vehicle,  it  is  only  after  the  first  1  800  miles Â
(3
000  kilometres)  that  you  will  see  the  fuel  consumption  settle  down  to Â
a
 consistent  average.

Service indicator
System which informs the driver when the next  service  is  due,  in  accordance  with  the Â
ma
nufacturer's
 ser

chedule.
More than 1 800 miles (3 000 km)
remain before the next service is due
When the ignition is switched on, no service information  appears  in  the  screen.
Between 600 miles (1 000 km)
and 1 800 miles (3 000 km) remain
before the next service is due
For 5 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the  spanner  symbolising  the  service  operations Â
c
omes  on.  The  distance  recorder  display  line Â
i
ndicates  the  distance  remaining  before  the Â
n
ext  service  is  due.
Example:
Â
1  739  miles  (2  800  km)  remain Â
b
efore  the  next  service  is  due.
For
5  seconds  after  the  ignition  is  switched  on, Â
t
he  screen  indicates:
5
seconds  after  the  ignition  is  switched  on, Â
t
he spanner goes off ;
 the  distance  recorder Â
r
esumes  its  normal  operation.  The  screen  then Â
i
ndicates  the  total  distance.
Indicators
The point at which the next service is due is calculated  from  the  last  indicator  zero  reset, Â
d
epending  on  the  distance  travelled  and  the Â
t
ime  elapsed  since  the  last  service.
For BlueHDi Diesel versions, the
degree
of  deterioration  of  the  engine  oil Â
i
s  also  taken  into  account  (depending Â
o
n  the  country  of  sale).

Service overdue
For 5 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the
s panner flashes to  indicate  that  the  service  must b
e  carried  out  as  soon  as  possible.
Example:
Â
the  service  is  overdue  by  186  miles
 (
300 Â km).
For
5  seconds  after  the  ignition  is  switched  on,  the
 s
creen  indicates:
For BlueHDi Diesel versions, this alert
may
also  be  accompanied  by  the  fixed Â
i
llumination  of  the  service  warning  lamp Â
w
hen  the  ignition  is  on.
5
seconds  after  the  ignition  is  switched  on, Â
t
he  distance  recorder  resumes  its  normal Â
ope
ration.
 T
he spanner remains on. The
 distance  remaining  may  be  w
eighted  by  the  time  factor,  depending  o
n  the  driving  conditions.
Therefore,
the  spanner  may  also  come Â
o
n  if  you  have  exceeded  the  period Â
s
ince the last service, indicated in the
manufacturer's
 ser
vice
 s
chedule.
Less than 600 miles (1 000 km)
remain before the next service is due
Example: 400  miles  (900  km)  remain  before  t
he  next  service  is  due.
For
5  seconds  after  the  ignition  is  switched  on, Â
t
he  screen  indicates:
5
seconds  after  the  ignition  is  switched  on, Â
t
he  distance  recorder  resumes  its  normal Â
ope
ration.
 T
he spanner remains on to
indicate
that  a  service  must  be  carried  out Â
s
oon. For BlueHDi Diesel versions, the
spanner
may  also  be  brought  on  earlier Â
t
han  expected,  depending  on  the Â
d
egree  of  deterioration  of  the  engine  oil Â
(
depending  on  the  country  of  sale).
The
rate  of  deterioration  of  the  engine Â
o
il  depends  on  the  driving  conditions  in Â
w
hich  the  vehicle  is  used.

Engine oil level
indicator*
On versions fitted with an electric oil level
indicator, the  state  of  the  engine  oil  level Â
i
s  displayed  in  the  instrument  panel  for  a Â
f
ew seconds,  after  the  servicing  information.
The level read will only be correct if
the
vehicle  is  on  level  ground  and  the Â
e
ngine  has  been  off  for  more  than Â
3
0Â minutes.
Oil level correct
Oil level incorrect
This is indicated by the display of the message "Oil  level  incorrect"  in  the  instrument  panel Â
s
creen,  accompanied  by  the  service  warning Â
l
amp  and  an  audible  signal.
If
the  low  oil  level  is  confirmed  by  a  check  using Â
t
he  dipstick,  the  level  must  be  topped  up  to Â
a
void  damage  to  the  engine.
Oil level indicator fault
This is signalled by the display of the message "Oil  level  measurement  invalid"  in  the Â
in
strument
 pan
el.
Contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
For more information on checking the  levels,  refer  to  the  corresponding Â
s
ection.
*
Â
Depending
Â
on
Â
version. In the event of a fault with the electric indicator,
the
oil  level  is  no  longer  monitored.
If  the  system  is  faulty,  you  must  check  the Â
e
ngine  oil  level  using  the  manual  dipstick Â
l
ocated  under  the  bonnet.
For  more  information  on  checking  the  levels, Â
