SAFETY
Reactivation
These systems are reactivated au-
tomatically each time the ignition is
switched back on or from 30 mph
(50 km/h).
)
Press the "ESP OFF"
button again
to reactivate them manually.
Operating fault
If this warning lamp comes
on, accompanied by an au-
dible signal and a message
in the multifunction screen,
this indicates a malfunction of these
systems.
Have it checked by a CITROËN
dealer or a qualifi ed workshop. The ESP/ASR systems offer ex-
ceptional safety in normal driving,
but this should not encourage the
driver to take extra risks or drive at
high speed.
The correct operation of these sys-
tems depends on observation of
the manufacturer's recommenda-
tions regarding wheels (tyres and
rims), braking components, elec-
tronic components and assembly
and repair procedures.
After an impact, have these systems
checked by a CITROËN dealer or a
qualifi ed workshop.
EMERGENCY OR
ASSISTANCE CALL
This system allows you to make an
emergency or assistance call to the
emergency services or to the dedi-
cated CITROËN service.
For more information on the use of
this function, refer to the "Audio and
telematics" section.

and front passenger in the event of
a serious side impact in order to limit
the risk of injury to the chest.
Each lateral airbag is fi tted in the
front seat back frame, on the door
side.
Operation
It is deployed unilaterally in the
event of a serious side impact ap-
plied to all or part of the side impact
zone B
, perpendicular to the longi-
tudinal centreline of the vehicle on
a horizontal plane and directed from
the outside towards the inside of the
vehicle.
The lateral airbag infl ates between
the front occupant of the vehicle and
the corresponding door trim panel.

and passengers (with the exception
of the rear centre passenger) in the
event of a serious side impact in or-
der to limit the risk of head injuries.
Each curtain airbag is fi tted in the
pillars and the upper part of the pas-
senger compartment.
Operation
It is deployed at the same time as
the corresponding lateral airbag in
the event of a serious side impact
applied to all or part of the side im-
pact zone B
, perpendicular to the
longitudinal centreline of the vehicle
on a horizontal plane and directed
from the outside towards the inside
of the vehicle.
The curtain airbag infl ates between
the front or rear occupant of the ve-
hicle and the windows.
In the event of a minor impact or
bump on the side of the vehicle or
if the vehicle rolls over, the airbag
may not be deployed.
The airbag is not deployed in the
event of a rear or front collision.

DRIVING
Dynamic emergency braking
In the event of a failure of the vehi-
cle’s main braking system or in an
exceptional situation (e.g. driver tak-
en ill, under instruction, etc) a con-
tinuous pull on the control lever A
will stop the vehicle.
The electronic stability programme
(ESP) provides stability during dy-
namic emergency braking.
If the dynamic emergency braking
malfunctions, one of the following
messages will be displayed in the
multifunction screen:
- "Parking brake faulty".
- "Parking brake control faulty". If a failure of the ESP sys-
tem is signalled by the il-
lumination of this warning
lamp, then braking stability
is not guaranteed. In this event, sta-
bility must be assured by the driver
by repeating alternate "pull-release"
actions on control lever A
.
The dynamic emergency
braking must only be used in
exceptional circumstances.

DRIVING
GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR *
System which reduces fuel con-
sumption by advising the driver to
change up on vehicles fi tted with a
manual gearbox.
Operation
The system intervenes only when
driving economically.
Depending on the driving situation
and your vehicle's equipment, the
system may advise you to skip one
or more gears. You can follow this
instruction without engaging the in-
termediate gears.
The gear recommended should not
be considered compulsory. In fact,
the confi guration of the road, the
amount of traffi c and safety remain
determining factors when choosing
the best gear. Therefore, the driver
remains responsible for deciding
whether or not to follow the advice
given by the system.
This function cannot be deactivated.
* According to engine.
Example:
- You are in third gear.
- You press the accelerator pedal
moderately.
- The system may suggest that
you engage a higher gear, if ap-
propriate.
The information appears in the form
of an arrow in the instrument panel
screen.
Depending on your vehicle's equip-
ment, this arrow may be accompa-
nied by the recommended gear.
In the case of driving which
makes particular demands
on the performance of the
engine (fi rm pressure on
the accelerator pedal, for example,
when overtaking...), the system will
not recommend a gear change.
The system never suggests:
- engaging fi rst gear,
- engaging reverse gear,
- engaging a lower gear.

played in the instrument panel,
on the left on the A and C multi-
function screens and on the right
on NaviDrive and MyWay multi-
function screens.
- A back-lit position grille associ-
ated with the gear lever shows
the position selected.
When the ignition is on, il-
lumination of the service
warning lamp, accompa-
nied by an audible signal and
the message "Gearbox faulty"
indicates a malfunction.
Contact a CITROËN dealer or a
qualifi ed workshop.
For safety:
)
position N
can only be disen-
gaged if you are pressing the
brake pedal.

the position engaged.
)
Release the brake pedal and ac-
celerate.
If the gear lever is not in position N
,
and/or if the brake pedal is not
pressed, the corresponding warning
lamp(s) are displayed and a mes-
sage informs you that at least one of
these two conditions is not met.
In this case, the engine will not start,
recommence the above procedure.
6-SPEED ELECTRONIC GEARBOX SYSTEM
The 6-speed electronic gearbox of-
fers a choice between the comfort of
fully automatic operation or the driving
pleasure of manual gear changing.

SPEED LIMITER
System which prevents the vehi-
cle from exceeding the speed pro-
grammed by the driver.
Once the limit speed has been
reached, the accelerator pedal no
longer has any effect.
The speed limiter is switched on
manually: a speed of at least 20 mph
(approximately 30 km/h) must be pro-
grammed.
The speed limiter controls are locat-
ed on the left-hand side of the steer-
ing wheel. The programmed information is
grouped together in zone A
of the
instrument panel screen.

to the "LIM"
po-
sition.
With the engine running, you can
adjust the memorised maximum
speed , by means of short or long
presses on:
)
button 4
to increase the memo-
rised maximum speed,
)
button 2
to decrease the memo-
rised maximum speed.
Successive presses will modify the
maximum speed in steps of 1 mph
(1 km/h) and a sustained press in
steps of 3 mph (5 km/h).
Activation
When the desired maximum speed
is displayed, press button 3
so that
the limitation is activated.
On selection of the
function, the previous
memorised speed and
the information "OFF"
are displayed in the in-
strument panel. The information "OFF"
then disappears from
the instrument panel
screen.
While the function is active, press-
ing the accelerator pedal will not en-
able the programmed speed to be
exceeded, except if you press the
pedal hard down to beyond the end-
of-travel switch.
The speed of your vehicle may vary
slightly in relation to that memo-
rised.
The speed limiter cannot, in any circum-
stances, take the place of the obser-
vance of speed limits or of the vigilance
and responsibility of the driver.

CRUISE CONTROL
System which automatically main-
tains the vehicle speed programmed
by the driver, without any action on
the accelerator pedal.
The cruise control is switched on
manually: the vehicle speed must
be at least 25 mph (approximately
40 km/h) and you must engage:
- fourth gear on a manual gear-
box,
- second gear, in manual mode,
on an electronic or automatic
gearbox,
- position A
on an electronic gear-
box or D
on an automatic gearbox.

gear lever is in neutral. On selection of the
function via control 1,
no cruise speed has
yet been memorised.
Programming
Rotate the control 1
to the "REG"
position.
Once the desired speed has been
reached using the accelerator, press
button 2
or 4
. The cruise speed is
then memorised. It is displayed in
zone A
of the instrument panel. These actions cause
the information "OFF"
to appear in the instru-
ment panel screen.
These actions do not
cancel the cruise speed
which remains displayed
in the instrument panel.
The cruise control cannot, in any cir-
cumstances, take the place of the
observance of speed limits or of the vig-
ilance and responsibility of the driver.

LANE DEPARTURE
WARNING SYSTEM
System which detects the involun-
tary crossing of longitudinal traffi c
lane markings on the ground (solid
or broken line).
Sensors, fi tted below the front bum-
per, trigger a warning if the vehicle
drifts over a lane marking (speed
higher than 50 mph (80 km/h)).
This system is particularly useful on
motorways and main roads.
Activation
)
Press this button, the indicator
lamp comes on.
Deactivation
)
Press this button again, the indi-
cator lamp goes off.
The status of the system remains
in the memory when the ignition is
switched off.
Detection
You are warned by the vibration of
the driver's seat cushion:
- on the right-hand side, if the
marking on the ground has been
crossed on the right,
- on the left-hand side, if the marking
on the ground has been crossed
on the left.
No warning is transmitted while the
direction indicator is active and for
approximately 20 seconds after the
direction indicator is switched off.
A warning may be transmitted if a
direction marking (e.g. arrow) or
non-standard marking (e.g. graffi ti)
is crossed.
Operating fault
In the event of a malfunction, the
service warning lamp comes on, ac-
companied by an audible signal and
a message in the screen.
Contact a CITROËN dealer or a
qualifi ed workshop.
The lane departure warning sys-
tem cannot, in any circumstances,
replace the need for vigilance and
responsibility on the part of the
driver.
The detection may be impeded:
- if the sensors are dirty (mud,
snow...),
- if the markings on the ground
are worn,
- if there is little contrast between
the markings on the ground and
the road surface.

DRIVING
PARKING SENSORS
This system indicates the proximity
of an obstacle (person, vehicle, tree,
gate, etc.) which comes within the
fi eld of detection of sensors located
in the bumper.
Certain types of obstacle (stake,
roadworks cone, etc.) detected ini-
tially will no longer be detected at
the end of the manoeuvre due to the
presence of blind spots.
Visual assistance
This supplements the audible signal
by displaying bars in the multifunc-
tion screen which move progressive-
ly nearer to the vehicle. When the
obstacle is near, the "Danger" sym-
bol is also displayed in the screen.
Audible assistance
The proximity information is given
by an intermittent audible signal, the
frequency of which increases as the
vehicle approaches the obstacle.
The sound emitted by the speaker
(right or left) indicates the side on
which the obstacle is located.
When the distance between the
vehicle and the obstacle becomes
less than approximately thirty centi-
metres, the audible signal becomes
continuous.
This function cannot, in any circum-
stances, take the place of the vigi-
lance and responsibility of the driver.
Rear parking sensors
The system is switched on by en-
gaging reverse gear. This is accom-
panied by an audible signal.
The system is switched off when you
exit reverse gear.
