  Malfunction  
 Following  disconnection  of  the  ve- 
hicle  battery,  replacement  of  the  re-
mote  control  battery  or  in  the  event 
of a remote control malfunction, you 
can no longer unlock, lock or locate 
your vehicle.  
   
     First of all, use the key in the lock 
to unlock or lock your vehicle. 
  
    
Then, reinitialise the remote control.  
 If  the  problem  persists,  contact  a  
CITROËN dealer as soon as possible.  
  Reinitialisation  
   
     Switch off the ignition. 
  
     Turn  the  key  to  position    2 
(Ignition)  . 
  
     Press  the  closed  padlock  imme-
diately  for  a  few  seconds,  until  
the  operation  requested  is  trig-
gered. 
  
     Switch  off  the  ignition  and  remove 
the key from the ignition switch.  
 The  remote  control  is  fully  opera-
tional again.    Battery ref.: CR0523/3 volts.  
 This  replacement  battery  is  avail- 
able from CITROËN dealers. 
   I f    t h e    b a t t e r y    i s    fl   a t ,  
you  are  informed  by 
lighting of this warning 
light, an audible signal 
and a message on the multifunction 
display.  
   
     Unclip the casing using a coin at 
the notch. 
  
        S l i d e    t h e    fl   a t    b a t t e r y    o u t    o f    i t s
location. 
  
     Slide  the  new  battery  into  its
location  observing  the  original  
direction. 
  
     Clip the casing. 
  
     Reinitialise the remote control.

                     CHECKS 
 Unless  otherwise  indicated,  check  
these  components  in  accordance 
with  the  Maintenance  and  Warranty 
Guide  and  in  relation  to  your  en-
gine.  
 Otherwise, have them checked by a  
CITROËN dealer.  
  Battery  The  battery  does  not  re- 
quire any maintenance.  
 However,  check  that  the  
terminals  are  clean  and 
correctly tightened, particu-
larly in summer and winter. 
 When  carrying  out  work  on  the  bat-
 t e r y ,   r e f e r   t o   t h e   " P r a c t i c a l   i n f o r m a t i o n "  
section  for  details  of  the  precautions 
to  be  taken  before  disconnecting  the 
battery and following its reconnection.  
  Air filter and passenger compartment filter 
 Refer  to  the  Maintenance 
and  Warranty  Guide  for 
details  of  the  replacement 
intervals  for  these  compo-
nents. 
 Depending on the environment (e.g. 
dusty  atmosphere)  and  the  use  of 
the vehicle (e.g. city driving),   replace 
them  twice  as  often  if  necessary   
(refer to the "Engines" paragraph).  
 A  clogged  passenger  compartment  
 fi   l t e r   m a y   h a v e   a n   a d v e r s e   e f f e c t   o n  
the performance of the air condition-
ing  system  and  generate  undesir-
able odours.   
  Oil filter 
   R e p l a c e    t h e    o i l    fi   l t e r    e a c h   
time  the  engine  oil  is 
changed.    Particulate filter system  
(Diesel)  
 Complementary  to  the  catalytic  
 c o n v e r t e r ,    t h i s    fi   l t e r    m a k e s    a n    a c -
tive  contribution  to  the  preservation 
of  air  quality  by  the  retaining  of  the 
unburnt  pollutant  particles.  Black 
exhaust  fumes  are  thus  no  longer 
emitted.  
 After  prolonged  idling  or  driving  
at  very  low  speeds,  you  may  oc-
casionally  notice  water  vapour  be-
ing  emitted  from  the  exhaust  when 
accelerating.  This  is  of  no  conse-
quence to the running of the vehicle 
or to the environment. 
 If  there  is  risk  of  clogging,  a  mes-
sage  appears  on  the  instrument 
panel  display,  accompanied  by  a 
sound  signal  and  lighting  of  the 
service warning lamp.  
 This alert tells you that the particle  
 fi   l t e r    i s    s t a r t i n g    t o    fi   l l    u p    ( i n    c o n d i -
tions  of  urban  driving  of  excep-
tionally  long  duration:  low  speeds, 
 t r a f fi   c   j a m s   e t c . )   . 
   T o   r e g e n e r a t e   t h e   fi   l t e r ,   i t   i s   a d v i s e d   
to drive as soon as possible, when 
 t r a f fi   c   c o n d i t i o n s   p e r m i t ,   a t   a   s p e e d  
of  40  mph  (around  60  km/h)  or 
 m o r e   f o r   a t   l e a s t   fi   v e   m i n u t e s   ( u n t i l  
the alert message disappears).  
 If  this  alert  persists,  consult  a  
CITROËN dealer.

Warranty  Guide  for  details  of  the 
replacement interval for this compo-
nent.
