READY TO GO
Gearbox and steering wheel
- with a manual gearbox , with the vehicle
stationary, put the gear lever into neutral,
then release the clutch pedal,
- with an electronic gearbox , with the
vehicle stationary, hold the brake pedal
down or put the gear lever into position N . Special cases: STOP mode unavailable
The STOP mode is not invoked when:
- the driver's door is open,
- the driver's seat belt is not fastened,
- the heated rear screen is on,
- the windscreen wiper is on fast wipe,
- reverse gear is engaged,
- some special conditions (battery
charge, engine temperature, particle
filter regeneration, braking assistance,
ambient temperature...) where the engine
is needed to assure control of a system.
In this case, a message appears
in the instrument panel screen,
accompanied by the "S" warning
lamp, which flashes for a few
seconds, then goes off.
This operation is perfectly normal.
STOP & START
The Stop & Start system puts the engine
temporarily into standby - STOP mode -
during stops in the traffic (red lights, traffic
jams, or other...). The engine restarts
automatically - START mode - as soon as
you want to move off. The restart takes
place instantly, quickly and silently.
Perfect for urban use, the Stop & Start
system reduces fuel consumption and
exhaust emissions and offers the comfort of
complete silence when stationary.
Operation
Going into engine STOP mode
The "S" warning lamp comes on
in the instrument panel and the
engine goes into standby: Automatic stopping of the engine is
only possible after the vehicle has
exceed a speed of about 6 mph (10 km/h),
to avoid repeated stopping of the engine
when driving slowly.
In the STOP mode Stop & Start, hill
start assist is inactive.
Never leave your vehicle with out first
turning off the ignition with the key.
Never refuel with the engine in STOP
mode; you must switch off the ignition
with the key.

Bluetooth hands-free system
Managing incoming calls
When an incoming call is received, the
message "Phone" appears on the audio
system screen, if it is switched on.
Single call To accept a call, press the
green telephone on the steering
mounted controls. Call waiting
To accept a second call, press the green
telephone on the steering mounted controls
once.
To switch back to the first call, press the
green telephone again.
To decline the second call, press the red
telephone on the steering mounted controls.
To end the call, press the red telephone
again.
To refuse or end a call, press the
red telephone on the steering
mounted controls.
To switch the call between the system and
the mobile telephone (secret mode) and vice
versa, press the green telephone. It is only possible for the system to
manage the call waiting function if the
function is activated on the mobile
telephone. 7676 Activation of the system
Once your mobile telephone has been
paired with the vehicle's hands-free system,
simply:
- turn the ignition key to the MAR position,
- switch on your mobile telephone,
- activate the Bluetooth ®
function on your
mobile telephone.
When the connection is established, an
audible signal is heard and the message
"Phone" appears on the audio system
screen, if it is switched on.
if several paired mobile telephones are
connected at the same time, priority
is allocated in the order in which the
telephones were paired.
Once three telephones are paired, you have
to clear the system memory to add a new
telephone as a replacement for another.

Bluetooth hands-free system
Managing outgoing calls
Using the keypad
Dial the number of the person to be called
on the mobile telephone keypad.
Press the "Pick up" button on the mobile
telephone.
Depending on the model of mobile
telephone, the call will be transferred to
hands-free mode automatically, if it is not,
press the green telephone on the steering
mounted controls.
To redial the last number dialled, press and
hold the green telephone until the number
has been redialled. Using the voice commands
Press the green telephone on the steering
mounted controls.
Wait for the audible signal and/or the
appearance of the message "Phone" in the
audio system screen.
Say the vocal identity of the person to be
called.
The system repeats the vocal identity
for confirmation and makes the call
automatically.
If the vocal identity repeated by the system
is not correct, press the red telephone on
the steering mounted controls to cancel and
start the procedure again.
In order to use the voice commands,
you must first record a vocal identity
and associate it with the telephone number
to be called; refer to your mobile telephone
manual. Clearing the system
To clear the contents of the system's
memory, press the green and red
telephones on the steering mounted controls
simultaneously for more than two seconds.
This operation clears all of the paired mobile
telephones and all of the telephone numbers
recorded in the system's memory.
For the next hands-free call you will have
to repeat the first connection to the system
(pairing) procedure.
Good practice
You can pair up to three mobile telephones
with the system.
For safety reasons and because they
require prolonged attention on the part
of the driver, the operations for pairing the
mobile telephone and the Bluetooth ®
hands-
free kit must be carried out with the vehicle
stationary and the ignition on. 77

CITROËN offers a complete range of recommended chi ld seats which are secured using a
three point seat belt :
The child seats function is shared by
the entire CITROËN range. However,
each individual model has its own special
features.
If your vehicle is fitted with this function, the
passenger airbag must be disarmed using
the trip computer MENU button.
If your vehicle is not fitted with the
passenger airbag disarming function, the
installation of a "rear-facing" child seat on
the vehicle's front seat is strictly prohibited.
The passenger must not travel with a child
on his lap.
Group 0+: from birth to 13 kg Groups 1, 2 and 3: from 9 to 36 kg

ACCESSORIES
Towing a trailer
In certain cases of particularly arduous
use (towing the maximum load up a steep
slope in high temperatures), the engine
automatically limits its power. In this case,
automatic cutting off of the air conditioning
allows the engine power to be saved.
If the coolant temperature
warning light comes on, stop the
vehicle and switch off the engine
as soon as possible.
See the "Levels" section of chapter 7.
Tyres: check the tyre pressures of the
towing vehicle (see the "Identification
markings" section of chapter 7) and of
the trailer, observing the recommended
pressures.
Brakes: towing increases the braking
distance. Drive at a moderate speed,
change down early and brake gradually.
Side wind: sensitivity to side wind is
increased. Drive smoothly and at a
moderate speed.
ABS: the system only controls the vehicle,
not the trailer.
Rear parking sensors: the sensors
will be deactivated automatically
when an genuine CITROËN towbar is used
(see the "Rear parking sensors" section of
chapter 3). Towbar
We recommend the use of original
CITROËN towbars and their harnesses,
which have been tested and approved from
the design stage of your vehicle, and that
the fitting of this equipment is entrusted to a
CITROËN dealer.
If this equipment is not fitted by a CITROËN
dealer, it is essential that it is fitted using
the electrical pre-equipment located at
the rear of the vehicle and following the
manufacturer's instructions.
The operation of the rear parking sensors is
deactivated automatically when the trailer
cable connector is inserted in the towbar
socket.
When the trailer cable is removed, the rear
parking sensors are re-activated.
Distribution of loads
Distribute the load in the trailer so that the
heaviest objects are as close as possible
to the axle and the nose weight is close to
the maximum authorised without, however,
exceeding it. The air density decreases with
altitude, so reducing the performance of
the engine. The maximum towed load must
be reduced by 10 % for each 1 000 metres
of altitude. Refer to the "Technical data"
chapter for details of the weights and
towed loads applicable to your vehicle
and also to the administrative documents
(V5 registration document, ...).

BATTERY
Models without Stop & Start

- Connect the red cable to the metallic
point A then to the positive (+) terminal of
the slave battery B .
- Connect one end of the green or black cable to the negative (-) terminal of the
slave battery B .
- Connect the other end of the green or black cable to the earth point C on your
vehicle (never to the metallic point D of
your vehicle).
- Operate the starter, let the engine run.
- Wait for the engine to return to idle, then disconnect the cables.
Never charge a battery without first
disconnecting the terminals.
- Disconnect the two quick-fit battery terminals.
- Follow the instructions for use given by the battery charger manufacturer.
- Check that the battery posts and terminals are clean. If they are covered
with sulphate (white or greenish deposit),
disconnect them and clean them.
- Reconnect the two quick-fit terminals, starting with the negative (-) terminal.

vehicle (never to the metallic point H of
your vehicle).
- Operate the starter, let the engine run.
- Wait for the engine to return to idle, then disconnect the cables.
- Refit the protective cover A to the
metallic point B .
The Stop & Start battery does not have
to be disconnected for charging.
- Press the release button E to disconnect
the terminal F .
- Disconnect the connector F of the check
sensor G .
- Remove the protective cover A from the
metallic point B .
- Connect the charger cables: (+) on the metallic point B ; (-) on the metallic point H . Never remove the check sensor
G
from the metallic point H , except
when replacing the battery.

Battery Batteries contain harmful substances
such as sulphuric acid and lead. They
must be disposed of in accordance with the
law and must not, in any circumstances be
discarded with household waste.
Take used batteries to an authorised waste
disposal site.
It is advisable to disconnect the battery
if the vehicle is not to be used for a
period of more than one month. To do
this on models with Stop & Start:
- press the release button E to disconnect
connector F ,
- disconnect connector F of check sensor G .
Never remove the check sensor G from the
metallic point H , except when replacing the
battery.
The presence of this label, in particular
with the Stop & Start system, indicates
the use of a 12 V lead-acid battery with
special technology and specification, for
which the involvement of a CITROËN dealer
is required when replacing or disconnecting
the battery.
Failure to observe this recommendation may
cause premature wear of the battery.
After refitting the battery, the Stop &
Start system will only be active after
a continuous period of immobilisation of
the vehicle, a period which depends on the
climatic conditions and the state of charge of
the battery (up to about 8 hours). Before charging
The charging operation must be carried out in
a v e n t i l a t e d a r e a a w a y f r o m n a k e d fl a m e s o r
any possible sources of sparks to eliminate the
r i s k s o f e x p l o s i o n a n d fi r e .
Do not attempt to charge a frozen battery: it
m u s t fi r s t b e t h a w e d t o e l i m i n a t e t h e r i s k s o f
explosion. If the battery has frozen, before
charging it have it checked by a specialist who
will check that the internal components have
not been damaged and that the container is
not cracked, which could mean that there is a
risk of a leak of toxic and corrosive acid.
Before disconnecting
Never disconnect a terminal when the
engine is running.
Before disconnecting the battery, you must wait
for 2 minutes after switching off the ignition.
Close the windows and doors before
disconnecting the battery. After reconnecting
After every reconnection of the battery,
switch on the ignition and wait 1 minute
before starting to allow the electronic
systems to be initialised. If difficulties are
experienced after this, contact a CITROËN
dealer.
If the battery has been disconnected
for some time, it may be necessary to
reinitialise the following functions:
- the display parameters (date, time,
language, distance and temperature
units),
- the radio stations,
- the central locking.
Some settings are cleared and must be
reprogrammed. Contact a CITROËN dealer.
