Unlock the doors by using the key in the
door lock; the alarm is triggered.
Switch on the ignition, recognition of the
key's code turns off the alarm.Locking the doors by using the key in
the door lock does not set the alarm.
deactivation using the remote control
When this button is pressed, the
alarm is deactivated when the
vehicle is unlocked.
deactivation of the anti-tilt
protection*
Press this control to deactivate
the protection (when towing the
vehicle with the alarm on, for
example).
The protection remains active until the doors
are unlocked with the central locking.
ALArM
If your vehicle is fitted with an anti-theft
alarm.
This provides:
-
exterior perimeter protection by
detectors on the openings (doors,
bonnet) and on the electrical power
supply,
-
anti-tilt protection*.
Activation of the alarm
First ensure that all of the doors and bonnet
are closed correctly.
*
Depending on engine.
Good practice
to deactivate the siren quickly following
a false alarm:
-
switch on the ignition, recognition of the
key's code will switch off the alarm,
-
press the unlocking button (cab and key)
on the remote control.
To avoid setting the alarm, when washing
the vehicle for example, lock the vehicle
using the key.
Unlocking the vehicle using the remote
control deactivates the siren automatically.
The alarm is set by pressing this
padlock, the protection is active
after a few seconds.
While the alarm is monitoring,
any intrusion triggers the siren for
approximately 30 seconds, accompanied by
illumination of the direction indicators.
The alarm then returns to
monitoring mode but the
triggering event is stored and is
indicated by illumination of the
electronic immobiliser warning lamp for about
10
seconds when the ignition is switched on.
The alarm is also triggered following an
electrical supply cut-off, when the supply is
restored.

44Special cases
This indicator lamp in the
instrument panel flashes for a
few seconds, then goes off.
t
his operation is perfectly normal. S
t
A
rt invoked automatically
The START mode may be invoked
automatically in the following circumstances:
-
the vehicle is free wheeling on a
gradient,
-
the windscreen wiper is on fast wipe,
-
the air conditioning is running,
-
the engine has been stopped for around
3 minutes with Stop & Start,
-
some special conditions (battery charge,
engine temperature, braking assistance,
ambient temperature...) where the
engine is needed to assure control of
a system.
In this case, a message appears
in the instrument panel screen,
accompanied by this indicator
lamp, which flashes for a few
seconds, then goes off.
Good practice
With a manual gearbox in STOP mode, if a
gear is engaged without fully depressing the
clutch pedal, restarting may not take place.
An indicator lamp and/or message is
displayed in the instrument panel asking
you to fully depress the clutch pedal to allow
restarting.
t
his operation is perfectly normal. With the engine stopped in STOP
mode, if the driver unfasten's
their seat belt and opens a front
door, the engine can only be
restarted using the ignition key. There is
an audible signal, accompanied by flashing
of this indicator lamp and the display of a
message.
S
tOP
mode may be unavailable
STOP mode is not invoked in the following
circumstances:
-
the system is initialising,
-
the driver's door is open,
-
the driver's seat belt is not fastened,
-
the air conditioning is running,
-
the heated rear screen is on,
-
the windscreen wiper is on fast wipe,
-
reverse gear is engaged, for a parking
manoeuvre,
-
some special conditions (battery
charge, engine temperature, particle
filter regeneration, braking assistance,
ambient temperature...) where the
engine is needed to assure control of
a
system,
-
in intensive use of Stop & Start, it may
be deactivated to conserve starting
ability; go to a CITROËN dealer to have
the function reactivated.

67Intake of exterior airrecommended settings for the manual air conditioning
For optimum operation of this system, the settings below are recommended:
recirculation of interior air
This position should only be
temporary.
Used with the air conditioning
switched on and the fan setting
(from 1 to 4), recirculation enables you to
obtain the required ambient air comfort level
with both hot or cold settings.
Recirculation temporarily prevents exterior
odours and smoke from entering the
passenger compartment. If I require...

driving advice
distribution of loads: distribute the load in
the trailer so that the heaviest objects are as
close as possible to the axle and the nose
weight is close to the maximum authorised
without, however, exceeding it.
c
ooling: towing a trailer on a slope
increases the coolant temperature.
As the fan is electrically controlled, its
cooling capacity is not dependent on the
engine speed.
On the contrary, use a high gear to lower the
engine speed and reduce your speed.
In all cases, pay attention to the coolant
temperature.
tyres:
check the tyre pressures of the
towing vehicle and of the trailer, observing
the recommended pressures.
Fitting a towbar
We recommend the use of genuine
CITROËN towbars and their harnesses,
which have been tested and approved from
the design stage of your vehicle and that
the fitting of this equipment is entrusted to
a
CITROËN dealer.
These genuine towbars are compatible with
the operation of the rear parking sensors
and the reversing camera, if fitted to your
vehicle.
If this equipment is not fitted by a CITROËN
dealer, it must be fitted in line with the
manufacturer's instructions.
Good practice
If the coolant temperature
warning lamp comes on, stop the
vehicle and switch off the engine
as soon as possible.
Refer to the "Checks - Levels and
checks" section.
Brakes: towing increases the braking
distance. Drive at a moderate speed,
change down early and brake gradually. Side wind: sensitivity to side wind is
increased. Drive smoothly and at a
moderate speed. ABS: the system only controls the vehicle,
not the trailer.
r
ear parking sensors: the system is
deactivated while the vehicle is towing with a
genuine CITROËN towbar fitted.
Refer to the "Technical data -
Identification markings" section.

On the inside
This operation must only be carried out with the
vehicle stationary and the driver's door open.
Pull the release lever on the side of the
dashboard towards you.
On the outside
Raise the safety catch lever located above
the grille to the right and raise the bonnet. Before closing the bonnet, put the stay back
in its housing.
Lower the bonnet and release it at the end
of its travel. Check that the bonnet has
latched.
OPEnInG tHE BOnnEt
Do not open the bonnet in strong
winds.
When the engine is hot, handle the safety
catch and stay with care (risk of burns).
Before doing anything under the
bonnet, switch off the ignition with the
key to avoid any risk of injury resulting from
an automatic change to START mode of the
Stop & Start system.
cLOSInG tHE BOnnEt
Bonnet stay
Unclip the stay and tilt it to insert it in the
first notch, then the second.
Because of the presence of electrical
equipment under the bonnet, it is
recommended that exposure to water (rain,
washing, ...) be limited.
