CC.1 : S hort-circuit at +12 volts
Conditions for diagnostic appl ication to memorized failure:
Start t he e ngine a nd stop it immediately as the failure is oc curring as being
prese nt (risk for catalyst) or rota te de engine with the starter, without starting it,
for 10 seconds.
In case of failures addition, treat as most important, failure “ DF345 : Supply 5
volts potenti ometers or sensors “ and failure “DF261: Fuel pump relay circui t”,
if it is /they are present
* If the failure is memorized with OBD indicator on, check in the context part, if
st ate “ET282 : Ignition coil 1-4 circuit” corresponding to the OBD indicator
lighting request is affirmative. In this case , proceed as per bellow mentioned
met hod
C heck the connection and condition of the coil connector .
R eplace the connector if necessary.
C heck the resistance of the coil resistance of c ylinders 1-4. Refer to chapte r
“Help” in order to compare the measured resistance values with the recommended
one .
R eplace the coil if necessary.
Check the +12 Volts supply existence after fue l pump relay, at pin C of the coi l.
If it is necessary, apply the methodology for failure diagnostic “DF261”
C onnect the 90 ways terminal box instead of the injection computer the n check
t he insulation and continuity on line:
pin 32 injection computer > pin A ignition coil.
Fi x if necessary.
If the problem is persisting after the se checking, treat the other failures then
perform the conformity checking.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Pe rform the operations from ” recommendations” for reparation confirma tion.
Fi x any other possible failures
Erase the failures memoriz ed by the injection computer.
Pe rform a conformity checking by means of the CLIP tester.

Conditions for diagnostic appl ication to memorized failure:

Conditions for diagnostic appl ication to memorized failure:
P erform a drive te st and notice the vehicle speed.
C ontinue to perform the drive test uphill at constant speed.
C ontinue to perform the drive test uphill, the acceleration pedal not being
pushe d.
* If the failure is memoriz ed with OBD indicator on, check in the context
part, if state “ET223 : Vehicle speed transducer circuit” corresponding to
t he OBD indicator lighting request is affirma tive. In this case , proceed as
per bellow mentioned method
C heck the connection and condition of the speed transduc er connector .
R eplace the connector if necessary.
C onnect the 90 w ays terminal box instead of the injection computer then check the insulation,
continuity and the absence of the parasite resistance on line 53 of the injection computer on line.
If the problem is persisting, replace the spe ed tr ansducer.
Pe rform the operations from ” recommendations” for reparation confirma tion.
Fi x any other possible failures.
Erase the failures memoriz ed by the injection computer.
Pe rform a conformity checking by means of the CLIP tester.

C heck for leakage on exhaust line.
If the vehicle is mostly driven in town, perform an oxygen sensor cleaning.
C heck the connection and condition of the oxygen sensor connector .
R eplace the connector if necessary.
C onnect the 90 ways terminal box instead of the injection computer then check the insulation,
continuity and the absence of the parasite resistance on lines: Pin 45 injection computer > pin C upstream oxygen sensor
Pin 80 injection computer > pin D upstream sensor
Pin 63 injection computer > pin B upstream sensor
Fi x it if necessary.
If the proble m is persisting, repla ce the oxygen sensor.
If the problem is persisting after these checking, treat the other failures then perform the conformity
checking.
Note any other functional failures.
Fix any other possible failures.

Apply this diagnostic if the failure is prese nt or memorized.
CATALYST FUNCTIONAL FAILURE
It shows an inc oherent information receive d before and after catalyst by
me ans of the two oxygen sensors.
Ch eck for leakage on exhaust line.
Fi x it if necessary.
Pe rform a visual checking of the catalyst condition. O deforma tion may be the explanation for its
non-operation.
Ch eck if the catalyst has not previously suffered therma l shocks.
If cold wate r is getting on a warm catalyst it may cause its damaging.
Ch eck for oil or cooling fluid excessive consumption Ask the client if he has used an additive or a
sim ilar product. This type of product may inhibit the catalyst and render it inefficient on short or
l ong term.
Ch eck if there was any combustion misfires. These may damage the catalyst.
Ch eck during a drive test for any noises during running.
If the damaging cause has been found, you may replace the catalyst. If you replace the catalyst
without det ecting the cause, the new catalyst may be damaged al so very qui ckly.

DESTRUCTIVE COMBUSTION MISFIRE
St ate ET014 : Recognition of the cylinder 1 must be active, in order to
i dentify each cylinder.
ET093 : combustion misfire on cylinder 1
ET094 : combustion misfire on cylinder 2
ET095 : combustion misfire on cylinder 3
ET096 : combustion misfire on cylinder 4
These w ill provide information regarding failure cause and location.
In this situation, the problem is probably due to an element that can act
only on one cylinder:
- Problem at injector
A cylinder is declared - Problem at spark plug
damaged : ET093 or ET094 - Problem at high voltage cable.
or ET095 or ET096. Before replacement, try the spark plug or cable changing to anothe r
cylinder.
Cy linders 1 and 4 or In this cylinders 2 and 3 declared situation, the proble m is probably
damaged : ET093 and ET 0 96 due to an eleme nt that can act only this pair of cylinders:
or ET094 and ET095. - Problem at ignition coil, at the high voltage part. - Problem at ignition coil, at the control part
In this situation, the problem is probably due to an element tha t can
F our cylinders declared act only on all cylinders:
damaged : ET093 and -Problem at fuel filter
ET094 or ET095 and ET096. -Problem at fuel pump
-Problem on in use fuel type
-Problem of in use spark plugs
In case by using this method the problem is not solved, cons ult the fail ures diagnostic DF109 / DF
1 10 CONTINUA TION
Ensure that all failures are solved. Erase all memorized failures.
There is no need to erase the “adaptive values” memoriz ed by the injection computer.
In order to check the correct reparation of the system, the following conditions must be
AF TER accomplished:
REPARATION - No more electrical failures;
- All “adaptive values” to be memorized by the injection computer;
- Warm engine (minimum 75°C);
- Run at idling, all consumers being in use for 20 minutes (1 minute DF110);
- If the failure is again occurring, repeat the dia gnostic.

ET093 : combustion misfire on cylinder 1
ET094 : combustion misfire on cylinder 2
RE COMMENDATIONSET0 95 : combustion misfire on cylinder 3
ET096 : combustion misfire on cylinder 4
These w ill provide information regarding failure cause and location.
C heck the ignition system ( refer to chapter “Help” ).
Fix it if necessary.
C heck the engine compression.
Fix it if necessary.
C heck the flywheel condition , in order to get a correct information of the engine RPM.
Fix it if necessary.
If no failure has been found, there is a problem on the fuel supply cir cuit.
In this situation the following must be checked:
- Fuel filter
-F uel pressure and flow
-F uel pump condition
-F uel tank cleaning condition]
-I njector s conditions
Mend the fuel supply circuit.
Ensure that all failures are solved. Erase the memorized failures.
There is no need to erase the “adaptive values” memorized by the injection
computer. In order to check the correct reparation of the system, the following
conditions must be accomplished:
AF TER - No more electrical failures.
REPARATION - All “adaptive values” to be memor ized by the injection computer.
- Warm engine (minimum 75°C)
- Run at idling, all consumers being in use for 20 minutes (1 minute
DF110).

On the vehicles equipped with refrigerant fluid pressure
transducers, the injection computer is recalculating the value of the
RE COMMENDATIONSPR 044 parameter: Compressor absorbed power, starting from the
values of the refrige rant fluid pressure.
In case of the paramete r PR027 deviation from normal values, the
value of the PR044 parameter might be wrong.
C heck the connection and condition of the connector of the refrigerant fluid pressure transducer.
M end if necessary.
C onnect the 90 ways terminal box instead of the injection computer then check the insulation and
continuity on lines: Pin 82 injection computer > p in A pres sure transducer
Pin 83 injection computer > pin B pressure transducer
Pin 18 injection computer > p in C pres sure transducer
M end if necessary.
If the problem is persisting, perform a climate control diagnostic.
Pe rform the operations from ” recommendations” for reparation confir mation
AF TER Fix any other possible failures
REPARATION Erase the failures memoriz ed by the injection computer.
Perform a conformity checking by means of the CLIP tester.

DF 120OBD INDICATOR CIRCUIT
P RESENT 1. DEF : Open circuit or short-circuit

CC.1 : short circuit at + 12 V.
Apply the diagnostic in suc h way so that failure is prese nt or memo
rized.
RE COMMENDATIONSConditions for diagnostic appl ication at memorized failure:
- Actuator control launching AC 213 : OBD Indicator
C heck the insu lation, continuity and absence of the parasite resistance on way 34 of the
injection computer.
M end if necessary.
Ensure the presence of + 12volts at OBD indicator
C heck the cockpit fuse box, related to instrument panel supplying.
Replace it if necessary.
Perform the operations from ” recommendations” for reparation confir mation
AF TER Fix any other possible failures
REPARATION Erase the failures memoriz ed by the injection computer.
Perform a conformity checking by means of the CLIP tester.

DF 261 FUEL PUMP RELAY CIRCUIT
P RESENT 1. DEF Supply failure + after relay
OR 2. DEF Open circuit or short-circuit
ME MO RIZED
If failure “DF345 : Supply 5 volts potentiometers and sensor s” is
present or memori zed, it must be treated as most important .
Conditions for diagnostic appl ication at memorized failure:
Se t the contact on, then enter in dia logue with the computer
Or activation of the actua tor control “ AC 010 : Fuel pump relay”.
RECOMMEND ATIONS REMARK : This failure is most important. So it must be treated before
t he next ones.
* If the failure is memorized with OBD indicator on, check in the context
part, if state “ET241 : Fuel pump control cir cuit” corresponding to the
OBD indicator lighting request is affir mative. In this case , proceed as
per bellow mentioned method
1. DEF RECOM MENDAT IONS It is a failure on the power circuit of the fuel
pump relay.
C heck the electric continuity f the idleness contact.
Me nd if necessary.
C heck the connection and con dition of the fuel pump relay connector .
R eplace the connector if necessary.
C heck the presence of the +12 volts supply at pole 3 of the fuel pump relay
Me nd if necessary.
C heck with the contact set on a nd acting the actuator c ontrol “AC010 : Fuel pump relay”, the
prese nce of +12 V supply at pole 5 of the fuel pump relay.
R eplace the relay if necessa ry
C heck the insu lation and cont inuity of the connections between:
Pole 5 fuel pump relay > pi n C ignition coil
Pole 5 fuel pump relay > fuel pump
Me nd if necessary.
If the problem is persisting after these checking, treat the other failures then perform the
conformity checking.
Perform the operations from ” recommendations” for reparation confirma tion.
AF TER Fix any other possible failures
REPARATION Erase the failures memoriz ed by the injection computer.
Perform a conformity checking by means of the CLIP tester.
