DIAG
NOSING-INTERPRETING THE STATES
PARAM ETERDETONATION SIGNAL
SUGGESTIONSNo defect should be present or memorized
The de tonation sensor should generate a signal, the amplitude of which must differ from 0,
a proof of the fact that it perceives the mechanical vibrations of the engine.
If th e signal = 0:
- check if the sensor is well fixed
- ch eck the insulation and continuity of cabling along the circuits:
pin 20 of calculator
♦ pin 1 of detonation sensor
pin 79 of calculator
♦ pin 2 of detonation sensor
pin 19 of calculator
♦ pin 1 of detonation sensor screening.
Replace detonation sensor if necessary.
AFTER REPAIR
PA R A M E T E RADAPTATION OF ENRICHMENT WHILE RUNNING
ADAPTATION OF ENRICHMENT IN IDLE MODE
SUGGESTIONS No defect should be present or memorized.
Do initialization.
Ma
ke sure the canister draining valve is watertight.
Erase memo ry o f th e injection calculator.
With the engine hot, in the stage of the idle mode adjustment, watch these parameters and
notice:
- if one of the parameters drifts to the MAX limit, then there is no enough petrol
- if one of the parameters drifts to the MIN limit, then there is too much petrol.
Ensure the cleanness and the good functioning of:
- p etrol filter
- petr ol pump
- petrol supply circuit
- petr ol tank.
AFTER REPAIR Perform again the conformity test.
Perform again the conformity test

1. CHECKING WATERTIGHTNESS OF CIRCUIT
The MS 554-01 adapter is mounted instead of the valve of the de-gassing pot.
The MS 554-07 device is connected to the adapter.
The engine is heated, and then stopped.
the pump is used in order to put the circuit under pressure. The pumping is stopped at a value 0.1 bar smaller than the tare value of the valve ( 1.2 bar).
Th e pr essure must not go down; otherwise, the leak is looked for.
Th e junction of the device for cooling system decompression is progressively unscrewed,
then the apparatus is taken off and the valve of the de-gassing pot, equipped with a new fitting,
is mounted.
2. CHECKING WATERTIGHTNESS OF CIRCUIT
The MS 554-06 devi ce, then the pressure in the circuit is reestablished; this pressure must
become stable at the tare value of the valve with the control tolerance of +/-0.1 bar.
Th e tare value of the valve of the de-gassing pot: 1.2 bar.

DISMOUNTING
The car is set on a two-column lifting stand.
The ba ttery is disconnected.
Th e co oling circuit is emptied at the filling stopper placed at the lower part of the radiator.
The fo llowing are taken apart.
- the distribution belt (see Chapter “ Distribution belt”) ;
- the ex tending pulley / runner (1);
- the fixing screws of the water-pump.
The water-pump is taken out at the upper end of the engine compartment.

CLEANING
It is very important t hat the fitting surfaces of the aluminum parts should not be scratched.
Use Decapjoint to dissolve the particles of fitting that are left stuck to them.
The pa ste i s applied onto the c leaning surface and then you wait for approx. 10 minutes,
then it is removed with a wooden spatula.
Du ring this operation you should used protection gloves.
R
EMO UNTING
The watert ightness of the water-pump is done with LOCTITE 518; the H cord has the
thickness of 0,6-1 mm and must be applied according with the chart below. The distri bution belt is re-mounted (see Chapter “ Distribution belt ”).
The cooling circuit is filled and dra ined (see Chapter “ Filling and Draining”).
