HEATED SEATS
Front Heated Seats
• The heated seats are operated using the Uconnect® System.
Uconnect® 8.4
• Press the Controls soft-key located on theUconnect® display.
• Press the Driver or Passenger seat soft- key once to select HI-level heating. Press
the soft-key a second time to select LO-
level heating. Press the soft-key a third
time to shut the heating elements OFF.
• If the High-level setting is selected, the system will automatically switch to Low-
level after approximately 60 minutes. The
Low-level setting will turn Off automati-
cally after approximately 45 minutes.
NOTE:
The front heated seats can also be selected from the Uconnect® startup screen when the
vehicle ignition switch is first cycled to the ON/RUN position.
WARNING!
• Persons who are unable to feel pain to the skin because of advanced age, chronic illness, diabetes, spinal cord injury, medication, alcohol use, exhaustion or other
physical conditions must exercise care when using the seat heater. It may cause
burns even at low temperatures, especially if used for long periods of time.
• Do not place anything on the seat that insulates against heat, such as a blanket or
cushion. This may cause the seat heater to overheat. Sitting in a seat that has been
overheated could cause serious burns due to the increased surface temperature of
the seat.

HEATED STEERING WHEEL
• The steering wheel contains a heating element that heats the steering wheel to onetemperature setting.
• To access the Heated Steering Wheel soft-key, touch the Controls soft-key located on the Uconnect® display.
• Touch the soft-key once to turn the heating element On. Press the soft-key a second time to turn the heating element Off.
• Once the heated steering wheel has been turned on, it will operate for approximately 58 to 70 minutes before automatically shutting off. The heated steering wheel can shut off
early or may not turn on when the steering wheel is already warm.
TILT / TELESCOPING STEERING COLUMN
• The tilt/telescoping control lever is lo-cated below the steering wheel at the end
of the steering column.
• Push down on the lever to unlock the steering column.
• To tilt the steering column, move the steering wheel upward or downward as
desired. To lengthen or shorten the steer-
ing column, pull the steering wheel out-
ward or push it inward as desired.
• Pull upward on the lever to lock the col- umn firmly in place.
WARNING!
Do not adjust the steering wheel while driving. The tilt/telescoping adjustment must be
locked while driving. Adjusting the steering wheel while driving or driving without the
tilt/telescoping adjustment locked could cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
Failure to follow this warning may result in you and others being severely injured or killed.
GETTING STARTED

MESSAGEDESCRIPTION
AUTOMATIC MODE NOT AVAILABLE The transmission is unable to shift itself au- tomatically, due to a fault condition. Use theAutoStick® mode to shift the transmission
manually. See your authorized dealer for di- agnosis and service.
REDUCE GEAR CHANGES The transmission pump is overheating. In
AutoStick® mode, try to drive in one specific gear as much as possible, avoiding frequent
gear changes. In DRIVE, the transmission will automatically modify its shift schedule to reduce the number of shifts.
TRANS. GETTING HOT PRESS BRAKE The transmission driving clutch is overheat- ing, usually due to repeated launches in
stop-and-go traffic. Pull over and allow the transmission to cool in NEUTRAL until
“TRANS. COOL READY TO DRIVE” is dis- played.
TRANS. HOT STOP SAFELY SHIFT TO P The transmission driving clutch has over- heated. Pull over, shift the transmission intoPARK, and allow the vehicle to cool until“TRANS. COOL READY TO DRIVE” is dis- played.
SERVICE TRANSMISSION A transmission fault has been detected. See
your authorized dealer for diagnosis and ser- vice.
SERVICE SHIFTER A shift lever fault has been detected. See
your authorized dealer for diagnosis and ser- vice.
ENGAGE PARK BRAKE The sensor that monitors PARK engagement
is not functioning properly. Engage the park- ing brake to ensure that the vehicle will not roll when in PARK.

IF YOUR ENGINE OVERHEATS
• In any of the following situations, you can reduce the potential for overheating by takingthe appropriate action.
• On the highways — slow down.
• In city traffic — while stopped, place the transmission in NEUTRAL, but do not increase engine idle speed.
NOTE:
There are steps that you can take to slow down an impending overheat condition:
• If your air conditioner (A/C) is on, turn it off. The A/C system adds heat to the engine cooling system and turning the A/C off can help remove this heat.
• You can also turn the temperature control to maximum heat, the mode control to floor and the blower control to high. This allows the heater core to act as a supplement to the
radiator and aids in removing heat from the engine cooling system.
CAUTION!
Vehicles with base cluster
• Driving with a hot cooling system could damage your vehicle. If the temperature
gauge reads H (hot), pull over and stop the vehicle. Idle the vehicle with the air
conditioner turned off until the pointer drops back into the normal range. If the
pointer remains on H (hot), turn the engine off immediately and call for service.
Vehicles with premium cluster
• Driving with a hot cooling system could damage your vehicle. If the temperature gauge reads 240°F (116 °C) or greater pull over and stop the vehicle. Idle the vehicle
with the air conditioner turned off until the pointer drops back into the normal range
200–230°F (93–110°C). If the pointer remains at 240°F (116°C) or greater and you hear
a chime, turn the engine off immediately and call for service.
WARNING!
You or others can be badly burned by hot engine coolant (antifreeze) or steam from your
radiator. If you see or hear steam coming from under the hood, do not open the hood until
the radiator has had time to cool. Never try to open a cooling system pressure cap when
the radiator or coolant bottle is hot.

FREEING A STUCK VEHICLE
• If your manual transmission vehicle becomes stuck in mud, sand, or snow, it can often bemoved by a rocking motion. Turn your steering wheel right and left to clear the area
around the front wheels. Then shift back and forth between DRIVE/1st Gear and RE-
VERSE. Using minimal accelerator pedal pressure to maintain the rocking motion,
without spinning the wheels, is most effective.
NOTE:
• Automatic transmission vehicles cannot be rocked in this manner, because the trans- mission will not allow shifts between DRIVE and REVERSE while the wheels are turning.
• If your vehicle is equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) or Traction Control
,
turn the system off before attempting to “rock” the vehicle.
CAUTION!
• Racing the engine or spinning the wheels may lead to transmission overheating and
failure. Allow the engine to idle with the shift lever in NEUTRAL for at least one minute
after every five rocking-motion cycles. This will minimize overheating and reduce the
risk of transmission failure during prolonged efforts to free a stuck vehicle.
• When “rocking” a stuck vehicle by moving between DRIVE/1st gear and REVERSE, do
not spin the wheels faster than 15 mph (24 km/h), or drivetrain damage may result.
• Revving the engine or spinning the wheels too fast may lead to transmission over-
heating and failure. It can also damage the tires. Do not spin the wheels above
30 mph (48 km/h) while in gear (no transmission shifting occurring).
WARNING!
Fast spinning tires can be dangerous. Forces generated by excessive wheel speeds may
cause damage, or even failure, of the axle and tires. A tire could explode and injure
someone. Do not spin your vehicle's wheels faster than 30 mph (48 km/h) or for longer
than 30 seconds continuously without stopping when you are stuck and do not let
anyone near a spinning wheel, no matter what the speed.
