PASSENGER/SIDE AIRBAGS
DEACTIVATED (amber)
The warning light
switches on when the front
passenger's airbag and side bag are disabled. With
front passenger airbag on, when the ignition key
is turned to MAR-ON, the
warning light switches
on constantly for several seconds, it flashes for
another few seconds and then it should switch off.
WARNING
A failure of the
warning light is
indicated by warning light
switching
on. In addition, the airbag system
automatically disables the airbags on the
passenger's side (both front and side airbags
where provided). Before continuing, contact
a Fiat Dealership immediately to have the
system checked.
UNFASTENED SEAT BELTS (red)
The warning light switches on constantly with the
car stationary and the driver's side or passenger
side seat belt (when the passenger is present) not
fastened. The warning light will flash and a buzzer
will sound if the car is in motion and the front seat
belts are not correctly fastened. The SBR (Seat Belt Reminder) system buzzer can
only be permanently switched off by a Fiat
Dealership.
The system can be reactivated using the Setup
Menu.
LOW BATTERY CHARGE (red)
When the ignition key is turned to MAR-ON, the
warning light (for versions/markets, where
provided) switches on but should switch off as soon
as the engine is started (with the engine idling, a
brief delay is acceptable). If the warning light (or
symbol on the display) comes on, either constantly
or flashing, contact a Fiat Dealership immediately.CONTINUOUSLY ON: LOW

EXCESSIVE ENGINE COOLANT
TEMPERATURE (red)
Turning the key to the MAR-ON position the
warning light switches on, but it should switch off
after a few seconds. The warning light turns on
when the engine is overheated. If the warning light
comes on, proceed as follows:
❒when driving normally:stop the car, stop the
engine and check that the water level in the
reservoir is not below the MIN mark. If it is, wait
for a few minutes for the engine to cool down
then slowly and carefully open the cap, top
up with coolant and check that the level is
between the MIN and MAX marks. Also check
visually for any fluid leaks. If, when restarting, the
warning light should come on again, contact a
Fiat Dealership.
❒If the car is used under demanding
conditions(e.g. towing trailers uphill or fully
loaded): slow down and, if the light stays on, stop
the car. Wait for 2 or 3 minutes with the engine
running and slightly accelerated to further favour
the coolant circulation. Then stop the engine.
Check the correct coolant level as described
above.
IMPORTANT Over demanding routes, it is
advisable to keep the engine on and slightly
accelerated for a few minutes before switching it
off.
The display will show the dedicated message.
INCOMPLETE DOOR LOCKING
(red)
This warning light (or symbol on the display)
switches on when one or more doors are not
properly shut. An acoustic signal is activated with
the doors open and the car moving.LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT NOT
PROPERLY SHUT
This symbol (for versions/markets where provided)
switches on in the display when the luggage
compartment is not properly shut. On certain
versions warning light
comes on instead.
BONNET NOT PROPERLY SHUT
This symbol (for versions/markets where provided)
switches on in the display when the bonnet is not
properly shut. On certain versions warning light
comes on instead.

DPF (DIESEL PARTICULATE
FILTER) CLEANING IN PROGRESS
(only diesel versions with DPF)
(amber)
Turning the key to the MAR-ON position the
warning light switches on, but it should switch off
after a few seconds. The warning light (together
with a message and a symbol on the display on
some versions) switches on constantly to notify the
driver that the DPF system needs to eliminate
captured pollutants (particulate) by the
regeneration process.
The warning light does not switch on during every
DPF regeneration, but only when driving conditions
require that the driver is notified. To switch the
warning light off, the car must be kept moving until
the regeneration process is completed.
On average, the process lasts fifteen minutes. The
best conditions to complete the regeneration
process are reached driving the car at about 60
km/h with engine speed over 2000 rpm.
When this warning light switches on, it does not
indicate a fault of the car and it should therefore
not be taken to a workshop. A specific message will
appear on the display when the warning light
comes on (for versions/markets, where provided).
WARNING
The driving speed should always be
suitable to traffic conditions, weather
conditions and the driver should always
comply with traffic regulations.The engine
may be turned off while the DPF light is on;
however, repeated interruption of the
regeneration process may result in premature
degradation of the engine oil. For this reason,
always wait until the warning light switches off
before stopping the engine as described
above. It is not a good idea to complete DPF
regeneration with the car stationar y.FUEL RESERVE (amber)
Turning the key to the MAR-ON position the
warning light switches on, but it should switch off
after a few seconds. The warning light turns on
when 8-10 litres of fuel are left in the tank.
IMPORTANT The warning light will flash to indicate
a system failure. If this is the case, go to the Fiat
Dealership to have the system checked.

EOBD/INJECTION SYSTEM
FAILURE (amber)
In normal conditions, when the ignition key is
turned to MAR-ON the warning light switches on,
but should switch off as soon as the engine is
started.
If the warning light remains on or comes on whilst
driving, it means that the injection system is not
working properly; in particular, if the warning light
comes on constantly, this indicates a malfunction in
the supply/ignition system that could cause
excessive exhaust emissions, a possible loss of
performance, poor driveability and high fuel
consumption.
The display will show the dedicated message.
Under these conditions, you may continue travelling
at moderate speed without demanding excessive
effort from the engine. Prolonged use of the car
with the warning light on may cause damage:
contact a Fiat Dealership as soon as possible.
The warning light goes out after the fault
disappears, but the notification is stored in the
system.
Petrol engines only
If the warning light flashes, this indicates potential
catalytic converter damage. If the light flashes, it is necessary to release the
accelerator pedal to lower the speed of the engine
until the warning light stops flashing; continue
the journey at moderate speed, trying to avoid
driving conditions that may cause further flashing
and contact a Fiat Dealership as soon as possible.
Contact a Fiat Dealership as soon as
possible if the
warning light either
does not switch on when the key is
turned to MAR-ON or if while driving the
warning light switches on either constantly or
flashing (along with a message and a symbol on
the display on some versions). The operation
of warning light
may be checked by the
traffic police using specific devices. Comply with
the laws and regulations of the country where
you are driving.
ESP SYSTEM (amber)
Turning the key to the MAR-ON position the
warning light switches on, but it should switch off
after a few seconds. If the warning light does not go
off or stays on together with the LED on the ASR
button when travelling, contact a Fiat Dealership.
On some versions the display shows the dedicated
message. Flashing of the warning light while driving
indicates the intervention of the ESP system.

Check tyre pressure on pressure gauge F fig. 154
with compressor off to obtain a more precise
reading;❒if after 5 minutes it is still impossible to reach at
least 1.5 bar, disengage the compressor from the
valve and power socket, then move the car
forwards by approx. 10 metres in order to
distribute the sealing fluid inside the tyre evenly,
then repeat the inflation operation;
❒if after this operation it is still impossible after 5
minutes to reach at least 1.8 bar, do not start
driving since the tyre is excessively damaged and
the quick tyre repair kit cannot guarantee proper
hold, contact a Fiat Dealership;
❒if reaching the tyre pressure specified in
paragraph “Inflation pressure” in chapter
“Technical Data”, start driving immediately;
❒after having driven for about 10 minutes, stop
and recheck the tyre pressure; remember to
apply the handbrake;
❒if, on the other hand, the pressure is at least 1.8
bar, restore the correct pressure (with the
engine running and the handbrake applied) and
resume driving;
❒drive with the utmost care to the nearest Fiat

ENGINE OIL
Engine oil level check fig. 203-fig. 204-fig. 205
fig. 206
Check the oil level a few minutes (about five) after
the engine has stopped, with the vehicle parked
on level ground.
Take out engine oil dipstick A, clean it and then
fully reinsert it, take it out and check that the level
is between the MIN and MAX marks on the
dipstick.
The range between the MIN and MAX marks
corresponds to approximately 1 litre of oil.
Topping up the engine oil
If the level of the oil is close to or below the MIN
mark, add oil via the filler fitting B until the MAX
mark is reached.IMPORTANT If the engine oil level after the check
is over the MAX level, go to a Fiat Dealership to
have the correct level restored.
