DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER (DPF)
(for versions/markets, where provided)
The Diesel Particulate Filter is a mechanical filter,
integral with the exhaust system, that physically
traps particulates present in the exhaust gases of
diesel engines. The diesel particulate filter has been
adopted to eliminate almost all particulates in
compliance with current / future legal regulations.
During normal use of the vehicle, the engine
control unit records a set of data (e.g.: travel time,
type of route, temperatures, etc.) and it will then
calculate how much particulate has been trapped by
the filter.
Since this filter physically traps particulate, it should
be regenerated (cleaned) at regular intervals by
burning the carbon particles. The regeneration
procedure is controlled automatically by the engine
management control unit according to the filter
conditions and vehicle use conditions. There may
be a limited increase in the engine speed during the
regeneration, a limited increase in fumes and high
temperatures at the exhaust. These are not faults;
they do not impair vehicle performance or damage
the environment.Particulate filter clogged

panel (along with the message on the display)

(*) Regardless of the distance covered, the timing drive belt must be changed every 4 years for particularly demanding use (cold
climates, town driving, long periods of idling) or at least every 5 years
(#) On the 1.4 T-Jet and 1.4 Turbo MultiAir versions the following are extremely important to ensure correct operation and prevent
serious damage to the engine: only use spark plugs specially tested for T-Jet and MultiAir engines (see paragraph "Engine") of the
same mark and type; strictly comply with the Scheduled Servicing Plan; you are advised to contact a Fiat Dealership
(°**) If the vehicle is mainly used for town driving or has an annual mileage of less than 10,000 km, the engine oil and engine oil filter
should be changed every 12 months.

WARNING
Brake fluid is poisonous and highly
corrosive. If contact accidentally occurs,
immediately wash the affected areas with
water and a neutral detergent , and then rinse
thoroughly with water. Call a doctor
immediately if swallowed.
WARNING
The symbol
on the container
indicates a synthetic brake fluid, which
is different from a mineral fluid. Using a
mineral-type fluid will damage the special
rubber seals of the braking system beyond
repair.
