SISTEMA ESP
(Electronic Stability Program)
(dove previsto)
È un sistema di controllo della stabilità della vettura,
che aiuta a mantenere il controllo direzionale in caso
di perdita di aderenza dei pneumatici.
L’azione del sistema ESP risulta quindi particolarmente
utile quando cambiano le condizioni di aderenza del
fondo stradale.
INTERVENTO DEL SISTEMA
È segnalato dal lampeggio della spia ásul quadro
strumenti, per informare il guidatore che la vettura è
in condizioni critiche di stabilità ed aderenza.INSERIMENTO DEL SISTEMA
Il sistema ESP si inserisce automaticamente
all’avviamento della vettura e non può essere
disinserito.
SEGNALAZIONI DI ANOMALIE
In caso di eventuale anomalia il sistema ESP si
disinserisce automaticamente e sul quadro strumenti si
accende a luce fissa la spia á, unitamente al messaggio
visualizzato dal display multifunzionale riconfigurabile.
In tal caso rivolgersi, appena possibile, alla Rete
Assistenziale Fiat.
Le prestazioni del sistema ESP non devono indurre il conducente a correre rischi
inutili e non giustificati. La condotta di guida dev’essere sempre adeguata alle
condizioni del fondo stradale, alla visibilità ed al traffico. La responsabilità per la
sicurezza stradale spetta sempre e comunque al conducente.ATTENZIONE

SISTEMA HILL HOLDER (dove previsto)
È parte integrante del sistema ESP ed agevola la
partenza in salita.
Si attiva automaticamente con le seguenti condizioni:
In salita: vettura ferma su strada con pendenza
maggiore del 2%, motore acceso, pedale frizione e
freno premuti e cambio in folle o marcia inserita
diversa dalla retromarcia.
In discesa: vettura ferma su strada con pendenza
maggiore del 2%, motore acceso, pedale frizione e
freno premuti e retromarcia inserita.
In fase di spunto la centralina del sistema ESP mantiene
la pressione frenante alle ruote fino al raggiungimento
dalla coppia motore necessaria alla partenza, o
comunque per un tempo massimo di 2 secondi,
consentendo di spostare agevolmente il piede destro
dal pedale del freno all’acceleratore.Trascorsi i 2 secondi, senza che sia stata effettuata la
partenza, il sistema si disattiva automaticamente
rilasciando gradualmente la pressione frenante.
Durante questa fase di rilascio è possibile udire un
tipico rumore di sgancio meccanico dei freni, che
indica l’imminente movimento della vettura.
Segnalazioni di anomalie
Un’eventuale anomalia del sistema è segnalata
dall’accensione della spia *sul quadro strumenti,
(unitamente al messaggio visualizzato dal display
multifunzionale riconfigurabile).
AVVERTENZA Il sistema Hill Holder non è un freno di
stazionamento, pertanto non abbandonare la vettura
senza aver azionato il freno a mano, spento il motore
ed inserito la prima marcia.
ATTENZIONEDurante l’eventuale utilizzo del ruotino di scorta il sistema ESP continua a
funzionare. Tenere comunque presente che il ruotino di scorta, avendo dimensioni
inferiori rispetto al normale pneumatico presenta una minore aderenza rispetto
agli altri pneumatici della vettura.
ATTENZIONEPer il corretto funzionamento del sistema ESP è indispensabile che i pneumatici
siano della stessa marca e dello stesso tipo su tutte le ruote, in perfette condizioni
e soprattutto del tipo, marca e dimensioni prescritte.

SISTEMA ASR (Antislip Regulation)
È parte integrante del sistema ESP e controlla la
vettura ed interviene automaticamente in caso di
slittamento di una od entrambe le ruote motrici.
In funzione delle condizioni di slittamento, vengono
attivati due differenti sistemi di controllo:
❒se lo slittamento interessa entrambe le ruote
motrici, l’ASR interviene riducendo la potenza
trasmessa dal motore;
❒se lo slittamento riguarda solo una delle ruote
motrici, l’ASR interviene frenando automaticamente
la ruota che slitta. L’azione del sistema ASR risulta particolarmente utile
nelle seguenti condizioni:
❒slittamento in curva della ruota interna, dovuto alle
variazioni dinamiche del carico o all’eccessiva
accelerazione;
❒eccessiva potenza trasmessa alle ruote, anche in
relazione alle condizioni del fondo stradale;
❒accelerazione su fondi sdrucciolevoli, innevati o
ghiacciati;
❒perdita di aderenza su fondo bagnato (aquaplaning).
SPIE E MESSAGGI
AVARIA SISTEMA ESP (dove previsto) -
SISTEMA NON DISPONIBILE
Ruotando la chiave in posizione MAR, la spia sul
quadrante si accende, ma deve spegnersi dopo alcuni
secondi.
Se la spia non si spegne, o se rimane accesa durante
la marcia (su alcune versioni unitamente al
messaggio visualizzato dal display) assieme al led sul
pulsante ASR, rivolgersi alla Rete Assistenziale Fiat.
Il lampeggio della spia durante la marcia indica
l’intervento del sistema ESP.

Avaria Hill Holder - Sistema non disponibile
Ruotando la chiave in posizione MAR, la spia sul
quadrante si accende, ma deve spegnersi dopo alcuni
secondi. L’avaria Hill Holder/sistema non disponibile
sono segnalati dall’accensione della spia *sul
quadrante (su alcune versioni unitamente al
messaggio visualizzato dal display). In questo caso
rivolgersi il più presto possibile alla Rete
Assistenziale Fiat.

ASR - Sistema Antislittamento Ruote
I messaggi visualizzati dal display appaiono
(su alcune versioni) quando viene inserita/disinserita
manualmente la funzione ASR.
Il disinserimento dell'ASR è inoltre evidenziato
dall'accensione del led sul pulsante ASR.

INSERIMENTO/ DISINSERIMENTO DEL SISTEMA
L’ASR si inserisce automaticamente ad ogni avviamento del motore.
Durante la marcia è possibile disinserire e successivamente reinserire
l’ASR premendo l’interruttore ASR ubicato sulla plancetta centrale dei
comandi.
L’inserimento del sistema è segnalato dalla visualizzazione di un messaggio
sul display multifunzionale riconfigurabile (dove previsto).
Il disinserimento del sistema è evidenziato dall'accensione del led sul
pulsante ASR e dalla visualizzazione di un messaggio sul display
multifunzionale riconfigurabile (dove previsto). Disinserendo l'ASR
durante la marcia, al successivo avviamento questi si reinserirà
automaticamente.
Viaggiando su fondo innevato, con le catene da neve montate, può essere
utile disinserire l’ASR: in queste condizioni infatti lo slittamento delle
ruote motrici in fase di spunto permette di ottenere una maggiore
trazione.
ATTENZIONELe prestazioni del sistema non devono indurre il conducente a correre rischi inutili
e non giustificati. La condotta di guida dev’essere sempre adeguata alle condizioni
del fondo stradale, alla visibilità ed al traffico. La responsabilità per la sicurezza
stradale spetta sempre e comunque al conducente.

ESP SYSTEM

The ESP system is an electronic system controlling the
car stability in the event of tyre grip loss.
The ESP system is therefore particularly useful when
grip conditions of the road surfaces change.
ESP SYSTEM INTERVENTION
It is indicated by the blinking of the warning light áon
the instrument panel, to inform the driver that the car
is in critical stability and grip conditions.The performance of the system, in terms of active
safety should not induce the driver to take pointless
and unnecessary risks. The style of driving must in any
case always be adapted to the conditions of the road
surface, visibility and traffic. Road safety is always the
driver’s responsibility.
ESP SYSTEM OPERATION
The ESP system is automatically inserted when the car
is started and cannot be deactivated.
FAILURE WARNINGS
In the event of failure, the ESP system is automatically
disconnected and the warning light áwill come on
with fixed light on the instrument panel together with
the message on the reconfigurable multifunction
display. In this case contact a Fiat Dealership as soon
as possible.
The performance of the system, in terms of active safety should not induce the
driver to take pointless and unnecessary risks. The style of driving must in any case
always be adapted to the conditions of the road surface, visibility and traffic. Road
safety is always the driver’s responsibility.WARNING

HILL HOLDER SYSTEM
(where provided)
It is an integral part of the ESP system and facilitates
starting on an uphill slope.
It is automatically activated in the following conditions:
Uphill: vehicle stationary on a road with gradient
above 2%, engine running, clutch and brake pedals
pressed and gearbox in neutral position or gear
engaged (reverse excluded).
Downhill: stationary on a road with gradient above 2%,
engine running, clutch and brake pedals pressed and
reverse engaged.
During pickup the ESP system control unit maintains
the wheel braking pressure until the engine torque
required for start up is reached, or anyway for a
maximum of 2 seconds, so that the right foot can be
moved easily from the brake pedal to the accelerator
pedal.After 2 seconds and without starting the car, the
system automatically deactivates gradually releasing the
braking pressure. During this phase it is possible to
hear the typical brake mechanical disengaging noise
which indicates the car is about to move off.
FAILURE WARNINGS
In the event of failure, the instrument cluster warning
light *will come on together with the message on
the reconfigurable multifunction display.
IMPORTANT The Hill Holder system is not a parking
brake therefore, never leave the car without engaging
the parking brake, the first gear and turning the engine
off.
WARNINGFor correct operation of the ESP system, the tyres must absolutely be of the same
brand and type on all wheels, in perfect conditions and, above all, of the type,
brand and size specified.
WARNINGDuring the use of the spare wheel, the ESP system carries on working. However,
you must remind that the spare wheel presents dimensions smaller than the
standard tyre and therefore the grip is reduced as to the other car tyres.

WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES
ESP SYSTEM FAILURE (where provided) -
SYSTEM NOT AVAILABLE
Turning the ignition key to MAR, the warning light
on the dial comes on but shall go off after few
seconds.
If the warning light does not go off or stays on when
travelling (on certain versions together with the
message on the display) and with led on ASR button,
contact Fiat Dealership.
Warning light flashing when driving indicates that the
ESP system is active.

ASR SYSTEM (Antislip Regulation)
It’s a function of ESP system and controls the vehicle
drive and cuts in automatically every time one or both
driving wheels slip.
In slipping conditions, two different control systems
are activated:
❒if the slipping involves both the driving wheels, the
ASR function intervenes reducing the power
transmitted by the engine;
❒if the slipping involves only one driving wheel, the
ASR system cuts in automatically braking the wheel
that is slipping. The action of the ASR is particularly helpful in the
following circumstances:
❒ slipping of the inner wheel due to the effect of
dynamic load changes or excessive acceleration;
❒ too much power transmitted to the wheels also in
relation to the conditions of the road surface;
❒ acceleration on slippery, snowy or frozen surfaces;
❒in the case of loss of grip on a wet surface
(aquaplaning).
