SNOW CHAINS
Use of snow chains should be in compliance with local
regulations.
Snow chains should only be applied to the driving
wheels (front wheels). We recommend using
Lineaccessori Fiat snow chains.
Check the tension of the chains after driving some ten
metres.IMPORTANT Snow chains cannot be fitted to the
space-saver spare wheel. So, if a front (drive) wheel is
punctured and chains are needed, a rear wheel should
be fitted to the front of the vehicle and the spare
wheel should be fitted to the rear. This way with two
normal drive wheels, snow chains can be fitted to
them to solve an emergency.
IMPORTANT Tyres 205/50 R16 87V cannot be fitted
with snow chains.

Type of snow chains to be used
Snow chains with standard size
with max protrusion beyond the tyre profile of 12 mm.
Keep your speed down when snow chains are fitted. Do not exceed 50 km/h. Avoid potholes,
steps and pavements and avoid also to drive for long distances on roads not covered with
snow to prevent damaging the car and the roadbed.
Refer to the above mentioned table for information on the wheels where snow chains can be fitted.
Follow the prescriptions.

WARNINGThe space-saver spare wheel is specific to the vehicle: do not use it on other
models and do not use spare wheels designed for other models on your car. The
space-saver spare wheel must only be used in the event of an emergency, and then
only for as little as possible and at no more than 80 km/h. The space-saver spare
wheel is fitted with an orange sticker giving the main instructions for its use and
limitations. The sticker must never be removed or covered. Do not fit the hub cap
to the spare wheel. The sticker gives the following information in four languages:

WARNINGThe jack should only be used to change a wheel on the car for which it was
designed. It should not be put to other uses or employed to raise other models of
cars. Under no circumstances should it be used when carrying out repairs under the
car. An incorrectly positioned jack may cause the car to fall. Do not use the jack to
lift loads exceeding that indicated on the label attached to the jack itself. Do not
fit snow chains on a space-saver spare wheel. If a front wheel (drive wheel) is
punctured and you require snow chains to proceed, take a standard wheel from
the rear axle and fit the space-saver spare wheel in its place. Having fitted two
standard wheels on the front drive axle you can use snow chains, thus solving the
emergency situation.
WARNINGWhen driving with a space-saver spare wheel fitted, the driving performance of
your car may change. Avoid accelerating or braking suddenly, steering abruptly or
fast cornering. The lifespan of a space-saver spare wheel is approximately 3000
km, after which it will need to be replaced with another spare wheel of the same
type. Never fit a standard tyre on the space-saver spare wheel rim. Have the wheel
replaced and refitted as soon as possible. Never use two or more spare wheels at
the same time. Do not lubricate the bolt threads before fitting them back: they
could come loose.
WARNINGFasten the wheel cap correctly to prevent the wheel from coming free in motion.
Never tamper with the inflation valve. Never place tools between the rim and tyre.
Check the tyre and space-saver spare wheel pressure regularly. The tyre inflation
pressure is shown in the “Technical specifications” chapter.

Please note:
❒the jack cannot be repaired. If it breaks it must be replaced with a
new jack;
❒no tool other than its cranking device may be fitted on the jack.
To change a wheel proceed as follows:
❒Stop the car in a position that is not dangerous for oncoming traffic
where you can change the wheel safely. The ground should be flat and
adequately firm;
❒Turn the engine off and pull up the handbrake;
❒Engage first gear or reverse;
❒Lift the luggage compartment panel mat;
❒Loosen the fastener (A);
❒Take the tool bag (B) and go to the wheel to be replaced;
❒Take the space-saver spare wheel (C);
❒If the car is fitted with alloy rims, remove the wheel hub with the
screwdriver provided levering in the groove (E), as shown in the
figure;

❒Warn anybody nearby that the car is about to be
lifted. They must stay clear and not touch the
vehicle until it is back on the ground;
❒Fit the handle (L) to operate the jack and lift the
car until the wheel to be changed is several
centimetres off the ground;

after unloosing the three fastening bolts and finally
unloose the fourth bolt and extract the wheel.

❒Fit the spare wheel making the holes (M) coincide with the respective
centring pins (N);
❒Using the wrench provided, fully tighten the four fastening bolts;
❒Turn the jack handle (L) to lower the car and remove the jack;
❒Use the wrench provided to fasten the bolts completely in a criss-
cross fashion as shown in the figure.
REFITTING THE STANDARD WHEEL
Following the procedure described previously, raise the car and remove
the spare wheel.
For versions with steel rim
Proceed as follows:
❒Make sure the contact surfaces between standard wheel and hub are
clean so that the fastening bolts will not come loose;
❒Fit the standard wheel by inserting the first bolt in the hole closest to
the inflation valve;
❒Fit the wheel cap making the groove (on the wheel cap) coincide with
the inflation valve and fit the other three bolts;
❒Using the wrench provided, tighten the fastening bolts;
❒Lower the car and remove the jack;
❒Using the wrench provided, fully tighten the bolts in the sequence
shown previously for the spare wheel;
IMPORTANT Incorrect fitting may cause the wheel cap to come off
when the car is travelling.

For versions with alloy rims
❒Make sure that hub contact surfaces are clean;
❒Refit the standard wheel fitting it on the pins, refit the fastening bolts
and tighten them using the wrench provided;
❒Lower the car and remove the jack;
❒Using the wrench provided, tighten the bolts in the sequence shown
previously for the space-saver spare wheel (see figure);
❒Refit the snap-fitted wheel hub cap.
When you have finished
❒Stow the spare wheel (C) in the space provided in the boot;
❒Insert the jack partially open in its container (B) forcing it lightly to
prevent it from vibrating when travelling;
❒Put the tools back into their places in the container;
❒Stow the container complete with tools on the spare wheel and
secure everything with the clamping device (A);
❒Correctly re-position the stiff cover.

JACKING THE CAR
If the car is to be lifted, go to a Fiat Dealership which is equipped with
the arm hoist or workshop lift.
Jack up the car only by positioning the jack arms or the shop jack in the
points shown in the figures.
TOWING THE CAR
The car is delivered with two tow rings: the short tow ring shall be fitted
at the front and the long one at the back.
Tow rings are arranged in tool container.
Side figures show how rear (long) ring was arranged, within spare wheel
and in the container of kit Fix & Go automatic, respectively.

ANNUAL INSPECTION
SCHEDULE
For cars with an annual mileage of below 20,000 km
(for example about 15,000 km) the following yearly
inspection programme is provided:
❒check tyre conditions/wear and adjust pressure if
required (including the spare wheel);
❒check lighting system operation (headlights,
direction indicators, hazard lights, boot lights,
passenger compartment lights, warning lights, etc.);
❒check windscreen/washer
(nozzles/and blade position regulation)
❒check front disk brake pad conditions and wear;
❒sight inspect the conditions of: engine, gearbox,
transmission, pipes and hoses (exhaust - fuel -
brakes), rubber parts (boots, sleeves, bushes, etc;
❒check for bonnet and boot lock cleanness, lever
cleanness and lubrication;
❒check battery charge;
❒visual check on various drive belt conditions;
❒top up fluid levels (engine coolant, brakes,
windscreen washer, battery, etc.);
❒change engine oil;
❒change engine oil filter;
❒replace pollen filter (where provided).
ADDITIONAL CHECKS
Every 1,000 km or before long journeys, check and top
up if required:
❒engine coolant fluid level;
❒brake fluid level;
❒windscreen washer fluid level;
❒tyre pressure and conditions.
Every 3,000 km check and top up if required: engine
oil level.
You are recommended to use FL Selenia products,
designed and produced specifically for Fiat cars (see
table “Capacities” in section “Technical
specifications”).

WHEELS AND TYRES
Check the pressure of each tyre, including the spare, every two weeks
and before long journeys. The pressure should be checked with the tyre
rested and cold.
For the correct tyre inflation pressure, see “Wheels” in “Technical
specifications” section.
Incorrect pressure causes abnormal tyre wear:
(A): normal pressure: tread evenly worn.
(B): low pressure: tread particularly worn at the edges.
(C): high pressure: tread particularly worn in the centre.
Tyres must be replaced when the tread wears down to 1.6 mm. In any
case, comply with the laws in the country where the car is being driven.
IMPORTANT NOTES
❒As far as possible, avoid sharp braking and screech starts, etc. Be
careful not to hit the kerb, potholes or other obstacles hard. Driving
for long stretches over bumpy roads can damage the tyres;
❒Periodically check that the tyres have no cuts in the side wall,
abnormal swelling or irregular tyre wear. If any of these occur, have
the car seen to at a Fiat Dealership;
