The warning light switches on (on
some versions together with a
dedicated message on the display) as
follows:
– flashing when the system is
activated;
– flashing more rapidly to indicate
that the speed of the vehicle is
approaching 20 km/h;
– constantly if there is a fault with

INDICATOR
(green - intermittent)
The warning light switches on when
the direction indicator control stalk
is moved upwards or, together with
the left indicator, when the hazard
warning light button is pressed.

IMPORTANT With the air
distribution knob at -air also
comes out of the central and side
diffusers. To optimise demisting
/defrosting (also on side windows)
stop the air flow at the central
diffusers (specific control knob
turned down to
Op) and open the
side diffusers (specific control knob
turned up to
¥).
After demisting, operate the
controls to maintain optimum
visibility conditions.
EXTERIOR LIGHTS
The left stalk operates most of the
external lights.
The ignition key has to be at MAR
for the exterior lights to switch on.
The instrument panel and the
various dashboard controls will
switch on with the external lights.

DIRECTION

Down = left indicator.
The
¥or Îwarning light flashes on
the instrument panel.
The direction indicators are
switched off automatically when the
steering wheel is straightened.
If you want the indicator to flash
briefly to show that you are about
to change lane, turning the wheel
only slightly, move the stalk up or
down without clicking into position
(unstable position).
When released the stalk will return
to its initial position.“FOLLOW ME
HOME” DEVICE fig. 62
This device lights up the space in
front of the vehicle for a short time.
Activation
With ignition key at STOP or
removed, pull the stalk towards the
steering wheel and move it within
2 minutes after the engine stops.
Each time the stalk is moved, the
lights stay on for a further 30
seconds up to a maximum of 210
seconds; then the lights are switched
off automatically.
The display shows the time set.Deactivation
Pull the lever towards the steering
wheel for more than 2 seconds or
turn the key to MAR in the ignition
switch.

Do not use the
windscreen wipers to
remove layers of snow
or ice from the windscreen. In
these conditions, the windscreen
wipers may be submitted to
excessive effort resulting in the
motor protection cutting in and
wiper operation being inhibited
for a few seconds. If operation is
not subsequently restored,
contact a Fiat Dealership.

CONTROLS
HAZARD WARNING
LIGHTS fig. 64
They are turned on by pressing
switch A, regardless of the position
of the ignition key.
With the device activated, the
switch flashes and the warning
lights flash on the instrument panel
at the same time.
To switch off, press the switch again.The use of hazard
warning lights is
governed by the highway code
of the country you are in.
Drivers must therefore comply
with the regulations that the
code contains.

Rear fog lights
Switch A: to activate these lights, the
dipped headlights and/or front fog
lights must be switched on. The rear
fog lights are deactivated when the
ignition key is turned to STOP.
If they are required when the vehicle
is next started, they must be
reactivated.
Fog lights
Switch B: to activate these lights, the
external lights must be switched on
(not the main beam headlights). The
front fog lights are deactivated when
the ignition key is turned to STOP.
If they are required when the vehicle
is next started, they must be
reactivated.Driving lights
Switch C. To activate these lights,
the mean beam headlights must be
switched on. The driving lights are
deactivated when the ignition key is
turned to STOP.
If they are required when the vehicle
is next started, they must be
reactivated.

– for a period of 7 seconds when
one of the doors is closed
(within 3 minutes).
The timed period is interrupted if
the ignition is turned to MAR.
Exit timing
After removing the key from the
ignition switch, the roof lights switch
on as follows:
– for a period of 3 minutes within 2
minutes of the engine stopping;
– for a period of 3 minutes when
one of the doors is opened;
– for a period of 7 seconds when
one of the doors is closed (within
3 minutes).
Timing will stop automatically when
the doors are locked.REAR ROOF LIGHT fig. 71

The rear roof light is switched on
using the lens, as follows:
pressed to 1: off;
normal position: switches on when a
door is opened;
pressed to 2: always on.POWER SOCKET fig.72
This is present only on certain
versions and operates when the
ignition key is turned to MAR.
To use, lift cap A.
It can be used with devices /
accessories with a maximum power
of 180 W.
Before connecting any
electrical accessories,
contact a Fiat Dealership to
check whether this is possible.

If you wish to carry a
reserve of fuel in a can,
observe the legal restrictions
and only use a can that is type-
approved and properly secured
to the load anchorage
eyebolts. However, the risk of
fire in the event of a collision is
still increased.
WARNINGIMPORTANT
1) The flap can bear stable loads
(vehicle stationary) of up to 300
kg; using it to support greater
loads damages the hinges.
2) The load must be secured firmly
using cords and the appropriate
rings, to prevent it from sliding
lengthways, moving from side to
side or bouncing (see paragraph
“Loading advice” in the “Correct
use of the vehicle” section).
3) When transporting a heavy load
at night, you are advised to check
and adjust the beam of the dipped
headlights as appropriate.
Do not open the flap
completely when a tow
hook is fitted; it may be
damaged.
LOAD COMPARTMENT
COVER CANVAS
Some versions come with a canvas
to protect objects which are
transported in the load
compartment.
To wind it up:
– turn the mechanical stop
A-fig. 84 in the direction of the
arrow, releasing locking device B;
– open the closing devices
A-fig. 85 then loosen the straps B;
– release the straps from the
anchoring devices

When the ABS
intervenes and you feel
the brake pedal pulsating, do
not raise your foot, but keep it
pressed; in doing so you will
stop in the shortest amount of
space possible depending on
the current road conditions.
WARNING
If the ABS system
intervenes, this
indicates that the traction of
the tyres on the road is nearing
its limit. You must slow down
to a speed compatible with the
available traction.
WARNING
The ABS gets the most
from the available grip,
but it cannot improve it; you
should therefore take every
care when driving on slippery
surfaces and not take
unnecessary risks.
WARNING
FAULT INDICATIONS
ABS failure
This is indicated by the >warning
light switching on in the instrument
panel (together with a message on
the display on some versions) (see
“Warning lights and messages”
section).
In this case, the braking system will
still be effective, although without
the extra capacity offered by the
ABS system. Drive carefully to the
nearest Fiat Dealership to have the
system checked. EBD failure
This is indicated by the >and x
warning lights switching on in the
instrument panel (together with a
message on the display on some
versions) (see “Warning lights and
messages” section).
In this case, the rear wheels may
suddenly lock and the vehicle may
swerve when braking sharply.
Therefore, drive very cautiously to
the nearest Fiat Dealership to have
the system checked.
If only the xwarning
light switches on in the
instrument panel (together
with a message on the display
on some versions), stop the
vehicle immediately and
contact the nearest Fiat
Dealership. Leakage of
hydraulic fluid from the
braking system will
compromise the operation of
the braking system, whether it
is of the conventional type or
with ABS.

If the key is inserted
and turned to MAR
when no faults are indicated by
the warning lights, airbags may
be deployed if another vehicle
crashes into the vehicle even if
the engine is not running and
the vehicle is stationary. For
this reason, children must
never sit on the front seat,
even if the vehicle is stationary.
On the other hand, if the key is
inserted in STOP position,
none of the safety devices
(airbags or pretensioners) will
be deployed in the event of
impact. Non-deployment of
these devices does not indicate
a system malfunction.
WARNING
For versions/markets
where provided, when
the ignition key is turned to
MAR, the “yellow” Fwarning
light switches on for a few
seconds. If the passenger
airbag is active, the “yellow”
warning light switches off after
a few seconds. If the passenger
airbag is NOT active, the
“yellow” warning light
stays on.
WARNING
If the “red” ûwarning
light does not switch on
for a few seconds when the key
is turned to MAR, there may be
a fault with the “red” warning
light. In this case, the “yellow”
warning light starts to flash
after a few seconds and, for
versions/markets where
provided, the explosive charge
of the passenger airbag is
deactivated.
WARNING
The expiry date of the
explosive charge is
shown on a specific label
contained in the glove box;
contact a Fiat Dealership to
have it replaced when this
expiry date approaches.
WARNING
In the event of “yellow”
Fwarning light
failure, the “red”
ûwarning
light switches on and, for
versions/markets where
provided, the explosive charge
of the passenger airbag is
deactivated.

PROTECTING THE
ENVIRONMENT
Environmental protection has
governed every stage in the design
and production of the Fiat Strada.
This has resulted in the use of
materials and the calibration of
devices which reduce or drastically
limit negative environmental impact.
The following devices are used for
reducing diesel engine emissions:
– oxidising catalytic converter;
– exhaust gas recirculation system
(E.G.R.).
– particulate filter (DPF). Since this filter physically traps
particulate, it should be regenerated
(cleaned) at regular intervals by
burning carbon particles. The
regeneration procedure is managed
automatically by the engine
management control unit according
to the filter conditions and vehicle
use conditions.
During regeneration, the following
may occur: a limited increase in the
engine speed, activation of the fan, a
limited increase in fumes and high
temperatures at the exhaust. These
are not faults; they do not impair
vehicle performance or damage the
environment. If the dedicated
message is displayed, refer to
Warning lights and messages in this
section. DIESEL PARTICULATE
FILTER (DPF)
The Diesel Particulate Filter is a
mechanical filter, integral with the
exhaust system, that physically traps
particulates present in the exhaust
gases of diesel engines.
The diesel particulate filter has been
adopted to eliminate almost all
particulates in compliance with
current/future legal regulations.
During normal use of the vehicle,
the engine management control unit
records a set of data (travel time,
type of route, temperatures, etc.)
and it will then calculate how much
particulate has been trapped by the
filter.
