Always handle discs by their edges only.Clean the disc with an approved CDcleaner only. Wipe it from the center ofthe disc toward the edge. Do not clean ina circular motion.
Do not expose discs to direct sunlight orheat sources for extended periods.
MP3 and WMA Track and FolderStructure
Audio systems capable of recognizing andplaying MP3 and WMA individual tracksand folder structures work as follows:
•There are two different modes for MP3and WMA disc playback: MP3 andWMA track mode (system default) andMP3 and WMA folder mode.
•MP3 and WMA track mode ignores anyfolder structure on the MP3 and WMAdisc. The player numbers each MP3and WMA track on the disc (noted bythe MP3 or WMA file extension) fromT001 to a maximum of T255. Themaximum number of playable MP3 andWMA files may be less depending onthe structure of the CD and exactmodel of radio present.
•MP3 and WMA folder mode representsa folder structure consisting of onelevel of folders. The CD player numbersall MP3 and WMA tracks on the disc(noted by the MP3 or WMA fileextension) and all folders containingMP3 and WMA files, from F001 (folder)T001 (track) to F253 T255.
•Creating discs with only one level offolders helps with navigation throughthe disc files.
If you are burning your own MP3 and WMAdiscs, it is important to understand howthe system reads the structures you create.While various files may be present (fileswith extensions other than MP3 andWMA), only files with the MP3 and WMA
extension are played; other files areignored by the system. This enables you touse the same MP3 and WMA disc for avariety of tasks on your work computer,home computer and your in-vehiclesystem.
In track mode, the system displays andplays the structure as if it were only onelevel deep (all MP3 and WMA files play,regardless of being in a specific folder). Infolder mode, the system only plays theMP3 and WMA files in the current folder.

Accessing the Clock Settings
Press and release to display theclock.
To set the time, press and hold until thehours start to flash. Use the center arrowcontrols to change the hours, then repeatto set the minutes. Press again to exit clockmode.

Press and release the buttons toaccess the next and previousfolders on an MP3 disc.
Accessing the Menu
Press and release to accessdifferent audio system features.
•To set the clock, press MENU until SETHOURS or SET MINUTES appearsand use the up and down arrow toadjust the time.
•To set the strongest stations on theradio frequency, press MENU untilAUTOSET appears. This does notoverride your original presets.
•RBDS displays text transmitted bycertain radio stations and searchesfor music categories.
•When RBDS ON/OFF appears, pressSEEK to switch on RBDS to search formusic categories. Press the up anddown arrow to scroll throughcategories, then press SEEK to beginthe search.
•SPEEDVOL allows you to adjustradio volume to compensate fornoise levels when vehicle speedincreases.
•Track/Folder is only available on MP3files when in CD mode. In track mode,press SEEK to scroll through all thetracks on the disc. In folder mode, pressSEEK to scroll through all the trackswithin the selected folder. PressFOLDER to access other folders.
•COMPRESS is only available in CDand MP3 modes. Switching oncompression brings the soft andloud passages together for a moreconsistent listening level.
•To switch compression on and off,press SEEK and the up and downarrow.

Press and release to access thephone features of the SYNCsystem.

Changing Radio Stations
In radio mode, press and release eitherbutton to search through the radiofrequency band.
In satellite radio mode, press and releaseto find the previous or next availablesatellite radio station.
Ejecting the CD
Press and release to eject a CD.
Fast Forwarding the Media
Press and release to fast forwarda CD track or MP3 file.
Rewinding the Media
Press and release to rewind a CDtrack or MP3 file.
Inserting a CD
Insert a CD into the CD slot.
Muting the Audio
Press and release to mute theplaying audio.
Playing or Pausing Media
Press and release to either playor pause the audio.
Scanning the Audio
In radio, CD and MP3 modes, press andhold to hear a brief sampling of radiostations, CD tracks or MP3 files. In CD andMP3 modes, press and release to displaytrack title, artist name and disc title. In textmode, the display may require additionaltext to show. When the < / > indicator ison, press TEXT and then press SEEK toview the additional display text.
Selecting a Frequency Band
Press and release to select afrequency band.

Using Seek, Fast Forward andReverse
In radio mode, select a frequency band andpress and release either button. Thesystem stops at the first station it finds inthat direction.
In CD mode, press and release to selectthe next or previous track. Press and holdto move quickly forward or backwardthrough the current track.
In satellite radio mode, press and releaseto select the next or previous satellite radiostation. If you select a specific category(such as jazz, rock or news), press to findthe next or previous station in the categoryyou select.
DIGITAL RADIO (IF EQUIPPED)
Note:HD Radio broadcasts are notavailable in all markets.
HD Radio technology is the digitalevolution of analog AM/FM radio. Yoursystem has a special receiver that allowsit to receive digital broadcasts (whereavailable) in addition to the analogbroadcasts, it already receives. Digitalbroadcasts provide a better sound qualitythan analog broadcasts with free,crystal-clear audio and no static ordistortion. For more information, and aguide to available stations andprogramming, please visitwww.hdradio.com.
When HD Radio is on and you tune to astation broadcasting HD Radio technology,you may notice the HD Radio logo on yourscreen. When this logo is available, youmay also see Title and Artist fieldson-screen.
The multicast indicator appears in FMmode (only) if the current station isbroadcasting multiple digital broadcasts.The highlighted numbers signify availabledigital channels where new or differentcontent is available. HD1 signifies the mainprogramming status and is available inanalog and digital broadcasts. Othermulticast stations (HD2 through HD7) areonly available digitally.
When HD Radio broadcasts are active, youcan access the following functions:
•Scan allows you to hear a briefsampling of all available stations. Thisfeature still works when HD Radioreception is on, although it does notscan for HD2-HD7 channels. You maysee the HD logo appear if the stationhas a digital broadcast.
•Memory presets allow you to save anactive channel as a memory preset.Touch and hold a memory preset slotuntil the sound returns. There is a briefmute while the radio saves the station.Sound returns when finished. Whenswitching to an HD2 or HD3 memorypreset, the sound mutes before thedigital audio plays, because the systemhas to reacquire the digital signal.
Note:As with any saved radio station, youcannot access a station you save if yourvehicle is outside the station’s receptionarea.

Satellite Radio Reception Factors
Potential satellite radio reception issues
For optimal reception performance, keep the antennaclear of snow and ice build-up and keep luggage and othermaterial as far away from the antenna as possible.
Antenna obstructions
Hills, mountains, tall buildings, bridges, tunnels, freewayoverpasses, parking garages, dense tree foliage andthunderstorms can interfere with your reception.
Terrain
When you pass a ground-based broadcast-repeatingtower, a stronger signal may overtake a weaker one andthe audio system may mute.
Station overload
Your display may show ACQUIRING . . . to indicate theinterference and the audio system may mute.Satellite radio signal interfer-ence

You can say any of the voice commands that appear within open and close brackets thatare separated by |. For example, where (cancel | stop | exit) appears you say; cancel orstop or exit.
You must say any of the voice commands that appear outside of open and close brackets.For example, where mobile (apps | applications) appears, you must say mobile followedby either apps or applications.
You do not need to say words that appear within square brackets. For example, for where(USB [stick] | iPOD | MP3 [player]) appears, you can say USB or USB stick.
Note:SYNC Services and Vehicle health report are only available in the United States ofAmerica.
System Interaction and Feedback
The system provides feedback throughaudible tones, prompts, questions andspoken confirmations depending on thesituation and the chosen level ofinteraction (voice settings). You cancustomize the voice recognition system toprovide more or less instruction andfeedback.
The default setting is to a higher level ofinteraction in order to help you learn to usethe system. You can change these settingsat any time.
Adjusting the Interaction Level
Initiate a voice session bypressing the voice button on thesteering wheel controls. SeeVoice Control (page 47).

USING SYNC™ WITH YOUR
PHONE
Hands-free calling is one of the mainfeatures of SYNC. While the systemsupports a variety of features, many aredependent on your cell phone'sfunctionality. At a minimum, most cellphones with Bluetooth wireless technologysupport the following functions:
•Answering an incoming call.
•Ending a call.
•Using privacy mode.
•Dialing a number.
•Redialing.
•Call waiting notification.
•Caller identification.
Other features, such as text messagingusing Bluetooth and automatic phonebookdownload, are cell phone-dependentfeatures. To check your cell phone'scompatibility, see your cell phone's manualand visit www.SYNCMyRide.com,www.SYNCMyRide.ca orwww.syncmaroute.ca.
Pairing Your Cell Phone for theFirst Time
