3.Insert the new battery. Refer to thesymbols inside the transmitter for thecorrect orientation of the battery.Press the battery down to make sureit is fully engaged in the housing.
4.Reinstall the battery housing coveronto the transmitter.
Note: Replacing the battery does not erasethe programmed key from your vehicle. Thetransmitter should operate normally.
Car Finder
Press the button twice withinthree seconds. The horn soundsand the direction indicatorsflash. We recommend you use this methodto locate your vehicle, rather than usingthe panic alarm.
Sounding the Panic Alarm
Press the button to sound thepanic alarm. Press the buttonagain or switch the ignition on toturn it off.
Note:The panic alarm operates regardlessof the ignition position.
REPLACING A LOST KEY OR
REMOTE CONTROL
Replacement keys or remote controls canbe purchased from an authorized dealer.Authorized dealers can program remotecontrols for your vehicle.

LOCKING AND UNLOCKING
You can use the power door lock controlor the remote control to lock and unlockyour vehicle.
Note:Do not use the door latch assemblyto attach any accessory, such as handles orsteps, as this can cause damage to yourvehicle.
Power Door Locks (If Equipped)
The power door lock control is on the driverand front passenger door panels.

Remote Control (If Equipped)
You can use the remote control at any timewhen the ignition is off.
Unlocking the Doors (Two-StageUnlock)
Press the button to unlock thedriver door.
Press the button again within threeseconds to unlock all doors. The directionindicators will flash.
Note:The driver door can be unlocked withthe key if the remote control is notfunctioning.
Note: When you leave your vehicleunattended for several weeks, the remotecontrol turns off. Your vehicle must beunlocked and started. Unlocking andstarting your vehicle once enables theremote control.
Reprogramming the Unlocking Function
Note: When you press the unlock button,either all the doors are unlocked or only thedriver door is unlocked. Pressing the unlockbutton again unlocks all the doors.
You can reprogram the unlocking functionso that only the driver door is unlocked.
Press and hold the unlock and lock buttonson the remote control simultaneously forat least four seconds with the ignition off.The direction indicators flash twice toconfirm the change.
To return to the original unlocking function,repeat the process.
Locking the Doors
Press the button to lock alldoors. The direction indicatorswill flash.
Press the button again within threeseconds to confirm that all the doors areclosed. The doors lock again, the hornsounds and the direction indicators flashif all the doors are closed.

Note:If any door is open, the horn soundstwice and the direction indicators do notflash.
Autolock
The autolock feature locks all the doorswhen:
•All doors are closed.
•The ignition is on.
•You shift into any gear putting yourvehicle in motion.
•The ignition is on, all the doors areclosed and your vehicle has been inmotion at a speed greater than 12 mph(20 km/h).
Autounlock
The autounlock feature unlocks all thedoors when:
•Your vehicle comes to a stop and youswitch the ignition off or to accessory.
•You open the driver door within 10minutes of switching the ignition off orto accessory.
Note:If you electronically lock your vehicleafter you switch the ignition off with thedriver door closed, the doors do notautounlock.
Enabling or Disabling Autolock andAutounlock (If Equipped)
You can enable or disable the autolock andautounlock features independently of eachother.
To enable or disable autolock, do thefollowing:
1.Switch the ignition on.
2.Press the power door unlock controlthree times.
3.Switch the ignition off.
4.Press the power door unlock controlthree times.
5.Switch the ignition on. The hornsounds indicating your vehicle is inprogramming mode.
6.Press the power door unlock controland within five seconds, press thepower door lock control. The hornsounds once if disabled or twice ifenabled.
7.Switch the ignition off. The horn soundsindicating programming is complete.
Note:You can also switch this feature onor off using the information display. SeeInformation Displays (page 65).
To enable or disable autounlock, do thefollowing:
1.Switch the ignition on.
2.Press the power door unlock controlthree times.
3.Switch the ignition off.
4.Press the power door unlock controlthree times.
5.Switch the ignition on. The hornsounds indicating your vehicle is inprogramming mode.
6.Press the power door lock control andwithin five seconds, press the powerdoor unlock control. The horn soundsonce if disabled or twice if enabled.
7.Switch the ignition off. The horn soundsindicating programming is complete.
Note:You can also switch this feature onor off using the information display. SeeInformation Displays (page 65).
Illuminated Entry
The interior lamps and some exteriorlamps illuminate when you unlock thedoors with the remote control.

•Avoid adding particular accessories toyour vehicle (e.g. bug deflectors,rollbars/light bars, running boards, skiracks).
•Avoid driving with the wheels out ofalignment.
BREAKING-IN
You need to break in new tires forapproximately 300 mi (480 km). Duringthis time, your vehicle may exhibit someunusual driving characteristics.
Avoid driving too fast during the first1,000 mi (1,600 km). Vary your speedfrequently and change up through thegears early. Do not labor the engine.
Do not tow during the first 1,000 mi(1,600 km).
DRIVING THROUGH WATER
WARNING: Do not drive throughflowing or deep water as you may losecontrol of your vehicle.
Note:Driving through standing water cancause vehicle damage.
Note:Engine damage can occur if waterenters the air filter.
Before driving through standing water,check the depth. Never drive through waterthat is higher than the bottom of the wheelhubs.
When driving through standing water, drivevery slowly and do not stop your vehicle.Your brake performance and traction maybe limited. After driving through water andas soon as it is safe to do so:
•Lightly press the brake pedal to dry thebrakes and to check that they work.
•Check that the horn works.
•Check that the exterior lights work.
•Turn the steering wheel to check thatthe steering power assist works.
FLOOR MATS
WARNING: Use a floor matdesigned to fit the footwell of yourvehicle that does not obstruct the pedalarea. Failure to follow this instructioncould result in the loss of control of yourvehicle, personal injury or death.
WARNING: Pedals that cannotmove freely can cause loss of vehiclecontrol and increase the risk of seriouspersonal injury.

•To reduce the chances of interferencefrom another vehicle, perform thesystem reset procedure at least 3 ft(1 m) away from another vehicleundergoing the system reset procedureat the same time.
•Do not wait more than two minutesbetween resetting each tire sensor orthe system can time-out and you haveto repeat the entire procedure on allfour wheels.
•A double horn sounds indicating theneed to repeat the procedure.
Performing the System Reset Procedure- Single Rear Wheel
Read the entire procedure beforeattempting.
1.Drive the vehicle above 20 mph(32 km/h) for at least two minutes,then park in a safe location where youcan easily get to all four tires and haveaccess to an air pump.
2.Place the ignition in the off position andkeep the key in the ignition.
3.Cycle the ignition to the on positionwith the engine off.
4.Turn the hazard flashers on then offthree times. You must accomplish thiswithin 10 seconds. If you successfullyenter the reset mode, the horn soundsonce, the system indicator flashes anda message shows in the informationdisplay. If this does not occur, pleasetry again starting at step 2. If afterrepeated attempts to enter the resetmode, the horn does not sound, thesystem indicator does not flash and nomessage shows in the informationdisplay, have the system checked assoon as possible.
5.Train the tire pressure monitoringsystem sensors in the tires using thefollowing system reset sequencestarting with the left front tire in thefollowing clockwise order: Left front -driver side front tire, Right front -passenger side front tire, Right rear -passenger side rear tire, Left rear -driver side rear tire.
6.Remove the valve cap from the valvestem on the left front tire. Decrease theair pressure until the horn sounds.
Note:The single horn tone confirms thatthe sensor identification code has beenlearned by the module for this position. Ifyou hear a double horn, the reset procedurewas unsuccessful, and you must repeat it.
7.Remove the valve cap from the valvestem on the right front tire. Decreasethe air pressure until the horn sounds.
8.Remove the valve cap from the valvestem on the right rear tire. Decrease theair pressure until the horn sounds.
9.Remove the valve cap from the valvestem on the left rear tire. Decrease theair pressure until the horn sounds.Training is complete after the hornsounds for the last tire trained, driverside rear tire, the system indicatorstops flashing, and a message showsin the information display.
10.Turn the ignition off. If you hear twoshort tones, the reset procedure wasunsuccessful and you must repeat it.If you hear two short beeps when theignition is off after repeating theprocedure, have the system checkedas soon as possible
