AUTOMATIC CRASH SHUTOFFPRECAUTIONS
WARNING: If your vehicle has beeninvolved in a crash, have the fuel systemchecked. Failure to follow this instructioncould result in fire, personal injury ordeath.
RE-ENABLING YOUR VEHICLE
1.Switch the ignition off.
2.Attempt to start your vehicle.
3.Switch the ignition off.
4.Attempt to start your vehicle.
Note:If your vehicle does not start after thethird attempt, have your vehicle checked assoon as possible.
TRANSPORTING THE VEHICLE
If you need to tow your vehicle, contact aprofessional towing service or yourroadside assistance service provider.
Your manufacturer produces a towingmanual for all authorized tow truckoperators. Have your tow truck operatorrefer to this manual for proper hook-upand towing procedures.
We recommend the use of a wheel lift anddollies or flatbed equipment to tow yourvehicle. Vehicle damage could occur iftowed incorrectly, or by any other means.
Front-wheel and rear-wheel drive vehiclesmust have their designated drive wheelsoff the ground regardless of towingdirection. Use tow dollies to preventdamage to the transmission.

All-wheel or four-wheel drive vehiclesrequire that all wheels be off the groundusing a wheel lift and dollies or flatbedequipment. This prevents damage to thetransmission and drive system.
Note:You need to switch on the ignition tounlock the steering.
Note:Make sure you check the steeringcolumn before towing. It could lock if thebattery is dead.

TOWING YOUR VEHICLE
PRECAUTIONS
Use the following guidelines when towingyour vehicle. Failure to follow thisinstruction could result in vehicle damagenot covered by the vehicle warranty.
Note:Make sure you properly secure yourvehicle to the tow vehicle.
Note:If you are unsure of the vehicle’sconfiguration, contact an authorized dealer.
RECREATIONALLY TOWING
YOUR VEHICLE - 2.0L
ECOBOOST™, AWD
You cannot recreational tow your vehiclewith all wheels on the ground becausevehicle or transmission damage couldoccur. You must recreational tow yourvehicle with all four wheels off the ground,such as when using a car-hauling trailer.Otherwise, you cannot recreational towyour vehicle.
RECREATIONALLY TOWING
YOUR VEHICLE - 2.0L
ECOBOOST™, FWD
You cannot recreational tow your vehiclewith all wheels on the ground becausevehicle or transmission damage couldoccur. Place the front wheels on atwo-wheel tow dolly. If you are using a towdolly, follow the instructions specified bythe equipment provider.
Note:Release the parking brake beforetowing your vehicle. See ManuallyReleasing the Electric Parking Brake(page 184).
RECREATIONALLY TOWING
YOUR VEHICLE - 2.7L
ECOBOOST™
Note:Put your climate control system inrecirculated air mode to prevent exhaustfumes from entering the vehicle. SeeClimate Control (page 128).
Follow these guidelines if you have a needfor recreational towing. An example ofrecreational towing would be towing yourvehicle behind a motorhome. We designedthese guidelines to prevent damage to yourtransmission.
You can recreational tow your vehicle withall four wheels on the ground using theManual Park Release procedure, or withall four wheels off the ground using avehicle transport trailer. If you are using avehicle transport trailer, follow theinstructions specified by the equipmentprovider.
If you recreational tow your vehicle with allfour wheels on the ground:
•Only tow your vehicle in the forwarddirection.
•Use the manual park releaseprocedure. See Using Manual ParkRelease (page 178). Failure to do somay result in damage to thetransmission.
•Do not exceed 65 mph (105 km/h).

EMERGENCY TOWING
If your vehicle becomes inoperable withoutaccess to wheel dollies or a vehicletransport trailer, it can be flat-towed withall wheels on the ground, regardless of thepowertrain and transmission configuration,under the following conditions:
•Your vehicle is facing forward fortowing in a forward direction.
•Use the manual park releaseprocedure. See Using Manual ParkRelease (page 178). Failure to do somay result in damage to thetransmission.
•Maximum speed is 35 mph (56 km/h).
•Maximum distance is 50 mi (80 km).

FUSE PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: Always disconnect thebattery before servicing high currentfuses.
WARNING: To reduce risk ofelectrical shock, always replace thecover to the power distribution boxbefore reconnecting the battery orrefilling fluid reservoirs.
WARNING: Always replace a fusewith one that has the specifiedamperage rating. Using a fuse with ahigher amperage rating can cause severewire damage and could start a fire.

1.Release the latches on both sides ofthe fuse box.
2.Raise the inboard side of the fuse boxfrom the cradle.
